The sushi here was great! Every roll I had was delicious, can't say enough good things about this place

I was so excited to come here per a TikTok that I saw and pleasantly surprised as I had been a local in the neighborhood and never really thought much of this place. I had ordered from their à la cart menu. maybe I'd say once or twice before but didn't really realize it was this place. The food is decent, could most certainly be better. The beef teriyaki for instance, was so tough that every time I tried to chew it, I had to spit out almost every piece because it was either fatty, or literally just so tough that your teeth would hurt from chewing it. The fish was so thickly cut that it added on to the somewhat in-enjoyable experience. When I originally ordered (and without any instructions or welcoming of any kind, just being sent to a table with a menu), my server came back to tell me that I unfortunately ordered a little too much--no issue, no problem with me. Though I could barely understand him because he was not only talking way too fast, but barely even talking loud enough to hear. It just felt like he was so disregarded with the fact/thought of me. Which showed through his entire service. I felt like he was just annoyed by me and showed it. At one point while it was nearing the end of my meal he came up to me to tell me that I could Apple Pay at the front, which is no problem, but you just saw me take a bite of food. I'm in the middle of chewing and you come over, don't even look at me. Just talk at my direction? As he was trying to explain at the beginning when I I was placing my order, I was very understanding and asking for clarification and for him to not only speaking in a manner that I could better understand him (slower and louder since I'm hard of hearing), since i was genuinely not understanding what he was saying, at which point he got and was visibly frustrated with me, this lasted my entire meal. I felt uncomfortable and being a young POC female by myself, I didn't want to seem like an issue so I just said you know what I trust you just take care of it--Should've never said that and taken my time and ordered what I actually wanted. Everything was mostly fine apart from the fact that on my original order sheet, I had asked for a bunch of musubi, and a good mixture of raw fish by itself and other forms of rolls. But when my food started to come, I was a bit confused as a lot of what was in front of me did not look too familiar, I finished mostly everything apart from a couple of rolls simply because the meal was so raw fish dense. Now I'm not the biggest sushi fan so this was a little intense for me and not wanting to have to pay for something that I was inevitably going to throw away...I wrapped it up and put it in my pocket to which my server proceeded to come back to me and tell me that the manager saw me on the camera and that to not order too many foods next time. Which, don't get me wrong, It's extremely valid and he's right. If I had control over what I was ordering however...I would have finished all of my meal and not had to wrap up my rolls and throw them out. (I finished everything apart from two different rolls: both were very fish heavy, and I just couldn't stand the texture of raw fish anymore at that point). Not to also mention that I was more than prepared to pay for one of the rolls that I didn't finish and was just going to quickly down the other, but after trying to flag down my server, and being ignored every chance I got from him--I conceded. I was ready to leave I paid about 43$ for the AYCE and a strawberry mango lemonade which was really more ice than lemonade, but I will suffice--literally go to any other sushi place. My server treated everybody else nicer than me in that room, and again I get it. I ordered a lot of food, but I ate damn near everything on my table. The cuts are really thick, which I guess is standard? Two of the sashimi dishes tasted exactly the same just with different proteins and the beef teriyaki was so tough, my tooth is aching and it's the day after. And if my server had not ordered literally every single role on my table to be that of raw fish, and had included a musubi, or any of the tobikos? Then maybe it would've been finished and there wouldn't have been an awkward and quite frankly uncomfortable confrontation. Because not only did I feel like he was trying to shame me, but that he was trying to do so in a way for the other customers to hear/embarrass me. Overall, it was just uncomfortable especially with the one random guy who just kept on walking around and staring at you while you ate? I certainly will not be coming back and I recommend that you don't even go and try it, there's another sushi place down in Lincoln Park, and it's rotary--I'd check that one out. read more

We waited no joke an hour & fifteen minutes for our TOGO order. We had a couple friends waiting on us too :( She originally told us 15 minutes waiting on top of the 15 min waiting time we received when ordering. (Which i totally understood, it's busy.) but that turned into another 45+ minutes. Wild wait if you ask me. I felt so bad for the staff dealing with everything, they're def not getting tipped well with how the kitchen was functioning. It was no better dining in when we went - we were giving it a chance by ordering out. Food wasn't great either honestly, very disappointing. Avoid it at all costs. Also saw a little bachelorette dinner here & no one at that table was happy- their celebration was ruined. I feel so bad read more

The food is delicious and fresh. It's always crowded so once you get your order, expect to wait awhile before they can service you again. They are short staffed, but it's worth it. The drinks are delicious so definitely try that, not so much the dessert. The bathrooms could use remodeling, but overall it's a good experience for what you pay for. read more

I visited my sister who recently moved to Chicago and she said this is as good as place we like in Orange County California. I was excited but what a disappointment! So disappointed guys. The ambiance was beautiful. Think inside terrace vines. The food was your typical Asian flare, and the service seemed a bit..bothersome. It was as if we were a bother. Don't let the old bad reviews fool you. Maybe once upon a time this place had a few issues but last night the food was amazing, service was top notch and the ambiance is nice and vibrant! The AYCE sushi menu was great- maybe one of my favorite ones in Chicago. However, the service was quite slow. While we weren't in a rush to get through dinner, it took awhile for anyone to come by to get our second round of orders. And had to go up to the bar to ask for the check/pay because it took so long! read more

Solid ayce sushi! The sushi rolls are awesome! Especially the sweet hearts roll, last time I tasted something like that was back in SE Asia. It had mango sauce so definitely try if you're feeling like you want something different. White sox roll is really good too. Ambience is nice - perfect for a date spot. Service could be a lil faster. Though when I came on a Friday night, they were packed. Cheap cocktails and free mochi ice cream dessert! Would recommend 4/5! read more

Hands down the best AYCE sushi I've been to ever. High quality fish, fast service, decent pricing. I was super excited that they had ikura on the menu. LOVE. They also have a wide selection of rolls and sushi. The sashimi salad is great. All sushi orders are served in a big wooden boat. My personal opinion is that the treasure box is mainly just for show and for instagrammable pics. Pick the sushi you want and order them individually from the menu - the box tends to include more rice. NOTE: to order sashimi/poke, you have to order a roll to accompany each sashimi/poke order. Other notes: - Indoor seating only, no outdoor seating - Big seating area - Nice bathrooms read more

The tastiest sushi we have ever eat ... dinner menu for all u can eat and 33$ and every plate was super delicioussss.. for now it's our best restaurant in USA. My family took me here for my birthday dinner because they know I love sushi. I would say this place is worth every penny. The appetizers were outstanding; they are what set this AYCE apart from other AYCE sushi places. The sushi had more fish than rice so that was a plus. The only complaint I have is that the sushi rice was a little too mushy for my liking but honestly I'd still come back here to give it another try. I would say this is one of the best places I've had AYCE sushi. read more

Good food and AYCE is a great deal for the quality of food recieved. However service is somewhat slow depending on the day. The AYCE limit is 2 hours but sometimes the food takes long to get out as well as the servers to take orders. Food is delicious and staff are very nice and accomodating, the only low point was the slow service, otherwise a great place. read more

Came to this restaurant with two girl friends of mine + we each ordered 1-2 rolls to share. It came in this beautiful setup! Perfect if you want some cute food photos like this one. While the presentation is beautiful, I have had better sushi at local hole-in-the-box sushi spots. FYI, the waiter automatically assumed we were doing AYCE (all you can eat) however we did not come in to do so, and our bill was less without the AYCE option so they changed it for us. Make sure you specify if you are doing AYCE or just ordering as you go. read more

Food itself was appetizing and overall good! The service however really caught my party off guard. One person in our party has pretty severe allergies and did not order anything and didn't eat the whole meal. When it came time to pay the waitress charged everyone, including the person who didn't eat for all you can eat. She then said if we wanted her to not be charged then we should have asked for our friend to not sit at our table and sit by herself to ensure that she didn't eat any of our food. The waitress then proceeded to tell us to "stop asking questions" and when we asked if the bill could be split told us "don't talk to me that way". Bad customer service and will not be visiting again. read more

I think I married a hungry monster. When he prefaces dinner questions with "how hungry are you?", I know he wants AYCO sushi. I also remind him that we make enough money to just go to any Japanese restaurant and order but I just get a crazy look in return. We were excited to see a new AYCO as he's been rotating between Sushi Taku and Koi. This place is definitely more expensive than our two normal places but the menu looked promising. Overall, the food was good but the service was HORRIBLE. We tend to order a little by little rather than the amateurs with their sushi boats that they never finish. However, we only had two sets of orders in two hours because they kept on messing up our orders and it seemed like the waitstaff had a lot of miscommunication. We we're then told we had reached our time limit when it was their fault for the delays. The two tables near us seemed to have the same issue. I don't eat much because I have a monster of a husband to make it worth it, but I left hungry... read more

I came here to eat with my husband with the intention of eating together (as one does at a restaurant) but we could not because they FORGOT half of the order. After my husband reminded them of the portion of the order they had forgotten it took them another 20 minutes on top of the 40 minutes we had already waited initially for our food. They did not even have the courtesy to tell us that they had forgotten to make the order, making us sit and wait while the rest of our food gets cold. Along with this they tried to charge us for rolls we did not order on the check. Overall, waste of time and money. read more

Has anyone ever rooted for a restaurant so deeply, but ended up getting completely disappointed? That's me with this place. Between the decor, price, selection, and the service, this place has all of the tools it needs to be spectacular. The service was truly some of the best I've ever had in an AYCE atmosphere. Food came quick, the servers were extremely polite, and they answered each and every question I had- they even let me charge my phone, I was sure a thankful tourist at that point. The decor is bright and modern, with open windows to give a great mixture of natural light that brightened the space. For $32.99 a person, this combination of factors made my very anticipatory of the meal. However.... The food was abysmal at best. The best 2 items I had were the Takoyaki (ok, admittedly, these were some of the best I've ever had) and the miso soup (also delicious with a very strong miso flavor). If every dish was just as good as the takoyaki and miso soup, this would have been a home run. However, the chicken yakitori was absolutely massacred with CHEESE And MAYO (?!?!?!?!?!). I've never, in my entire Japanese-food eating life, ever seen these condiments on yakitori. It completely ruined the what already was a below average chicken skewer. The Tiger Roll and the Spicy Scallop Roll had SO... MUCH.. RICE!!! Like I get it, this is all you can eat, a lot of rice is expected, but this was atrocious! I tasted 0 scallop in the spicy scallop Roll, and the tiger Roll fell into the same category. Both tasted like rice- plain, UNSEASONED, cold, hard white rice. Moving along the sushi train to hell, the Nigiri, unsurprisingly, ALSO had was too much rice. However, this was a far worse scenario for two reasons. The first is that the rice came out as hard as a brick and super cold. The sushi makers did not form the nigiri with their hands, rather they plopped a thin slice of fish over the worst rice I've ever had in a sushi restaurant to date. Secondly, there were no sauces or toppings to detract from the horrific rice or the FISHY FISH. I SO wanted to love this nigiri pieces- the pictures looked so good!! Alas, these were the worst AYCE sushi pieces I have EVER had. Sadly. Neither the yakitori nor the sushi pieces could have prepared for the absolute worst part of the meal. The Negi Hamachi Roll, one of my favorite sushi rolls anywhere, was as close to inedible as it could get. Again, marred with the horrific rice, the worse part was the "hamachi". It would be far more accurate to call the "hamachi" Hamachi flavored ice. The fish was frozen. Entirely, utterly, frozen. My mouth filled with ice chips after every piece of the 6 piece Roll. I do not waste food, but I almost refused to finish this. At this point, I was done. I thanked the staff, tipped as generously as I could afford, and left hungry. If the owner does read these. Please, I can literally see the potential this place has. There are SO many things working in your favor BESIDES THE SUSHI. I want to see this place succeed, and I think it definitely can. Just please, fix your sushi. read more

I was super hungry one day and this place was very close to my house so I decided to give it a try. Overall, I was disappointed. Fish was not fresh, especially the yellowtail ( VERY FISHY). I could not eat it at all. Salmon also had some fishy taste to it, so I really had a hard time eating the raw ingredients. I really liked the tamago and the garlic edamame tho. They also made cotton candy on the spot for dessert, so that was fun! read more

The food was good from my perspective but the service was hands down the worst I have seen. Sat down at 7:15 and didn't leave until 9:45 and our server visited us four times in that window. Ordered appetizers right when we sat down and then didn't get back with the server for an hour for our first order of sushi. Made the mistake of thinking ordering another two rolls along with the check after that order would be the route. Good news is that we ordered that at 915. Bad news is that the check didn't come until 940. Then had to go to the bar to cash out. Would have been one star but food was good enough. With that said, I'll never go back. In response to the response, we did try to flag down folks with no success. I understand on the check point and it wouldn't have been an issue typically but given we were there for 2.5 hours we try to expedite the process. read more

Wow. When I first heard of this new sushi place in the Lincoln Park area I was skeptical at first but this place is very good and exceeded my expectations. We were able to walk in on a Saturday night with a party of 4 with no wait (most other good sushi AYCE places have hourlong wait times and don't do reservations). The service was also a 10/10. The wait staff came around quickly and often enough that all your needs to order more and other accommodations are quickly serviced and you don't have to wait too long for your food to come out. The fish quality was also superb, the proportion of salmon they give you on their salmon nigiri is something I haven't seen of other places and it tasted nice and fresh--I kept eating them like there was no tomorrow. All the appetizer dishes are also great. For $33/person this place is a great deal and has enormous value. Make sure you get a chance to try this place before it gets more popular and DePaul students swarm the place once school is back in session! read more

We came here in high hopes because we love an AYCE sushi spot. Unfortunately, it was not an enjoyable experience. Our first round took a while to come out and once we were finished, the servers didn't come back to take our next round until we flagged one of them down (took about 20-25 minutes of just waiting.) There's a rule of "5 item order per person per round" but if they're going to take that long in between rounds, it shouldn't be a rule so we're not waiting for 20-25 minutes in between rounds to order. If people over order, they can just pay the $1/piece AYCE rule. Our second round took a while so we eventually flagged someone down and told them to just cancel it so we could go (we've been here for 2 hours at this point and have only completed one round of sushi/apps.) The waiter said he will go check our order and came out with it right away. Overall, the food was decent but not worth waiting in between rounds. Not worth sitting here for 2 hours and eating 2 rounds (5 orders per person limited per round) of AYCE sushi. read more

Came to check out the place on a Friday around 1pm for lunch all you can eat. There is only one guy working in the front doing everything from answering the phone, seating/checkin vaccination cards, taking orders, cleaning, serving food, etc. Unfortunately, it makes for really terrible service and long wait times for very simple asks. (The server/host/busser/cashier/runner/greeter/security/manager is very friendly though!) Be aware of the "weekend" price for all you can eat starts on Friday. I was not the only one confused that it wasn't a weekday lunch price when I had dined in, it needs to be clarified on the menu. The food is pretty good and the price is great for what you could get if the service improved. read more

We came here with a party of 5 on a Wednesday at 6pm. We opted for the all you can eat. The server did not mention/say anything to us once she got us seated. We sat there staring at each other for a good 15 mins and she came back asking if we were ready to order. I told her we didn't get anything or a menu to look at?? She then proceeded to let us know that we were suppose to scan a tiny QR code for the menu but there was nothing on the table to scan.. They have a huge selection of apps to choose from and a good amount of sushi as well. We opted for just the typical nigiri such as salmon, squid, tuna, unagi and some rolls... the rolls were smothered in mayo or the sauce it comes with. The rolls tasted like they were all prepared in advanced and was just sitting waiting for someone to order cause they came out FAST. Some of the fish that were in the rolls felt/tasted dry. There was ALOT of rice on the nigiris. I mean I already expected that but it was not pleasant eating that much rice with the super thin slice of fish. The apps were just okay they were not anything special. They didnt have a few things available that we wanted at the time. Overall it was not good In my opinion and would not come back. There are better AYCE restaurants out there plus the price was kinda expensive.. this review is quite late as we went on a Wednesday before fathers days to celebrate. It was quite a let down and disappointing. read more
