This is a perfect spot to go after you hit up the Ladner thrift shop (if you're my wife ). My kids love this spot. They have a little waiting nook with children's books (some "classic" Bearenstein Bears books! Yeah I spelled that right). The atmosphere is great, very much feels authentic. The food is pretty great - sushi was good, I prefer the spicy tuna over the salmon which was a little chewy. The friend chicken tower (got the name wrong) was really good, my kids loved that. We visited this restaurant in Ladner as we were craving some Japanese dishes and google did recommend Sapporo Kitchen. One thing we looked at first before choosing which place to eat was that it has desserts to save time as our time is short. I was so happy to see they have Mario's gelato on their menu since the restaurant I usually order from doesn't serve them anymore. During this visit, we had; Chicken Katsu Curry $24 Wagyu Oshi Sushi $21 The Greens $14 Prawn Tempura $16 Cappuccino Gelato $6 Green Tea Gelato $5 The chicken curry was delicious and crispy, with a significant amount of curry sauce; we both loved the wagyu Oshi sushi, and we thought it was pretty pricy, but after tasting it, I was satisfied. The prawn tempura was okay, not so oily, and the green salad was not a favourite, the same sauce as other restaurants. Lastly, I enjoyed Marios Gelato ice cream's perfect dessert and treat, as I love ice cream, and this brand has always been a favourite for its creamy and not-so-sweet taste. Oops, it looks like I'm talking much about the gelato. Anyways, Sapporo has a fantastic menu to choose from, and they do have Mario's gelato. Staple sushi place in Ladner, and my personal favourite. They have an extensive menu and the service is outstanding. I have never been disappointed and we have tried it all, lunch, dinner, and takeout! My order of Spicy Agedashi Tofu (deep fried tofu with spicy Korean sauce, spicy mayo. Sesame seeds on top) was good and really flavourful but I mussed the Agedashi sauce that typically comes with it. Lightly breaded and packed with two very delicious sauces, this dish is easy to enjoy! My FAVOURITE place to get veggie gyoza is here! 6 pcs, Japanese veggie dumplings with gyoza sauce. And its so delicious. You can taste the veggies and the little pillows are full of flavor and chew. The dip is a great accompaniment! I don't share this one! Lastly, the yam tempura roll is a staple! Huge pieces that don't fall apart and is so fresh. I hate when places have their yams already cooked and use it on the go, not here. They do it fresh and its perfect! The Town of Ladner has special connection to me, about 18 yrs. ago I worked in the lovely small town for almost 4 years. At that time, it was truly a sleepy town nestled between Delta & Tsawwassen. Fast forward to 2019, Tsawwassen is seeing a huge boom in both real estate & retail shopping. With the ever so busy Ferry traffic this has become a busy hub for both local residence & commuters alike! With all the increase in population, the restaurant scene is also changing ever so fast, where Sapporo Kitchen used to be was a Greek restaurant that had been here for a very very long time. The interior of Sapporo Kitchen is very upbeat, modern casual is what you can describe it to be. Staffs are all very young and energetic, polite and friendly too! Our server was particularly kind in helping me with the bill paying, as there is a custom in Asian communities to fight over who is paying! Two of us ordered Lunch Sets: Leo Set: assorted sashimi were all fresh and up to par with most Japanese restaurant of this level, my lunch also has California Roll, Baby Shrimp Sunomono, assorted Tempura (2 prawns), and my choice of Chicken Teriyaki!! Ladner Set: Udon in soup, Assorted Tempura (2 prawns), salad, edamame, Unagi Don, Miso Soup! And then we ordered a California Roll, BC Roll, & Chicken Karaage, strange enough, these a la cart items turned out to be not up to par with the standard of the rest...the California Roll was overly mixed with mayo, and the BC Roll were literally failing apart as the salmon was too dry. Chicken Karaage was also over cooked and very dry. Humm, I am a bit puzzled as to why this was the case, maybe in future I will still order Set Lunches or Dinner? Outstanding Sushi with impressive presentation, a must-go when you are in Ladner! Amazing dragon roll - the Unagi on top had the perfect texture balanced with just the right amount of sauce, the best I've had. And the salmon nigiri was superb. All three of us loved our meals. We love this Japanese restaurant for the high food quality, high staff quality, reasonable prices in today's market & location! Today, I tried the Nigiri Lunch and loved it! My husband had the double chicken teriyaki and some of mine cause it looked so tasty, and it truly was scrumptious ! We started with the Crae crae roll (shared). In my Nigiri lunch, I upgraded the salmon to sockeye, one dollar more, but worth it! The miso soup was perfect for us as we watch our sodium and they only use low sodium soya sauce! The combination of food, service & cost is why they get 5 stars! Any staff we saw were very friendly & said hello & goodbye. Customer service is top notch! Updating this review because 2 years later, it's still 5 stars from me. And, 2 years later, I still think it's the best sushi in the Ladner/Delta area. This has been my go to sushi take out place during quarantine and everything I've gotten has been filling and delicious. Any of their maki and special rolls are a hit for my taste buds and belly, with the crispy crunch roll and spicy yam roll most recently being my favourite go-to order. Service is still efficient and friendly. Whenever I've come in to pick up my order, I'm greeted with a big, appreciative smile and a cheerful hello. Prices are still fair - with their large sushi platter being only $32 for 48 pieces. Such a steal, in my opinion. Yeah, I agree with some of the other reviews on this place. Food is adequate but there is a weird atmosphere. We went late like 8:45 ordered for two a nice array, and couple of drinks. The food was literally tossed on our table along with the bill. My date was really angry. The clanging of dishes and loud talking in the kitchen really ruined the night. Won't go back, I suggest going across the street to the little Ladner Sushi. They are very accommodating and the food is good we hung out and chatted with the owner for an hour or more one night. read more

Came with my family after a trip to Tsawwassen mills for a shopping trip and loved both the good prices and delicious tasting food. The lunch deals are great as there are many options and all priced quite well! We got Leos Lunch which had sashimi, beef teriyaki, cali roll, sunomono and tempura for only $15. Their sashimi is extremely fresh tasting and the beef teriyaki had some real chinks of beef rather than scraps like other places. The only no no of this set was that the miso soup was extremely salty. That was okay though because we also got the tonkotsu ramen set which came with 2 pieces of nigiri. This was not quite authentic ramen but it was a hearty bowl of noodles, bean sprouts, pork and corn for a great price and chewy noodles! Finally we got the toro toro roll and it was the best of the day! It had deliciously soft and buttery toro atop a thin layer of rice rolled around prawn tempura and avocado. Yes the roll was a bit small in size but the sauce on top gave a nice sweetness and it was a great one to two biter. Overall, service isn't super friendly but they get the job done and refilled our tea promptly! read more

I've been here three times so far. Some of the dishes are pretty decent and some don't really stand out. I really enjoyed their beef tataki roll. Really melted in my mouth. Their salmon and tuna pokes are delicious too - they give a looot of rice so it is super filling. But they also give a lot of toppings. Their spicy chicken karaage has the right combination of flavours and the chicken is fried well. I've also tried the takoyaki, sapporo (salmon) salad, spicy tuna roll, tonkotsu ramen, and regular chicken karaage. But I found nothing special about these dishes that made me go "I need to come here again for this" Their yakisoba was way too salty. I had to constantly drink water. Their service was really slow. I had to chase down the waitress to give us water, and refill on water, and the bills. So in all, if I am in Ladner and want some sushi - I would choose here over all the other sushi restaurants. But if I want sushi and I can go out to other cities, I wouldn't necessarily pick here as my first choice. read more

Ordered takeout from here on a Friday evening. It must've been busy, as they quoted a 40-minute wait (sushi is usually a 10-15 minute wait in Vancouver even during busy times). When I arrived, staff were pretty cold--bordering on rude--and unapologetic about additional wait time. We ordered some goma ae and a bunch of veggie rolls. The veggie rolls were solid, though many of the pieces ended up falling apart when we picked them up. Tasty enough though. The goma ae was a measly portion (as pictured), especially for the price, but tasty. The place is pricey, probably about 10-15% more expensive than Ladner Sushi across the street, and in my opinion, not worth the premium, at least for the veggie rolls. I'd rate this place a solid 3 stars. When I first called to reserve a table, the guy on the phone was super friendly and responsive. When I got to the restaurant and walked in, the staff are polite but there's an odd atmosphere. Thought it was just me and went to use the restroom. The restroom is nicely decorated and very clean. There's a few different items to choose from the menu. Wish they had more drinks though. Their cocktails are literally juice for me, I can't even taste a hint of alcohol and it was quite sweet. When we were ready to order, we told a staff there. Seem like the owner or manager? I'm not sure but he seems to be watching and taking charge of things and other staff around there. He made eye contact with us and walked to our table but instead of asking what we'd like to order, he started looking around like he wanted someone else to do it. Maybe he was shy and awkward? Maybe it was because my partner and I are a gay couple? Maybe our hair were too colourful? Either way he took our order after he realized other staff were busy and no one could take our order. I told him that I had a question and I asked how strong the cocktail was. He didn't even make any eye contact and his body was not even face the table or me. He quickly answered my question then left. Awkward much? The food finally came and it didn't take too long. The presentation of the food looks good and the portion size is fine. Price is alright. The taste are good but nothing memorable. Their fish are fresh so that's great, but they have a few rolls with very similar sauce. Their rice for nigiri or Oshi is a bit too firm and more vinegar than most Japanese restaurants I've been to. They speak English and Korean. The place is clean and some parking spaces in front and around the restaurant. A nice quiet area in the town. We were never given plates and they never realized that even after we paid. They didn't take away any plates after we finished and after they served new dishes. Was quite surprised, but not sure if that's just our table or everyone. I tried to stand up and see but everyone there at the moment were just coming in and ready to order. My cocktails also came half way through our meal so took a really long time and I'm almost done with my food. It's not a bad place at all especially for around that area, but it's not a place worth travelling for. I've had much better. If you're near by and really carving for sushi, this isn't a bad choice. I have ordered from them many times for takeout. Today was by far the worst. I ordered my food via their website. I ordered at 5:00 for pickup at 6:00. I drove from downtown Vancouver to Ladner with a brief stop in Richmond. I arrived 5 minutes early and wait in my car until 6:00. When I went to pick up my order I was told it wasn't ready yet. I stood outside in the cold for 15 minutes waiting for my food. When I got it home it was luke warm at best. Seems like they only made part of it and didn't make the rest until I arrived at 6:00. When I place a pickup order for 6:00 (a time offered by their website and an HOUR from my order time) I expect that my order will be fresh and hot at 6:00! These can cook some decent food, but nobody there seems to know how to run a restaurant. I'm on the search for a new Japanese Restaurant in Ladner! read more

Checked out Sapporo Kitchen twice in the past couple of weeks. The atmosphere was good, lots of windows, clean. However, service was okay. A little chaotic. Had to ask for utensils more than once, and tea (which is complimentary), and the server was not personable at all. Food quality was pretty good though. Chicken teriyaki was tasty but lacks any vegetables, which I usually expect will a teriyaki dinner. Sushi was good. I wasn't completely impressed but a descent place for a good sushi meal. read more

I have ordered takeout from Sapporo around a dozen times. Each time I have thoroughly enjoyed the food that was actually put in the delivery bag. Sadly, half the time they miss item orders. This would not be an issue if it had happened once or twice, but after happening 6 times I felt it necessary to write a review. I met a couple friends at Sapporo Kitchen on a Friday night. The restaurant closed at 9:00pm and from the moment we walked in the door at 8:00 we felt very unwelcome immediately. The waitress didn't arrive at our table for over 10 minutes just to take our drink orders. When we finally were able to place our food order it was close to 8:30. The food arrived quickly and was of decent quality however during our meal, the staff were preparing to close the restaurant and started collecting item off of our table that we were still using. I asked to have some stir fried noodles to take home for my wife. It arrived plated on our table 15 minutes before closing time. It then sat on the table for 10 minutes getting cold before the staff offered us a box. I brought my wife a nice meal of cold soggy noodles for her dinner. At 8:55, the waitress came to our table as we were still eating and asked us to pay up because she wanted to do her cash out. By 9:06 the staff turned off all of the lights except for the lighting above our table. I am over 40 years old and this was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my life. I will not be dining there ever again and i will advise my friends and family of this horrible experience. read more

Honestly I love the food at Sapporo but the service is absolute garbage. The management at this place really needs to have a talk with their staff. I swear every time I'm at this place it's like the waiters purposely ignore tables. I waited 20 minutes after asking for a water till I got up and almost poured myself a glass from behind the counter. I don't understand how you can have five servers working and somehow each of them is too busy as to even bring a menu to our friends that just arrived and had been waiting at our table for another 20 minutes. I have never in my life felt the need to write a review until today. So if that doesn't mean anything I don't know what to tell you... Our second visit to this restaurant in Ladner, having visited in the summer shortly after they opened when the restaurant was packed. We went on a quiet evening this time with another couple. We were promptly seated and our order taken. Unfortunately, on a quiet night the server still managed to forget/ not enter two items which we had to re-order. The decor is fine, the tea was good. We ordered the beef yakisoba which was pedestrian, negitoro, yam, and salmon avocado rolls. The sushi was fresh and tasty, but the rolls huge and difficult to eat, quite different from a sushi restaurant in Japan (and yes, I've been there). When the bill came it was divided incorrectly. So, in summary, food is typical chain sushi restaurant, the service needs work, and there's nothing special here, but nothing awful. read more
