Wednesday night 1 hour before closing, walked in and was closed out. I asked why and with a smirk I was told not enough staff. What type of top notch restaurant doesn't have staff? The staff there was smirky and laughing at the fact I was asking about it. Like we closed kitchen it was slow ...so what and smirk. The restaurant is cozy, with a minimalist vibe. There are red lanterns and some wall art. Not overdone, and feels modern. Music is hip and plays at a reasonable volume. For food, I ordered the "Snow White" and "Adult Only" Maki's, and an Unagi Nigiri. The eel nigiri was great! The rice was excellent, and the eel wasn't only savory as can be, but lightly roasty and smoky tasting! This isn't the grocery store microwaved variety! Not drowning in sauce, either! With the Adult Only: It has a little heat, some solid crunch, freshness, even just a little hint of sweetness. Now, while some pieces have less salmon within than others, the tuna on top more than makes up for it. Finally, when I happily devour half before trying with soy sauce, that is a testament to how good this roll is. The Snow White was not as much of a winner. It felt as though the flavors and textures of the pieces were overpowered by the rice and jalapeño (by texture, not so much heat). It also felt like the rice got more sear than the white tuna, which ended up bland instead of roasted. The service also could have been just a touch better. I felt it could have been a little more attentive in terms of water and checking in. The food came out in a reasonable time frame. Finally, where it comes to value, the prices are a little up there, but in return you get a solid portion of ample sized pieces. Thus, while I will likely not order the Snow White again, I would be happy to come back to order the Adult Only, as well as try some more of their offerings. read more

Sushi is great! Monday night special is on point- buy 2 get 1 free. We have been there several times and always enjoyed out meal. That said and the servers could care less, about you. They spend most of the time sitting by the desk, and you have to get up if you want a refill or anything, which I don't particularly mind but in a world where going out to eat is getting more and more expensive and we are expected to tip at 20% I'd like actual service for my $20 bucks and I absolutly hate someone who I have not seen for most of my meal hovering over me for a tip at the end of it with their handheld. Travelled a distance for this fairly new sushi restaurant in the heart of the LGBTQ community of Chicago and for the most part, it didn't disappoint. First off, I wish it was advertised more visibly there was free parking nearby on broadway. Had to walk about 5 city blocks to get here in 32F weather. Understandably, we were a little rushed as they were closing in an hour upon our arrival but they still managed to serve us amazing looking and tasting dishes. The interior was well decorated and the plating for each dish look meticulously prepared, which was noticed and appreciated. I was not too pleased there were fish bones in my Sashimi considering the price paid for the 15 pieces. If it hadn't been for that, this would be a 5 star review. Prices for this place is definitely on the pricier side for sushi so don't come here if you're looking to save some dollars. Great new addition to the neighborhood! The staff at Amore is super friendly and welcoming, and the interior decor is simplistic and cozy. My only negative is all the hand written signs on the outside facade are a little odd and tacky looking....when we arrived we weren't sure if they were open as we could not see inside beyond these signs. They are also BYOB which is awesome. And the food does NOT disappoint! They have a huge menu with many unique offerings. We had a variety of rolls and appetizers and the portions were plenty. Anode is a great addition to the area! It is pretty standard for sushi places, but good. We got a salmon avocado roll, the volcano roll, and the No name roll. All were very good! I think the No name and volcano were the best! This is a place to stick to the rolls. The nigiri is pretty expensive. However the fish did taste very fresh and was cut properly. For three people, we ordered: edamame, crispy rice spicy tuna x2, spider roll, Chicago cubs, Snow White, crazy salmon, pattaya, and the Pompeii maki. All were delicious! I thought the number of pieces were great and had really good flavor. Whatever the sauce on the Chicago cubs roll plate was so good for that and all of the other rolls too. It's a relatively smaller place but wasn't too busy - maybe because we came on a weekday or people prefer take out. Service was good and presentations of the rolls were beautifully done! I'm so glad this spot opened in the neighborhood. I first went a few weeks ago with a friend and I've been a regular ever since. The owner is sometimes there and he introduces himself to each customer and talks to them for a little. It really made me feel welcome and I'm always happy to meet the owner of a local business that I frequent. Service: Their service is great and very quick. Every server I have had has been very professional, kind, and helpful. This is a spot that you can stop by for a quick bite on busy days, but also a good spot for dinner with friends or dates. Prices: The prices are a steal here. The food is very high quality with low prices, so there are no complaints! I've seen flyers for lunch time deals that I have yet to take advantage of, but I intend to soon. Was in town with my dad for my brothers wedding and wanted to find some good food places near his apartment that I could recommend to him since he just moved here And I ended up finding probably the best sushi place I've ever been to First off the food, everything was absolutely fantastic! We had the takoyaki (finally a place with takoyaki!!!) and chicken gyoza and both were fantastic. For rolls we had the dragon, crazy salmon, and Chicago Cubs roll, and they were all very good, and Mondays and Tuesdays are buy 2 get 1 free on all roles! We also had the Zuke Salmon nigiri, and the special salmon nigiri, and they were easily the best nigiri I've ever had. Second the interior, place is clean spacious and modern and everything looks great. And it has some very cool wall art. And lastly the service, I don't remember our waitress's name but she was polite and attentive. But the real star of the show is the owner Ron, he's so passionate about his business and his customers, and just a genuinely great guy. He greeted everyone that came in, made them feel welcome and was just awesome to talk to. He'll go out and greet people and say hi on the sidewalk in front of the store and really sell himself and the restaurant. My spouse and I came to Amore Sushi for dinner and had a wonderful time! The ambiance is fantastic. It's very calm and has beautiful decor. There are beautiful hanging paper lamps, and the seats are very comfortable. We didn't have a reservation, but I would recommend it. Since there were only 2 of us, they were luckily able to accommodate us, even on Friday night! The staff was very kind and helpful, and made wonderful suggestions. We were even greeted by the owner, and felt very welcome. I'd highly recommend the veggie gyoza and veggie lovers sushi roll especially. They were both very unique and delicious! Experience: Came across this gem while walking around the neighborhood. The owner was very friendly so we decided to give it a try. With a party of two during lunch hours on a Saturday, we were able to be seated and served right away. Parking: Believe it or not, there is FREE parking with this business. It's just behind the restaurant with a lot shared with numerous businesses. You just gotta walk a long inside hallway to get to the restaurant, which was fine with me.
