By far the best sushi in the area. I work in Kew Gardens and the Sushi places around there are *awful*. This restaurant is a nice walk or quick subway stop away. Sushi Time is a TINY restaurant that seats up to 16-18 people and that's including at the bar. Do not come here with a large group (as in greater than 4 people). Seriously, it just cannot be done. Most customers seem to order pickup which makes sense given the lack of space. I like to come here to treat myself every once in a blue. It certainly is not a place I visit regularly because it can be pretty costly. Each specialty roll averages around 14 bucks and this girl does not only eat one roll at a time. Nuh-uh! Pricey as it may be, each roll is large and can come with up to 8-10 delicious pieces. So filling and so satisfying! You really pay for what you get though because you can spend a fraction of the cost elsewhere but the quality is also inferior. Do I really think Sushi Time should have city prices? Probably not. But I like it enough that I think it's worth coming to every now and then. This restaurant is Korean-owned - not that it really matters but it's always interesting to me whether a Japanese restaurant is actually run by Japanese people. I was dying for sushi so we found this place around the Forest Hills area. It was really small, a few tables and a few seats around the bar so we waited a bit for a table. Once we sat down, our server was pretty friendly. We ordered a spicy salmon and avocado roll, a tuna and avocado roll, and a Philadelphia roll. This is the place u go to when u randomly want some sushi and don't feel like travelling far or spending a fishing boat-load (zing). The fish is never questionable or bad. The rolls are always freshly made (unless you pick one up from the little open air fridge thing, as those were prob made earlier in the day - duh). You really can't go wrong (unless u order one of those fancy/specialty rolls that have like more than 4 ingredients - I've never ordered one cuz I'm always turned off by those. Nothing against creativity, but this is sushi people... Rice, fish, soy, Wasabi... And some dried seaweed if it's a roll. Let's be real). At the same time, it's not blown your mind It tastes as it should and it costs a reasonable price. Never worry abt freshness, cleanliness or rudeness. The ppl here do what they do, and they do it well. When you can't think of something to eat in the area and want to be relatively healthy (white rice is bad carbs obvi), come here. The previous sushi place that occupied Sushi Time's space was a mediocre take out place. Sushi Time first appeared to be more of the same, but turned out to be a true find. The packaged sushi here is fresh and decent, but real gem is found while sitting at one of the few tables or at the tiny sushi bar. The fish is fantastic, fresh and tasty. The portions are large, while prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and on several occasions the sushi chef made a complimentary appetizer for me...which wouldn't influence me much if not for the fact that each item was wonderful. I've been hesitant to write a review until now for fear that Sushi Time will get even more popular, but I'll just have to patiently wait for my seat. The food is worth it! read more

I ordered the OMG roll, squid salad, some salmon sushi ala cart, and a salmon crunch roll. I really wanted uni but they were out that day...The rolls are really tasty and the fish are fresh. What i like about their rolls are the contrast in texture and the rice has the right amount of vinegar. This place is very busy all the time also, i waited about 20 mins for my takeout order, however people who came after me were told take out order would take 40 mins!!! I am happy to have given sushi time a try, of course this place cannot be compared to an upscale japanese restaurant, but if you craving for some good sushi without going bankrupt, sushi time is the way to go!!! read more

On the outside, Sushi Time is your run-of-the-mill sushi restaurant: nothing fancy, something you could easily overlook. Even on the inside, the restaurant is small--even congested-- with only a few tables and seating by the sushi bar, and little to no decoration. However, what Sushi Time lacks in seating and aesthetics, it makes up for in the quality of its Japanese food. Luckily we just beat the dinner rush and Sushi Time was able to seat our party of 4 on a Saturday night. Although the restaurant seems to thrive on its takeout service more than its in-house dining, the waitress was very attentive and we were able to order relatively quickly. I personally had a difficult time deciding what to get because everything sounded so delicious, but I settled on the Lana Roll and the Benny Roll, both of which are wrapped in soy instead of seaweed. My brother and father split one of the sushi for two plates, and my boyfriend got the sushi box B. Before our food was ready, the restaurant brought out miso soups for everyone on the house, which was incredibly kind. The soups were good and soothed my throat on a cold winter day. The food arrived quickly after, and I never once felt like there was a lull in the service. For the prices we paid, the food was way more than enough--I ordered two rolls and ended up with about 20 pieces! The sushi for two was also more than enough sushi for two people, even if you're considerably hungry. By the end of our meal, everyone was sufficiently filled to the brim with raw fish. The blue crab roll from sushi time is so simple: it's a california roll topped with heaps of blue crab. It is my most favorite special roll of all time! I've tried a number of their other rolls, and they're all wonderful but the blue crab roll is the absolute best! Prices are a bit steeper than your average sushi spot in Queens, but the quality you'll find here surpasses other sushi joints. The people who work here are so sweet also! Based on my two dine-in experiences at Sushi Time. The place is small, but good for a date or a group smaller than 4. The staff is always very friendly and waited about 15mins on a 8:30pm Friday night for a table of 2. What I ordered: Two Special Rolls; crab lovers and a new special (advertised on the table) and a few other regular rolls. Everything tasted to my delight and had me stuffed with leftovers to take home for late-night munchies. The Sweet Salmon Roll and Yellowtail roll were sooo delicious, definitely going to be my favorites. Being my second time here, both times I received a chef's "complimentary" salmon appetizer. Free dish with an already fulfilled meal? No complaints here. I have to say, despite some of the intriguing $10-$13.95 "special rolls", the fish here tasted so fresh that I prefer and will probably order just the fresh simple rolls/sushi next time. No surprise since they're closed on Mondays, which means they're a pretty legit sushi spot! I also noticed their sign said they close at 9pm, I thought it was a bit early for a weekend but they must have meant last seating for dine-in customers only because they sat customers up until the dot, and even after 9pm they were still busy with takeout&delivery orders. A very small place but we were able to be seated at the sushi bar. Between two of us we ordered four special rolls and four regular rolls. Unless stated their regular rolls are eight pieces rather than six. While we waited we were given small miso soups on the house, which is normally a charge. Very nice and not overly salted as many miso soups can be. Then the sushi chefs gave us a small appetizer, also on the house, of sliced sea bass in a citrus sauce. Delicious. Our rolls finally appeared and every one was delicious with the seafood being very fresh. We didn't even use a soy sauce to overpower the flavors of the rolls.
