Chicken Karaage
Teresa C.

Great weather is just around the corner. As you go on a shopping marathon at Tsawwassen Mills or back from Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal after a scenic stroll out on the island, check this place out for a yummy and satisfying meal. A celebration of freshness and lightness is beautifully encapsulated in their food. Once your appetite is enticed by the tangy sauce on their arugula tuna roll and the spicy chili kick on the salmon oshi sushi, prepare yourself to savour the freshness and gentle umami from their chef's choice nigiri and premium assorted sashimi platters. An assortment of crispy tempura and juicy chicken karaage also awaits you to enjoy a change in textures and flavours to wrap up this feast.

Do not be deceived by the presentation or the photos! Rolls looked fancy but tasted less than mediocre. The price did not match the quality of the food. The hotate nigiri was very fishy and lacked any sweetness. /: The sushi rice did not have the correct sugar to vinegar ratio... Assorted sashimi was the only highlight to the food. Their interior was very well designed and renovated !

Horrible service disgusting food stay away all refrozen junk. Food came out cold and was way over priced.

WOW. 'Nuff said…read more The real question here is what did I NOT love about Akari? I was in the area with a friend and since I'm not too familiar with the sushi options in this area, I hopped on Yelp and Akari was the first one listed. After looking through their menu, we popped on over. They have officially re-opened for dine in, which is what we did. The tables have all been spaced to respect social distancing, there is a takeout/pick up area towards the front, and all the staff are wearing masks. They have an assortment of specialty rolls, nigiris, and other Japanese dishes on their menu. Honestly, everything looked delicious; I had such a hard time deciding what to get! I decided to go for the yam crunch roll (prawn, yam, tempura, cucumber, avocado, topped with yam tempura, sprinkled with spicy flakes) and hot night roll (prawn, yam tempura, avocado, cucumber topped with spicy tuna & tobiko). I LOVED both rolls so much. Each bite was jam packed with spice, sauce, and flavour. The rolls were only around $11-$13, which for what we got is extremely affordable. Rolls this size are usually $15+ at other restaurants. Between the prices, sushi quality, and friendly and great service, this place is one of my new favourite sushi spots. There's a reason that they've been voted best Japanese restaurant in this area. Definitely worth the trip out here. If you live in this area and have never been here - well here's your new neighbourhood sushi spot! Thanks for the awesome dining experience, Akari!

I am visiting Point Roberts Washington from West Virginia currently. I was hired and flown out to…read moreremodel a house. There's really no place to eat or no place to go in Point Roberts Washington. This was my first day trip into Canada and I decided to go get some food. I love sushi and Japanese food in general. I'm so glad I found this place. It is centrally located with lots of parking. And seats for hundred people. When I came in there was only a couple of of people. A table of two. As soon as I came in I was greeted by the chefs behind the bar. Immediately seated by a very lovely pleasant waitress who had a lot of patience as I asked a bunch of questions about the menu. I needed to get on Wi-Fi also and immediately she came back with the information to get on Wi-Fi. I don't think she spoke much English as I sensed she was a true Japanese waitress. She understood every question and answered it. So she probably speaks much more English than I may gather. But she was very kind and willing to answer any questions. I ordered Lunch C. Which was extremely delicious. The chicken teriyaki came with perfectly cooked and flavorful vegetables. The rolls and the tempura were also extremely delicious. The price seemed very affordable and reasonable also. The prices are in Canadian dollars. The ambience in the setting is marvelous. I can see if it's crowded it could get noisy and Service could at that point be a little slow. Although I ordered my lunch special and it came so fast I was amazed. I will not hesitate coming here again. Personally to me it's the top end of five stars. I'll give them an A+. And I was wrong about the waitress. She's from Korea and her name is Ciao. I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right. But I thought it was really interesting that I ordered lunch C from her. Pronounced C-O. I asked to take her picture but she was a little too shy I also asked a couple as they left. And left me alone in this lovely restaurant. If they enjoyed their food? And they said definitely and I found out that they're locals and they come here often. In fact the wife suggested I order exactly what I did. A great experience. And I did not finish all my food. I also complemented the chefs on the way out. And the bathroom was immaculate.

The ambiance felt warm and well organized with comfortable seating and a nice setup that made it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was good as well. I especially loved the mango avocado tempura rolls because they were light, crispy, and refreshing. The miso soup tasted comforting and flavorful, and the beef tataki bowl was also good. We ended up ordering quite a bit of food along with some sake and everything was served nicely. The only thing I did not enjoy as much was the veggie gyoza because the filling tasted a bit unusual to me. Overall, we had a pleasant experience dining here. It is very important for restaurants to maintain genuine pricing while continuing to serve quality food that makes customers want to come back again, and I hope they continue to maintain both their pricing and quality.

Parking is easy as it is in a small mall…read more The service was very good. Our tea was always topped up and the servers were cheerful and very helpful. We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

Each interaction(special performance from IKEMEN) and CHEKI(photo session with IKEMEN) require additional fee. We must choose set menu the restaurant offered for this event. We picked LUXE INDULGENCE SET includes, 6 piece of SASHIMI(TUNA SALMON NISHIN), 2 pices Caterpillar roll, 2 pieces salmon oshi, 2 pieces aburi salmon oshi, 2 pieces of prawn tempura and 1 piece yam tempra, 2 chicken knee skeweres, Mentaiko seafood fried rice, Matcha cheese cake and one bottle of RAMUNE for CAD45.00 Deal was good. Sashimi and sushi were just ok, a bit below average. Tempura was decent. Chicken skewers were too salty. Fried rice was also ok, pyramid style presentation was good. Cheese cake was half frozen. Overall, food was below average. However, IKEMEN cafe event was excellent. It was a lot of fun and service was great. I will revisit IKEMEN cafe event if they offer in the future.
