We stopped in for lunch at one of our favorite spots in our town. The food was served hot, fast, fresh and came with miso soup & green tea. We had more than enough food & considered this our main meal of the day! The decor is very appealing and there is lots of free parking right out front. We frequent this restaurant approximately once a month or bi monthly. It's a good treat!

Had to eat something to keep up with the busy day so we turned into the mall and found Maguro for our first time. Have only ever eaten anything in Ladner once before at DQ so didn't know what to expect from a sushi place out here. We each ordered lunch box b and I got a tuna avocado roll and my wife a couple salmon nigiri The orders came out lightning fast, my miso and roll were great, the tuna was fresh and large, the roll was really big but I found the rice a tiny bit on the mushy side but still very nice. Lots of ginger Now that's alway a good thing. The serving sizes of the lunch box were substantial for sure, lots of chicken and tempura, next time we will share a box and order a roll or two cause we barely made it through what we ordered, then had to go back to work stuffed. Not the worst possible out come. ;-) Standard Sushi place service, to the point, polite, in & out. Will definitely be back to try some of the more interesting looking selections on the menu.

I like my sushi rolls big, saucy and flavourful, and that is exactly what I got at Maguro. For being outside of Downtown and Richmond, I was so impressed by the quality, taste and presentation of the sushi - even if it was just for take out! I was ordering for my friend and I and we decided to split miso soup and three rolls: crazy roll (fried cali roll), lobster maki roll, and dragon roll. Since it was our first time ordering with Maguro we had no idea how large their rolls were. They were so big that we couldn't even finish the three between the two of us! Hey, I'm not complaining. I'm happy that we were able to try all of the rolls, and now we have leftovers! The lobster maki roll and crazy roll were both amazing. Some of the tastiest sushi rolls I've ever had. The dragon roll was also good, but I was just blown away by the other two. When I called to make the order, the lady on the phone was quick and efficient. She called me not even 15 minutes later to let me know my food was ready for pick up. Top notch. Shout out to the Yelp app for introducing me to Maguro. I will most definitely be back for the lobster maki and crazy roll. Maybe not at the same time, next time.

Food here is not fresh. This was a take out order. I called the restaurant to let them know the avocado was rotten. They didn't care. Avoid this place.

    Katsu don

Restaurant:: Maguro Sushi Rating of the dishes:: Katsu Don-2/5, Crispy Dynamite Roll-2.5/5, Miso soup- 3/5. Would I recommend: meh don't really have try the ones I ordered. Personal opinions:: I find the food here very salty even though I already have a pretty heavy taste. I wasn't able to finish the Katsu don because the egg was soggy and the onions had a were taste to it. The katsu don sauce had a sour and bitter aftertaste. However the pork was grilled pretty well. The special sushi I ordered was crispy dynamite roll, the sushi rices was very sticky making it extremely hard to get it off of the plate. There wasn't one piece that didn't disassemble when I tried to eat it. And I know how to use my chopsticks. Again, the sushi, too salty. Miso soup, I believe they are using red miso so I guess I can't say it's too salty. ‍

Wow! This place is great. I've eaten sushi all over Metro Vancouver. I never expect much when I go to the suburbs. Image my surprise when I ate at Maguro Sushi. The decor was authentic and cozy. The service was efficient and friendly. But the food....top ten. Really, Really good. I had a house roll that was awesome. Fresh Avacodo roll covered in assorted sashimi and tobico. Super yummy. I highly recommend this restaurant. Next time I'm in Ladner, I'm going back.

WOW. 'Nuff said…read more The real question here is what did I NOT love about Akari? I was in the area with a friend and since I'm not too familiar with the sushi options in this area, I hopped on Yelp and Akari was the first one listed. After looking through their menu, we popped on over. They have officially re-opened for dine in, which is what we did. The tables have all been spaced to respect social distancing, there is a takeout/pick up area towards the front, and all the staff are wearing masks. They have an assortment of specialty rolls, nigiris, and other Japanese dishes on their menu. Honestly, everything looked delicious; I had such a hard time deciding what to get! I decided to go for the yam crunch roll (prawn, yam, tempura, cucumber, avocado, topped with yam tempura, sprinkled with spicy flakes) and hot night roll (prawn, yam tempura, avocado, cucumber topped with spicy tuna & tobiko). I LOVED both rolls so much. Each bite was jam packed with spice, sauce, and flavour. The rolls were only around $11-$13, which for what we got is extremely affordable. Rolls this size are usually $15+ at other restaurants. Between the prices, sushi quality, and friendly and great service, this place is one of my new favourite sushi spots. There's a reason that they've been voted best Japanese restaurant in this area. Definitely worth the trip out here. If you live in this area and have never been here - well here's your new neighbourhood sushi spot! Thanks for the awesome dining experience, Akari!

The ambiance felt warm and well organized with comfortable seating and a nice setup that made it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was good as well. I especially loved the mango avocado tempura rolls because they were light, crispy, and refreshing. The miso soup tasted comforting and flavorful, and the beef tataki bowl was also good. We ended up ordering quite a bit of food along with some sake and everything was served nicely. The only thing I did not enjoy as much was the veggie gyoza because the filling tasted a bit unusual to me. Overall, we had a pleasant experience dining here. It is very important for restaurants to maintain genuine pricing while continuing to serve quality food that makes customers want to come back again, and I hope they continue to maintain both their pricing and quality.

Searching on yelp for options, we found this little Japanese restaurant only 5-10 minutes away from the ferry terminal. It was nice to see that it was open later, I think until 930 and the restaurant itself is very welcoming and nice. We were quickly seated and all got menus for all four of us. The food options are great, I think I could tell that there was a strong Korean influence as there was Kim Chi, fried rice and a number of other Korean influenced options. We ordered quickly, including some edamame and spring rolls and everything. It came out fast and hot. The server was friendly. The place was nice. The seating was comfortable. The price was reasonable and can highly recommend you stop here. As a coincidence leaving out of the parking lot you can exit through the Tim Hortons and grab a coffee and a chocolate dipped doughnut to go.

We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.
