11.03.2023. Chicken teriyaki donburi 10.00. A decent portion for what I paid. The teriyaki seemed pretty standard. There was definitely a lot of rice in comparison to the meat, but still worth 10 bucks. There was a large selection of premade bentos and stuff on the right side of the store. The food is fine, but not something you HAVE to go try. Good for people working in the area who want a quick lunch.

    Donburi selection

A good place to pick up Japanese food. Grab and go. Their selection of sushi, poke, and hand roll options were great. I didn't try the donburi so not sure on that. I tried to order curry from the menu, but the worker said they don't sell it till it gets to the colder outside. I wish there was a sign that said seasonal and it was clearer to tell what is being served to order vs grab and go. Clean and well organized shop food selection, container to place your food, and sauces/utensils. Special Roll: 4/5 The fish on top was good, the tempura shrimp inside was a little lacking in certain spots of the roll. Served with mango on the side great for the price. Spicy tuna Hand roll: 5/5 Actually spicy tuna and lettuce. Affordable price, it's self service so you can use the tongs to pick which you want. There's multiple hand roll options to pick from. I'll come back again to try the donburi or to grab some sushi.

Solid and dependable spot to grab a Japanese bento for lunch. Or sushi. Or a donburi. Or a bowl of udon. Or so much more. Tenmatsu is not short on choice for the FiDi worker looking for a quick Japanese lunch fix. Making a decision is probably the longest part. Pick your choice, pay, and you're on your way. Personal favorites include the savory gyudon, bright sashimi salad, and for a snack - why not a spam musubi for later? The beef bowl has good flavor and with the rice is quite Asian comfort food. You can get the salad with the sesame vinaigrette on it's own but go with the sashimi upgrade. Mealpal options here included a teriyaki salmon bowl but perhaps a little too skinny a slice. Better to just grab and go from the regular menu here and it's just as fast.

The food is so good, fresh, and at a great price. Both the teriyaki bowl and the tempura roll I got came in roughly under $20, and the owners are so friendly and sweet. No seating though since it is a to-go spot, but a great option for a quick lunch!

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS SMALL BUSINESS!!!! Service: Great grab-and-go spot in FiDi! Love that it's so quick and easy to grab on a busy day. There are both hot foods and cold (sushi) available however, at the time I went (12:06pm on a Friday) there wasn't many options! Not sure if they were still prepping or the lunch rush already passed. I definitely wished there were more options. One thing that bothered me was that the cashier, a young girl, was very polite but then asked "can you make sure to tip?". I was definitely going to tip as I always support small businesses & it was my first time there, but to bluntly ask for tip sort of threw me off. I get that it's such a small business and I'm sure during the pandemic, it was difficult to get through, but maybe a cute sign or a more visible tip jar would've been a better way to communicate tipping? Otherwise, transaction was simple and quick. Food: Sushi was pretty good quality! I got a bento box w 5 pieces of nigiri and 4 pieces of rolls. It was well packed & fairly filling! For $15, I'm not complaining. I would definitely go back!! Location: It's located on Kearny, in FiDi, walking distance to all of the major companies. When you pass by, it really doesn't look like much and is sort of a whole in the wall, but it's pretty much a hidden gem. Absolutely recommend this place!!

    Delicious!

I love Gyudon. I search high and low for good Gyudon for lunch. When i think Japanese food I don't think sushi - I think Japanese Curry, Sukiyaki, Saba Shioyaki and Gyudon. Tenmatsu has great Gyudon! Paper thin, perfectly cooked sukiyaki beef with great sauce and onions. Great great great Japanese Curry! The perfect curry sauce and pieces of beef you can cut with a spoon. The bento boxes are HUGE. The place is probably 6x6 (maybe 9x9) it's tiny but don't let the small size fool you the food here is legit and very reasonable - Gydon $9 Japanese Beef Curry $9. Tenmatsu get's crowded and finding the food in a crowd in a tiny space can be challenging. There is a refrigerated section for sushi, a warming area for the rice bowls, a spot for the bento boxes and the ramen / udon / curry is served by one of the cashiers. Great lunch spot!

I love Tenmatsu! I love the grab n go concept with meals that are prepared fresh or that morning. I also love how you can see exactly what each meal will look like so there are no surprises. The prices are fair for the financial district area. You have your basic rolls like the California roll for $7. Then, you have your specialty rolls like dragon, rainbow, and etc. for $10-$15. They also offer chirashi bowls, a whole section for hot donburi bowls, a hand roll section, "sides" including seaweed salad, and even a made to order noodle section (sobas and udon). I got the veggie combo $10.50 which was a good amount of food on its own. I also got the ebi hand roll for $2.50. Both were good and hit the spot but neither was extraordinarily unique. Overall, Tenmatsu is great for a quick, easy, and value lunch! The food is just what you expect (nothing more, nothing less). They have a variety of options for meat lovers and vegetarians/vegans, hot food lovers, cold food lovers, and noodle lovers.

The first time I came here, I got the strawberry matcha latte with my friends. We ordered it via delivery on DoorDash, and I'm not sure if it's just the whole delivery part, but I could not taste any part of the strawberry! It just tasted like regular cream on top. Typically I'm more of a coffee person than matcha, so I'm not a great judge in whether this was good matcha or not. But I guess it did taste ok in my opinion. The funny thing is, my coworker also said the same thing when she ordered the strawberry matcha latte a separate time! Disappointing. A separate time, we also ordered from them via delivery. This time I was eager to try their food items instead, since they have a pretty interesting selection, like those cake sandwiches and various Japanese items. I got the spam masubi, which I thought would be a solid choice. It did arrive warm, but the slice of spam that was in the masubi was so thin! It was the thinnest piece of spam I had ever gotten, and I've gotten spam masubis at a variety of places including ABC stores and other places in Hawaii, and even various stores in the States. The rice was okay, some brown rice thing with seasoning, that was decent but not my preferred white rice. Overall my two times here have been disappointing. I will really never line up for this place in person, nor will I understand why people do.

The restaurant has tables in both the front dining area and a quieter back section that feels more private. You order through a tablet attached to the table, which also tracks your remaining AYCE time. Service was extremely efficient and dishes came out surprisingly fast. Some items stood out more than others, but overall we definitely got our money's worth. For around $50 including tax and tip, it's a pretty reasonable AYCE sushi option in SF.

What we ordered: + San Ten Mori (assorted sashimi) [4/5]: The highlight of our meal was the yuzu wasabi that came with the salmon + amberjack in this set. It was sooo delicious and spicy. The fish were plated beautifully, and the quality was pretty good. + Shungiku Kama Sarada (chrysanthemum greens & duck breast) [6/5 - would recommend]: WOW. I was so pleasantly surprised by how fresh, crunchy, and acidic this salad was. The greens are amazing. On top of that, the duck breast was so tender and delicious-- I just wish the dish came with a few more slices. + Chicken Oyster [4/5]: I really loved how juicy this was. I normally don't like chicken because of how dry it is, but this was a great skewer. I wish the skin was a little less burnt. The chicken was also so thick that while the outside was juicy, the inside was a little drier. + King Trumpet [4/5]: Wow! These looked amazing when they arrived. I thought the flavor was great but the texture was a bit rubbery. + Kama Tama Udon (carbonara) [4.5/5]: Delicious! I couldn't stop eating this udon slathered in amazing thick sauce. + Chiizu Tori Katsu [4/5]: This was sooo good. I wish the cheese ratio was 3x as much, but the flavor and tenderness of the katsu is delicious. Huge props to Rintaro; my Resy reservation was initially cancelled due to an accident in booking, but the staff was so friendly and went above & beyond to help me get my reservation reinstated at a similar time.

Yaki onigiri was good as well, the soy sauce flavored rice had good flavor but I personally would've preferred a filling inside. Original mushroom potstickers and katsu curry rice were both skips from me. The potstickers didn't have that much flavor to me, and they were really flimsy and fell apart upon picking up. I had higher expectations for the katsu curry rice as well but maybe it was an off day, as the chicken was dry and stringy and the curry didn't have the classic rich/deep flavor I was expecting. Overall glad I got to try Bon, Nene once! Definitely worth trying the mentaiko spaghetti here.
