I got a good deal on this omakase meal. I was able to snag an omakase deal for $70 per person. The restaurant is located inside a hotel and it was super cute located in suite 202 with a red door. Our reservation was at 8:45 pm but we didn't get started till past 9 pm. Our chef Ken is soft spoken but super friendly. The pieces were smaller than what I'm used to at other omakase. If you can snag the deal for $70 per person I would recommend giving it a try. read more

Sushi Suite 202 in Lincoln Park was SUCH a treat. Going here was my Christmas gift from my boyfriend. It's a speakeasy under the Sushi By Bou umbrella in a modified Hotel Lincoln guest room. We did the date night package, which comes with a 17 course omakase and paired cocktail flight. Unlike my usual posts, I don't have an explanation of each dish. They don't have a set menu, so each omakase experience will be a bit different. I just have pictures from a few of the courses here. Overall, Sushi Suite 202 was amazing. It's the perfect blend of high quality dining and speakeasy vibes. The room can only hold about 8-10 people. We have been here 3 times now and the first time was a couple years ago. The 2nd time was OK but we are so glad we came back again. Third time's a charm!! We brought our friends here for a birthday dinner and everyone was so impressed by Chef Pong. The combination of flavors and the freshness of the fish was amazing. This place absolutely blew my mind when we went in March 2021. They had head chef Jordan at the time and he created one of the most amazing omakase experiences I've ever had. We stumbled across this place literally after asking my girl to officially be my girlfriend. It really holds a special place in our hearts. When we arrived, we were treated with the highest level of hospitality. We started off with a flight of drinks and then a top of the line unforgettable sushi dinner. It was a chef's table with only 4 seats for that time slot. All I can remember was the chef adding uni and truffle to everything! This restaurant is in a hotel that's near Lincoln Park so you'll have to find parking around the area and walk over. They have a 10 min grace period so make sure you're on time. Delicious nigiri, but very very pricey. It's about $10 per piece at the end of the night with 17 courses of sushi. I've been here twice and Chef Mike always makes it a fun experience. There's unique pieces of fish and flavors in the menu. I would say there's some hidden costs though. He said that we would get a piece of sushi as a service, but then ended up charging us $30 per piece of nigiri. If he offers you anything outside of the 17 course menu, it'll cost extra, just as a warning. The uni ice cream was a unique experience. I would recommend sushi suite to people for very special occasions. The bartender makes some great cocktails, but these are extra on top of the omakase price. Our family decided to dine here as a family of six on New Year's Day and we're so glad that we did! It was such an intimate experience with a personal sushi chef. I loved that our chef Max was able to cater to our taste and favorites. My parents truly enjoyed the experience here at sushi suite as they had never had an experience such as this. My family was shocked by the quality and freshness of the fish and the variety we were presented with. We got to try fish we've never had before and we were blown away. Our chef Max was amazing. From start to finish he explained everything so well. He engaged with our family in conversation and truly made it a personal experience. He asked for our preferences and presented each plate in a timely manner. He mentioned that each chef has flexibility in how they want to prepare their dishes and with what flavors they want to incorporate into each dish. I loved this concept because when customers return, if it's a different chef it would be a completely different experience. Towards the end of our meal the next set of customers came in and were seated at the bar. However, our family didn't feel rushed at all. We made reservations over a month out and had a few questions for the business leading up to our dining experience. I can't speak for the quality of food or the in-house service, because based on their unwillingness to respond to my phone calls, messages on OpenTable, message on Facebook, and also texting the number their automated response suggests texting, we canceled our reservations altogether. I was only after getting support AGAINST the negative reviews on here, mostly related to drinks and drink pricing, as well as a food menu to at least follow along with when we were there. It seems like it would be simple to provide a drink and/or food menu, or even respond that they weren't available in any sense. Several other omakase experiences at least offer something similar to that. We planned a 4-hour round trip for this, and were genuinely excited to find something to potentially replace Hinata (Indianapolis) in our rotation of restaurants. By far a wonderful omakase experience. This wasn't my first time having omakase but it was my first time at Sushi Suite 202. Dropped in and was immediately taken away by how cute the set up it. It's literally in what seems like a hotel room that's been retrofitted to be a private sushi dining experience. What an interesting experience with a delicious 17 course omakase tasting. I had the 3-Sake pairing which was light and smooth - but expensive at $50. Probably wouldn't do that again. However the sushi was some of the best I've ever had. I'm not a fan of scallops but I trusted the chef and it blew me away. I would love a dinner dish of scallops prepared just the way he did. The venue was eclectic with a speakeasy vibe. Intimate once you get inside. My biggest issue is that it was very smokey. I didn't see anyone actually smoking but the space was definitely smoke-filled and for an asthmatic, it was actually hard for me to breathe. The standard for Omakase is higher than what you get at sushi suite. I shouldn't be seeing flys hovering around the fish at a $200 per person Omakase tasting. When you first sit down you will see all 17 pieces of mystery fish are sitting in the open air already cut. Raw fish simply shouldn't be sitting out for 45+ minutes ESPECIALLY WITH FLIES IN THE ROOM. None of the 17 pieces give that wow factor that you typically get when you pay this kind of a premium. 2 of the pieces (the Ebi and sea bass with crab as pictured) were boarder line spit out of your mouth bad. Everything from the mushy consistency to fishy taste makes these pieces worth skipping. The slices of fish in general are thin and don't coat all of the taste buds in the mouth. I question not only the ethics of the restaurant, but the integrity of the prior reviews as well. The goal of a proper Omakase should be to provide an unforgettable experience through their mastered craft and uniquely fresh fish. The goal for Sushi Boutique unfortunately is to create an "elegant" money grab where they don't have a proper menu and will prolong the experience in order to squeeze every cent they can out of you. read more

We had these reservations for months and were so looking forward to it. I purchased the "Date Night" package that included the 17-course omakase with a cocktail flight. My boyfriend was completely out-of-the-loop, so imagine his surprise when we check in at the front desk of the Hotel Lincoln and walk up to the second floor! Within the row of hotel rooms, at the very end of the hall, there's a bright red door that stands out from the others with "202" emblazoned right next to the door. He was incredibly confused when I started knocking on the door and even more confused when we walked in to find a bar, lounge area, and sushi bar! Marco, the bartender, immediately greeted us and started working on our cocktail flight. Since we were the last of the group to arrive, we were seated at the sushi bar. In front of each of us was a gorgeous white marble slab that each piece of nigiri would be placed on. Our cocktail flight included three approximately 2 ounces of their classic cocktails: Japanese Old Fashioned - the chef's favorite, butterfly pea and yuzu - most popular cocktail, and a citrusy cocktail that was the first cocktail Marco learned how to make. That butterfly pea and yuzu cocktail was outstanding with the striking purple liquor and the yuzu citrus was unique. I can definitely see why it's a favorite. We started off with a sashimi dish with marinated cucumber and from there, each piece of nigiri was an onslaught of just the freshest fish available. Our chef of the night - Chef Mike - worked with ease, preparing each course all the while keeping us entertained with jokes like humble foraging in Lake Michigan - in actuality, the fish was straight from the waters of Japan. The shiso garlic pesto and Ebi with bruleed truffle hollandaise are two bites I think I'll remember for the rest of my life. Freaking phenomenal. Payton was the maitre'd of the night and presented us with the opportunity to purchase the sake flight as an extra. She walked us through the different grades of sake. The flight was of three different daiginjo, so it was really great to pair with our nigiri. She also was super sweet the entire time and a great photographer if you want a pic to remember the night! The last thing I have to mention is that A5 Wagyu. At the end of our 17-courses, we were offered extras that we could purchase. There were two types of fish that honestly my boyfriend and I completely zoned out one what Chef Mike's was describing because we immediately zeroed in on the beautiful marbling of the A5 Wagyu. We each purchased a slice of the A5 Wagyu and Oh. My. Lord. Melts in your mouth, truly otherworldly experience that's just indescribable. Overall, this was one night for us to always remember! It's explained however I would've preferred for a printout of our menu to take home. I have to mention that the tuna here has transformed my opinion of the fish. We made reservations for their holiday omakase. The suite itself was nicely decorated and it offered a very unique dining experience. Unfortunately, that's where the holiday aspect ended aside from two dishes that were presented in an ornament and present. I was expecting some more integration on this if it's being advertised as such a strong theme. The fish was quality but everything else was pretty average for what the price is. The omakase didn't feel like anything special. The chef was pleasent but he could of explained a little more about the food. They were definitely on watch for the 75 minute time reservation, so it felt rushed and not really a place to hang out afterwords since it's so small. This place is an absolute scam! My fiancé and I love to try out new restaurants, and this place definitely does not live up to its price point. They advertise this as a 17 course omakase and we had at most 10 courses after which everything becomes a la carte. No menu, no prices, no help from the staff. The newly engaged couple next to us questioned the 17 courses to the "sommelier" and she basically just brushed them off and said that's the end of the meal everything is pay as you go now. We've tried to contact this restaurant to get some answers, but have received no response. In a city with limitless options, I would highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

Compared to the other omakase bars I've been to, this was different in a good way because I was the only customer that hour and had a fun conversation with the chefs about where the ingredients came from and where are good places to eat in the city. Heads up: the sushi rice is not vinegary and that is intentional by the restaurant. I personally don't care. The rice texture was still good and properly packed with the fish. We came here to celebrate our 3 year anniversary on a Friday at 5pm for dinner. It was us and 2 other couples, which made the vibe intimate. Make sure you're not more than 10 minutes late for your resy or they'll start without you! We got the Date Night Package, which came with 2 cocktail flights plus 2 17-course omakases. You start at the bar where they give you your drinks. The first one, a grapefruit drink, was light and refreshing; I liked that one. The butterfly drink, the most popular cocktail there, was WAY too sweet for me; I didn't finish that one. The last one was a Japanese Old Fashioned, which was okay. Still a little on the sweet side, but better than the butterfly drink. Next time I'll skip the flight and just order a drink of my choosing. You'll also have the option of adding a sake pairing to your omakase once you migrate over to the sushi bar. The fish quality of the omakase was delicious and fresh - we loved it!! Chef Mike also made the experience; he was personable and fun! We'll definitely ask for him/schedule when he's there next time. Everything was well balanced and fish-centric vs. heavy on sauces, which I appreciated. My favorites were the scallop, uni, toro, and the shrimp with a truffle/egg yolk sauce. After the 17 courses are over, you have the option to order a la carte pieces. Once your group of 6 is done at the sushi bar, you have a chance to hang in the lounge and order more cocktails or drinks. What a unique experience! I'm so happy my partner found this place! We've been on an omakase train recently, and this was by far the most unique one! You check in at the front desk of the Lincoln Hotel, where they will call Sushi Suite 202 (on the second floor, as you'd expect). Then, you can knock (pretty loudly, as the music inside is pretty loud...) and they'll let you into this cute little suite that they've turned into a sushi lounge. Service is exquisite. Coat check at the door, leading you into the bar area, where you can sit and drink and chat while you wait for the sushi bar to be ready. We did the date night experience, which came with a flight of 3 cocktails - a paloma, a gin-based drink, and a whiskey drink. We had a sip of all of them but ended up just finishing the paloma and gin drinks. We're not big whiskey fans. Anyways, we were led to the sushi bar once the previous party had finished their meal. It's a fast-paced 60-minute omakase experience, so be sure to get there on time (or 15 minutes earlier to make sure you can take advantage of the bar!). There are 6 seats at the sushi bar - a very intimate experience with a sushi chef and his assistant. We had such a fun time! We even got to get to know the other customers and we connected on social media to keep in touch! And the sushi chef was so adept - he kept making the nigiri, very precisely but quickly to keep the flow going. But he was also easy to talk to! At the end of our meal, we took a kanpai cheers with the chef and his assistant to thank them for a good time! We got the sake pairing, and we liked all of them!! I am a huge fan of sushi by bou in NYC so was excited to try this place! I loved the whole experience. The sushi place was hidden away in the hotel - felt very speakeasy-esque. Theres a bar for you to enjoy drinks while you wait for the chefs to be ready (and the other parties to arrive). The bartender is very knowledgeable and can make you a drink based on your preferences (aka the liquor base plus what flavor you like (fruity, floral, refreshing, etc). I loved the cocktail experience here and chose that over sake. The sushi was very good but a little expensive. I think it fell a bit short from the NYC locations. The sushis were a little small and rice was kind of falling apart. BUT the fish quality was amazing and the meal did fill me up. Surprised my partner in crime by taking him here for his birthday. (You can imagine his confusion as I approached the Hotel Lincoln desk and "checked in" to our second hotel room of the evening!) My only word of caution would be that as drinks are not included in the price of the reservation, it would be wise to ask for pricing--we did not see any menus/pricing and ordered blindly. You walk up a flight of stairs to a red bordered door and pass diners that look like they had a good ass time as you walk in. After a couple drinks and the last group has finished, you're welcomed to the dining area, a small sushi bar in front of a small prep area, a setup as approachable as walking up to your friend's kitchen island for some hangover breakfast. All the same, except here, your homie (Chef Michael-san) then serves you up 17 courses of not only the some of the best quality fish, but quality fish with intense, yet well balanced flavors. Each piece of fish that would be amazing on its own is elevated with perfectly prepared sushi rice and brushed with sauces or garnishes with flavors that take it to another level. I suggest coughing up an extra $18 for the A5 wagyu sashimi to end the meal, very much worth. Then after that, ask for the special CHIrashi Don Bowl that is meant to be takehome for the the next day, if you can refrain from eating it right away. My group of 3 were reserved for a 10pm spot and were not expecting anything close to the experience we had. In the four years that I'd been gone, a bunnnch of good sushi places popped up in Chicago, and it was so unfortunate that we weren't able to eat at any of them all year. With one month left in the city, I got to pick one in the "good sushi" category. And sushi suite seemed like a good value and a unique experience. It was in a little room at the lincoln hotel, which seemed like a memorable concept in and of itself. And I do remember reading about how successful the company's cheaper omakase restaurants are. So why not. The experience is intimate and very casual - there were only two other people dining with us for our seating in this little hotel room. We were first sat at the bar where we enjoyed our included cocktail flight. Then we were ushered like six literal steps to the sushi bar. Our chef was super personable and served us at a good pace. The progression made a lot of sense, and the fish were good. There were mostly fish you can find on a typical sushi joint, except a step or two above in quality, with a few twists here and there to highlight the flavor fish. Nothing too out of the ordinary in terms of variety, but we were told that about half the menu changes regularly based on availability. The whole meal lasts about 75-90 minutes but you are encouraged to hang out in the lounge area afterwards as they prepare for the next seating. Overall, our experience was a great value. 17 courses + beverages for $250 including tax & tip. That is a nice bargain compared to the other places in town. I think the difference is maybe a little less obsessive attention to detail, not the most interesting varieties of fish, and like 20% smaller portions compared to more expensive omakase elsewhere. And maybe not as "fancy" of an experience? but I liked how laid back it was here. If you are looking for a non-intimidating, reasonably priced first foray into omakase, I'd definitely give it a shot here. That is, until they open a Sushi by Bou in Chicago too, I guess. read more

A hotel room converted into a speakeasy sushi bar super cute concept. Perfect for a date night or a special event. Seating is a 6 person seating so it is super intimate. You're able to arrive early and hang at the bar before your seating which is nice. We came early and was able to enjoy our cocktail flight before our seating. There was a dealer's choice kinda thing so we just told the mixologist what we were feeling and he was able to spice something up for us. So I went with sweet and vodka and I don't know what he made but it was delicious. When we arrived, a session just ended and another group was ahead of us. The first session that was there stayed to lounge around which is a nice option but because the spacing was so small I felt like people should be courteous that it is a shared place. That group was quite rowdy so it made our early arrival not as speakeasy as I was hoping. Now onto the seating - Chef Jordan was super knowledgeable about the course and super chill. He really made us feel comfortable and was real conversational, we were able to learn more about is background and that this was not his first culinary gig. The courses was definitely chef's kiss. No words to describe it because you really need to experience it first hand. The only sad part was that one of the course was not uni & he explained why but it was still sad that there wasn't any. He heard it was my birthday and was given a special surprise. Chef Jordan even was courteous to give me 2 pieces that I was able to share with my boyfriend. Food always taste better when you're sharing. This is our second visit and I enjoyed it even better than the last when we went when it first opened during Valentine's Day.
