Best Korean food I've had. The spicy beef with rice is absolutely delicious and tender. It's slightly spicy hot so be aware of that. The soup with dumplings and rice cake was delicious. The wonderful cook gave us kim chee and sesame leaves (a first for me). She also gave us strawberries. The regular water even comes cold in a container kind of like orange juice - nice touch. I've driven past this restaurant for years....and, I never stopped to try it. I feel guilty, because I underestimated it. I judged the restaurant by its signage "Sushi King". When I was 20 years old that would have been like a Star Wars tractor beam and drawn me right in. Today we stopped and gave it a go. Man O' Man was I pleasantly surprised. Forget the sushi my friends! This is an authentic and 100 percent legit Korean restaurant. If you know, you know. I absolutely loved the food. We ordered Bulgoki and Bibimbap. These were probably some of the most authentic Korean dishes we've had since we left S Korea. Kudos to the owners who run this place! Definitely a small cozy sushi place that makes feel at home when I was there at least, love the vibe, very mom and pop. Very patient service since my friend with me took forever to order and asked questions and surprisingly so polite and answered anything straight forward with respect. Plus I do appreciate they make sure they have order right a few times by asking. Always nice to have such detail. Now the food, miso soup was alright I mean glad it was scolding hot. The spicy Korean ramen , despite some may being just instant ramen with extra steps was good, plenty of noodles and I love the bits of egg and green onion. I noticed it's the most popular dish here considering all the other tables I noticed had it as well. Also the ramen was right spicy , not overkill and it's a mouth inferno. The West Point rolls, let me tell the rolls here are pretty damn big, I mean mine was stuffed, definitely not cheap on fish for sure. The taste was great, but man trying to eat massive roll with chopsticks and it not breaking apart was pretty funny. Overall a nice mom and pop sushi place I rarely see. We ordered 4 different special rolls and they were all similar with barely any variation. Will not be going back. Rolls were so big and loose they fell apart. I absolutely LOVE sushi and was beginning to feel guilty for not supporting this local sushi restaurant bc I usually order from a place in Monroe, so I decided to give it a try..... bad mistake. #1- I ordered my typical sushi combo and it was MUCH more expensive than other places I have ordered. At fist I thought- don't judge before you have it bc maybe it is worth the difference in price.... 2)- WORST sushi I have ever had. The rice was very undercooked- it was crunchy. The seaweed was so thick that I couldn't chew through it. I will say that thankfully the fish itself seemed fresh. I rarely ever leave bad reviews especially with businesses in our town struggling so badly but this was a huge disappointment and the price made it worse. :( read more

This restaurant messed up my order when taking it. The delivery was 30 minutes late and I stood outside in the rain for 30 minutes only to receive the wrong order. After receiving the wrong order, the delivery driver told me to call the restaurant. I called Sushi King 13 times before they finally picked up. I ordered 2 spicy porks and 2 rolls. I received 1 spicy pork and 3 rolls. When I called to complain, they said they would not fix my order unless I paid for the spicy pork. I told them I did not want the third roll because I did not order it, yet they refused to give my money back. They initially offered to give store credit, then changed their mind and told me I had to pay. I will never order from sushi king ever again. The person on the phone was very very rude. I was iffy on coming here because all of the bad reviews, but glad I came anyways! This place is delicious! The server/owner was super busy and kept apologizing to every table about the speed since she was the only one serving. There was an adorable family there with 2 little ones, and as they were leaving she gave them some of her cherry blossom branches. I thought that was the sweetest thing ever! When it came to our turn, we got our food pretty fast after we ordered. Shrimp udon and a few rolls (spider, spicy crunch and one more) and omggg the udon was delicious! It only came with 2 shrimps:( but the broth and noodles were just delicious. I'm a big soup person and this was just super good definitely getting this again soon! The rolls were really good and bigger then normal sushi rolls I've had at other restaurants. All and all, this place was great and I'll definitely be coming back soon! I ordered the bulgolgi. It was good. The price wasn't bad. The service was a little awkward fro the start. When I called to place my pick up order, I thought I called the wrong place because the woman who picked up didn't identify that I called a restaurant nor did she seem very friendly to take my order over the phone. When I showed up to pick up the order, the service was a little better. The guy asked if I wanted kimchi when I ordered an item from the menu that included kimchi, so that confused me a little. The kimchi was good. I will probably try other Korean dishes here. If it wasn't for the awkward service I would probably give them 5 stars. Definitely one of the better places to eat in Highland Falls. I have this theory that most eateries here feel like they don't have to try too hard in this town because it is very touristy for West Point families, and thus the quality of their food suffers immensely. Or maybe I'm just spoiled coming from a city where the foodie community is a tour de force. Idunno. Either way, the locals said it was a must-try and to go for their Korean food too. It is literally a mom 'n pop place, with super tiny space inside and a huge deli case at the front. We sat down, but found out that they pride themselves in being "Army Certified" on being able to deliver and serve their food officially to West Point. In addition to sushi and korean, they also had a wide selection of Boar's Head deli sandwiches. Normally, this would be a huge red-flag back home, but seeing how the actual place was very homey and cozy, I didn't get that sinking feeling of "Aw, crap." when I saw their mixed menu selections. We had 2 sushi rolls (West Point Roll and Dragon Crunch Roll) and they were pretty good--huge, fresh, filling, and exciting tasting (ie, spicy and flavorful). We also ordered some bulgogi and japchae, which is like the equivalent of burger and fries for us back home when we go for korean. We figured they were dishes that were hard to screw up, and they really did hit the spot. We asked for a second order of japchae, and the owners ended up giving us an "extra large" serving, seeing as we were starving from touring the campus. They also served us miso soup at the beginning, which was nice, and chatted us up about our vacation and my little brother's upcoming start at West Point. Not to mention that they gave us some free mangos at the end of our meal. Overall, it was a really welcoming and pleasant experience. I just ordered the sushi combo for lunch (to go) and even though the restaurant was busy the sushi chef prepared my food pretty quickly. When I parked my car in Buffalo soldier field I decided to eat in my car and the sushi lunch was pretty good. The rice was warm and had good amounts of vinegar. The fish tasted fresh and sweet. My husband and I went to Sushi King almost every weekend. The owners are so sweet. The sushi rolls are massive and the fish always tastes great. I love how they serve miso soup as an appetizer! Amazing food, I come here every time I'm in the area. Place is a mom-and-pop style Korean restaurant with a focus on sushi, but they've got really great Korean entrees too. The mandugook is delicious, and I've heard stellar things about the bibimbap. Sushi King's got a dedicated population of regulars, and they've got their own personal chopsticks in the front. If Sushi King was in New York city, they'd be out of business a long time ago. The sushi really isn't that great. But for Highland Falls and West Point cadets with an insatiable appetite for sushi, Sushi King is a godsend. The sushi is usually fresh. Sometimes they are well put together, sometimes the rolls fall apart the moment I pick it up. The rice is just right sometimes, other times, it's a little off. The selection is pretty good, but they don't always have everything (they run out of yellowtail alot). I usually order delivery and they are pretty good about being on time. I have eaten there a few times, and most of the staff are very friendly. The place itself is very small, with seating for about 10. It's mainly a take out./delivery place. They do serve decent Korean food and deli, the latter I have not tried so I can't comment about. So this place should really get no more than 3 stars, but being the only game in the area and the friendly staff that works there, they get an extra one. read more

Great sushi! Great tasting chicken teriyaki, the presentation looked great for dish (take out)! I ordered bi bim bap....and it probably would have been great; however, I couldn't get over the nasty looking presentation! My bi bim bap was all mixed together! Everything was chopped and cooked! I didn't have fresh carrots not cucumbers! I asked for the dish hot - in reference to spiciness. I did get a spicy chili pepper sauce. But I didn't ask for the whole meal! I ate here three times on a recent visit. The staff members are very personable and will happily chat if you'd like. There are two tables. Sushi: The sushi bar has three seats and you can watch the well-trained chef do his thing. The sushi is carefully prepared and surprisingly fresh. No bento box extras, just a nice variety of sushi. I think the spider roll was my favorite, but the tuna hand roll was great too. No Uni, but I'm guessing there isn't a lot of demand for Sea Urchin gonads in upstate New York. Korean: I had a wrap made with Korean beef, which was nicely spiced, but basically just a ton of beef wrapped in a tortilla. Sandwiches: The sandwiches are great, carefully prepared, huge, and excellent Boar's Head beef and tasty bread. This compares very favorably to the lesser "Gray Line" deli near West Point. read more

Grabbed lunch here on our trip to West Point and I'm glad we stopped in. A friendly mom and pop joint run by a couple that were the sweetest to our Twinkies. It's kind of a mashup of deli and sushi and Korean restaurant. My hubby was shocked that I, being the stickler for order and cleanliness would sit down and eat. I did because of the welcoming attitude and the "feel" I got from the place. Hey! The best meals could be lost if you're unwilling to try out a dive. We chose the yaki mandu and white rice for the kids, bulgogi for me, spicy pork for hubbs and a spicy tuna roll to share. Our meals came with kimchi, miso soup and rice. I wasn't fond of the miso soup. Something in it was off-putting. I can't really tell you what it was, but it reminded me of the way pinesol smells. I wasn't thrilled with it, but managed to eat it all. The sushi wasn't as tightly wrapped as I'd like, but it was very good and the ginger (not the pink crap) and wasabi were great as well. The mandu were delicious, piping hot and crisped nicely. The filling was a great consistency as well. The bulgogi and spicy pork were some of the better versions we'd tried and the kimchi, according to Hubs, was excellent. I thought it was pretty average. I was really drawn to the owners kind and calming attitude and the food being well-prepared was a bonus. We left happy and full. !! read more

Decent fresh sushi for fair prices. I would consider this joint a 'dive' when it comes to sushi. Facilities and presentation are ok/fair, but the sushi is pretty good. Sashimi seemed fresh. Construction of rolls was shoddy. Overall pretty good though and I'll be going back. My four star rating is relative to other dining options in highland falls. Good service and pretty quick.
