It came with crispy tempura-battered duck, fresh mixed sprouts and grapefruit, pine nuts and tahini topped with drizzles of blended hoisin sauce, chu hou sauce, and plum sauce. Greens were great, but duck was a tad salty for my taste. I got the Truffle Wok Seared Noodles with Scallops (lunch portion). It was recommended by our server, Cameron. They truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. You can tell they genuinely care about every guest, and that same hospitality carries through their entire team. After we ordered our entrées, other staff handled nearly everything: another young man refilled our water, a woman cleared our dishes, and the hostess checked on our meal. Amador's next check-in came at the end, when he asked whether we wanted the check. The hostess was attentive, and we would have preferred to direct our tip to her. Instead, our bill included a mandatory 20% gratuity, with tax applied to that charge--bringing its effective cost to approximately 22% of the food and beverage total. In my view, a mandatory charge is a service fee, regardless of whether it's labeled a "gratuity." Being required to pay it despite such inattentive service left a poor impression. One star for the service and mandatory charge.

If you've never tried Noodle Street before, definitely check out their menu and give their noodles a try. This particular location was clean, the staff was nice, and the wait wasn't long when I arrived. I would definitely come back again! I'd like to add one more detail. While I was waiting for my food, one of the staff members, possibly the manager, Justin, came over and asked if I'd like to have a small bowl of broth on the side. I said yes and was impressed by that offer. Why? This young man understood that I had ordered only the beef roll, which is a dry dish. Having a little warm broth on the side made it much easier and more enjoyable to eat. I had water, though, but I personally never drink water before or after my meal, so the broth was definitely a perfect complement to the beef roll. This is the first time in my Noodle Street eating history that I've been offered something simple to enhance my dining experience. Very clean and well decorated space. Nice AC on a hot summer day. Do note, the window seat is a little weird because you can't lean back (No back rest). I wanted something light so I got a small Tom Kha Chicken Soup and a Thai tea, which I asked to be less sweet and they obliged. The soup was very sour, which I didn't expect since it didn't say that in the menu description. I knew Tom Yum is sweet and sour but didn't expect that from a curry soup. Also, 1/3 of the soup were the spices (that you don't eat) so it felt really small of a portion after I removed those pieces. My friend gave me some of their extra rice and it was still too sour. The Thai iced tea was a little bland, probably since I asked for it to be less sweet, so I don't recommend doing that. I think less sweet also meant less milk so it wasn't very creamy. Still refreshing though. In my photo, you can see the color difference between my less sweet thai iced tea and my friend's normal one. Mine was kind of brown. His was the normal bright orange. I also tried my partner's pad Thai and normally I don't like pad Thai because it's too sweet, but this one was on the less sweet side so it was quite decent. I tried my partner's Thai Iced Coffee, which we ordered out of curiosity. She said it's basically normal coffee but more sweet. To my surprised, it was not sweet at all, like zero sugar. It tasted like a more burnt americano with a splash of milk. We were not fans. We parked about 1/2 mile away because street parking is free and we don't mind walking. Parking structure is available nearby too, for only $1 for the first 2 hours. Bathrooms are shared among three restaurants, but they are very clean.

So, I went inside and got the fried chicken with macaroni salad. A few mintues later, I added a katsu musubi to the order. This is not fast-food. The wait is real. About 12 minutes. I then had probably about 10 minutes of driving before I sat down to eat. The fried chicken is delicious and has a great crispy/crunchy skin. There is a faint sweetness that coats the chicken. The meat was not super plump like some national-chain places (I think those places brine-injected the chicken). Depending on your preference, this might feel too dry to you. Their dipping sauce for the chicken is very tasty. If they just sold that in bottles, I'd come just to buy that for use at home! Speaking of preferences, the macaroni salad is also well made, but it's simple and might be disappointing if you're expecting some kind of flavor kick. I liked it very much, because it is in the style of the basic macaroni salad -- someone described it as going home to Hawaii for them -- and I think that's what it is. Portions were enough to split into two meals. So I had half of my chicken and the mac salad. I had planned to also only eat half of the musubi. But it was delicious and had a nice crunch which I'm sure would not have held up being kept in the fridge. I really enjoyed the musubi on its own, but also enjoyed taking turns with bites with that sauce added on. I stored the rest of the chicken and mac salad in the fridge and then had them for dinner 6 hours later. Despite being in the fridge, the chicken still had a bit of a crunchy bite to it - it wasn't a mushy soggy mess. Very friendly service. This is not a sit-down place you go to for a dining experience - just a solid place to get food to go that will be delicious.
