The broth was so delicious and I don't know if they were actually wontons that were in there it almost looked & were soft like shumai! added in were onions etc! I'm pretty sure I'm going back today for more of their wonton soup!! the Shuai were absolutely delicious and fresh and so was the tempura!! delivery was quick! This was an absolutely happy mistake ! Staying in Long Island for 1 week because of work. Found this place while looking for an Asian spot and I'm happy I chose this place. I've already been here 2x and plan on coming back. Everything is super cheap and the quality does not suffer at all. I eat like a king here. $2.75 garden salad, $4 spring rolls, $5 sushi and $9 cocktails. How can you complain? My kids have been asking to eat Japanese food but I wasn't sure where to order from as we are new to the area. Did a search in this group (newly added)-thank you and Himawari came up. We called to ask a few questions before we ordered as my kids are super picky. They literally only want to eat salmon. Himawari was so nice and accommodating. I was able to change the sushi nigiri to all salmon nigiri for $4 extra and ask for no tuna for the sashimi deluxe as the whole family refuses to eat tuna. My meal was solid, but unfortunately Himawari fell short in the service department. We were here with a crew of 14, and I get that can definitely take longer than normal to serve a group of that size... But three hours seems a bit excessive to me. It took forever to get in an order, and when we were finally able to we were only able to put in drinks and not food. Luckily once we finally ordered the food started to come out pretty fast, but it seemed like we were nearly an hour into the reservation before being able to order anything. My chicken teriyaki entree option was supposed to come with soup or salad, and they didn't offer it to me until I asked for it after my entree came out. Definitely a little strange. Despite some service mishaps I really enjoyed my meal. I don't eat sushi, so it's always a little hard for me to judge a sushi restaurant. But, that does mean that I order goyoza and chicken teriyaki every.single.time. So one could say that I pretty much am an expert in that department. The chicken was sweet and flavorful and came with a generous portion. Everyone around me seemed to really enjoy their sushi, so I'll go ahead and assume that it was good. The private space is large and comfortable for a group of 14, and despite the slow service our server was extremely sweet. She brought out a beautiful dessert display with candles for my friend who was celebrating her birthday. The fried bananas were perfection. Prices are fair and all of my food (plus a large Sapporo) was around 30 dollars. If I lived in the area and liked sushi I'm sure I'd return. read more

Having recently moved to LB, we have been working our way through all of the sushi restaurants that deliver each week in search of our favorite. So far, this one takes the cake! We ordered an assortment of rolls to share tonight - lots of veggie rolls, a spicy tuna roll and some of their special rolls. They were all awesome and very fresh. Nothing special at all, how is this place getting such a high review? Maybe because I am from the city, not impress at all...This is just your regular chinese owned sushi joint.. Service was not professional and not welcoming, waitresses dont know how to smile or say the word "thank you", we walked into the restaurant, before even seating us at the table and the hostess already asked us for our drink order, its like can we at least sit down and look at the menu first??? Then we ordered 3 rolls and we waited forever for the third roll and apparently they forgot to put in the system so we told them to cancel it. Been here and have ordered in a few times, tried different rolls and everything is typically tasty. Harvest roll was my go to. Recently tried the Marvin roll and the Himawari roll though and they are my new favorites. Their Thai pineapple fried rice is good but nothing special. I've tried their chicken teriyaki bento box for dinner and it's good but chicken portion was kind of small, it was mostly a bunch of sliced up onions (the spicy kind not even sweet). Service is great, staff is nice and tries to be as quick as possible. Their green tea fried ice cream was good although it didn't taste like green tea at all. We walked in on a Friday night after a stroll on the boardwalk. We were seated right away. It looked like a very popular place for take out too. Lots of orders waiting to be picked up or delivered. My date had a sweet potato roll and another roll I don't remember. I had a Long Beach roll and another roll I don't remember. I also didn't take pictures this time. BUT, the food was very good. I also had seaweed salad, a diet coke, and hot tea. It all came out to about $40 for the both of us, which I thought was very reasonable. Very wonderful sushi place. It's in Long Beach Island Long Island. The music is so nice inside the restaurant. I was impressed with lunch special for 14.99 you get 3 rolls , salad soup. Ouch! The service tonight was painfully pathetic! We got sat at the "wrong table"; they asked us to move. We ordered an appetizer; they never put it in. I dehydrated half way through my meal. They brought me a water WITH the check. I would have ordered a dessert but no one even asked. Sheesh! They just couldn't be bothered! It's a shame because the sushi is really good. This was my first time trying this restaurant, I took my parents out to dinner, and my mother wanted Pho Soup, which they offer, plus I had heard good things, so we decided to give it a try. The first issue was that the restaurant was very busy. 15 tables and what seemed like one waitress busting her ass, while the other waiter barely did anything. I will say she was great, she was just overworked and overwhelmed. I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon combo, and the Crazy Angel Roll. It came with a Miso Soup, salad, and another sushi roll. The salad was very good, but the soup wasn't hot, and it was bland. The piece of salmon was small, but it was good, they have a very good teriyaki sauce. The sushi roll was ok, but lacked flavor. The Crazy Angel roll didn't come out until we were all finished eating and were ready to leave (assuming it was forgotten), and it was mediocre, also lacking flavor. My father got the sashimi platter, and he enjoyed it. My mother got the Pho Seafood Soup, she said it had the wrong kind of noodles for Pho Soup (big thick noodles instead of thin glass noodles), and that it wasn't very flavorful. Overall it was OK, but with so many other options for Asian food and Sushi in the area, I probably won't be back. Yori in Oceanside is still by far the best local restaurant for sushi. read more

The hype machine is high here, so when looking for a new casa in the LB I had to stop in. The joint is smaller than expected and located along Park Ave just west of LB Blvd. I sat at the sushi bar and scoped out the lunch specials, most of which are under $10, but decided on the sushi and sashimi special ($15, 4 pieces of sushi, 6 pieces of sashimi, 1 California roll, soup, salad). The fish tasted fresh, no problems with the soup/salad and the service was prompt and professional. No complaints from this guy! Will def be back for more rolls and hopefully be a regular at $1 sushi night. Protip: TV behind the sushi bar if you're dining solo. read more

I've been coming here for years and I love the staff! They know me by name and remember each member of the family I've introduced to their establishment! But most importantly, their sushi is a grade above many restaurants in the Long Beach Area. It's a hole in the wall type of place that makes up for it with great food. We mainly come here for their sushi lunch special ($1 per piece of sushi) but dinner is good too. Winning dishes in my book include Yaki Udon for noodles, salmon teriyaki for cooked fish, and the cruise ship for sushi! Always beautifully presented! If you're looking for steak or chicken, go somewhere else. I think if Himawari did a little bit of renovating (new chairs to start) they would really shine. But who's paying attention to chairs when you're sitting right at the sushi bar, watching sports, sipping on plum wine, and enjoying an array of sashimi and maki? Go here! read more

THE PLACE for SUSHI in LBNY! My only word of advice is order no sauce on your rolls otherwise it will come with spicy mayo and/or eel sauce. DEF try the Yellowtail Jalepeno request thinly sliced jalepenos, off the charts! Best value is the $20 cold sake in the black bottle it's the highest grade "Oseki Daigingo". Himawari is great for catering parties we've used them many times for large gatherings, a great burger alternative. This is a great locals style sushi spot in the center of LB, the staff is super nice, the owner was Tommy but I believe he sold the business to his manager at the time, but regardless the place has lost none of its charm, service or great sushi. It's a small long corridor style restaurant that will be busy on a F-S or Sun night so be prepared to wait a bit. The sushi is always great and well done with out the absurd prices. Also something else that I notice here and most "South shore" or at least LB sushi spots is this, if you sit at the sushi bar now get this the chef's actually speak to you and converse! Living in Suffolk for sometime now I notice it's quite the opposite, why so? In most places I have been to there is almost zero dialect, all orders go directly to a waiter/waitress standing behind you and you eat your meal and go... This is a very casual sushi restaurant. No dress code. Not much flair. Just good sushi. I had the spicy tuna tartar for appetizer. This wasn't the typical tuna tartar. It was topped with black caviar and a raw egg. There were so many contrasts of delicate flavors and textures. It's was one of the most interesting dishes I've tried. For the main course, I had the Marvin roll, Fatty Salmon sushi, yellow tail sushi, and white tuna sushi. All of the fish was at an ideal temperature which allowed the flavors to flourish. I just got home from eating at this sushi spot in Long Beach. Saw a few reviews on this place and figured I'd try it. My friend Erica and I ordered Miso Soup (of Course), Himawari Salad, Volcano Roll, Naruto Special Roll, Black Widow Roll & Fried Ice Cream. The best part of this entire meal was actually the Himawari Salad. It was really good. The dressing had a nice little kick to it. The fish were really fresh and cut nicely. The miso soup was OK, kind of bland. The Black Widow Roll was my favorite from the 3 rolls. The fried ice cream was OK. The ice cream was so hard it took a little strength to even get a piece lol... They put on a ton of whip cream which I just didn't like. Took them 10-15mins just to bring the dessert to us. The service of the wait staff was right on. The decor was OK at best. I didn't like their chop sticks. The shape just felt... a bit weird. I know strange but... I actually prefer Nagahama Sushi Restaurant across the street. The food at Nagahama is right on and more bold flavors. Just makes you wanna smile while eating it. Himawari is an OK place. I'd come back for that salad =) I'm not sure what all the hype has been for Himawari. Their service was excellent their food was just OK.
