I love the decor here! It fits the aesthetic as soon as you walk in. Artsy with a flair. There wasn't a wait, we were seated immediately. Such a nice, clean, warm, open space. The seating is perfect because it doesn't feel overcrowded. Though the restaurant wasn't full when we arrived. The crowd swelled eventually. I would've given this place 5 stars if the service was better. We were a party of two. Both lovers of Thai cuisine and 8thai was next on our list. What a delight! My Pad See Ew with chicken was delicious! I also had some chili oil on the side, which had some spice but so yummy. The papaya salad was just okay, but everything else otherwise was awesome. I especially love the window seating, it's a great option if you're dining solo and want to people watch. I'll be back again. I recommend this place for good Thai food and decent prices. I hope to try their duck next time.

Pad Woon Sen just ok, I had much better

I'm kinda shocked about the good reviews based on the two dinners my husband and I ordered. We had the chicken rama otherwise known as Pra Ram and pad woon sen. The chicken in the chicken Rama dish was very dry and the sauce was no where near as good as it's supposed to be. Pra Ram is supposed to taste like peanut butter and be creamy in texture. The sauce in my dish was watery, and it didn't taste anything like peanut butter. I suggest the chef go to Thai Diner in Clark and see how that dish is actually supposed to be made. The pad woon sen was just ok , but not nearly as good as it's supposed to be. The sauce to that dish had no flavor and not nearly as good as it's supposed to be. There are far better Thai restaurants out there so I don't recommend this one.

Green Curry Chicken, shrimp pad Thai and beef pad see ew

Ordered to go, but inside was well decorated and has a nice ambiance. Looked like a great spot for a date night so I would recommend dining in if you can. The food was good, overall tasty. I liked the curry more than the noodles actually, in which we tried pad Thai and pad see ew. Their Thai iced tea is very good too as I got to try that. Parking is available with a small lot on the side but the main street can get busy.

I may be a sucker for Thai food but this is up there with some of the best Thai food I have ever had. The inside was super clean and modern with plenty of seating. The service was prompt and all food came out piping hot. The mummy shrimp was out of this world. The outer layer almost tasted like a frosted mini wheat deep fried around a shrimp, insanely good! The shrimp pad Thai had a classic taste and was nothing too special but great nonetheless. The pineapple fried rice with chicken was so fresh and had cashew nuts that added that extra crunch and dimension to a super flavorful dish. I had lychee lemonade for the first time ever and it was amazing! It almost has a white peach type of flavor but it's not too sweet and super refreshing. Definitely recommend stopping by 8 Thai for a date night or even a work party!

Delicious dinner - country style noodles with tofu and red curry w tofu. Food was delicious served quickly, and it was hot. My 6th time here.

Lovely restuarant with a very cute interior. I ordered food for pickup and the person who took my order was very helpful. The dishes I ordered were a solid 3. The shrimp mummy were a good size but I can tell they fry everything in the same pot and they don't swap the oil out often. All in all, I wouldn't order again. The Pad se Ew with chicken had a very deep molasses taste. It was ok but the chicken was very overcooked.

My usual Thai place had been lacking so I decide to try this one. Ordered a chicken pad see ew, a chicken pad Thai and sticky rice with mango. The entrees were tasty and portions were a good size. I was left disappointed in the dessert. For the cost It was tiny and did not look appetizing. The taste left a lot to be desired. The rice was a purple rice which was fine but the grains were hard, sticky rice should be chewy. I would come here again just skip the dessert.

8Thai is a great addition to the Cranford, NJ dining scene! Cool ambience and tasty food! It has so many options that if you're unsure about Thai food or are a first Thai-mer, you'll be just fine! With their extensive menu, there's something for everyone. BYOB helps keep the cost down, which is a plus these days! The noise level can be a make or break for me, and here it was just right! It was noticeable how hard the waitresses were working, which was admirable. We will be back! PS Do NOT leave without trying their Thai ice tea! Incredibly good and oh so refreshing!

This was hands down one of the best meals I've had in ages and probably the top 2 Thai restaurants I've ever been to. We ordered so much food, assuming we would take at least half of it home, but had a hard time stopping and nearly finished it all before we left. The staff was so lovely - happy, friendly people. We had: -Green papaya salad - perfect balance and just the right amount of spice (level 1) -Chicken Larb - level 1 -also perfect -Red curry chicken, substituted the bell peppers with Chinese broccoli - level 2 - perfect heat and consistency of the sauce -Street cabbage - wok charred with a garlicky sauce- such a simple dish but so much flavor. -Thai fried rice - straightforward & delicious 10 out of 10 -no notes. The flavors were pretty good yet the rice was not as fluffy and was too chunky for us. We continue to go many miles out of our way to get Thai and I just hope this place gets it right. Also - many of their dishes do not include the rice which is shameful. All Thai restaurants I've visited include rice with the dish. They should host a Yelp elite event to gather honest feedback.

The food is so delicious, prepped quickly, and enjoyable on any occasion. I cannot express enough how elated I feel upon writing this review, even hours after the experience. Normally, I'm not a big fan of steamed dumplings, so I was a little disappointed at first. However, the flavor was excellent and definitely exceeded my expectations, so I can't complain too much about the mix-up. The real star of the meal was the Yellow Curry Crispy Duck. Absolutely amazing! The duck was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the curry had incredible flavor. I ordered it with spice level 1, which was just right for me and allowed all of the flavors to shine through. My only real complaint is the portioning of the rice. While the half crispy duck portion was quite generous, the amount of rice provided didn't seem to match the amount of meat. For the price I paid, I feel like the rice portion should automatically be adjusted to complement the entrée. Having to request extra rice just doesn't make much sense when there's plenty of duck left over. I'm usually not picky about things like this, but considering the cost of the meal, I expected a little better balance. Other than that, the staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant itself is a small hole-in-the-wall spot with a cozy, authentic feel. It's the kind of place that locals seem to know and enjoy. I actually discovered it while heading to a Mexican restaurant with some coworkers and decided to give it a try because I'm a big fan of Thai food. Overall, I'm glad I did. The food quality was excellent, the flavors felt authentic, and the crispy duck alone is worth coming back for. Despite a couple of minor issues, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. If you enjoy authentic Thai cuisine, you'll likely leave satisfied. Authentic taste and quality ingredients--everyone should give it a try!

The restaurant had only a few people when we walked in. Two of us arrived first and we were seated immediately while waiting for the third person, who came about 5 minutes later. I mention this detail because a lot of restaurants are strict about not seating you until the entire party arrives (I appreciate Nakorn for not sweating the small stuff). It was my second time and their first time (per my suggestion). We're all foodies so I was confident they'd enjoy! And I was right :) For starters, we shared a curry puff appetizer (3 pieces). Small size, BIG flavor!! Especially paired with the pickled sauce. Chef's kiss! For our main dishes - I had the Chicken Pad See Ew and they tried the Mixed Seafood Pad See Ew (shrimp, scallops, and mussels). Everything was delicious!!! Had it not been for the intriguing conversation around the table, we easily would not have any leftovers to take home. It is a BYOB establishment, so we brough Sake and enjoyed it in the wine glasses provided by Nakorn. I love downtown Summit and all of its foodie glory, but if you've ever been, you know what parking is like. Free after 6pm Monday - Saturday and free all day Sunday. There's a small lot directly across the street from Nakorn, which is convenient. Be intentional though, the parking spaces go fast.

Overall, a really good experience at Siwa Thai! Everything we ordered had good flavor, and the…read moreportions were generous, but a few dishes were missing that extra something that would've taken them to the next level. Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) -- 4/5 Great flavor and plenty of chicken! My only complaint was that the broth lacked a little depth compared to other Tom Kha soups I've had. It was pretty thin, which isn't necessarily unusual for this soup, but I've had versions with a richer, more layered flavor and a little more body. Still a really enjoyable soup and a solid way to start the meal. Roti Thai Style (Roti with Massaman Curry) -- 3/5 This one was a little disappointing, mostly because of the texture and consistency. The curry dipping sauce was pretty loose and didn't really cling to the roti, while the roti itself wasn't particularly flaky. It was actually a little limp. Flavor-wise, it was good, and there was a generous amount of chicken and other ingredients in the curry, which I appreciated. But I personally prefer a little more substance to both the bread and the sauce. Penang in Edison does this dish exceptionally well, in my opinion, so that's kind of my benchmark. Not a bad dish by any means, just didn't quite hit the mark for me. Thai Red Curry -- 5/5 Easily the star of the meal! The red curry absolutely stole the show. The combination of peanuts, basil, and that rich, delicious curry flavor worked so well together. Spoon it over some white rice and you've got yourself a fantastic dish. It was the perfect way to round out the meal after a couple of appetizers that were tasty but didn't quite blow me away. I'd absolutely come back for this one! Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) -- 4/5 Another solid dish! Plenty of chicken and peppers, which I loved, and the overall flavor was really good. My biggest complaint was that it didn't quite hit my preferred spice level. I like my drunken noodles with a little more heat and a bit more sauce to really coat everything. A little more of both would've gone a long way here. Still, definitely an enjoyable noodle dish that I'd recommend. Final Thoughts Siwa Thai gets a solid 4/5 from me. The flavors were good across the board, portions were generous, and that curry alone is worth coming back for. I just think a little more attention to texture, consistency, and depth of flavor in some of the other dishes would really elevate the experience. Definitely a place I'd order from again, and I'll be getting that curry when I do!

The dish in question was a dish called Pad Mee Duck and I've had it prior many times, but in other restaurants. What I received was steaming hot, but gloppy in texture and overly sweet. The duck had been deep fried, then sliced. It was in a shell of some kind of breading, maybe panko but the oil in the deep fat fryer was burnt tasting. Perhaps it should be changed more often? The noodles instead of being stir fried and crispy were sodden and listless. There was a disconnect somewhere between recipe and execution. Both were lacking. The vegetables, typical Asian style were just that. Typical. Not very fresh. But the duck was inedible and this dish was far from inexpensive. Don't order this preparation. It really needs work.
