Sushi place along Commercial Drive. Parking is available on the side streets. The place appears to be Korean run. They are severely understaffed. Pop makes the sushi, and mom does everything else. The interior looks like a typical sushi place, with dark interior and wooden panelling. There's a small patio off to the side. They seemed to have inventory problems. Buddy and I wanted beer and they were out. Then we wanted pop and they were also out for some types. I ended up having water. Knock 1 star off. Then there was the wait. Our food took some 30 minutes to show up. The waitress did warn us though, so I won't ding them here. I did see several customers walk in (for both dine in and takeout) and leave frustrated at the wait times and reduced selection though. As for the food, it is decent quality. The rolls are on the smaller side and don't have the best bang for the buck. The bento boxes though are totally worth it. Decent portion, and good quality fish. I'd gladly come back for one of these again. I wouldn't mind coming back, but the wait time does scare me a bit. Hopefully they fix this over the next few months.

Caterpillar roll served with dry ice

After a long day of hiking at Burnaby mountain, my friend and I were hungry and ready for some delicious sushi that was well-deserved. We originally hoped to go to Kishimoto but they were closed so decided to go to Sushi Ville, just down the block. Tables were spaced out with partitions so felt Covid safe to dine in. My friend saw that some of the special sushi rolls came served with dry ice and got super excited, lol can you say inner kid? We decided to order a caterpillar roll and the aburi salmon sushi. We could smell the aburi salmon roll before it came to us. This was the first time my friend tried aburi and he loved the torched taste with the jalapeno combination! The caterpillar roll was served with the dry ice, which my friend loved, and it was super tasty and presented well. There was only one Korean lady serving the entire restaurant, was on cash, dealt with the take-out orders, and etc. Kudos to her as she was a husler but was super friendly and still provided a decent level of service. Cute local sushi joint run by Koreans with decent sushi and prices. Would come again but it's on a different level compared to Kishimoto.

Incredible prices for large amounts of food. Was very quiet when we were there which was a very nice ambiance. The service was good. You really get a bang for your buck.

I came to Sushi Ville with some friends. We hit up the back table and one of the first things I noticed was that the table was sticky. Definitely out of the ordinary, but I try my best to ignore it. They have an option to upgrade some of their rolls to 'giant rolls' for $2. I order the giant dynamite roll and Alaska roll. The orders do take longer than most places, but they have a giant sign in the front that explicitly says so, so you have been warned. The food itself is presented nicely. I definitely didn't expect a reindeer with smoky dry ice to come with my Alaska roll. The giant dynamite roll came in a typical long sushi tray. Value-wise, it's not as good as it was before. The giant rolls use to be a lot bigger, so I was disappointed to see the size go down. But at the end of the day, it's still cheaper than most places. I do think Sushi Ville is a nice bang per buck place since their food quality/quantity is great for what you're paying for, but the sticky table did make the experience uncomfortable and I wish they had the original giant rolls as an optional, even if they have to increase their prices.

Hands downs best bang for your buck sushi! We ordered the spicy tuna rolls, salmon oshi, dynamite roll, chicken teriyaki & inari rolls. All were amazing & highly recommended. As a bonus this place goes above & beyond for atmosphere by garnishing plates with characters & season decor. The waitress was lovely however we never received our calamari that we ordered, but decided not to mention because there was so much food anyways! Highly recommend!

Conveniently situated right by bike rack, so if you are coming on a workout trip on bikes and rollerblades as we were, this big pub style sushi spot is a great place to stop and grab a bite and drink. Presentation for special rolls is on another level. As a carnivore, the teriyaki beef rolls were satisfying... and solid value for getting the giant upsized rolls. Would do that again. But like I mentioned, it's the special fancy rolls that get a lot of attention... check out the pictures and you'll see what I mean. Pretty quiet on a weekend afternoon although the street was busy... but then, we were one of their first customers. I'm sure it gets busy during peak hours. The patio style layout makes it ideal on a nice day. Service was quick.

Sushi ville has special extra large rolls for +$2 upgrade but I didnt order any this time. But next time I would like to order the upgrade rolls because of the novelty. I ordered the palm springs roll - tasted pretty good and would order again. The other roll I ordered was the salmon avocado roll. The fish was relatively fresh and overall the roll was great. I think I want to try the sweet potato roll next time because it looks super big and filling :) the extra large rolls seem great for bigger eaters :)

I've come to Sushi Ville a handful of times since first discovering it a month ago now and I've enjoyed their sushi every single time. First of all, the interior decor of this restaurant is much more aesthetically pleasing than most sushi restaurants in the area. I can't wait to visit in the summer when those floor to ceiling windows are open and I can sit on the patio to people creep Commercial Drive. Second, their sushi is sooo good. They have a really large menu with a variety of bento boxes, aburi, rolls, sashimi, noodles, and rice bowls. The hardest part is deciding what you want to eat. Since I've been a couple times now I've ordered and tried a few different items: + Salmon Aburi + Spicy Cali Roll + Spicy Dynamite Roll + Assorted Tempura + Fried dumplings + Dragon Roll + Crazy Roll + Vancouver Roll + Volcano Roll Everything I tried, I loved. I especially loved the assorted tempura. I got to try the tempura banana, which is something I've never tried before. I loved it! I was a fan of all the rolls and aburi as well. For theatrics, they have dry ice smoke on the side of the sushi platters and torch the aburi at your table for you. A+ for theatrics. Service was a bit slower. But luckily we weren't in any rush, so we didn't mind all too much. The chefs also cook everything to order so you know it is all fresh. Plenty of free parking on the side streets and metered parking along the Drive. Will definitely be adding Sushi Ville to my monthly sushi rotating list. So. Good.

Honestly, my random visit here with my bf & his buddies was just ok. The set up was a bit crowded. I think there were about 10 tables of 4 with this tall blossom plant in between 2 tables (shown in picture) and around 8-10 individual seats on the mini patios (4-5 seats on 2 different sides outside). They have about 3 tv screens displaying sport channels. They have a common washroom, which didn't have much light, but was clean enough to use. I just didn't like the sight of many dish bins & dirty dishes piled visibly to everyone along the hallway when going to the washroom. I would suggest that maybe they should place a divider or curtain to hide it. In terms of taste it was alright; nothing special to boast about. In terms of prices on the menu, my bf & I found it to be pretty cheap compared to other sushi places we've been to. But I wonder if that is why it leads to my next point. In terms of service, the waitress was able to tend to our needs, but the wait for the food was ridiculously long. Yes, I know there's this huge sign placed on the wall forewarning an expectation to receive the food longer than expected (shown in picture), but there wasn't that much people there. We had to wait about 45 mins for our order of Spicy salmon sashimi & 2 Dynamite beef teriyaki bento boxes. For the Spicy salmon sashimi, I found it to be alright. The sashimi wasn't so tender compared to other places, but it was good enough and the sauce seemed to taste like what the Koreans use for the tteokboki. For the Dynamite beef teriyaki bento box, it came with tempura ( 2 prawn, yam, squash?), edamame, dynamite rolls, beef teriyaki & cole slaw (shown in picture). It didn't come with miso soup or the tempura dipping sauce. Well, it did come with 2 different sauces (i think teriyaki & dijon honey mustard) with very little amount in a tiny sauce dish that has a divider (which I found was useless for the bigger tempura, unless you rip it then dip it so it could fit), instead of the bowl of the usual liquidy dipping sauce for tempura (shown in picture). So overall, it was an ok visit. It has its pros & cons, but then again, this is just my opinion & observation from my experience.

Tucked on one of the curbs at commercial drive ,this sushi ville was busy even on Monday night . Wow,that means they have great food which I agree with. In fact food with tasteful presentation which is a delight for eyes too. Chicken udon soup was yummy n full enough for one person's dinner. Chicken in it becomes more juicy because of the soup n the shredded cabbage in it tastes so much better. From bountiful of sushi choices I picked giant bc rolls. They also have skewerd, bento boxes and noodles. Interesting thing is the food presentation. They deliver every food with a different drawing or fresh flowers or maybe dry ice which is,a delight for eyes. High ceilings and bright colour miniature figures makes this place looks quite bright and spacious. Every item is freshly prepared n so taste really good.

Sushi here is cheap, large portioned but thick on the rice and only mediocre tasting. They are known for the special and HUGE rolls so I visited with a few friends and tried out their negitoro, spicy chopped scallop and the palm beach roll with crab meat, spicy salmon, and yam tempura. All of the fish in the rolls wasnt particularly fresh or foul but just meh. The rolls had flavourless rice PACKED ON to each and the filling was disproportionate. Overall, although the prices aren't very high, this is reflected in the quality of their food with overload of sauce, meager filling and soft rice. I would not recommend or return.

This Japanese restaurant is running by Koreans. It is above average. The customer service is well. It is worth to come and eat sushi here if you don't want to wait for seats at Kitshimoto on the same street. We ordered chopped scallop roll, ikura sushi, special combo A, teriyaki beef yakisoba, aburi Saba Oshi sushi, and spicy salmon sashimi. The presentation of each dish is very creative and beautiful. A couple dishes have lost some scores though. The teriyaki beef yakisoba was too salty and the pressed rice of the aburi Saba Oshi sushi collapsed once we used chopsticks to take one from the dish to our own. There is street parking but usually they are full, so we always park further away and walk to the restaurant.

a variety of sushi on a wooden tray

My favourite sushi spot in all of Vancouver! The Lady that serves me every time I go always seems mad about something but I think that her attitude only adds to the whole quirky experience. Sometimes they even throw some dry ice onto my plate? The sushi is always delicious and the place is usually quiet. I recommend the deep fried California roll!

Steep as it is, I decided I wanted a "quick little sushi lunch with a view", and a quick little sushi lunch with a few is exactly what I received. Although I don't recommend it, I walked right in from the street, no reservation, and was seated at the bar (in pretty casual street clothes I may add). I enjoyed a premium sake flight (which was fine...just fine), an old fashioned served with the perfect accompanying dark chocolate, and a good amount of sushi including their signature aburi style sushi in flight form and nigiri tuna flight (bluefin, chutoro, otoro). After visiting Japan last December, I'm a bit of an otoro snob but I have to hand it to them, all three of these cuts were perfect. The accompanying rice, perfection. The quality of the fish, divine. The view was the cherry on top of this experience. This will certainly be a spot I revisit next time I'm in Vancouver.

Michelin starred quality in their service by how they explained the menu, brought out the food, came back around to refill waters. Just top notch service and elegantly so. The food was good but not of value. Their lunch set was a good introductory to what they offer. I enjoyed the food for its flavours and presentation but I thought that it was a bit overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, fresh and definitely elevated, but it was $50 for 10pcs of sushi, 2 appetizer sized samples of their appetizer or entree dishes, and miso soup (which we did not get and didn't realize till much later in the day). If you're wanting an upscale experience (and portion) of good quality food or wanting to impress other parties, then this is a nice spot. For regular eats, it's a bit too luxurious to be a casual thing in my opinion. The ambiance is nice and calm. They have a patio, which has a meh view overlooking the harbor, but beware of a breezy day. It will catch a bit of a wind tunnel. They have heaters and blankets but the heaters don't really reach unless you're sitting next to it.
