Sushi sake 01.17.2026 It starts when we call to make reservations the night before. We reach the restaurant via phone through our hotel's concierge, confirm the reservation for next evening, and go on about our day. Fast forward to the time of our reservation, we show up on time and wait for at least 5 minutes before any host greets us. Confused we attempt to check in for our booking, none was recorded. No table was available, but there was bar seating so we settled. During our visit the wait staff never took our drink orders and water arrived half way through the meal. We ordered a couple roles, one we were pretty happy with the other two were below average and also had different ingredients than what was listed on the menu. Overall we seem to have caught this establishment on a bad night, and probably won't be returning. read more

We were there weekend of the Kentucky Derby 2025 and it was delicious. Seated right away. Staff was attentive but slowed when got busy. Felt like they were also waiting tables inside Roxy which was very busy. Ambiance is out in front of the Roxy restaurant and if you blink you'll miss it. Small enough that you can watch the chefs without sitting at the counter. Favorite sushi restursunt in Reno hands down . Reminds me of home (Vegas) with quality fish and true Japanese style sushi cuisine and rolls. Even though basic , I will judge a sushi restursunt by their spicy tuna rolls and this as of now has proven to be the best in town! I always sit on the counter as the chef is very friendly and funny. We always have a fun time with the chef and people sitting next to us on the counter. It is very friendly atmosphere here. And I love the sushi. Thick cut, small rice and fresh sashimi. Sake selection is descent. We like Kyoto sake and even took one bottle back to our room (they'll bag it up for you to take back to your room). Friendly service. Came here Saturday 6/24 and was seated quickly at the sushi bar. After that no server came by to ask if we wanted drinks, appetizers, nor soup. We ordered 2 rolls and one order of sashimi directly from the Sushi Chef. I was informed that the deep-fried Godzilla roll was premade therefore I couldn't make a gosh substitution; this roll tasted stale and the fish was definitely over cooked; waste of a sushi roll and $; I do NOT recommend. However the salmon popper roll was AMAZING! Jalepenos, cream cheese, and seafood just go together. I sure I could have eaten two salmon-popper rolls cause it was so good. We also ordered a tuna sashimi which was fresh and yummy. Eventually the area was packed once we were finished with our food and there was a wait to be seated by several parties. We waited a good 10 minutes for a server to bring our bill. I'm not knocked the servers on the wait as it seemed that they were also covering the Roxy Steakhouse. Just be prepared to wait. One of the better sushi bars in town. Keep in mind, it's a small footprint in the casino, only one large table, a number of 2-tops and a decent size bar. We had a party of 5 last evening, had to wait for the bar to open up, as there was only one other table that would accommodate us and it was taken. Once seated, service was quick, sushi chefs made our orders timely. The fish is uber fresh (isn't that what you should expect?!). They don't do AYCE anymore and the ala carte prices are a little high, but the rolls are huge and the nigiri pieces good size. I have a big appetite when it comes to sushi, but I was more than satisfied with the Mt. Fuji and G-Spot rolls (both highly recommended) along with a salmon skin hand roll. No rice belly tonight!! Again, once you're seated, fast, friendly service and a decent menu of choices. As with other sushi places, the bar is quicker and you can ask the chefs to make something special...them be creative, you be adventurous! read more

What we got didn't match the menu. It was raw uncooked veggies. No problem. The menu states vegetable tempura/avocado/teriyaki cooked roll. It wasn't cooked or tempura? Sushi combo. Look at the California roll in this plate and the California roll by itself on the other plate. Kind of explains the rest of this plate. California roll was ok. Salmon/tuna/hamachi/eel was not bad. Not the freshest but not bad. Shrimp and seared tuna will pass on next time. Didn't like it. After eating Kanpai then sushi sake I'd have to easily pick Kanpai and adjust my casino quality ratings to favor Kanpai. Similar service but slightly better. read more

It's hard to get a hold of them for starters they have no direct phone line and the operator who sounds like he's in a call center overseas can't even head me because of a bad connection on their end and doesn't even know the restaurants in the business. Got a cabbage/cuke salad and the $29 sashimi and cal roll plate. Its shareable. The sashimi pieces were cut thick and large, but were separated by the grain easily to make smaller pieces. The Cal roll had a lot of real crab and luscious avocado pieces tightly rolled. Liked that it had more crab than rice. Served by a friendly and talkative sushi chef that prepared our plate.
