I've been coming to Sushi Payce since 2022. Their AYCE is absolutely worth every penny. You cannot go wrong with any of their appetizers. Everything feels fresh and delicious. The service is efficient and attentive. The staff here are constantly working to make your experience comfortable. The restaurant does have peak hours so I recommend making a reservation on a Friday or Saturday night. read more

Sushi Payce - Sashimi, miso soup, Fried Chicken Wings, and Agedash Tofu - Sushi Bars Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This is my first-choice for affordable ayce sushi in Chicago. I've gone here for about 5 times already and can't believe how good the price is for the quality they offer! I love how fresh their seafood is. I always get a ton of nigiri; their aburi selections (half torched pieces of fish) is super savory and melts in your mouth, their salmon roe/ikura is plump and sweet, and their squid/ika is fresh and gets sweeter the more you chew it (unlike the rubbery and fishy ones when the squid isn't fresh). Their fried oysters is hands down one of the best I've ever had. It's very moist on the inside, bursting with fresh oyster juices. I recently tried their baby octopus and seaweed salad appetizer and am pleasantly surprised by how soft and succulent the octopus taste! The rice to fish ratio is also awesome. They don't pack their rolls and nigiri with rice to fill up their customers. They have happy hour every weekday from 4-6pm with a delicious selection of cocktails. You buy one and get a second one for $1. My friends and I already experienced it twice and had a blast every time! The only suggestions I have is consistency with rice. One time the rice was too salty and mushy on a busy Friday night, and the other time it was too hard and under-seasoned. The wait to order between rounds was also pretty long when it's really busy. But all in all this is my favorite ayce sushi payce in Chicago! Really good quality for the price! read more

Mostly because of service. Me and my finance sat there for about an hour, and not once were we asked if we needed anything. We had to pursue a waiter for drinks, and our check! Ridiculous. Do better! Food was great though. read more

wonderful service and great food. Definitely would come back again. More people need to come!

Such a fun ambiance, service was wonderful and sushi was delicious. We did the AYCE for around $33 each. It was beyond worth it for the appetizers alone. Will be coming back soon! read more

Came here with a very large group and had one of the best all-you-can-eat sushi experiences I've ever had. Frankly, my expectations for AYCE places are quite low, but the fish tasted fresh, there was a wide-ranging and tasty menu, and the service was EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating. The interior is also very pretty and I could see it as a great setting both for large groups and date nights. Compared to other AYCE places in Chicago, the pricing was standard. I think the only thing that I would nitpick was the sushi rice - it was a little on the sticky side and also a little dense, but I think that's to be expected for AYCE places in general. Overall if I ever wanted to eat an astounding amount of sushi in one sitting, I'd definitely come back here, though! read more

This is definitely the most premium AYCE experience in Chicago and felt worth it if you're a sushi fan and can eat a decent amount! Everything from apps, rolls, nigiri, and poke sashimi were all excellent! This would be a great place to take friends who don't enjoy raw foods because there's bound to be something that they'll find on the menu and enjoy! For apps, my favorite were the crab rangoon (super thin wrappers). The rocked shrimp had a heavier batter than I would've preferred but the sauce was very tasty. Miso soup was solid and properly flavored unlike most other places that dilute it so much it tastes like water. The salmon tartar was something I'd pass on next time (it was soaked in a super sweet mango dressing) which did not suit the salmon well. For sashimi/poke, the yellowtail jalapeno was the highlight of my night. The salmon crudo and aburi white tuna were too heavily peppered on the outside for my taste. Rolls wise, they were all really tasty, proportioned well, and the perfect bite each time. The My Girl roll was probably my favorite which really surprised me as I'm usually a salmon gal. The only thing missing from this AYCE is dessert, but honestly, I wasn't missing it because the sushi and apps were so satisfying. Very excited to come back and hope that they keep up this quality! read more

Will keep coming back its fantastic best AYCE in city. I think its got the most robust options at a fantastic price point

First of all, the service was wonderful. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious. We sat in the part of the restaurant that seemed like an atrium. We thoroughly enjoyed that with the sun shining through. The tablet concept was new to me, but I liked it. Makes ordering an extra drink or dessert so much easier. It was my first time there but definitely not my last. read more

Nice place to get AYCE :) the lunch menu is somewhat smaller than the dinner menu, but considering the price difference I think it is very worth it. We got there right when it opened on a Friday and there was no wait, so I think lunchtimes are definitely a good time to go. The fish was quite fresh. I loved having miso soup and cucumber salad as sides. Unless you already know your favorite fish I would get one of each for the first round and be more selective in subsequent rounds. Would recommend! The drink was pretty good too :) (not included in AYCE) read more

Sushi payce is a beautiful space with a great selection of all-you-can-eat sushi! We made a Friday night reservation via Yelp for the AYCE dinner. We were greeted by welcoming and friendly staff and our orders came out in a timely matter. The menu on their website is reflective of what they have to offer - we had a few appetizers and a signature roll but our main focus was on the nigiri. The appetizers were good, however, not my favorite when compared to other apps at other AYCE spots, but it's also not my main focus when it comes to AYCE. My favorites here though are the Cheese Baked Mussels and the Hamachi Kama. The Ika salad was disappointing - here, it is lightly topped on a heavy bed of seaweed salad - other places usually only give me the Ika salad alone. The Yellowtail Jalapeño poke sashimi was great but with the poke items, you have to order 1 sushi roll per poke item. The signature roll, Dragon on Fire, was good and I appreciate that the roll was small - also, not sure if it was due to the roll being baked but the rice was hard on the bottom of this one. The nigiri is where I was sold on this place! For an AYCE spot, the fish is pretty good compared to other places. We had a variety with the white tuna and spicy scallops being my favorite. The usual orders of salmon and tuna were also great. They have a lot to offer in terms of nigiri and did I mention that their plating is my favorite?!?! Overall, i recommend giving this spot a try! If you're interested in cocktails, they offer quite a variety for around $10 each! read more

Currently one of my favorite places for not only sushi but a nice variety of a menu! Only $32/person for AYCE sushi and a lot more on their menu. One of my favorite items was the Jalapeño Bombs, perfectly tasted just like jalapeño poppers (but honestly maybe better haha). The service was nice and even got a boat because we ordered so much (and we asked for it for the aesthetic). The inside decor and vibes was also nice, I appreciated that. We went on a Friday around 5pm and it was not crazy busy, this place should be popping around that time on a Friday! I think this is a hidden gem and low key kind of glad it wasn't too crazy so we can talk and relax. Also, (on the other hand) glad it was picking up traffic later in the day, this restaurant definitely deserves the hype! I'm glad I found this place and will be back soon. Last piece, the pictures on the menu made my life, so smart & thoughtful for lots of people! Genius. Personal Review: 8.9/10 read more

Food- Quality sushi, a bit on the saltier side for me. However the quality is good on the sushi, well made and tasty. Service- The restaurant is a definitely understaffed a bit but my water glass not got low. However our entire eating experience was near 2 and a half hours from the long wait times between plates. Ambience- A bit loud and small area. Pretty standard ambience. One thing that deducted a whole star was the aquarium in the establishment. They decided to put an Angel Fish in a one gallon puddle of an aquarium and it's sad to see the fish struggling to swim clearly in distress. Overall, solid meal just a bit slow and sad to see the aquarium. read more

Overall not bad for the price point for what you're getting. Sushi is actually pretty delicious, but the main point is the lack of a host to calm and explain to customers on wait time. They seem to have a problem with google reservations so people would come in and wait longer times than usual. And i could see frustration from the workers and the customers in line. But if you have nothing going on and you're patient, it's not that bad. The ambiance is very modern and cool with the fish tank. Come here if you are not hangry and have nothing else planned afterwards. read more

There's a pretty large variety of sushi as well as non-sushi items offered on the all you can eat menu. My friends and I wanted to try so many of the appetizers that by the time we got to the sushi we were pretty full. The sushi/sashimi portions were generous and tasted fresh which is a huge win for all you can eat spots! One of my favorite bites was the spicy scallop nigiri. Our experience with a large group went smoothly and the food didn't take long to come out. Would definitely recommend if you're craving an AYCE sushi experience in Chicago. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, for $32.99. Premium ayce, with a large variety of rolls to choose from! As far as AYCE sushi goes, I think we come in with the expectation the quality isn't going to blow your socks off - that being said, the sushi is yummy, but don't come in with the expectation it'll be amazing - we come here to eat our fill in a large variety of sushi. It was easy enough to get our value's worth without necessarily blowing up our stomachs, and without meeting any of the penalties for not being able to finish all of our food. Our personal favorites were the soft shell crab, salmon crudo, dragon on fire, and the treasure box. The treasure box was the most beautiful and came with a large variety of nigiri, but, the it does also come with 4 filler spicy jalapeno-tuna rolls that seem more for filling up your stomach. The presentation of dragon on fire was really cool - it's the only baked roll, and super good. The beer and tea is charged extra, so be mindful of that. In general will come again if looking for solid ayce place! read more

Really wanted to like this place since its so close to home but it had a lot of downfall when it came to service. Came in around 6 PM with a party of 4 with no reservation on a Sunday. They were a bit busy so we weren't seated right away. When we finally got seated there we were waiting for our server to come take our order but the worst part is waiting on the food. It took way too long for apps to come out and then a huge wait time in between for the rolls to come out. We even noticed that other tables who sat down after us has gotten their food before us and even finished before us. It was unfortunate that we weren't even able to enjoy the AYCE because we were not willing to wait for the food to take so long to come out. There's still a lot of tweaks that needs to be worked out for a better service experience. read more

Do not eat here. Cons: The owner. He came out offering to "take care" our large group and order for us. His care was random plates of the largest rolls. No variety just 5 stacked plates of 30-40 pieces. We got NO SASHIMI until we started to complain. The owner said he "thought we could eat a lot". The wait. From seat to leave was 2 hours. One side table did their own order once they saw the "chef special" nonsense. They never saw half their food. The system. Things just come out and they ask who has what, no notation of customer order or what was waiting. This lead to receipt issues. The missing orders: I got 5 Nigiri, 1 Roll, and 2 Sashimi. I saw 1 roll and 1 Sashimi of all that. Other: I never got a paper receipt offered and only a digital when I asked. Their paper copies only said merchant. The owner tried to blame the issues on us to other upset customers who had the same problems. The staff need training (they are nice) on what is what as they mislabeled things. Pros: The few Sashimi we did get were very nice Quality. The AYCE system is fair if they honored their own rules. TL;DR 2/10 Good Sashimi slices, bad everything else. read more

There are a number of high end sushi spots in Chicago. There are many of them in the Lincoln Park neighborhood as well. However, one of the best sushi spots that I've been to lately is an unportentous neighborhood spot in Lincoln Park. It's located on Fullerton just west of DePaul. First, the atmosphere is great. The restaurant is brightly lit and has fun Asian style decor. Second, they have a huge menu. They have all of the typical sushi nigiri and sushi roll offerings you would expect. However, they also have a lot of other options. For example, not only did I order sushi the night I went, in also ordered chicken wings and spam musubi. These are just examples of of delicious dishes other than sushi you can order. Third, their food is delicious. Everything that I ordered was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the sushi nigiri I ordered. I got tuna and tamago. I measure all sushi restaurants by their tuna, and the tuna here is good. I also explored a lot of their non-sushi options and suggest that you do the same. Fourth, the service is very good. The staff is nice and the food came out quickly. This is a must visit sushi spot in Lincoln Park. read more

Sushi Payce is a new AYCE sushi restaurant. We visited the restaurant with an open mind after reading all the bad reviews from the weekend. I went for lunch 12:40pm and there were only 5 tables filled. The restaurant wasn't busy and the food we ordered came in a reasonable amount of time. Appetizers were mediocre, but the rocked shrimp was good. Rolls and nigiri were above average and had a good ratio of fish to rice. There is a limited menu for lunch and a good amount of selection is only available for dinner. The spicy scallop, steak, and salmon were the top three nigiri available for lunch. There was a rush at 3:00 and we were waiting for a long time for 1 roll. After waiting for half hour, we asked the staff about it, and he responded that it wasn't imputed in the system. When we asked for the bill, the roll we ordered was on the receipt but at that point we just wanted to leave. This means that the roll was imputed in the system and that the staff lied to us. If it weren't for that one negative thing, this restaurant would be rated higher. The restaurant owner asked us to give a good rating, but I can not recommend it until there is more staffing. Because the food was good, I would consider revisiting again in the future. read more

I'd like to start off by saying that I read some of the reviews regarding service prior to going. I wanted to keep an open mind since a lot of restaurants / stores in general are struggling with hiring workers and dealing with supply chain issues. The interior is beautifully decorated and feels very luxurious. We were seated right away and greeted by a waiter. He explained to us about the AYCE and asked us to not order too much at once so it doesn't slow down the kitchen. He also explained that he would have to charge us a fee if we wasted sushi (standard for AYCE). It was pretty busy at 3 PM on a Saturday, which I was happy to see. Overall, our food came out pretty quick between each round and our waitress was super attentive. Our drinks were made quickly and our water glasses were never left empty. I urge others to give this restaurant another chance since they had just opened and struggled with hiring staff like other restaurants. Also, the AYCE model just requires some time for the kitchen / wait staff to get used to since it depends on how much each table orders at once. Maybe they can implement a limit as to many items you can order at once (like how some of the AYCE hot pot places do it). The sushi was great! We moved the snow mountain, crabby crab, and dragon on fire! We also got our miso soups, fried oyster, calamari tempura as appetizers. The signature rolls did not disappoint! I definitely had a great experience here, and I hope they continue to improve and serve Lincoln park! Will definitely be back! read more

First time ordering delivery from an all you can eat sushi bar, the food is outstanding quality!!! Amazing taste! Love the pieces, not small pieces like many sushi restaurant for appetizers, perfect size and quality! The tuna one sauce is truly amazing~~~ very special! The rolls are all great, I am a big tuna fun, so all my rolls has tuna. Like it not too much rice, well-balanced. Sizes a good too! Not those small ones, very generous! Service is deliberately bad. You go to a restaurant to eat, not sit there and get hungrier

Overall experience is pleasant and employees are friendly and humorous. Being served by Georgie and Georgie jr, aka the robots, was a surprise delight. Notable dishes were the dragon on fire roll, crab Rangoon with wonton wrappers, and Salmon Crudo. The crab Rangoons are great if you prefer creamier version of it. Service was better than previous reviews. However, you could tell that the team structure and order tracking are somewhat new. Given that they've only been opened for few weeks, it was overall better than expected. The owner was also very accommodating for any changes. Even though we didn't meet him in person, I had a good experience with him. Recommendation for improvements include increasing team communication to obtain immaculate order tracking for tables and giving the robots an official name for fun and giggles. I would recommend this place. read more

I wanted to like this SO badly but it's just not good. First of all the service. There appeared to be a lot of servers running around yet no one would take our order for 30 minutes. Then if you wanted absolutely anything else you had to flag down someone as they literally wouldn't make eye contact with you. What should have taken an hour to eat took almost 3. The food itself is also sub par. The sushi is so fishy and none of it tastes fresh. The flavors are all pretty muted. Additionally for two people unless you are getting a ton of sushi, the $35 all you can eat isn't really a great deal. We added up our totals and we only saved around $6 after everything we ordered. Highly recommend trying another spot for all you can eat. read more

Damn what happened? One of our goto's have failed us. Salmon nigiri and tuna nigiri were as thin as paper. I understand prices have gone up. But damn. We came like once every quarter. Unfortunately will never go back. Rolls tasted fishy and were mushy in general. Apps were fine. I was going to bring it up to staff but the place seems decently busy so I didn't even bother. Look at my pics for before and after. Unagi is beyond salty. Had a weird exchange at the bathroom too. I opened the bathroom door and the dude was tying up his pants. Was nowhere near the sink but wanted to slip out through the open door. So essentially caught the door and slipped out. Looked like an employee sure enough it was an employee saw his face and was distributing plates and cutlery. So gross. read more

Made a reservation for a weekday in the evening and was seated immediately. The place filled up by around 7pm. Server was attentive and food came out quickly. Highly recommend most of the appetizers especially the shrimp. The stars of the show were not the specialty sushi rolls or sashimi surprisingly, but the nigiri!
