Happy Hour menu as of 4/16/2026
Carrie A.

Are we so fresh and delicious. We love coming here for happy hour because it is such a good deal. Ask them to see you outside because the courtyard is gorgeous! And Christina is on point with service.

Cool location you can walk around and check out before or after eating.

Love this place. Definitely a nice romantic spot. Food was amazing! We enjoyed the White Lotus, Tuna Jalapeño, Katana, soft shell crab, and my FAVE-GENSAI Roll. We also ordered the Pork Belly Fried Rice ( wasn't on the menu) and that was delicious too - I only wish they put more kimchi , and pork belly, and I think if the skin was crispy it would taste even better! The fried egg was perfect- crispy around the edges and runny in the middle Their Tropical Hibiscus cocktail was yummy! Sweet, tart, fruity, and strong!! Service was wonderful. The staff is friendly and attentive. Located in a cool area with other shops to walk around after dinner and take photos.. And you can scan a QR code at your table to pay.

Oh. My. Gosh. I've lived in Pasadena for so long and have never thought to try this place out. The albacore sushi was INCREDIBLE! I ordered 2 more, so flavorful, no soy sauce needed. The Brussels chips were amazing as well, just a tad salty but still good! Cute place, perfect for a date night or girls night. Customer service was also amazing.

All around good time! Stumbled upon this place by accident. Had plans to meet up with some friends at another restaurant nearby but it wasn't open yet, so we decided to come here for dinner and cocktails. We sat outside but the inside layout is very cool, slightly dim, full liquor and sushi bar nice seating arrangement. The serving staff was great from start to finish. We ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner, all brought to the table in a timely manner. We tried several items, seaweed salad, shishito peppers, spicy edamame, eel sashimi, spicy tuna rolls, shrimp fried rice and Chilean sea bass (my favorite). Everything was delicious. For cocktails, Ueshima Old Fashioned, Toki Tamashi and Tropical Hibiscus until round 2 where Shoman Glory was ordered for all, a refreshing tequila cucumber blend. Awesome time.

After watching a documentary movie about the legendary Japanese chef Nobu, I suddenly craved some American-influenced sushi, and Sushi Roku came to mind, as I had noticed their restaurant while visiting Las Vegas and have heard a lot about their Pasadena location. Nobu so far still remains my top choice when it comes to trendy, American-influenced Japanese cuisine, as I have had great experiences at their original Beverly Hills location and their weekend brunch buffet. Still, I was curious to see how Sushi Roku would compare. Since I know that American style sushi targets a very different clientele from traditional Japanese sushi or omakase, I went in with an open mind and adjusted expectations accordingly. I made a reservation and visited on a weekend afternoon. We were seated quickly. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Service was prompt, though one of the cocktails we ordered turned out to be unavailable that day, a small disappointment, and it turned out to be a sign of a less-than-satisfying dining experience, especially since the cocktail we wanted was featured all over Yelp photos, that was actually one of the main reasons I decided to visit, but unfortunately, it wasn't available. The sashimi appetizer was just okay, as the fish slices were so thin that there wasn't much flavor and texture from the fish itself, with most of the taste coming from the oil and sauce. The sushi set didn't stand out either. The sushi rice was not cooked and prepared well. While the nigiri looked decent, the freshness of the fish wasn't at the premium level you'd expect for the price. The chirashi bowl was even more disappointing. Poor variety and thin slices of fish, and the same tasteless sushi rice. I would definitely suggest skipping that dish and perhaps trying a sushi roll or a cooked item instead. Surprisingly, the fried rice was actually not bad. In my opinion, the best way to enjoy Sushi Roku is to treat it more like an izakaya style restaurant, even though it presents itself as a sushi place. Overall, food quality is the foundation of any successful restaurant brand, and while Sushi Roku may have enjoyed its glory days in the past, competition today is much stronger in the same price range. I might return for a drink and some light bites considering its prime location and great dining environment and service, but it's not a place I'd spend too much on for the sushi itself. I am hoping Sushi Roku Pasadena can be improved soon, even if it doesn't quite achieve the sophistication of its more famous peers, but it still has the potential to be a better sushi restaurant again.

popcorn shrimp tempura - yum

Thought it was time for an update. We haven't been here in a while so I was worried that it wouldn't be as good. No need to worry, it was great as always. I'll start with this: Happy hour is awesome. We had two orders of the popcorn shrimp which were still amazing! We also got the hamachi serrano, the tuna crudo, the katana roll, and the Brussels sprout chips. Everything was great, but special shout out to the Brussels chips. They were really a stand out. Restaurant was beautiful as always and actually a little brighter than before.

Beef Rib Eye Wrapped Asparagus

Really good meal here. We were walking by hungry and just ended up here out of pure luck. Bacon wrapped shrimp was incredible. Ribeye wrapped asparagus was good. I felt like the asparagus overpowered the meat a bit, but it was still a good idea. I respect trying new things I haven't seen on a menu before. We also got the sushi plate and a roll (I forget which one) and all of it was excellent and fresh. Really good drinks too. Excellent service. Place is nice inside good atmosphere. Theres also a patio area that looked like it would be good.

Amazing interior with multiple seating options. Our food was excellent, and the service was friendly and swift. They were great with our kiddo. They even brought her milk. We had the sushi platter with crab hand roll. Katana roll. Bacon-wrapped shrimp. Rib eye wrapped asparagus. Pork gyoza (the best gyoza I've ever had, and I've had maaaaany). Their mocktails are actual mocktails (mixed with Ritual products), instead of just fruity water or seltzer. We didn't have room for dessert, but I saw some inventive things being brought around. Totally worth a visit, and great for small/medium/larger groups.

Lamb chop was so delicious

After the Rosebowl Half Marathon, my friend and I looked for a lunch spot near our cars at the Parson's parking complex. As luck would have it, sushi roku was about a block away and we decided to give it a try. The ambiance is so beautiful yet calming. We immediately thought the prices would be expensive, but were blown away because there were many options for $20 seafood meals. We had handrolls, nigiri, and lambchop skewer. Again, we were blown away by the proportions and large amount of fish each dish had. The lambchop was so juicy and succulent. Deliciously cooked! At the end of the meal, came another surprise, the server said there's a 20% off discount for dining so early in the day. We had a wonderful time. The service was very kind. The ambiance was fancy. The food was delicious and all at a great price! Looking forward to enjoying a meal here again!

Parked on the street, metered but after 6p it's free. It's ok to park a bit farther, as it's old town and nice to walk around. Safe. Hip cool ambience. Staff is nice and helpful. Nicely plated and great presentation. The Brussels sprout chips very delicious. Spicy tuna on crispy rice is pretty good. Sushi and nigiri were ok. Filet mignon was very tender and melted in your mouth. Mashed potatoes were ok. Yellowtail sliced in ponzu sauce was very good. Beef eye wrapped asparagus was interesting. The asparagus was nice and crunchy. Jidori chicken in teriyaki sauce was surprisingly good. Tender and flavorful. Great meal. Hot green to warm up the tummy and settle it all down. The cotton candy fire dessert was very chill, especially for kids you watch the cotton candy burn.

Did their dine LA option and it was of great value they served a nice variety of rolls and nigiris. Brussel sprouts chips was a nice snack as we were waiting for the entree to come out. Would skip on their baked crab roll and get there yellowtail jalepeno roll again. All fish was fresh and tasted great. Space is intimate and they had a live DJ which created a fun space to dine and enjoy a weekend.

I love sushi Roku. The vibes in this restaurant is very cute and can even be a romantic date place. The ambience is on point and the sushi is pretty good. Love coming here with girlfriends to catch up and have drinks. It's located in the alley in Old Town so it may be tricky to locate at first but worth it. Service is always great and our servers are very helpful. I would definitely recommend!

Valerie G.

Great food and drinks so we had to come back again!! Love everything we ordered. Always tasty, always promising. Good service. And I still can't get over how elegant the design is inside.

Price for omalase?

They only have signature style sushi. No Omakase.

Is there a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day? If so, what's the price? And is there an option to not do the prix fixe menu if we don't want to?

Hi Gabe, we will be offering a few specials for that evening along with our regular dining menu. Please give us a call should you need reservations. We look forward to seeing you here. Thank you!

Both were very refreshing, and I really loved the sauce on the bakka salmon in combination with the mint leaves. Since I'm a huge seafood lover, I ordered the Thai royal curry with lobster tail, lime steamed Chilean sea bass and the royal crown fried rice. This was my first time trying curry and I found it delicious, I'd love to visit Star Leaf again specifically for this dish. I really enjoyed the texture of the fish roe on top of the fried rice - I've never had something like this before. I also ordered the truffle wok seared noodles with beef (I liked the mushrooms in this dish). For dessert, I had the Vietnamese coffee flan and the pink mekong. I loved the presentation of the pink Mekong, and the various fruits were yummy. As for the atmosphere, it was very cozy and I took a lot of nice photos in the front of the restaurant by the pond. This restaurant would be perfect for a romantic date night or a lunch with the girls. The service was great - everything was very timely and detail-oriented. Everyone was kind and attentive, I felt very welcome.

I was able to find metered parking on the street; not sure why but I didn't need to pay that day! Upon arriving, we were fortunate that there was no wait time and got seated right away. Their menu was quite extensive so we took some time to browse before we ordered. They had a main menu and also a special menu. We pointed out some allergies to the staff and he helped us work around it. The orders came out quickly and he checked in on us frequently to see if we were okay. Great service! Bakka Wild Salmon - This salmon had a lot of things going on for it, in a good way! The combination of flavors felt very refreshing, especially on a hot day. The lime and basil played a big part there. Crispy Short Rib with Lime - Even initially before coming here, this was the dish that caught our attention. I will admit the portion size was a bit smaller than I expected and was even skeptical when it came out. However, without a doubt, this was the highlight of the visit. As someone that loves savory foods, this really hit the spot. The burst of flavors settles in right away. Truffle Wok Seared Noodles - We wanted to pick this noodle dish as a balance to the protein dishes. It did its job but it tasted okay. Not something that stood out. Slow-Drip Vietnam Coffee Flan - I liked the caramel that was layered on the flan, it was crunchy and added a nice texture. It was a nice presentation but tasted okay. Thai Tea - This was my personal drink. It was a standard Thai tea but came with ice cream on top. It was not too sweet but didn't stand out compared to other items. Strawberry Pandan Lemonade - This was my girlfriend's drink. I had a small sip here but found it was refreshing and not too sweet. However, I didn't really get any pandan flavor, mainly strawberry. When it all comes together, it was a good experience. The interior of the story is more dimly lit and felt like a romantic night dinner, despite being the middle of the day. The dishes had a balance of standard and hidden gems. Everything was more than sufficient for two people to share. Service was great and very attentive. Will come back for the Crispy Short Ribs! American Express is accepted here.

Let me tell you, this place has beautiful selection of bone marrows. The bone marrow was fatty, buttery, and melts in your mouth with the sliced baguette. But the flavor profile worked and loved every minute of it. Park in the raymond parking structure nearby, easy parking.

It seemed quite popular, so we decided to give it a try. To start, we ordered the Bali Chilaquiles (Asian-style nachos). They came out pretty quickly and were absolutely delicious! Highly recommend those if you go. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience completely went downhill. We also ordered the Passion Orange Guava French Toast, but it never arrived. While we were sitting there waiting, three different hosts came by to check if we were still waiting for something. After a long 30-minute wait, we just couldn't wait any longer and decided to cancel it. When we told our server to cancel the French toast and just bring us the check, he suddenly rushed out with the French toast immediately. It was obvious it had been sitting around because it wasn't fresh or hot. We asked for a to-go box, but the biggest shock came when we looked at the bill, they had already automatically included a 20% tip. Even though the nachos were amazing, the terrible service wait time and the automatic gratuity for a party of two left a really bad taste in my mouth. I won't be coming back.

This time I went for lunch (they have great lunch specials) and the place was busy and buzzing. Note that here they put sautéed purple onions in their pad Thai. Nevertheless the food we ate was fantastic. I would love to get bottles of their sauces to cook with at home. The summer wraps are largely lettuce and Thai mint - I prefer having a bit more carrot and cuke in them, but I'm not the boss. The spinach peanut with tofu had epic spinach and tasty tofu. The Chinese broccoli in the Pad See Ew was nice and crisp. I guess there is parking in the lot in the back of the store. Seems to be marked for specific stores.
