Always a pleasure coming here :) for the price, you get a huge amount of food. I can never quite finish everything. I love how you get a wide assortment of small dishes along with your main course. I usually get the tofu teriyaki which really hits the spot! Highly recommend this hidden gem.

This is a small restaurant located just South of Richmond in the same shopping complex as Canadian Tire. There are plenty of parking spots available in the shopping complex. They offer a wide variety of bowls for reasonable prices. We tried the Unagi Course Meal ($18.75) and the Beef Curry ($16.95). Both tasted exceptional, although the wait was a bit on the longer side. The entrees came with side dishes of radish, miso soup, celery soup, and tofu soup. Their portions were generous, which made this dining experience very satisfying.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A cozy little family owned restaurant with a straightforward menu of various Japanese inspired rice bowls though not quite authentic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The rice bowl was a bit underwhelming with a teriyaki like sauce on the salmon. Some of the side dishes were quite tasty and light. My bf mentioned the curry tasted like the curry cubes. This is a more home style of cooking for those that enjoy that style of food. The chicken karaage was the highlight was the batter was light and crispy and chicken juicy. Service was friendly.

We called to reserve a table as it was our first time here. We worried there would be a lot of customers so it's better to reserve a table in advance. We did the right thing. So many customers came in especially families with kids. The space is not very big, so the restaurant needs to serve the food to customers quickly in order to do more businesses. A server greeted us with smile when we stepped into the restaurant. I enjoyed when I saw servers or people with smiles. I love people with great manners and attitudes. We seated right away and got some water to start with. We read the menus at home in advance so we knew what to order. We ordered tofu, unagi, and beef course meals. All of the course meals came with a bowl of miso soup, some veggies as side dishes, and the main dish (which was tofu, unagi, or beef) with rice. All of them had good quality but they were different from real authentic and sophisticated Japanese ones. This is a family oriented restaurant so be expected that parents with little kids or older children would come here for meals. When we were dining here, a couple of kids cried very loudly and some ran around. As mentioned, the space was not big. A kid even bumped into my parent even though we were sitting and eating. If the restaurant runs well and a lot of customers love the food, maybe the business owner can consider having a bigger space and serve more customers.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good customer service, quiet little shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Easy to find parking in the huge lot. The food is plated very nicely and effort has clearly been placed in the plating design. They had some issues with their fizz machine so the drink took a while but that was disclosed when I ordered. I loved my unagi soba dish! [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were able to sit for quite awhile to catch-up and chat and the owners did not rush us whatsoever.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Dont knw what the hype is about for this place. We tried the beef udon soup with tempura side and the beef rice bowl with a soft poached egg. These are classic japanese dishes and should be a good barometer of their skills and attributes. Overall, based on both orders...i can say they are average at best. Would love to have more beef and rice. The order looked big but actually of small quanitity. The miso was good and the adegashi tofu side was good as well. The udon soup was good and beef tender. Many restaurants can make these tho. Nothing special. The presentation was nice but its typical Of japanese places. Service was quick. You order at the counter, eat, then pay after. Will give the other dishes a try next time like karaage and curry. Im skeptical whether to try the foi gras and chicken teri bowl, as if the others tasted average, then i should Lower my expectations on the others. Cheers! Happy eating!

Nice clean restaurant! We ordered foie gras, unagi, salmon and chicken bowls with a side order of chicken kaarage. We are from the United States so can't get foie gras there. Our meal sets were delicious and generous. The foie gras was very tender and tasty as was the unagi. The salmon was a bit over cooked to my liking. It was nice that they let us use 2 credit cards to charge our meals. The chicken kaarage was nice, hot and crispy. It tasted like they had marinaded the chicken before frying. I enjoyed the sriracha dipping sauce too. The waitress was very attentive and kept stopping by to fill our tea cups. And the tea was complimentary.

#8 (Chicken) Udon with Prawn Tempura

Good food. Quick friendly service. This place is small with only a few tables. Twice I've been here, twice I've had #8 (Chicken) Udon with Prawn Tempura. I couldn't seem to sway away from this one. I would say, my fave set until I get sick of it one day. The chicken Karaage is definitely a must-have, but it is on the pricier side.

A small but busy restaurant that sells Japanese set meals. There's always a constant stream of people coming in and out for take out and dine in. If you're wanting to eat in, you'll have to let the staff know so they can see if there is a table; however, you will have to order first. I tried the unagi and salmon course meal, as well as the udon soup. Everything was delicious! The unagi sauce is so unique with a hint of yuzu and lemon juice. Unagi itself is soft and bone-less. The salmon meal came with huge portions and great for those who just want a basic/clean meal. Second time around, I had to get the udon soup. The portion of udon was actually much larger than I thought. Udon was chewy and bouncy with a generous portion of chicken. It also comes with 2 prawn tempuras and a potato croquette. Tempura had a light and crispy outer shell, and I personally LOVED the croquette. I'm personally not a big fan of croquettes but the taste of this one was great. I loved the super crispy batter and the potato filling on the inside. We also tried the mango soda and iced latte. I preferred the mango soda over the latte - latte was less sweet than expected. If I lived closer to this restaurant, I would definitely come often! I can see why it's always busy here. P.S. they also have a 10x stamp card for a free meal so make sure you get it!

    Tofu Course Meal

This was a nice, homey environment to enjoy a Japanese set meal. It wasn't too busy around 5pm on a Saturday. I chose the tofu course meal, which included tofu teriyaki on rice with sides of miso soup, squash, cabbage salad, a marinated root vegetable that I didn't recognize, a dish of pickled daikon and carrot, and tea. The teriyaki was very tasty and all of the veggie sides were lovely in their simplicity - it was a meal that was easy to eat and left me feeling good. The price was very reasonable. It's enough food that I think the average appetite will feel satiated but not overly full. The staff was very nice and made me feel like my business was appreciated.

Nobi Nobi has been on our list of places to try for ages. Their food is inspired by Obanzai techniques (small dishes using seasonal ingredients). We dropped in on a Sunday evening (6:45pm). It was busy but we were able to snag a table right away. Order at the counter first, then pay when you're done eating. Menu has 8 staples along with chicken karaage and Japanese beef curry. All their meals come with miso soup, agedashi tofu, pickled daikon/carrot, cabbage salad and a seasonal vegetable. They also give out stamp cards; 10 stamps gets you a free meal. - Pork course meal ($14.45) - all the side dishes were excellent. Really enjoyed the agedashi tofu and the oden style daikon. Pork was tender and reminded us a chashu, minus the sweet sauce. - Foie gras rice bowl ($22.45) - chicken was tender and juicy. The foie gras was rich but personally, I didn't think it added much to the bowl. Save yourself $9.00 and order the chicken course meal ($13.45) instead. - Unagi course meal ($16.45) - unagi was soft. The sauce was sweet and slightly sticky. Simple, healthy Japanese food at NN.

    Foie gras.
    Shonah M.

Goodness gracious!!! If all I ever had at Nobi Nobi was the Foie gras, I'd be quite happy! I wasn't sure what to expect with this being a smaller size restaurant. Consider this especially if you're coming here with a big group. But I usually try not to go in with expectations other than desiring great food & a pleasant atmosphere. Is that too much too ask for!? LOL. To be honest I would never have known about NN without Yelp. It's one of those spots that if you blink once - you've missed it. The tea was surprisingly refreshing & I quite liked it. Usually when you're given free tea at restaurants, it's so crappie. I'm a huge fan of duck (or was it goose?) & liver, so I was delightfully blown away by the taste of my Foie gras. It came with the most flakiest butter type chicken I've had in a long time. The side ingredients were excellent. Gosh what a presentation! And all (see my pix) this for $23! That's like $11 US ... I think!? LOL. Once I had eaten I could feel the protein running through my blood stream. There was a small side of Tofu with this order but I passed on it as I was utterly stuffed. I'm definitely looking forward to going back to try other menu items. Please note NN is currently closed on Tuesdays. Hot Tip Alert - this strip mall, Ironwood is known for trapping cars making it extremely difficult to escape during rush hour which seems to begin at 230pm here on week days. Highly recommend that if you're coming here to do so between 11am & 2pm then get out quickly or you'll be stuck trying to deal with all the southbound tunnel traffic fighting to get home. Good luck.

    Uni Zaru Soba ($16.99)
    Aerica W.

Simple place with good food. Cozy & Modern, and staff was attentive as well. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and the staff will bring your meal to you. Loads of parking as it is located inside a large plaza. The soba was pretty good (my first time trying cold soba). There's 4 fresh pieces of uni on top which I think is a pretty good deal for $17. I would recommend ordering a side of karaage (or side dish in general) as the soba can be on the bland side, although there is a dipping sauce. It also comes with this perfect onsen egg which was a nice touch. Chicken Karaage was impressive - large, juicy pieces & well marinated. Soda was quite refreshing as well, without being too sweet. Uni Zaru Soba ($16.99) Strawberry soda ($5.99) Mango soda ($5.99) Chicken Karaage ($8.99)

They told us to join the google waitlist when we wanted to come in so we checked about an hour beforehand and there was no active waitlist online. We were seriously refreshing the screen as we were driving over to the restaurant. When we got to the restaurant they told us to join the waitlist and lo and behold there were already 5 people ahead of us!! The restaurant is small and the waiting area even smaller -- with 5 ahead of us we ended up waiting about an hour!! We got the dinner sets of soba/sushi, chirashi, and unagi. Everything tasted solid but seems small for the price. My little (who doesn't eat much) finished the whole meal set and said she was only 50% full and proceeded to eat snacks in the car after dinner. The staff spoke Japanese so you know it's pretty authentic but for the price and the wait, it could've delivered more.

The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked.
