Well I wrote a review before prior to this new location and the reality is the food is good not great. Cost is above average but service was excellent and new location atmosphere was nice. I have a 2 before but bumped this up since service was excellent and the food wasn't bad. I ordered sushi and seafood soon de bu which still doesn't match my favorite Korean House soon de bu but that said the sushi was good quality and tasted good. So this place had consistently been one of my favorite places to eat at in Eugene. The food is delicious, the decor is a little off-beat, but fun! Until recently, my dinners there had been overwhelmingly positive. In the last couple months, they hired a server (bartender?) named Brandon-- who by far is the biggest thing wrong with the restaurant. I've only been there twice since he was brought on, once about a month ago, and once tonight, and both times he did a bad job. The first time, he was our server (I think?). In our party of four people, seated right next to the bar, only two of my friends got their food in a timely manor. The other two of us waited about an hour for the rest of it, even while asking a few times about the wait. Brandon obviously was having trouble balancing his learning of the POS system, serving us, and making drinks. As someone who used to work in the food industry, I can sympathize with this. We assumed he was new and held our tongues. Regardless, our bubble tea still came much later, and he was still a terrible server. Tonight is where the real trouble began. With the whole COVID-19 situation going on, things were bound to be different than usual, which we were expecting. We called in, Brandon took our order for five people, and we were quoted a 20 minute-ish wait time, so we walked over a bit later. Initially upon getting there, it was apparent that there were a lot of people already waiting for their food (mostly GrubHub employees). It was a little worrying, but a girl in a face mask brought out our bubble tea early while we waited for the food, so that calmed some nerves. After waiting a half hour longer than our quoted time, Brandon finally brought out our food, without a word and without a face mask (the only person we could see without one). We immediately noticed a distinct lack of any small container for the miso soup we had ordered, so we asked him about it and he brought one out. Crisis averted? No. Once we got home, we realized we weren't given the Bento box we had ordered. My buddy was disappointed that they had forgotten his food, so we called in again. Lo and behold, Brandon never even put in our Bento box order. So, the kitchen didn't forget it, Brandon just cannot listen to what his customers are ordering. This time on the phone, the girl from before took our order and quoted us a 35-minute wait time. So not only would we have to walk all the way back to the restaurant, but a large part of our order would be arriving a half hour later, while our initial orders got cold. While all this was getting sorted out, my other friend found a STAPLE in her ginger wasabi. A STAPLE. How? If she had eaten it, this would be a VERY different review. It's extremely dangerous to serve food to people with small sharp metal pieces in it. When we finally went back to the restaurant, not only were we expected to pay more for the food that Brandon had forgotten to record, but were effectively blown off when we brought up our issue with the staple. We had even taken a picture of it before we left home to show them. The only thing they offered to do was to replace the wasabi with a new one? It's insulting to us as customers that they think that an issue like that could be fixed so quickly with so little effort. They were not remorseful, they still expected us to pay for the remaining food, and they did nothing to rectify the situation at all. Ever since Brandon got there, service has fallen from a 10/10 to a 2/10, and we've started finding shrapnel in our food. I had a really horrible experience here. The owner of the place is extremely rude. She rolled her eyes at me and gave me attitude. I do not recommend this place. The food isn't that good either. Pretty good place, no real issues. Food was excellent, price was average (expect $9-12 per entree or per sushi roll). Has a couple decent vegan options. The couple times I've been there it's pretty quiet and not very busy (even weekends). Only complaint is that their house soda isn't always the same, I had the same soda two separate times and they were vastly different, waitress didn't seem to care. Not sure if this was an isolated incident but it definitely made an impression. read more

But with a total of three customers in the place (outnumbered by afternoon staff) I'd think an appetizer and a cocktail could arrive at the table in under 15 minutes. I am not one to leave reviews for things or take the time out of my day to tell people to tell people to be weary of an establishments service, but even with the extenuating/ unusual circumstances of Valentine's Day and the leniency that I treat service workers with (I have worked in the service industry and understand how difficult of a job it is, especially on a holiday during rush hour) the service was shocking and extremely disappointing. I was here with a group of friends literally less than 24 hours ago, and everyone was delighted by the service that Sushi Seoul provided us. Unfortunately, tonight we received service that was basically the exact opposite. When we arrived, we were cut in line twice and the hostess seemed (please excuse BUT HEED my dramatic language) mindless and lost. A party arrived and was seated 15 minutes after us, but while we were sitting at an empty table (no attention was given to us after we were seated) ready to order, they had already received their water. When we finally left, the hostess waved us out with a "Bye!" as if she was not using the entirety of her troglodyte level intellectual processing power to stand in the middle of the restaurant where she words and literally physically flail her arms around standing in one spot, ignoring our table. read more

We ordered a California, philly and dragon roll along with salmon and unagi nigiri and tuna sashimi. We were starving and ate what they gave us with an exception to the sashimi. All the rolls had so much cucumber in order to be more economically sound on the owners part. It was definitely not worth the 60$ bill. The worst part was our sashimi was not fresh and tasted funny. We asked the server to take it off the bill, as we barely touched it (just took a bite to try it). The sushi chef/ owner insisted it was fresh. I asked for him to come speak with us. He was rude and did not offer to make us something new or comp the inedible sashimi. (Seriously gross). After him arguing he made a compromise to only charge us for half of the sashimi (which we sent back because it was so bad). Our server was really nice and did the best she could. I also realized the seat I was sitting on was an old car seat from a bus with a seat belt on it. The other sushi chef gave us dirty looks for about five minutes after we complained. Overall, the food was honestly gross, but we were so Hungry and didn't want to complain. The 16$ disgusting sashimi was the last straw. The rude owner, cheapness of the rolls, and hilarious decor will never ever bring us or ANYONE we know back. To the owner; I hope the 5$ it took for you to put forth the sashimi was worth losing future customers and terrible word of mouth to anyone we know. read more

Went here because it was almost the only sushi place open at 7 on a Sunday night in Eugene. The staff is very nice and friendly. The decor is funky and weird, which was very cool, but the floors were very sticky. All the appetizers were very yummy and well made. They have a very large variety of foods here. Rolls, ramen, bento boxes, you name it. Personally, I had the shrimp and vegetable tempura (the vegetable tempura was normal, but the shrimp seemed to be panko breaded). As well as the B-52 and Red Moon rolls. Would recommend! read more

Sushi Seoul is now my new favorite casual sushi place in Eugene! I had left a not so good review for their restaurant when they were on Willakenzie road but there have been some major improvements since they started at their new location. I have been on the hunt for a sushi restaurant that doesn't break the bank and after lunch today I can't wait to go back. Sushi Seoul offers Japanese and Korean food - all of which items look delicious! When we sat at our table we giggled and reminisced over the lava lamp and swooned over the old door turned into a distressed table. We had never been inside this building when it was Belly so it was a new experience for us altogether. We love the style of their bar and the dining area is cozy yet eccentric. The woman serving us was so friendly and warm and we loved interacting with her. We ordered the Dragon Roll, Texas roll and the chicken yaki soba noodles. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the seasoning was spot on. We could see and taste the freshness of the fish and liked that the sauces on the dragon roll were not overpowering to the flavor of the seafood itself. It was so hard to choose from their menu because everything sounded so good and as soon as we turned to the Korean food page we looked at each other with an "uh oh" look because it made it even harder to decide! I really want to go back and try their Bibimbop bowl, a bento box and their ramen. I also plan to try out a cocktail or two next time. You should definitely give this place a try for lunch or dinner but keep in mind they have some great affordable lunch specials! Street parking can be a pain but if you come during the week it's not too hard to find a spot and I think there is a parking lot across the street but you have to pay to park. read more

Sushi Seoul has moved to the new Belly location in downtown. I can't speak to the sushi menu...I ordered from the Korean side. The owner told me that she makes the kimchi herself. It was the most delicious kimchi I've ever had...and I work for another Asian restaurant in town. So that's saying something. I think these folks will be an amazing restaurant in this space. I highly recommend them. Try the bibimbap. I'm sure the maki rolls are good, but the Korean dishes are where you'll find the passion. read more

One of my favorite dishes from around the world is Korean, so I've been eating at Korean restaurants for as long as I can remember. Sushi Seoul was...meh. I came in and something wasn't right because I was the only one customer. In my experiences, I've almost always entered into crowded Korean restaurants. Nevertheless i pressed on. I ordered the spicy pork (thinly sliced meats unfortunately), it was delicious but it's just the serving size wasn't typical of the serving sizes of most Korean restaurants and for the price of $12.49. What got me even more "meh" was the side dishes (Banchan in Korean) was only three: Kimchi, pickled cucumbers, and chopped pickled carrots...THATS IT, each of which can fit on two fingers. So small. And then the waitress had to be reminded by her boss to check on me, the ONE and ONLY customer, so it's not like she was overwhelmed or anything. So she came and asked me "Was everything ok?" and went back to the bar area, wiping down menu-folders...that's it. No refilling my water while eating spicy food, no refilling the empty side dishes, no extra napkins provided as I was sweating a bit wiping my forehead and mouth. So the customer service was not good at all. I hope the owner sees this critique and start making improvements because Sushi Seoul was pretty disappointing and a waste of my time & hard earned money. They packed hot food with the sushi that made everything turn out lukewarm (and very well could've spoiled the raw fish), ignored my notes on the order, made my order incorrectly, and the rolls themselves were badly executed. My fiance and I stopped here before our way up to Portland. We were kind of on a time crunch as it was pretty late, and we needed to check in to a hotel in Portland by 12 a.m. We were in for a rude awakening when it took 50 minutes after ordering to get one of our two sushi rolls. The service was foul, and they never served us our second roll. We ended up having to leave when we were met with terribly rude management who gave us a check for $12.50, and then without saying a word, changed it to $16.50, which we found out when we got our change back. We've liked the food before, but yelp shows the hours wrong, the website took our takeout lunch order at noon, charged us, said it would be ready in 20 minutes--then we showed up to get it and found them closed. Emailed to cancel; no way to leave a phone message. Idiots made our whole order anyway at 6 pm, instead of refunding us or checking to see if we still wanted it.
