This has to be some of the worst sushi I've ever had. I love sushi I eat it all the time so I know when it's quality sushi , but this is just really horrible. Nothing is fresh , everything had a old taste to it. The rolls were warm and the meat in the middle was oddly brown in color. I ordered two rolls tonight and only could get about two pieces of each roll down and I had to stop. Very smelly to like a old fish smell. Please do not buy from this establishment. read more

Food was good but probably won't be back. Came here because our regular sushi spot was a no go and this was the next closest. Walked in and sat wherever we wanted and our server was prompt. We ordered sushi tacos, a Kani salad and three rolls. Our food came our super quickly, like within 7 minutes of ordering our apps it was on the table. We came during happy hour which is from 2-6pm and it was 20% off all sushi rolls. One thing that put me off either way was how expensive this place was. It wasn't extremely over the top but for what we got I just thought it could be cheaper. I noticed in a lot of other reviews people said there was a price increase. My boyfriend I also REALLY disliked how the 15% tip was already included. We were only a party of 2 people. That should only be done in parties of 6-7 or more. Something funny about this place too is that it's BYOB so we ran across the street to grab a beer lol. Amazing sushi rolls! Their menu is in a tablet! I really like how they are up to date with technology! Our server Maria is very nice and sweet! Plus the environment is great for a date night! Okay, So this place makes some tasty sushi but, they have a lot of serving issues. 1. Waited about ten minutes before we were approached 2. There was only one waitress for the whole place 3. They brought out the dishes in a random order so none of us were eating at the same time. ( My sister had food, she finished then they brought out my food , after I was almost done they brought out my mothers food) I just don't understand why they didn't bring it all out at once. 4. Great place! Prices like anywhere else(for kosher sushi). They open till 1:00am which makes it the only kosher eat-in place that open so late in the area. Always fresh sushi. They make it on the spot and very quick. They have some deals, but in the end it comes to the same price...maybe 50 cents cheaper... Overall is a good place! read more

Once again I feel compelled to write a review that I did not want to write. Sushi Tokyo is just an OK sushi place as far as the taste and quality of the sushi. This is the third time where I have ordered something and had to follow up with them about when my delivery was coming. Now I'm not talking about normal delays, I'm talking about over 2 1/2 hour time lapse since I placed the order! When you eventually do get through to a human being after being placed on hold for an ordinate amount of time they don't even have the decency to apologize they just stayed in a blasé tone, "oh it's on the way". Totally incompetent people taking your order, by the way they frequently leave out items. They sure know how to charge, quite expensive for the quality of sushi provided, but they don't quite have the delivery part down. read more

Was my first time ordering here, the food was great. However, I had to wait over 2 hours for my food to come. With the online ordering I was told my order would arrive in about an hour, and about an hour and a half later I called to check on my order and they said that the guy had already left the store and my order was on the way. Everything seemed okay until another hour passed and my food was still nowhere to be found. I called once again and got the same story, that he had already left and my order was on it's way. Sushi was ok. I went in the afternoon and pretty much sat where we wanted. Waitress was very helpful with making suggestions. I appreciated the fact that they serve sushi and not a mix of other cuisines. (Hate sushi restaurants that want to serve burgers smh..stick to one thing) Until I'm comfortable with a spot I opt out of raw dishes. I went with the avocado and sweet potato rolls but others in my party had various types and gave it the thumbs up It was a bit pricey IMO because I have another sushi spot in the area that does half off during lunch with great tasting choices...I digress!! Edit: 4/27/18 - Absolutely Disgusted With This Place. I had to come back and edit my initial 1 star review - if I could leave 0 stars I would. I placed an order on 4/26 at 5:01 with an estimated delivery time of 5:31-5:55pm. 7:00pm comes around and there is still no delivery and no contact from the restaurant so I call for an update. The staff asks for my order and begins to tell me that they just spoke with the delivery guy and the food is on the way. Ok....... 7:35pm comes around and there is still no delivery and no update from the restaurant or the delivery person so I call them again. This time, the person on the phone tells me that he just spoke to his delivery guy and he is on the way if he isn't already there. So I respond with well no clearly he's not here that's why I'm on the phone looking for an update and that I called 30 minutes ago and was told the same thing "the delivery guy is almost there". But still, the person on the other line proceeded to just say he is almost there (mind you the food was supposed to be delivered almost 2 hours ago so I'm not sure why there was no acknowledgement of that fact either). 8:01pm comes and of course there is still no food delivery and no contact from the restaurant or the delivery person. So now I contact Seamless because something seems off. Our rep at Seamless apologizes for the delay and contacts the restaurant directly to get an update on the order. They tell her the same story that the delivery guy is on the way and should be walking outside to my apartment. So she actually sits on the phone with me for 10 minutes while we wait and of course...nothing or no one shows up. She apologizes again and tells me we have the option to continue to wait and we could receive free grub (maybe $10 off our next order at the same disaster of a restaurant) or we could get a refund. At this point, it is 3 hours past when I ordered and when it was supposed to be delivered so my dinner plans with my guests were ruined so I just ask her to get us a refund. She proceeds to put me on hold again to call Sushi Toyko back and to ask for a manager and my refund. A few minutes later she comes back and lets me know that 1. there is no manager at the store tonight, 2. They weren't going to give me a refund and 3. Now they are claiming that the food was delivered and I'm just lying about it. Yes, I'm lying about the food being delivered when it STILL shows that it's out for delivery and each time I call or Seamless the store still says the delivery person is on the way. This whole experience was and still is absolutely absurd and luckily our seamless rep was able to help us. She even noted how ridiculous the entire situation was and that she saw we ordered from this place 1-2 a week for the past months (with orders of at least $50 or more). Not impressed at all. All of the sushis tasted the same and did not taste fresh. We ordered a 10 roll platter and did not receive our own plates to eat off of. Also we had only received 9 of the sushis and had to remind them about our 10th roll. I did like the option of having spicy mayo on side without asking for it. read more

We order from a fair amount of sushi bars and restaraunts that offer sushi and we are hard pressed to find anything remotely close in comparison. The fish is always fresh and most importantly consistent. The fact that they include a low sodium soy sauce dispenser with my platter is a nice touch and im usually not interested in tearing open a bunch of little soy packets when im sitting down to eat. On occasion something is missing from our order. They are only human. And its usually resolved with a simple phone call. Sometimes the staff a sounds like they would rather be texting then answering your questions which happens every now and then but staff is staff and staff comes and goes. *6/19/15 update - so after revisiting and reordering numerous times seems they have improved on staff and service, even little things like a small credit that we forgot about and was reminded upon a recent order. two thumbs up yall, and keep it up! Wont order from anywhere else because im tired of being dissapointed. Great sushi and really good pricing, especially on platters. read more

This place is a hit or miss. I mostly order online or via phone. Their website ordering system doesn't go through for me half the time. Once when I ordered on a busier night the rice was not cooked properly and sushi was sub par. As others have mentioned, they are very pricey. I still order from here as the other kosher sushi options in town aren't better. I would say 4/5 times sushi is good. It is over priced. Ambiance is not the greatest either. I like their sushi salad the best. My husband likes their tempura rolls. read more

I ordered for take away and after waiting for a single person (small order) in front of me to be taken (it took about 6 minutes). I had to wait another 4-5 minutes to be served, nobody else was online mind you. Once my order was in, it took nearly 10 minutes to make. 10 minutes to make 2 sushi rolls? It's a nice place, but they need to focus on customer satisfaction and move things along, or they will lose many customers that don't have 30 minutes to grab a quick meal. read more

Since I've had it with the horrendous customer service from the Queens "Sushi Tokyo", JJ, Mark, and I decided to come to this place (mainly because of the late hours). I must add that both restaurants close at 2AM, and the one in Queens wouldn't seat us at 1AM (.. this is what you get when you hire kids to run the place), so we decided to hustle over to the one in the 5towns. Since their menu has been revised, they only have specialty rolls and SELECT regular rolls (JJ, Mark, and I weren't interested in them). So, we asked the guy where the regular rolls were, and he said that if we ask for specific ones, he'll put the order in for us. Okay. I ask him how much a couple rolls were and he was giving me some prices, so I decided to go with the cheaper options since I mainly came to the place to sit down with Mark and JJ in the first place!! All together we get around 8 rolls.. Finally we ask for the check and it's around $90 ,, the guy literally made up prices in his head and told us them as if they were standard ,, Knowing "Sushi Tokyo", I'm not surprised at all. 15% was already included (I shouldn't have paid that). I really don't understand why a tip is always mandatory ,,, Over time, the quality of the "Sushi Tokyo" chains has gone down, the deals have vanished, and the prices have dramatically increased. I used to LOVE this place. I now Hate it. I just ate there for the last time. The greedy owner simply cannot stop raising the prices and its disgusting. I just ate there, got 2 REGULAR rolls and a salad. The bull came out to $35! They even force u to give a $4 tip that was already included in the bill. Seriously?! Non kosher I'd be looking at $10 tops. Kosher at any other place I would say 22 Tops. I would understand if it was the only sushi spot in town but Stop Chop and Roll is literally down the block and has much better prices and service. Never again will this place get my business. I wish I could give this particular location negative stars. In a nutshell: horrific customer service- the manager and some support staff are immensely disrespectful. I've spent thousands of dollars at this establishment just to get hung up on, be refused to fix incorrect orders, yelled at for "too much background noise" (while alone in my own kitchen), no apology for orders that went undelivered after being assured for 2-3 hours that the order was out for delivery and literally be harassed by management inside the establishment in the middle of a sit down dinner with family. I have heard similar complaints from customers Management at other locations have told me they've heard similar horror stories about the cedarhurst venue and shared several of their own stories of run-ins with the cedarhurst management/employees. Requesting a status update on an order that you placed an hour and 40 minutes minutes ago seems quite reasonable to the average person. BUT, the folks that work at this place seem to disagree. I've called twice already and my food is still not here. When answering the phone, the staff speak as if I'm bothering them. Call 1: 37 minutes ago I was told "the guy is on his way", we'll guess what... "the guy" still hasn't arrived and I'm a 7 minute drive from this place. Second time I called, I was told "it's a cold night, everyone is ordering sushi delivery" (seriously?!?). That's it folks, my two cents. Ever since Brach's Supermarket Closed I was unable to find a place that makes good sushi as well as Jason the Sushi Guy! A friend of mind told me to try Sushi Tokyo and I have absolutely no complaints the sushi is a great. The size of the sushi, the freshness, the way you can order it to your liking it's definitely worth trying out. I was a little nervous to walk into the location being that I am an African American Woman walking into a sushi restaurant in a predominantly Jewish Area but the owner and the cashier were very polite. I have returned to this location about 3 times already and if the service continues to be great I will continue to order from Sushi Tokyo. read more

This restaurant is the epitome of what a bad restaurant should strive to be. The service was abysmal. Not only was it very slow, but the food was barely above average quality, for extremely above average prices, mind you. After eating the food for which I waited more than a half hour (and only 3 tables were occupied when I ordered), I ordered some more sushi to bring home. Big mistake. The rolls weren't even cooked rolls; they were standard, raw fish with rice. And they still took forever to make them. I downloaded the Yelp app and created and verified this account just so I could give these people a piece of my mind. After finishing writing this review, I still haven't gotten my food.
