Making the trek from the burbs to the city on a Saturday night is a pain these days so when we do so we like to make it worth it. And Omakase on Me was well worth it from both an entertainment and food perspective. I had booked this for our anniversary about a month ago after seeing the stellar reviews and we are huge sushi fans. I didn't research too much so wasn't exactly sure how it worked, but the surprise was part of the fun. We arrived for our 7:30pm reservation and were asked to sit to the side until everyone arrived. I figured they'd take us to a table in the back, but then realized there's just one bar where everyone sits. They do 3 seatings a night: 530pm, 7:30pm and 9:30pm. Our entire experience was about an hour of 15 min and we left super full and well entertained. There are 16 courses. I believe about 5 appetizers, followed by many sushi courses, 1 hand roll and finally a delicious cheesecake for dessert. I was super full around course #8 and my husband had to start helping me out even though it was all so good. It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, but really good by Chicago standards. We were sitting next to a lovely couple from Seattle where they do have a really good fresh sushi and they were fans too. The presentation was so fun that you'll definitely want to keep your phone handy to take pics and videos. And the staff was upbeat, hilarious and so nice! They also kept the sake flowing. They do offer other drinks, but we really didn't need to order on top of all of the sake. Our total ended up being around $400, which is pricey for a meal for 2 but felt like it was a show plus sushi...and such a unique experience. My husband loved it all and thanked me for finding something super fun to celebrate our anniversary. On your way out you'll also have the opportunity to sign the wall. For the cost I think it was a one time experience for a date night, but i do think it would be a blast to fill the place with a bunch of friends so maybe we'll do that at some point! read more

Also could be called Sake On Me since you really do get AYCD sake complements of Sake Boy (there's also a limited beverage menu with other things to purchase). Said Sake Boy and Chef Bankky (sp?) will make sure you Enjoy Your F*cking Dinner. They put on a great show while serving 16 really nice, varied bites accompanied by great, classic rock and pop. Eclectic atmosphere, like a 70's basement with console stereo, posters and albums on display accented with random neon, including in the restroom. We appreciated that they did their thing for just the 2 of us on a recent Wednesday 5:30p seating. It could be a great dinner party if you came with a group... Creative nigiri, a handroll, interesting serving vessels highlighted interesting fish and flavor combos, with a bit of uni, Wagyu, and caviar thrown in for good measure. This is more of a party place than fine sushi. We were the only ones there on a Monday. They have a lot of gimmicky tricks. The sushi was fine but overpriced. I enjoyed chatting with the sushi chefs but I wouldn't go back as there are better omakase places. read more

Such a fun experience Omakase experience! I definitely recommend this business for any birthday celebration. The staff does a good job at making sure you are having fun. They play fun music and take requests. It is all you can drink sake! It is easy to drink the sake. I personally found the package expensive for what hey had to offer (food wise). I'm thinking that you are paying for the unlimited sake. This is coming from someone who has been to a few omakase experiences already so this is not your traditional omakase. Unfortunately, they do not cut everything fresh in front of you. Everything is already arranged before you get there. Again, still had a great time and ate everything! Can you give more than 5 stars??!? Wow! What an epic experience. It's more than a dining experience. It's a night out! Perfect for a date night too. We didn't know what to expect. Come on time, it's omakase! They prepare your meals as a group. The quality was great, fresh and flavorful. The Chef and staff were so welcoming and friendly. You can tell they love what they do. It's a 16 course meal... it's hard to narrow down what I loved the most. The salmon was delicious and the Panang curry was also a stand out. The unlimited saki was great... I made sure to limit that. What a fun experience. We made a 530 reservation and were the only couple in the place. We had one on one interaction with the chefs and they were great. All of the dishes were good. There were 16 courses and we left full. Lots of sake and lots of fun. They've been open 6 months and seem to be doing well. At the end of the meal we got to sign the wall. this is an experience... not just a meal. the pescatarian in me came out and it was well worth it. (they accommodated for a few of the courses that were shellfish and beef - when my profile in the booking app mentioned vegetarian, they called me to make sure they could make the experience as favorable as possible. i obviously knew that i wasn't going to pay $150 for vegetables). we were actually full after the 16 courses when typically the foo foo stuff will still have me needing a pizza after dinner. the servers/bartenders/chefs are hilarious and fun. it's more of a entertaining show vs. a dinner. you need to have a bit of a sense of humor to fully enjoy so all you sensitive karens stay away. read more

I took my wife here for her birthday and we loved it. Great food and a memorable experience. We really struggled to identify the best dish because so many things were so good--curry with eel and wagyu, amberjack, sweet shrimp, salmon belly, Hokkaido scallop, and hand roll stick out. The schtick is fun, but don't let it fool you; this is a really good sushi spot. We can't wait to go back and bring friends. read more

what a gem! Performance sushi. Really really engaging crew fun atmosphere., well done and over in about 1:45 well executed, professional and the food is great. The only thing that I would change is I would put out soy sauce. I know it's Chef's choice and I know everything is curated and you're supposed to be actually tasting the fish. I can't help it. I like soy sauce it's like going to a fancy restaurant where they don't have salt on the table and then you feel ashamed if you ask for it so yeah I would maybe ask at the beginning, if anybody wants something because that would've totally improved my meal in my opinion, I'm just too American.:-)) read more

Seriously. Go to this place! They are new to the city, and will undoubtedly find their crowd, but for now it's pretty easy to get a reservation and by far the most delicious and memorable sushi experience I've had. My husband and myself came to celebrate our birthdays. We looked at a lot of different spots but landed on this one because it looked completely different than our typical finer dining. The vibe is loud but amusing. The music while random ingeniously sets the tone, and the fresh fish is creatively and deliciously executed. Every bite feels different and umami satisfying. I am still thinking about the curry. And while I cannot say I particularly enjoy Sake, the eccentric SAKE TIME toast every so often felt too fun to miss. They do have a small selection of wine and beer if sake isn't your thing, and I did end up pivoting to white wine about half way through. The seating is all at the bar, which feels almost like your best friends, who also happen to be amazing sushi chefs, invited you up to their kitchen counter for a creative feast. Dinner really feels like a party here, but never at the sacrifice of flavor and execution. I will happily come back and recommend this to anyone looking for a completely unique date night, celebration night or just for the hell of it night. Saw this new omakase on Infatuation so made a last minute reservation same day. The experience was exactly as described in the infatuation review. The atmosphere is lively and the music is not what you would expect for the experience, but it works. The food was excellent. All 16 bites were great. The wagyu curry was superb; I could have eaten a whole meal of it. Chef Banke (?) did a great job preparing and presenting it all. The unlimited sake is a nice touch and Chef Tobi really encouraged lots of drinking (I'm not sure of the alcohol content of it based on how much I drank I hardly felt any affect). I highly recommend it if you are looking for a different approach to omakase that is fun, reasonably priced, and a relaxed atmosphere. read more

This has been hands down one of the best omakase experience I've ever had. And I'm a picky mofo. My gf and I booked an omakase experience that ended up being a private one bc it was the first week they were open. After going to 15+ omakases, this was hands down the most fun one with high quality fish that we have ever had. Palm, Tobi, And Chris were amazing!!!!! And I say that lightly bc I NEVER recommend places. They have killed it in NYC and they are now bringing their talented to Chicago. Trust me, just go!!! read more
