I've been to Sushi Masa a couple of times for the AYCE and the dinner menu is absolutely worth it. Service is overall good but can be a little bit slower if you choose to do the dinner menu during lunch time so keep that in mind. It's fantastic that that's even an option though. Because the focus seems to be AYCE it seems better for families or for a casual date. The quality of the sushi is fantastic. The fish is super high quality and fresh and the best part of the dinner menu is that you can order sashimi! I thought that the salmon and the yellowtail sushi and sashimi were really good here. The rice in the sushi was cooked perfectly and was seasoned great. Appetizers were fine too but nothing special in particular. I'll keep coming back if the fish quality remains high! read more

Went here to celebrate my brother's birthday and was super happy we made a reservation a head of time. They are super busy during the weekends but luckily we didn't have to wait. Service was great and the food was decent. The sealing deal for me was no caps on the amount of sushi or sashimi each round. This has the absolute worst service I've experienced by far because of the 4 girl hosts standing at the front. They were incredibly rude and did not even acknowledge us when we walked up to the hostess stand. When we were speaking to them, they snapped back at us along with cutting us off. They were on their phones the whole time instead of speaking to us when we first walked up to the stand. The attitude and entitlement was appalling to see considering our past experience here was fine. After we told them how many people we were here for (which was 9) the girl rolled her eyes and snapped at us again. We waited 20 minutes until someone from my party asked if our table was ready because we noticed an empty table. They nodded their head towards the direction. This is disappointing that Sushi Masa does not train their hostesses on how to be decent human beings who have any sense of respect for their customers. We enjoyed our visit to Sushi Masa. I had the sushi AYCE and my husband had hibachi chicken. They have a sliding scale for kids on the AYCE option which is cool. I love that not everyone at our table had to get the menu; this is great for parties with people who don't like sushi. Best of both worlds. The AYCE options was good but I wish they brought smaller portions so you can try more things. I didn't want to waste food so I was only able to fry two rolls. Both were good but I wanted more variety. The tempura was fresh and a nice variety of veggies. We went midday on a Saturday. The waitress only had one table in our section but she was attentive. The place is set up with cool trees and a beautiful entrance. They covered the fireplace from When it was the steakhouse but didn't clean or paint the brick so that's a little weird. We had a great time at Sushi Masa. We ordered a number of foods from their AYCE menu and we were not disappointed, every single dish was delicious and enjoyable. I really liked their cucumber roll and Sushi Masa has the option to order rolls made without rice for a small upcharge. This was impressive because that's difficult to make and I love seeing low-carb options as I have a low carb diet. We visited Saturday night and unfortunately service was extremely slow and the server seemed frazzled. Some of the dishes we ordered got forgotten about. I came here for the first time this evening and had such a wonderful experience. The restaurant itself is pretty big and busy. They mix modern interior with traditional decor to provide a welcoming environment. They offer AYCE sushi and or a la carte sushi along with other kitchen items such as hibachi, rice bowls, and noodle soups. The hostess in the front greeted me upon arrival, they did their best to accommodate my requests which I'm very thankful for! My server was Tony and he was very friendly and attentive! I met the managers, Tim and Andy, and they were both very kind and generous people! I loved that everyone helps out one another here, they have a great flow of team work. The other servers were kind enough to assist in clearing my tables as well as serving the plates. The food was great as well. We tried this newly opened Japanese Fusion, Sushi and Hibachi that just opened about a month ago (Memorial Day) in Plano, TX. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and Shrimp Combo with noodles and veggies, with soup and salad. The ingredients are fresh and cooked properly. The chicken and shrimps are moist and soft. It's delicious. The place has a waiting list and we only wait for about 10 minutes. Serving Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Obviously they're a little new so a few kinks to work out but I have to mention that we had Raymond who was amazing and helped our server out when she was busy with other tables and even brought us something that was not on the menu that we asked about. Everyone was super pleasant and accommodating. I do like that they do not make everyone at the table participate in AYCE and have other options on the menu. Probably one of the best AYCE sushi spots I've been to in the Plano area! Sushi Masa will probably be my go-to restaurant if I'm ever needing an AYCE sushi night. Came on a weeknight and it was still pretty packed, can't imagine what it's like on the weekends. AYCE is about $38(?) pp, with a variety of sushi, rolls, appetizers (yakitori, sides, katsu, tempura, salads, etc) to choose from. Cool thing was each of us got a complimentary alcoholic drink for the first round which was awesome! Favorite of the night would be yellowtail, salmon and escolar. The yellowtail was one of the best I've had in a while! Rolls were okay and not super spectacular - will probably skip out on that next time (I know, why did we order rolls at AYCE sushi, we were curious lol). The all you can eat lunch is a great value because it even includes any non-alcoholic drink with free refills (sodas or ice tea: sweet or unsweetened). Most of their servers are very attentive. The place is very clean and the music is modern light rock in English, not some Asian music in another language. It's located near a shopping mall with plenty of parking. We got on the waitlist and were seated within 15 mins. Large space, with beautiful stone walls and wood beams provide a comfortable setting that didn't feel crowded although they had a steady waitlist. The AYCE includes bottomless non-alcoholic beverages or a single wine/beer selection , appetizers and dessert for $34.95 ($21.95 at lunch). The rolls were fabulous and large. I absolutely love the scallops here, it's my fav thing!! You can either get it as sashimi or nigiri. The sushi here is very fresh and not fishy. The restaurant vibe is chill and the servers are super friendly and nice. This is my go-to spot for sashimis and appetizers. My wife, I, and friend of ours went to Sushi Masa on a Saturday night. I gotta say Sushi Masa has one of the best sushi i ever tasted in awhile. Coming from California where the Sushi is pretty top notch there. Sushi Masa is in my top five. I had the all you can eat sushi that was very good. My wife and friend had a Bento Box and they said that good also. But their dessert are very good. I would highly recommend the Tempura Cheesecake. Food The change in ownership lead to a change in the menu. It is not a good change. A lot of items have been removed. You no longer get a free drink with the all you can eat. The short ribs are just fatty pieces and no meat. The sashimi was not melt in your mouth fresh tasting like before. It was more chewy and definitely not fresh. Normally on a weekend night they are packed and there is a wait but now with the new menu changes it was very slow with zero wait. They increased their prices by a lot especially for kids. The interior is really cute and the food and service is great but the important thing here is you must not go during busy times like peak dinner time on any given night and definitely not during the weekend unless you have a lot of time to kill and/or you have the patience of a saint. Or now since we got that out of the way here are some great things about this place. It's AYCE but you don't have to get up out of your seat. They bring all the food to you! The food is exceptional, comparable to a regular sit down sushi place. A fountain drink is included in the price and it's really not that expensive at all for an AYCE sushi buffet - $21.95 for lunch $34.95 for dinner. The sashimi quality was outlandish and to my surprise I never once got a scale or bone in my fish and neither did anyone else in my party. Their cold foods were fresh, hot foods were piping hot, and their rice for their sushi and rolls had really good consistency and texture. I highly recommend this place but like I said don't come during peak times! They don't close between lunch and dinner but their lunch price stops at 2:30pm and dinner price kicks in. read more

There is plenty of seating, and the inside of the restaurant is quite large to go with friends or a big group. For a date, it can get a bit loud, but it is absolutely doable. The service is quite efficient, with your server placing your order on a tablet and the food coming out timely. The nigiri for lunch? Fresh and great quality for the price! The rolls aren't anything super special, but the baby tiger and the shaggy dog roll are good. The other rolls are good, but the nigiri really is where the food stands out! My wife and I went to Sushi Masa in Plano this past weekend for date night. We've both eaten here before and previously enjoyed it, but this visit was extremely disappointing and will likely be our last. To start, our waitress was great--this was not her fault at all. After being seated and placing our order, we waited over 30 minutes without receiving a single roll. During that time, a table next to us with four diners sat down, ordered, and received their food within minutes. Shortly after, a table behind us experienced the same thing. Meanwhile, we still had nothing. After waiting long enough, I called our waitress over and explained that while she had done nothing wrong, we were done waiting. I told her we would pay for our soft drinks and the soup that came with the all-you-can-eat and that we were leaving. The most disappointing part of the entire experience was that no manager ever came over to apologize or explain what might have happened. The only response we received was from our waitress, who told us we didn't owe anything. Good service from our waitress couldn't make up for the long wait and complete lack of management involvement. It took 13 minutes to get our drinks... which all of our drinks were literally soda and two were the exact same drink. Food did come out very quickly (alarming?!?) I'm talking like 5 minutes or less after ordering. Food- solid 3/5 for most people. I'm picky- especially with sushi. 2/5 for me. A lot of the food tasted like knockoffs of the original. Only the gyoza and the sesame balls tasted normal. Everything else tasted fake. What I've learned is places that do AYCE including both sushi and other items like rice, etc, do it all and do it badly. The "chicken fried rice" had 0 seasoning. We asked for yum yum sauce to jazz it up. The sauce looked and tasted like sweetened vanilla yogurt. It was a bright yellow... the chicken had 0 flavor. It was literally unseasoned rice + unseasoned chicken + egg. The sushi was mid. Nothing bad but nothing amazing either. All in all, I'm really bummed because I've been hoping for a decent AYCE spot but this is absolutely not it. It's $35 a person and at most I would say it's worth $15 a person for dinner. Not a great experience, horrible food and even worse service. This is one spot I will absolutely never be coming back to.
