This was one of my favourite sushi restaurant in Surrey but was a bit disappointed they changed their menu recently. Their previous menu had a bit larger portion and variety. But with our recent visit we were happily satisfied with their new menu and service. We ordered a bento, chopped scallop nigiri and dynamite roll. I really enjoyed how the bento had wild salmon and slices of sashimi were cut very generously. The bento also included a fried jalapeño filled with cream cheese - a unique item you don't see often, but I guess it was their version of a Japanese Croquette. the bento box B used to be good, 3 sets of owners ago (?) maybe more, every time I go in its different people running the place ...the price has gone up, portion has gone down, like usual these days, but in a very bad way. used to be good value for the money. I only eat take out on paydays ... so it's always a treat and last nights treat sucked. the salmon on the teriyaki bento tasted off. like the verge of rotten. Good portion size, good price but quality and taste were lacking. I came here with B and E during the Coronvirus Pandemic. I wanted sushi and they were one of the few that were open for dine in. I ordered the nigiri bento box for $16.95. It came with sunomono, miso soup, tempura, chicken teriyaki, salad, 2 fried gyozas, 6 pieces of nigiri. The chicken tempura was overly fried/cooked. It was super dry. The nigiri rice was super lacking. I found a piece of undercooked or harden rice in my nigiri sushi. The salmon/tuna was very thinly sliced. The tempura was my favorite out of the entire bento box. It was crunchy and tasty. The miso soup was ok. It was not salty and so I do prefer it that way. I asked B and E about the food and they said they found the food "Ok". The restaurant itself is spacious. Service was good. I didn't find them wow or anything special. Will I come back? I have both dine in and order take out and always the food was great and the service during dine in was very good.

Love at first bite. I have been coming to this place since it was opened because fell in love with one dish here since day one. The restaurant has a very casual atmosphere, setting and decently nice service. I pretty much tried their whole menu already, most of food are pretty basic but their mixed sake drinks are refreshing and most of all, the one dish that's done almost perfect and I am really here for is..... here were the food I ordered this time; 1. King's salad with house sauce. Fresh and whatever house sauce they fused together, could become addicting. 2. Soft shell crab. Delicious! So far, this restaurant has the best soft shell crab. Perfectly seasoned and deep fried! I could munch on this all day long especially with some good sake. To be honest, I mainly come for this dish and this is a must have dish if you are eating at this place. Solid 4/5 for this dish. 3. Real crab California roll. I find it a bit dry and nothing special. 4. Salmon, ikura, masago, tamago, kani, tuna toro nigiris. Pretty basic, everything was fresh but this time around the tuna toro nigiris were a bit dry and not fatty. Overall, the service was friendly and the food were decently okay for its price. This is my favourite place for softshell crab and their various sake mixed drinks, just these 2 things alone, I would recommended if you are in the Surrey central area. I reviewed Sushi King George on Google reviews and thought I'd share my thoughts here. Sushi King George is a decent place for sushi. It has a laid back atmosphere and is great if you want some quick, flavourful dishes. I am giving this restaurant 3- 3.5 stars and I would recommend it if you're in the area looking for a place to dine in. The reason for the average rating is because the food has not been consistent. The first time I had sushi, it was tasty and delicious. I looked at the fish and said 'yes, this is worth it.' Granted that experience was during the evening. However, I went back a second time at around 3-4pm, and ordered the bento box along with two side dishes. I am not sure what happens to the chefs when a bento box is ordered, but it was cold and did not taste fresh. The fish was grainy and the fried dishes were too oily, like they had been sitting on the counter for ages. The side dishes were also less than average. I walked away from that experience unsatisfied despite spending quite a bit. So I mentioned to my partner that we should try it once more. We sat down on a dark and rainy evening night in Surrey and ordered two miso soups, extra hot. I was amazed. The miso soup tasted excellent, I sat there in aww asking myself how my previous experience was lackluster. I couldn't wait for the main dishes, but instead of ordering a bento box, we ordered individual sushi rolls and nigiri and I can say without a doubt that it was delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, but I would not recommend the bento box. Instead try the individual dishes. read more

The portions at this restaurant were generous and the price is quite reasonable. The bento box I had was more than enough to eat and had a lot of variety so you can have a little bit of everything. The sushi/raw fish was fresh and of good quality and the cooked gyozas and chicken teriyaki were cooked well. The sauces on the rolls were tasty but not overwhelming. Location is hard to get to because it is on the East side of a major road and parking is not clearly marked. You need to park in the Burger King/London Drugs parking lot. Seating was spacious and the dining area was clean. A lot of people came in with "Skip the Dishes" bags which makes me think this is a very popular take out place. read more

This place is wonderful! It's kind of hidden next to a busy Burger King so I never noticed it before but I saw it on Yelp and decided to try it. It isn't fancy but the service and food are great. I love their salmon sashimi - really fresh and delicious. All their other dishes are consistently tasty and I love the fact that they offer brown and black rice - which isn't hard and dry like other places I've tried! And the staff are really attentive and accommodating! They even have gluten free soy sauce!!! read more

This is the best sushi place in Surrey, and yes I have tried them all. The staff there are amazing, they make you feel like family. They're always smiling, and very helpful. The place is very nice, neat and clean and staff are wearing face coverings and offering hand sanitizer and tables were setup for social distancing. The food was very good and very tasty. Ordered takeout from Sushi King George this evening and I am happy to report that I was not at all disappointed. I had a nigiri bento box and my friend had beef yakisoba. I can tell you that the nigiri bento was so, so good. A little chicken teriyaki, a little tempura, a small sunomono (love sunomono), a couple gyoza, a small dollop of rice and 6 nigiri....yes, 6! I was so dang happy. They even accommodated my request for a specific type of nigiri. I was super happy and full. My friend is a little picky and doesn't like veggies...at all. They were very happy to see that there weren't any in their beef yakisoba. I was told that it was really tasty. Better than they've had from other places. Add on top of all the delicious food the staff were very friendly when I went in to pick up. I will definitely be back as I want to try more off of their menu. read more

Therefore, my conclusion of this restaurant being irregular is backed up. I am happy with another sushi option in Surrey. There was plenty of seating available during the weekend evening. We were seated right away and provided menus and water. There is an extensive menu selection to choose from. Pricing is average for Surrey standards. Food arrived fairly quickly to our table. My favourite was the chopped scallop roll because there was extra scallops on top. I have been searching for a place that makes such rolls after my favourite restaurant in Burnaby closed. Overall, a good choice when I am in the area. I was happy with the service and menu selection. The modern ambiance is quite nice for larger groups as well. read more

My first time going today, and it was super aesthetic!! The resaturant itself was very modern and the presentation too makes for a good picture lol The prices were good, portion and food itself was served in a reasonable time. Lunch special was probably the highlight, being only $7.50 for a teriyaki rice rowl and miso soup. Since it isnt a huge restaurant we had to wait a couple minutes, so if you are going with a group I'd say to reserve beforehand. Staff were very kind and overall was a nice experience! Sushi King George just opened up a few days ago (finally!). It's a sister restaurant of Nordel Sushi, which I find is really good so I had pretty high expectations. They serve AYCE as well, but I don't think it's worth it at $24 per person for dinner. The interior is very nice and modern. This place is good for large groups as they have a long table in a hidden section of the restaurant. The service was friendly and they even hold the door open for you upon leaving. Also, the food came really quickly despite it being a full house. For their grand opening promo, they're doing a 30% off on regular menu right now so we didn't hold back and ordered what seemed to be enough to feed a town. - King's Roll Combo: Includes House roll and King's roll + Miso soup. I would skip this. Rolls are too big and they just fall apart. Did not enjoy the Kraft Singles cheese in the King's roll. - Spicy Mayo Combo: Good bang for your buck at $7.50 for 16 pieces + miso. I really enjoyed their prawn tempura roll. - Spicy Chopped Scallop Roll: Yaass... my favourite. They even add extra chopped scallop on the top. - Yammy Roll: A good roll if you're vegetarian and wanna upgrade to a yam 2.0 roll. - Aburi Spicy Salmon Roll: Not torched enough. Restaurants normally always separate the NOODLES and BROTH in two different containers. It's just common sense, but Sushi KG mixed it together and it just look unappetizing to us. We come here often for lunch as it's close to work and the price is great! I normally get the Dyna Bento and a spicy tuna roll but I thought I would switch it up today. I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon and a spicy tuna roll. You can't go wrong with the spicy tuna, but the nabeyaki was delicious! I will definitely order it again, but here's a pro tip: get the tempura on the side. It comes with 2 tempura prawns and they are soggy as all heck by the time the food gets to you. I have only ate sushi here, no kitchen dishes but im amazed that the sushi rice is very well cooked/maintained, as it is mildly soft, and at just the right temperature which is luke warm.
