Salmon sushi (up close) very fresh.
Will B.

First time here. A nice medium sized venue inside of a small strip mall, so there's a parking lot with a good amount of parking. A nice warm interior, & polite staff. Japanese style decor, although I swear the Woman on the large portraits is a Non-Japanese Woman dressed in a stereotypical Japanese fashion. I found that oddly amusing. The sushi was very good & fresh. I had the salmon sushi, volcano, foxy lady, & spring breeze rolls. Nothing this time genuinely "wowed" me, but I would happily come back and try more from their menu. Grades: Volcano roll- B Foxy Lady roll- B- Spring Breeze roll- B Salmon Sushi- A

The worse part of this restaurant is irs BYOB. Ha! The eel avocado roll was on point. The mango avo was good. We got a spicy tuna roll for free. It was excellent. The bento was best ever. Super juicy teriyaki chicken. The fried rice was a $5 upgrade. Very good. The dumplings were very good. Huge fan of this restaurant and its 4 mins from new home.

***4 1/2 stars*** Very pleasant way to kick off the weekend. I stopped by for lunch on Friday with my top tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality. I'm not THAT familiar with Westfield beyond a few random cameo appearances (one of which was to visit Whitney Houston's grave), but I expect a certain level of bougieness when I'm here. Sushi & Asian IS definitely a little higher class than a lot of the sushi establishments you'll find in a strip mall (in Westfield, even the strip malls are kind of gorgeous), with a darker, urban interior. There was a mesmerizing piece of art on the lefthand wall that depicted a female samurai balancing sushi rolls on a sword that I couldn't take my eyes of. We were seated and attended to promptly - given that we were literally next to the front window, there's an argument it was a little TOO dark in there, especially for lunchtime. Minor quibble, if that. Anyway. Even for a sushi place, the menu is really extensive here - even if you're not a raw fish enthusiast, there's a lot of different directions to go. We split the Rock Shrimp app, which was a nice surprise. It's not unusual for restaurants to overly fry this dish, but this was perfectly done - crisp but not overwhelmingly so. A nice mango flavor to it, which is one of my favorite seafood accompaniments (and something I often request in sushi rolls). For my entree, I went with a salmon/avocado roll and an edgy special roll, Beauty and the Beast, featuring a myriad of fish - spicy tuna, spicy salmon, "regular" tuna and salmon, along with yellowtail. Very tasty, and I liked that the special roll was significantly larger than the normal/classic roll, which isn't always the case. The fish was very fresh, and the special roll had a nice taste profile - lot of different players on the palate. My chum prides herself on often getting "real" sushi when we go to places like this and opted for the a bowl of sashimi. If she didn't like it, I certainly would have heard about it during the meal and for a considerable period of time thereafter. The presentation on that was interesting - it's hard to see in the accompanying picture, but there was a boat underneath the fish, which I think are usually reserved for gigantic parties but I like that they have single serving options available here. Nice touch. It's honestly unusual for me to have a service issue at a sushi restaurant (which makes me think it's tied to culture), and this was no exception. We were a LITTLE on the clock for a quiet work from home Friday so any delays would have been more noticeable than usual but it was well paced from beginning to end. Our waitress was attentive and stopped by regularly. After side-eyeing a scrumptious looking deep fried ice cream dish at a nearby table I wish we'd had a little more time to play with, but alas. The curse of adulting. Definitely worth another visit though I'd recommend avoiding the downtown Westfield traffic situation if we can. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that that artistic masterpiece on the wall ends up at an upcoming townwide yard sale.

Fresh, tasty, reasonably priced sushi that will please most people. It's not high end but is much better than other spots in the area. The location is easy to access and has free parking, making it easy to pick up lunch or dinner take-out. I ordered the two sushi roll lunch special, which comes with a choice of either soup or salad. I appreciate the effort in packing the sushi. It was attractively displayed; they gave plenty of wasabi, ginger and soy sauce. The place is very clean and tidy and doesn't smell of fish. The staff was efficient. It's nice enough to eat in. The rolls were very fresh. This will be my place for takeout sushi.

A little bit of everything from this wonderful little spot made for a great night of take out! It's my favorite thing to order way too much food for take out and pick at it all night. And of course have plenty of leftovers for the next day. Our order from Sushi & Asian Kitchen was: Seaweed salad, salmon martini x2, pineapple fried rice and basil fried rice, salmon avocado roll, eel avocado roll and a spicy salmon roll (lots of deep breaths between courses). Everything was seriously beyond wonderful! I could have eaten 10 of the salmon martinis, they were 100% my favorite of the night. If you like raw fish salads (avocado, cucumber, light sauce, etc) you'll love this. It comes with some crunchies too, so we got one with and one without for my friend that is GF. Other standouts from the order: literally all of the sushi, but my favorite is always eel avocado. The fried rice were both great as well, but I think the sushi stood out to me more. We ordered for pick up and it was ready when we arrived but I don't think they offer delivery. I think all of this came out to around $80 and it was really easy to order online. This is now a favorite spot when I am in the area and I am not sure if I would try anything new or get my exact same order forever and ever.

I've been on a Sushi&Asian Kitchen kick for my weekly special rolls fix. The restaurant doesn't deliver and doesn't appear to be on any of the food delivery apps, but they're located in a shopping mall outside of the downtown, so it's very easy to park and walk in. The rolls are ready so fast. They've consistently been ready like 20 minutes after placing the order. I've tried sweet plus, spring breeze, salmon amazing, foxy lady, tuna amazing, summer, sunshine, and spicy girl rolls. They've all been so fresh and delicious. The only roll I wasn't crazy about was the sunshine roll because it had WAY too much jalapeño in it, making it too crunchy and spicy. The rolls are on the smaller side for special rolls. Also, they don't give you the shrimp tails in the rolls containing shrimp tempura, so you're getting less shrimp than at other places. I can easily look past these small shortcomings because the rolls are SO good. Be sure to pay cash because you get a 10% discount.

Quality was fairly good. It's not high end sushi but prices are reasonable (at least at lunch) I did the chirasi bowl and was hungry after due to the portion size. Next time I will try the bento box instead. Curbside pickup during covid lockdown was very easy. Paid over the phone in advance and food was waiting at table by door when I arrived.

This warmly decorated new establishment that now sits where a sushi place previously was is a great surprise when you walk in. Greated by jazz standards and a really nice staff this place is fantastic. Let the chef guide you and you will be happy you did!!

I was in the mood for Japanese food so tried this spot. When I arrived I parked in their parking lot in the plaza. When I walked in the waiter sat me in one if the back booths. I liked the ambiance and the music they played. For dinner I ordered the vegetable gyoza, spring rolls, miso soup and vegetable udon. I liked the vegetable gyoza and spring rolls. The miso soup was ok and I didn't care for the vegetable udon because it had a funny taste to it. The bill was about $30 altogether which wasn't bad. All in all I had a decent experience.

You can ask for chili garlic sauce on the side if you want to add extra spice, it's good! This spot has become one of our favorite Thai places to go to when we're in this part of NJ. The menu has many choices, but for our first visit we got our staples for Thai. Soring roll was crispy and tasty, the curry puff was good too. Also got the green papaya salad. The spicy dressing with toasted peanuts was tasty, but way too watery, and i found the papaya to be too crunchy. My wife got the Pad Thai with chicken, which was good but not remarkable. I got the sautéed Eggplant Basil with chicken which was great. Slightly spicy with onions, peppers, very flavorful brown sauce and jasmine rice on the side. Large enough portions to take home and have lunch for tomorrow. Also, they have a nice selection of desserts. We got the Carrot Cake which was pedestrian, but the fried bananas with icecream was fantastic. The bananas were carmelized within a crispy spring roll wrapper and went great with the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. We will visit again to try more on the large menu.

There's a backroom that could be used for parties or overflow. Ample parking nearby. The food was just not up to par. Nearly any other Thai restaurant has better food and I'm not judging it against the best ones. While both appetizers were good- Crab Ragoon and Thai Shumai - we both ordered the Pad Thai, my friend with shrimp and I ordered chicken. The main taste was of ketchup and the teh dish had a sort of dark and musky flavor. Now ketchup is used in Asian cooking, but not as the dominant flavor in Pad Thai. And it didn't have that bright flavor you associate with Thai food. In a effort to get a more balanced and less dark flavor, I asked for more limes and peanuts. Nope, didn't really help. While my chicken was appropriately cooked, the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. We both had the Sticky Mango Rice which had little sauce to marry the rice and the mango. If the food was the only issue, it would have been 3 stars. But the service was simply unprofessional. So let me start out with I understand there were only one other couple eating dinner, insofar as we could see. And we arrived at 7:00. The restaurant closes at 9. It was a Tuesday night. As we ate our main course, the waiter repeatedly tried to clear our entree plates. We were still eating. Rather annoying but they continued to try and take our plates though, again, we were still eating. Then they brought desserts and tried to shove them on the table for two when there was no room since our entree were still there! Assuming we'd never see them again, I suggested we put them on the adjacent table. We left a 8.30, while they were closing up. So heres the deal. You want to close up while we're there and still eating, fine. I really don't have an issue. But trying to grab plates while we're eating and doing it repeatedly and insisting on serving dessert when we are still eating our entrees is simply not professional and appropriate. Another star demerit.

The restaurant had only a few people when we walked in. Two of us arrived first and we were seated immediately while waiting for the third person, who came about 5 minutes later. I mention this detail because a lot of restaurants are strict about not seating you until the entire party arrives (I appreciate Nakorn for not sweating the small stuff). It was my second time and their first time (per my suggestion). We're all foodies so I was confident they'd enjoy! And I was right :) For starters, we shared a curry puff appetizer (3 pieces). Small size, BIG flavor!! Especially paired with the pickled sauce. Chef's kiss! For our main dishes - I had the Chicken Pad See Ew and they tried the Mixed Seafood Pad See Ew (shrimp, scallops, and mussels). Everything was delicious!!! Had it not been for the intriguing conversation around the table, we easily would not have any leftovers to take home. It is a BYOB establishment, so we brough Sake and enjoyed it in the wine glasses provided by Nakorn. I love downtown Summit and all of its foodie glory, but if you've ever been, you know what parking is like. Free after 6pm Monday - Saturday and free all day Sunday. There's a small lot directly across the street from Nakorn, which is convenient. Be intentional though, the parking spaces go fast.
