Fast, casual restaurant serving delicious sushi and Japanese food. The restaurant is a good place for a quick fix for your sushi cravings. The prices with not break your budget. Love the combo items, freshly made and taste home style. My faves are the teriyaki salmon and the sesame chicken. The combo comes with a miso soup and a salad. The staff are wonderful. They greet you when you walk in with a smile and thank you when you leave. The food comes promptly and give you everything you need. Clean dining area, tables too close to each other so it's a bit claustrophobic when it's busy.

Aloha roll

Fixed my sushi craving in a pinch! The workers were very kind and honestly on a Saturday around lunch time it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be! However, I can see why people would say order ahead. The Aloha roll was pretty good, the gyoza was probably my favorite part though! They have that nailed. Their chicken was alittle dry and their ginger looked alittle less fresh. But I would come back for the kind service, I bet some food is just hit or miss depending on the time of day! Plenty of parking!

This place is getting better! Tempura is so good here. I found my new favorite dish today. An Eel bowl. So delicious! I highly recommend it. Service is always good and fast! There's plenty of tables . At least every time I come.

Love the 3 item combo. Quick service. Good prices Gyoza yummy. So is salmon. Drinks are cheap too

Chicken teriyaki plate

Great neighborhood sushi & cooked Japanese food place. My dad, who was a sushi aficionado, said their sushi was fresh & well sliced. I always get the salmon teriyaki & it's consistently well grilled & tasty. I like their california rolls as it's not the whole piece of fake crab meat surrounded by bunch of rice. Here, they dice the crab & mix with mayo to give it a nice flavor. The tempura was crunchy & well fried. My hubby likes their chicken teriyaki as well as the sesame chicken (fried). He also liked their curry - milder version of the Indian curry. We always enjoy coming here.

I pass this place frequently and decided to give it a try. I went in and placed a to go order for a Salmon Bento Box. Inside it was not that busy but I could tell that they had a lot of delivery orders. I waited 22 minutes for my order. I brought it home and At a glance was not overly impressed with presentation. I tasted the salmon and it lacked flavor even though it was smothered with teriyaki sauce. The miso soup was ok. Inside had seating and a sushi bar if dining alone. Beverages are canned with exception of hot green tea. Traditional Japanese snacks at register. Ample parking in the lot outside. Will I return, probably not anytime in the near future.

Sorry for the dirty receipt but I won't tip. Specially if I have to go to the counter (order&pick up) my own food.

It's a nice little warm place. And when I mean warm it is warm inside this place. They should turn on the AC. But the food is good. And the portions are great. I really like this place. But my complaint is if Mc Donald's doesn't ask for tip why should you? And the reason I say that is I order at the counter, pick up my own food at the counter and then I have to BUS my own plates. They shouldn't have to ask for tips. Specially when the cashier gives you a look like "no tip". At the end if I am in that direction and u want sushi Yes I will stop by and get something. But I won't go out of my way to go buy sushi there.

2 Item Combo Plates with beef and shrimp tempura
Gabe S.

The best spot for a quick casual Japanese fix! I got the two item combo with beef and shrimp tempura and it reminded me of a home cooked meal made with love. The beef was so tender and the tempura was very crispy. And idk what it is about Japanese rice but it's so good! The combo also comes with miso soup and a salad which I didn't mind eating. More food for me! The people at the register and behind the counter were very kind and greet you coming in and out. The food came out promptly, and everything that you need is provided to you. If you're around the area, stop by and grab a bite! They have sushi too which isn't too bad.

Sesame Chicken Plate = Yesterday's re-fried food /not fresh.
Ryan U.

Had a hankering for the sesame chicken. So, I ordered the three item combo (sesame chicken, California roll, tempura). 1130am, and they must've used the chicken from yesterday and threw it back in the deep fryer because my jaw is sore! It's SO chewy it's unenjoyable. waste of a meal.

Combo 7
Karen H.

I arrived today at 3p.m. and was warmly greeted by the cashier. I ordered Combo 7, which included salad, rice, three pieces of sushi, chicken teriyaki, gyoza, and miso soup. A gentleman--whom I believe was the owner--took a moment to thank me for coming in, which I found truly appreciated.

A great quick spot to satisfy your sushi cravings! The combo was the perfect amount of food. They also offer lots of cooked Japanese food dishes too.

Create your own combo and Wave Combo
Derek F.

We really enjoyed this quaint restaurant tucked in the middle Bixby Knolls. We split the Wave combo, which contained 6 nigiri of 3 different fish, all were great cuts, and a roll of your choosing. Then the create your own combo where we got the must have sesame chicken, tempura mix and spicy salmon roll. Everything was great! On top of the great food, the staff was friendly and was constantly cleaning the restaurant. Highly recommended!

The menu had such a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, from sushi, to katsu, to donburi, there's something for everyone! Loved the modern clean vibes of the interior. They start you off with complimentary miso soup, which was full and rich (a bit salty for my liking but that's just me). We also ordered a plate of nigiri as our appetizer, and the fish quality was really fresh. I ordered the chicken katsu plate for myself, and my was it delicious. I've never tasted katsu so light even though it's typically fried, and love the sauce they paired the katsu with. It was almost like a mustard? But it wasn't too overpowering or anything. We finished the night with the tempura ice cream, and let me tell you, this is a MUST. I honestly just expected them to throw some panko on top of a scoop of ice cream, but Te-Buru's take is (somehow) baking a tempura crust right onto a giant scoop of ice cream and then cutting up the scoop into wedges. The ice cream surprisingly did not melt all that quickly either, and the matcha flavor was on point. Our servers were quick to meet our requests, nothing super outstanding but made the meal pretty seamless. Prices I think were pretty standard except for their sushi. Those are bit on the steeper side, but again, their fish quality is really good. For parking, they do have a small lot, but there's also street parking and parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. You'd be delulu not to try Te-Buru!

Didn't enjoy the scallop handroll as much; however, they had a scallop sashimi appetizer this month that was amazing. The appetizer had thinly sliced hotate (Hokkaido scallops), seasoned with yuzu and it was delicious. Also ordered a soft-shell crab appetizer and we appreciated the meatiness of the soft-shell crab. While it was sometimes difficult to get the attention of servers, we felt the quality of the seafood was pretty good here. For this reason, this is a really welcome addition to the east long beach community and I'll definitely be back!

I love the garlic and chili combos with a little citrus flavor. Also ordered the stinky roll, which is spicy tuna on the inside and salmon on the outside which I liked very much couldn't decide on a second roll so I asked the server to surprise us and kind of regret doing that because he had brought us a roll that I was already cringing at reading the description on the menu which was their long beach roll however, the crunch it had on the inside was very nice and not too heavy. I don't feel that asparagus should be anywhere near a sushi roll, but that was my bad. Also ordered their Yuzu cheesecake, which was a no for me. This is my first…read moretime at the Bixby Knolls location, so it could just be that it's better than the Belmont Shore location. Sushi Nikkei is a unique experience, blending sushi with Peruvian cuisine. It's a fantastic date night spot for adventurous foodies. Here's what I got that I think really made Sushi Nikkei shine: Scallops - These grilled scallops are small, but pack a punch with smoky charred flavors from the grill, tender scallops, and crispy crunchies from the popped quinoa. This is a great starter. Tuna Tacos - These are simple and delicious. One to two bites of crisp, refreshing, flavorful tuna tartare in a light, flaky fried wonton shell. Tostada - This was good, but a goof one to pass on if you're choosing between appetizers. It's a good sample of all of the fresh flavors available, but the tuna tacos are just a similar and better option. Nikkei Tasting - The Nikkei tasting is the perfect way to try what Peruvian sushi means. It's a fun encapsulation of what flavors they want to bring forward in their dishes. All of the pieces are very unique, flavorful, and fun to try. I've gotten this every single time I've been here and I have not regretted it. Unknown Tiradito - I am always underwhelmed by their tiraditos/ceviche situations, so it makes sense why I can't remember what this one was called. I also can't find the name on their menus, but I've included it in the photos here. They're fresh, but to me, the flavors are always a little wonky. This one in particular was relying on the flavor of a high quality olive oil, but it never came through. Lava Scallops - We added this one as a bite to our Nikkei tasting. It has a plump, juicy piece of scallop. Shinjuku - The shinjuku is a must order, and our favorite Nikkei bite of the night. It was simple, delicious, and a perfect way to showcase the quality of their fish and flavors. I had a group dinner here, so we all had a blast trying lots of different things. I think this is a perfect date night spot for your adventurous partner.  Parking is plentiful, hot sake is flowing, and food is interesting to talk about and enjoy together. Enjoy!

The shoya had a meatier tasting broth whereas the other was thicker and a bit creamier. We also tried the pork buns. They were soft and suppose. The meat was tender. The buns would have been less moist since it made it a tad bit soggy. But nonetheless it was still very good. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was shocking. It was so good. I hate tuna but this was very good. It wasn't fishy at all and had such a great umami taste to it all I would totally recommend this place to someone who wants a simple ramen menu that is priced around $20 per entree. The wait can get about an hour or more on the weekend but if you come during the week try to get there before 7pm. The only down side is they add a service charge to your bill. On their menu it's scratched out that you can take it off the bill. I think this is their way of tipping their servers but considering it's 17% is pretty hefty if you have a large bill. From a bill of about $35 it was a $5 service fee charge.

Always good, I thought I had reviewed it already but apparently never did. Have been here many…read moretimes if you get seated before 6pm you are set for happy hour which gets you some deals. The service is always on point, quick with your orders and drinks. Friendly and fast so usually the wait for a table or seat at the sushi bar is quick even with a line up. They have interesting rolls that you don't see everywhere else some Thai mash ups in there. The vibe there is always fun and friendly. Smaller space and makes it cozy and inviting.

The name says it all: I Luv Sushi and I really, really do. Sushi spots nowadays can be difficult…read morebecause there's one on every block it feels like. And eating sushi spots through Yelp is even more difficult because imo what people think is good sushi is subjective lol. I am pretty darn picky, I want the fish fresh period, and the size of the bites correct. This experience was for my bday and I had 3 teenagers with me so we opted for rolls because this isn't AYCE and I didn't feel like dropping $500 on nigiri! Rolls are a bit more cost effective especially when my son and I are eating. The rolls we got: PS Roll, Candy Cane, Caterpillar, Tsunami, Lynn (didn't try this one: as tempura and cream cheese just isn't really my thing), Incredible Roll, Cali roll (this was for my daughter, who isn't into sushi. She got this and ramen-forgot to snap a pic). Everything was delicious! Wait staff is extremely friendly, helpful and very efficient! This place is usually poppin, and most of the times I did have to wait for a table (but this is a GOOD sign in a sushi spot!) Empty restaurants scare me a bit, but especially a sushi spot! On other occasions, I have had there nigiri, sashimi plates... and I have never been disappointed! Def a go to spot if you're in the area!
