My only real complaint was that the chopsticks could cause real harm: they are super splintery, and despite the usual friction rub to remove imperfections in the wood, the chopsticks continued to splinter. Every one of them that came with our order was like that. We threw them all out after checking them. Far too dangerous to risk using them. This review comes with a history. We have been patrons here for 6 years. The food has always been excellent and fairly priced and the service has been great. This place has suffered a bit during the pandemic and in the last year has struggled with staffing etc. We understood the first few times it said it was open online and no one answered the phone. Then, one evening I was picking up an online order an was seriously disrespected by an employee because she didn't want to do car service that night. She was having a very bad day so I let it go. A month or so later another online pick up order was placed and we called to make a change. . .no answer. Not the last problem, but we have let the issues go because of the great food and our interest in supporting local business. Tonight takes the prize. After going to the website to place an online order, I received an email confirmation and sent my husband to go pick it up. What he found was a note on the door. Please see the attached photos. Don't know what happened here this place went from Hero to zero , 45 min to get food, I had to get up and get my own silverware. The Tonkats / deep fried pork ,was extremely hard and dry. Always a great go to with many rolls to choose from. Fun fish tank for the kids to gaze at. The mussel appetizers are fresh, flavorful and appealing. The seaweed salad was crunchy, fresh and salty. The miso soup had added greens and was one of the best bowls I've had. I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical coming here for lunch today as I've never been a big sushi fan. Mainly because I've never had actual, good quality sushi. Until now. I ordered the California roll (with REAL crab!!) and shrimp tempura roll, and from the first bite, I was impressed. The quality is there, the flavor is on point, and the presentation was clean and artistic. Even the atmosphere felt nice and authentic. Having moved here from out of state, and from a location with several great sushi bars, I was glad to find this place. My wife and I have rely enjoyed their lunch bento boxes. Ive had several of their trolls, and can say they are prepared well. The rice is not dry, nor is there a ton of it, a good balance of rice and filling. My favorite is the kiss of fire roll, pretty spicy. Order the seaweed salad and you get a generous portion, seasoned just right. This spot is all right. I wasn't expecting much since its Longview. I got the chirashi bowl which is basically raw fish over a bed of rice with wasabi and ginger in a corner. The presentation was ok and the cuts were fairly generous. The fish wasn't cold either which is a good sign. But unfortunately what I got was subpar, which is what I'm concerned about. For 20 bucks, I was hoping for some more flavor in the fish. I wouldn't order this again but I'm glad I tried it. You'll definitely be a little more than content finishing it. If you're not into raw fish. They have lots of sushi rolls, bento boxes with teriyaki chicken, and even some noodle dishes. They gave me a side of miso soup and some cucumber salad garnished with sesame seeds which was nice. If you're not picky and want to take a date here, it wouldn't be a bad choice. The miso was iffy, salad wasnt out flavor profile but the sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken and tempura were amazing! ! Restaurant was clean and service was good. I have worked in food services over the years and know the educate and professional conduct and working a business For a professional setting. I paid my bill with my debit visa card and noticed on my on line bank statement that an extra dollar was charged for a unapproved tip. This is the reason why I give this business a one star because of the dishonesty and disregard for its customers lives and situations they may be living through. They just care about money money money!!! Who knows what else she does that is dishonest to sabotage a dining out experience for customers. There are definitely more options for eating out Japanese/teriyaki cuisine other than at Sushi Sakura I can think of four other businesses locally in Cowlitz county, WA. This occurrence happened approximately three months ago. It makes me feel sick that people think that they can rob people. God forbid they make a mistake and charge you for something you didn't get because if you bring it up to them afterwards you become the devil himself. They shorted us an entree and refused to make it right and hammered down a unprofessional arrogant attitude to go with it at the mention and their food is definitely not as good as their attitude may suggest. We asked a series of questions that proved their guilt and then the tempers took flight once they realized they got caught in a lie. We believe they are taking advantage of fact when you order from DoorDash and there is a "mistake", DoorDash itself will reimburse you for that "mistake". They are purposely shorting food from YOU that YOU paid for, blaming DoorDash and having DoorDash cover the difference of their "mistake" financially. Essentially they get paid and don't have to send product that's paid for... nice gimmick huh? Read through the bad reviews thoroughly and you might see a constant of the same and other tasteless discrepancies when ordering out. I have been coming to this establishment for many years. Tonight I went and expected the same experience that I have always had. I was totally wrong! My lady's meal came 20 minutes after my sushi had been served. The soft shelled crab in the spider roll that I ordered was over cooked and cold. My lady's chicken cutlet was cold, overcooked and rubbery. She asked to have the peanut sauce heated, and it came back a coagulated mess. If I were able to notify the owner of this eatery, I would tell them to fire the entire staff working on 8/26/22, or else risk loosing this entire establishment. I ordered sushi and the rice was old and the avocado was really brown like everything was really old. This restaurant gets 3 stars because of something that will always ruin a meal. When one person gets their food and has enough time to eat their entire meal before the other person gets their food. Good food extremaly slow service I sat at my table for 20 minutes before anyone came to ask us what we were drinking

Had the worst day ever so I decided to do my first door dash. Waited an hour, called the restaurant and they said it had been gone for 30+ minutes. After checking all my neighbors' houses, it was clear I was not getting my sushi and the driver had left it in some random location or eaten herself. Sakura had called the driver several times and Diana did not respond or leave the location of the food even though it was a single house and the directions were very clear. After 30 minutes of dealing with door dash I called Sushi Sakura back and reordered. They quoted me 30 minutes but when I showed up 20 minutes later they had 2 generous sushi rolls and a free appetizer for my trouble. EVEN though they were not at fault at all. It was so nice, and unnecessary and good service is very hard to find. 10/10 recommend Sushi Sakura. 0/10 recommend Doordash. read more
