    Plain udon ($7.95)
    C. H.

We stopped by for lunch before heading over to the mall to do some shopping. Menu was available by QR code and we ordered a number of items. We ordered a Japanese soda, Tsawwassen Set, plain udon, salmon oshi, toro aburi and hotate aburi. The restaurant was very child friendly. We had a child's cup, cutlery and plate dropped off. We had a teapot and tea cups for the adults. Food arrived after a short wait. This was one of the better Japanese dining experiences I have had in recent memory. The quality and presentation was great for the price. The Tsawwassen Set was a good lunch combo and offered a bit of everything. There was a choice of chicken or beef teriyaki plus miso soup, sashimi, California roll, tempura, and ebi sunomono. The salmon oshi was made well too and was super tasty. The aburi was also fresh and nicely prepared. Plain udon was alright. I ordered it for my child because he loves noodles. Service was great. Our server stopped by regularly to refill our teapot and clear dirty dishes. COVID precautions were in place. Staff wore face masks. Vaccination passports were checked. Hand sanitizer was available.

Chirashi Don . Fresh sashimi in premium sushi rice

Was surprised that this got 5 stars review across the board so has to check it out on my way home from point Roberts. Had the chirashi Don and the ingredients are fresh, good presentation. Their sushi rice is high quality and they use low sodium soy sauce. And the Tamago !!!! It's the best I had. It was sweet and has a hint of sake and good balance. You can tell this was made in-house with care About 15-20 seating only but service was fast Will come back for sure. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit

An awesome sushi addition to the Tsawwassen area. Toto has been open for the last 6 months and is a small family owned restaurant. My mom and I came in on a Friday night unexpectedly after seeing that Thai Isaan was closed. Such a blessing in disguise! Like I said, the restaurant is small - there are a few booths and standalone tables, but this definitely isn't a place to bring a large group. But, that's okay. My mom and I were able to get a big booth to ourselves since the restaurant wasn't busy. This a family restaurant through and through - the mom, dad, and son were all back in the kitchen preparing the food, and the daughter was out at the front, greeting, seating, and taking orders. It was really cool to see the whole family hard at work. My mom and I ordered a few things to share: + Miso soup + Oyster tempura w/ mayo dip + Paradise roll (deep fried cali roll w/ wakame seaweed on top) + Sweet Mango roll (mango cali roll) + Crunch roll (tempura/dynamite roll w/ crispy tempura flakes) We were so impressed with the flavour and presentation of all the dishes! I really loved the oyster tempura in particular because I've never seen that at other Japanese restaurants in the city. I also really liked their crunch roll because it had 3 different sauces and every bite was flavourful. We even used the leftover tempura flakes and put them on top of the other rolls. No tempura flake left behind! Thank you for the delicious oyster tempura and crunch rolls, Toto! I think you've became my favourite sushi restaurant in the area.

Double ordered the roll on the left because it sounded amazing and it did taste amazing too

This has got to be one of the best in the neighbourhood. I've done both takeout and eat in. The service is amazing and it is a nice little family owned restaurant. Sushi and sashimi tasted really fresh and was done really high quality. I really admired the presentation of the dishes. Their toro was sooooo good it melted in my mouth. I tried multiple specialty rolls and they were all really worth it for the price. I wish I took more pictures but I ate all the food before I could. I'll definitely be back!

WOW. 'Nuff said…read more The real question here is what did I NOT love about Akari? I was in the area with a friend and since I'm not too familiar with the sushi options in this area, I hopped on Yelp and Akari was the first one listed. After looking through their menu, we popped on over. They have officially re-opened for dine in, which is what we did. The tables have all been spaced to respect social distancing, there is a takeout/pick up area towards the front, and all the staff are wearing masks. They have an assortment of specialty rolls, nigiris, and other Japanese dishes on their menu. Honestly, everything looked delicious; I had such a hard time deciding what to get! I decided to go for the yam crunch roll (prawn, yam, tempura, cucumber, avocado, topped with yam tempura, sprinkled with spicy flakes) and hot night roll (prawn, yam tempura, avocado, cucumber topped with spicy tuna & tobiko). I LOVED both rolls so much. Each bite was jam packed with spice, sauce, and flavour. The rolls were only around $11-$13, which for what we got is extremely affordable. Rolls this size are usually $15+ at other restaurants. Between the prices, sushi quality, and friendly and great service, this place is one of my new favourite sushi spots. There's a reason that they've been voted best Japanese restaurant in this area. Definitely worth the trip out here. If you live in this area and have never been here - well here's your new neighbourhood sushi spot! Thanks for the awesome dining experience, Akari!

The ambiance felt warm and well organized with comfortable seating and a nice setup that made it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was good as well. I especially loved the mango avocado tempura rolls because they were light, crispy, and refreshing. The miso soup tasted comforting and flavorful, and the beef tataki bowl was also good. We ended up ordering quite a bit of food along with some sake and everything was served nicely. The only thing I did not enjoy as much was the veggie gyoza because the filling tasted a bit unusual to me. Overall, we had a pleasant experience dining here. It is very important for restaurants to maintain genuine pricing while continuing to serve quality food that makes customers want to come back again, and I hope they continue to maintain both their pricing and quality.

Searching on yelp for options, we found this little Japanese restaurant only 5-10 minutes away from the ferry terminal. It was nice to see that it was open later, I think until 930 and the restaurant itself is very welcoming and nice. We were quickly seated and all got menus for all four of us. The food options are great, I think I could tell that there was a strong Korean influence as there was Kim Chi, fried rice and a number of other Korean influenced options. We ordered quickly, including some edamame and spring rolls and everything. It came out fast and hot. The server was friendly. The place was nice. The seating was comfortable. The price was reasonable and can highly recommend you stop here. As a coincidence leaving out of the parking lot you can exit through the Tim Hortons and grab a coffee and a chocolate dipped doughnut to go.

We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.
