I got the spicy salmon roll, dinosaur roll, unagi q, and mini Godzilla roll. Honestly for $4.49/set of 4-6 pieces this is a great deal in wicker if you're looking to satisfy a sushi craving. The order takes about 20 mins to come out so would order ahead for carry out. They also have plenty of seating inside as well.

Sushi was fresh and tasty and was $8.95 which for the area is a deal. I see why while I was sitting in eating their delivery pick up was super busy with people constantly coming in to pick up orders. The location is small so not good for big parties. They play good music for a sushi bar. They have chopsticks in a jar readily at all tables which is different. Normally when you're at sushi restaurants they give you throw away chop sticks and hopefully they do the same with these and they're not reusing them. Service was Ok. Once I received my food, no one came back to check on me to see if I needed anything else before finishing so I deducted a star for this. I would come back for the sushi though.

This was my first time ordering edamame from here and I'm shocked at how little I got for the $6 I paid for it. The picture doesn't doesn't do it justice. Very very tiny portion for the price and I had to season it myself because there was barely any salt on it.

The staff was very accommodating and had us order before our table was ready, as we were waiting. The soy sauce came in little prepackaged plastic containers to the table. The pieces of sushi were not huge, but for $2.50 a plate, who is really complaining?

I highly recommend coming to Gorilla sushi as all the rolls are good and a lot are $3.95 each! That's a really good deal for half rolls. I could easily eat a bunch of rolls which I think I ate a lot and could still eat more. They do take out and dine in. If you're craving sushi but don't want to break your wallet, I highly recommend coming here. I got the golden California rolls, mini Godzilla roll, red dragon roll, and dinosaur roll. They were each $3.95 and they were delicious! This is a cheap and good sushi place that I recommend coming and checking it out!

The sushi here was excellent and the prices were reasonable as well. It was a nice and quiet place to get a quick bite. The service was really fast, but there were only a few other diners at the time we were there. I absolutely recommend the heart attack roll, it was hot and delicious. I was glad to see they offered sides of both sushi rice and white rice, you don't see that too often so I really appreciated having the option. Sushi that taste great that does not impact your wallet is always a great spot to share with others. I was able to enjoy a variety of sushi and maki rolls here at Gorilla Sushi. Almost all items listed on the menu ranging from Nigiri to Maki rolls was under $4. The ordering process was easy as I just rattled of all my favorite rolls and the waiter would just bring them to you on a nicely decorated long dish. The food was delicious and a great value. There are items like Sashimi that are a bit higher in cost but still affordable to be under $6. I would definitely come back to Gorilla Sushi and get all my favorites. There are a limited amount of tables if you plan to eat there but I did notice there are plenty of people who order for pickup that night I was there. read more

Ordered off Uber eats and the rice is super mushy and overcooked. The miso soup also taste like water. I'm not sure if the delivery time impacted the quality of the sushi but I've definitely had better. Super sad especially since they have generally high reviews. read more

Finally tried Gorilla Sushi and it's a solid option for affordable sushi! We placed an order online and it took about 25 mins to prepare. We got an assortment of rolls bc they sell 4-6 pieces for $4-8 which is a bargain in Chicago. I like that it allows you to try different rolls. The basic rolls were standard, worth it for the price. Specialty rolls were pretty good. Nothing to rave about necessary but solid and especially for the price point. I also got the salad and my husband got some apps but they did forget his fried shrimp, which we were charged for. We tried to call and no one answered the phone... we just let it go. The rolls I had were: Spicy Salmon 4/5 good, pretty straight forward California with eel 5/5 tasty! Miami - 5/5 tasty House salad 4/5 - the ginger dressing was good but super runny which I don't prefer. Overall, good and friendly service. Would get again for the price point. read more

Talk about bang for your buck! We ordered takeout and the only knock I have is that the food was a little cold, but that obviously had nothing to do with the restaurant (would love to try in person while everything is hot!) We ordered gyoza, edamame, 2 spicy tuna rolls and two others (sorry, not sure what they were) and a side of spicy mayo all for $40. We were skeptical on how good it would be given the price, but would absolutely get again. Definitely not the best sushi I've ever had, but hits the spot and is classic and delicious. 10/10 will be our sushi to go place again! read more

Those rolls were: · Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll · California Roll · Spicy Trio Roll From the three only the Crunchy Spicy Salmon Roll stood out. The others were TINY and underwhelming. I guess that came with a cost: 3% service charge automatically applied, and the server proactively brought over a digital payment system, so the 18% tip I selected calculated off the total leading to what was essentially a tip of 23%.

I hope management takes this seriously, retrains their staff on proper food safety procedures, and ensures this doesn't happen to anyone else.

But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.
