Great sushi buffet!! Lost some stars because the ice water that I got was very very weird tasting!! I was so confused by the flavor profile that I had to wash water down with other items like more sushi ...weird. Sushi though is fresh, delicious, huge quantities and I was pleasantly surprised and pleased by the selection it is the same as the sushi palace in Somerville. Weird thing is, it's in the basement and parking here is worse than Somerville. So for someone visiting he area is just annoying but otherwise if you lived in the area than this would be great! This place is in the downtown area of summit so parking can be difficult to find if you're going on a busy weekend night. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building, but the sign is visible from the street. Overall the place was clean and full of people on a Friday night. I made a reservation for 7 people but we were seated in a booth which was so cramped. The sushi was good but the service was not good. We had to ask multiple times for WATER and a wine bottle opener. They finally brought out glasses for wine and didn't open our bottles for us so I had to do it myself. I don't know if I would ever come back to this place. Maybe not with a large group, but I'm sure there are better places out there with all you can eat sushi IMO. read more

We have two growing boys and they absolutely LOVE Spicy Tuna rolls and Sashimi and this place is perfect for them. The service is the great. The ladies are amazing. They check in frequently for more sushi, water glasses are kept full and plates taken away to make room for more plates. We always go for the All You Can Eat option and start with Seaweed Salad, Miso Soup or House Salad. For appetizers, we usually order the Gyoza, BBQ calamari or Edamame. Start with an order and add more as you want. Sometimes the gyoza comes 2 to an order and once 4 to an order so starting with 1 will prevent you from getting too much. At this point, the boys jump to the rolls, sushi and sashimi and get their fill. My husband usually orders the tempura udon and my mom usually orders some tempura and teriyaki. Our favorites taro and sweet potato tempura and the snapper teriyaki. Again, all this all you can eat! We usually end our meal with green tea ice cream which is also all you can eat.. crazy but true. I've been to other sushi palaces and i would like to say this is my least favorite. the waitresses seems like they just don't care about you at all. we gave them the paper marked with what we like to order and she walked right pass us. it takes too long in between to get someone's attention and put our order in. sushi was good like the other locations but it took a really long time to get to our table. i had ordered the seafood udon soup and they skimmed me by just giving me udon and veggies, no seafood. i could wait a good amount of time if they had gotten my order right, but none of that happened. i was really turned off and i don't think i'd return to this location unless i'm super desperate. read more

We ordered three different times. For the most part, we got the food that we ordered. Two times we tried to get the red snapper teriyaki, but it never came. We also got an extra spicy seaweed salad, and two extra rolls. Normally I wouldn't be mad about getting extra food, but we felt obligated to finish the extra rolls so we wouldn't get charged for wasting food. The seafood was very fresh. The spicy seaweed salad was very misleading and not spicy at all. The shumai was deep fried which I wasn't the biggest fan of. The tempura could have used a little more salt, but overall it was good. This restaurant is a level below ground, and once you descend into it you are welcomed by pseudo-oriental decoration with purple/blue hues that make it feel ALMOST like it's a cool bar...but you know you're just here for the sushi buffet. The servers are efficient and quick to hand you the paper on which you'll make your selections. The food comes out speedily, with apps coming out in 5 minutes and sushi in 15. The sashimi is the best bang for the buck yall!! Though I found 2 bones in my salmon sashimi, I can't complain for the price I paid to inhale pounds of fish. The only reason why I am giving this place a star is because the food eventually came out. My friends and I were craving sushi and they had been here before. We decided to go for their all you can eat offer. The minute we got there. We were waiting on line for a goo 15-20 minutes. Even though there were about 5 waitresses walking past the line (and no host/hostess to be seen) the entire time, not one tried to seat any of us. The minute we sat down and filled out the sheet and handed it to the waitress, we waited approximately 20 minutes for our salad (my friends got their house salad, i waited like 15 minutes for my Kani salad, and the only reason why it didn't take longer, I had to ask for it). But we weren't the only ones waiting an excessive amount of time since the table across from ours had waited the same amount for theirs. We waited a good 45-60 minutes for the first round of food. And you can only assume the rest. We were there for 2 hours for barely any food. The sushi was ok. Nothing to brag about. For an average sushi spot with horrible and inattentive service... I came for the all you can eat special on a Sunday evening with 2 guests. Restaurant is on the lower level of a building. Inside is just "meh" - basic decorations. Not exactly an... inviting atmosphere. We were seated right away - not too crowded. I was actually afraid to try this place because many reviews mention their orders being messed up or waiting a long time for their food. I know I am in the minority here but I am extremely disappointed in this particular Sushi Palace. We are avid sushi eaters, consuming sushi at least once a week. When we don't go to our regular place in Westfield we frequent Sushi Palace in Edison. When we heard that they opened a Sushi Palace close to our house we were so excited! The location of this restaurant can't be beat, it is located in the main drag across from the train station. The restaurant is in the basement of a building, you can take the elevator downstairs press "B" and it will lead you straight there. We ordered our regular items and tried a new roll this time. The roll was called Jersey Girl, and words cannot begin to describe how disgusting it tasted. As a child, my parents would give me orange flavored cod liver oil to help build my immunity. No matter what I ate, I could never get that taste out of my mouth and I would have fish burps..the Jersey Girl roll brought back that disgusting fish taste. Even our regular roll the Dragon, was done wrong. The chef put some sauce on it, that tasted like rancid fish. Anyone who eats high quality raw fish will tell you it doesn't taste fishy,but rather has a subtle taste with buttery texture..almost melts in your mouth. But every roll that included fish here had an overpowering taste, and the texture was off. Appetizers were not as good as the same appetizers served at the one in Edison. The rolls were sloppy and kept falling apart. The waitress kept forgetting to refill our tea, and we weren't given oranges we usually are. We ordered a total of 6 rolls shared between two people, our usual but we couldn't eat what we usually eat. Being patrons of the Edison location, we knew we would be charged for any left overs but we couldn't stomach finishing the rolls here. We left so confused because we love Sushi Palace in Edison, for the price it is a fantastic value so we were expecting the same level at the one in Summit. My husband made a great observation that the rent in a strip mall in Edison is much lower than the rent in a prime location in Summit so to cut cost it is possible they cut quality. On a side note, the bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. In terms of handicap accessibility, the ramp going up the bathrooms doesn't have a hand rail on either side. The bathroom door is difficult to open, it is not a level type knob but the circle knobs so individuals who are quadriplegic or have minimal hand dexterity would not be able to open it. In the men's bathrooms the handicap stall door swings in not outward, so be prepared to do your business with spectators. The vanity extends so far out that it is difficult to reach the faucet , and if you want some soap well good luck because it is located against the wall with the mirrors and it is not automatic, my husband almost fell out of his chair trying to reach the soap. As far as the woman's bathroom, we noticed the same discrepancies in addition to the fact that our shoes kept sticking to the floors..eww! Overall we did not have a positive experience here. Sushi Palace brings back fond memories when I was a hungry, broke college student who was looking to get my money's worth for food. These days I'm more about quality over quantity for sushi. When my friend suggested this place for dinner, I was dreading so-so quality sushi that you generally get with AYCE. I was pleasantly surprised that all the sushi had a fresh quality taste. Just for the sushi alone, I would give this place 4/5 stars. Service on the other hand is pretty bad. My friend kept asking for a refill on tea at least 5 times. Servers kept bringing over dishes we never ordered. And our 2nd plate of sushi didn't come until 20 minutes later. Parking is definitely a hassle. I would suggest parking in the broad street east lot if you can't find any nearby lots. It's free after 6 on Friday's. So happy sushi palace is doing well and has opened its 4th restaurant! I've loved Sushi Palace since it opened by me in Edison. We go pretty often...considering the affordable price and all you can eat option ...you just can't beat it...especially in larger groups. Weeknights is $21 which is such a steal for all you can eat and made to order from your table. It totally beats a sushi buffet where everything is just sitting out and you have to stand and fight for what you want. Here, it's casual and carefree. You get to really enjoy your meal! It's also BYOB....huge plus! I can't say enough how much I love this. I brought my mom to the new Summit restaurant for her birthday and the manager brought us a free salmon appetizer and a fried ice cream for free to try (not on the all you can eat menu). It was such a nice gesture to make us feel special on the occasion. As always I enjoyed the endless tempura (I love shrimp and taro) and salmon sashimi haha. But of course we also had seaweed salad, noodles, and lots of other menu items. The beef kushi was great as well.. It's like mini steak kebabs...amazing! Thoroughly satisfied with my experience! The fish is definitely not as fresh as it was before. The tables are more sticky. I noticed a stain on my soy sauce dish that I haven't seen prior in my experience. They messed up one of my first cooked food order although there weren't many people in yet. Big disappointment on the green tea ice cream. It was my very first time eating here at "Sushi Palace" and I loved EVERYTHING about it! The moment I walked in, they had a whole downstairs to enjoy yourself and they even had a fish tank with my favorite type of fish. We came to this place a few times. The food is pretty consistent and it's OK. It is what you expect from all you can eat sushi spots. The service however is pretty slow. So I recommend that you place most of what you want at one time because it will take hours until you get the rest of your order. I personally like the appetizers more than the sushi. You cannot go wrong with the Kani salad. Their sushi is also good. Parking could be a little challenging but you can certainly find parking around the corner. I came for dinner with my boyfriend on 8:30 last Tuesday and the place was quiet with only two filled tables there. I can imagine the place getting busier over the weekends. This spot is located on the bottom floor of a business building. Very clean and has ample seating. Of course we went for the All You Can Eat dinner option and it's $20/ person on weeknights. Decent price for unlimited sushi and appetizers. Their rolls are pretty solid, and I especially enjoyed their beef teriyaki and also the mango sauce they featured on the side of the calamari and on top of the butterfly roll. Really good stuff!! I come here with my family a lot. It's very conveniently located in Downtown Summit, next to the train station. Parking can be a hassle sometimes; best to go after 6 when you can scrounge up some free parking. I think they have a a la carte menu but I've never really seen anyone use it. What you come here for is the All You Can Eat menu- about $22 on the weekdays and $24 on the weekends. Now the AYCE menu is pretty great. The main thing here is variety, when you're coming with picky eaters, there's sure to be something that everyone will like. They have separate paper menus for their kitchen and sushi bar fares, where you check off how much you want of each item (I'll remember to add pictures next time we go) I recommend the spicy seaweed salad, which is this really stellar mix of kani salad, seaweed salad, panko, and mayo, and maybe some sriracha, but it's not really actually that spicy in case you were worried. It's really a wonderful appetizer, and we never neglect to order a couple servings for the table. As for other items, they really run the gamut for classic Japanese-American restaurant offerings, you get free reign on ordering hot foods like gyoza, shumai, calamari, tempura, miso soup, katsu etc. all executed respectably well (except for the sauce that accompanies the crispy calamari, it's not my favorite, too sweet) but of note is the BBQ squid, it's vey tasty and delightfully tender and chewy in a good way My family comes for the sushi's and sashimi, although their rolls seem to be more popular generally. The sushi is good. Not great, not amazing, but definitely not bad. The rice to fish ratio is not great, it's not that the fish is unsubstantial, just that the accompanying rice is a bit overboard (they tryna fill you up) which is an understandable tactic, but just my largest gripe with the food. But what else is to be expected of an AYCE place? The selection of fish is nice: tuna, white tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and I'm a happy girl. Although they do have a larger selection you can see for yourself. Finally it's inclusive of ice cream! The green tea ice cream is particularly tasty. It's also all you can eat. Found this place google searching ayce sushi places in the area after coming from the our lady of peace country fair in new providence this past Saturday night. If ur not careful you will overlook this place since it is downstairs and only has a sign outside. Coming in it is spacious, and wasn't busy so we were sat right away and food came out super fast. The food was pretty good nothing amazing but we were satisfied and love trying new places for ayce sushi, so it's good to keep this place in mind if we are super hungry and ever in the area I guess.
