In my opinion, Vancouver needs more inarj places! Sushi Tree is quite far from us, and sometimes we would go to H-Mart for our inari fix. But this place is pretty great and they have freshly-made to order inari pockets. They're quite filling, so I think the pricing was reasonable. Salmon, tuna, and scallops are always my staples. We also got a milk tea to go with our food. All in all, glad there's another inari option in greater Vancouver and I've never had inari pockets made on the spot!

We love coming here for their inari! Size is worth the price and flavours are always amazing. My favourite is the salmon, hamachi jalapeno, and masago. Comfy to sit in too!

I heard about this place from instagram and finally had a chance to visit here. We have to do touch panel order. what I ordered were: Aburi salmon, Scallop and ikura, Salmon and ikura, shoyu butter salmon, and hamachi toro. Hamachi toro was the highlighand texture was fatty, nicely torched and flavor was great. Then, Aburi salmon was good, it also nicely torched and a lot of salmon on the top. Shoyu butter salmon was also great. Shoyu and butter matched so well as usual. Scallop and ikura and Salmon and ikura were very solid menu, the ingredients were so fresh and texture was very crispy , I really liked them. Rice was a bit soft, but it was ok, size was also decent. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Only problem is the location, I wish they will make the second location in Vancouver or Burnaby. This place will be my regular to go place for sure.

Delicious!! I got the salmon trio and the portion size and flavour was perfect. You order at the front and pay first, and then they bring out the food to you. I was full after eating three pieces, not overly full but just right. I do think the price is on the higher side though.

Since Steveston is quite a drive for me, I ALWAYS stop by Okome when I am in the area. Fried Tofu Pockets ‍ Seasoned Rice Check out @heyokome for some Inari! It means "loaded with rice", so yes, you get some well seasoned tofu pockets that are stuffed and quite literally loaded with rice. Then, you too it off with your favourite fresh ingredients like you would for sushi. I'm not in Steveston very often, but whenever I am, it's a just to stop by Okome. They have a variety that ranges from $3.50 to $6.00. I personally enjoy their TRIOS, which range from $13-$16 depending on the set you get. They also have other items, such a don, udon, salads, sashimi, and a huge drink menu as well! Everything is well seasoned and delicious! However, I did realize this time that the fillings feel a little less stuffed but there was way too much rice. My faves; ($15.49 for a TRIO) Aburi Trio (unagi, scallop, salmon) Shoyu Butter Trio (butter corn, scallop, salmon) Inside and clean and spacious with lots of seating. Service can take a little longer depending on when you go. But overall, they try to make it efficient with the self pay machines. They recently introduced mochi filled ones too and I would love to go back and try.

So fresh and delicious! Had the Spicy Mayo Trio -- a little bit of everything, and the Hamachi Trio -- loved it! The Bara Chirashi Don -- is a delicious option if you're not feeling Inari. I love the self serve ordering system, perfect for introverts like me. Place is small, two tables of 2, a table of 4, and counter by the window fits 5. Seems like most peeps order ahead and grab stuff to go.

Wow I really like this place! I stopped by last night before going back to the states. There were no customer, just us. This place was on my to-go list as it's one of the newer joints I've never been. I had a chance to talk to the person in charge and the chef who were very pleasant and provided about ingredients they use with recommendation which helped us decide what to get. Inari sushi with variety of ingredients on top. Inari is fried thin bean card that's slightly sweet cooked with soy sauce and sugar. Rice is mixed with vinegar that's slightly sour. The combination of inari and sushi rice with fresh fish is unthinkable deliciousness. I had aburi salmon, Ikura & scallop and eggs thinking it will be too much for me that I can't eat too much rice. However to my surprise, I finished all I ordered. They were so delicious!! I liked the aburi the most. The ingredients including the fish were very fresh. They assemble after ordering. This is not well known yet but it will be popular for sure. Will come back!!

Small store near Steveston with some dine-in seating. There's an option for ordering by yourself on a tablet, and another option to order at the counter which would be nice when there's a longer line-up. I noticed that if you dine-in, they only give you the lid of the take-out boxes to save boxes I'm assuming which wasn't a big deal. We ordered a 3pc aburi sushi combo (aburi salmon, eel, scallop) and a 3pc classic combo (salmon, tuna, chopped scallop) - both were around $15 each. For the aburi - it was very flavourful and enough toppings for every bite. There was still some torched flavours even though the sushi itself had cooled down by the time I ate it. Fish and scallops in the classic combo were fresh. Seasoned quite well and the rice was also cooked well where it wasn't mushy. I really like the idea of using inari pockets to keep everything together - very innovative! Everything tasted as it should. Went for dinner, but would've been a better option for lunch as I was not full with 3pcs and probably needed at least 5 and I have a small appetite. Thinking about that, it's a bit pricy for what you're getting; I would need to spend $25-30 to be full!! If I lived in the area, I would probably visit more frequently but not a place I would go out of the way for.

Here is my honest review about Okome. I have tried other places like Sushi Tree which has a similar concept. With Okome, they do the ratio for toppings and rice more equally while other inari sushi places uses too much rice. Having less rice balances the flavour which focuses more on the sashimi flavour to come through. The tofu skin is also sweet and moist, not dry and tasteless. Some reviewers were complaining that it was too pricey, but I found for the price of one inari sushi, it is cheap compared to other places that charge you the same price for nigiri but smaller portions. As for the toppings, they give you quite a generous amount on top, and the best part is, it is extremely FRESH. They even offer ikura and hotate, not just masago and chopped scallop like other places.

We came here before leaving Canada and wanted to grab a bite to go since we weren't very hungry. We went inside and looked at the menu before ordering on a screen at the counter. We loved how there was so much variety and that they had some sets to choose from. We ended up getting an aburi trio, a Hokkaido Trio, and a spicy mayo salmon. It looked and smelled amazing. We decided to try one before hitting the road and ended up eating 4 We loved how much filling was in each Inari pocket and that the rice to filling ratio was really good. The aburi trio was nicely seared. We will definitely be back and try more of their menu!

So excited about this inari spot that has soft opened near Steveston! They have a really extensive menu with a ton of different inari options, and also poke and udon. They have a lot of different drinks too. I'm very excited to come back and try different things on the menu. We got the salmon trio and tuna trio for inari and they were delicious. Previously I would go to Sushi Tree in Coquitlam but this is much more convenient for me and definitely about the same quality and taste. We also ordered a mango avocado smoothie which was good too! Service was great. They are still training their staff but it wasn't noticeable. They have a self ordering kiosk which makes the process very smooth. The interior is also very nicely renovated. There's not a lot of seating but that makes sense since people usually would order inari for takeout. Looking forward to their grand opening!

I had never tried inari sushi before, so when I heard Okome was opening in Richmond, I knew I had to check it out! If you're new to inari like me, it's vinegared rice stuffed inside sweet and salty deep-fried tofu pockets, often topped with raw or cooked fish. Think of it as a fun, handheld sushi snack customizable with different fillings! As a tofu and sushi lover, I was excited about this visit, and Okome did not disappoint! From the moment you walk in, the modern, cosy ambience pulls you in, and the menu is packed with delicious-looking items. While they also offer other traditional Japanese dishes like salads, torched sushi, sashimi, donburi (rice bowls), udon, and build-your-own poke bowls, we were here for the star of the show -- the inari. With 26 different types of inari sushi to choose from, you're spoiled for choice. For the indecisive foodies or those looking for a slightly better deal, Okome also offers inari trios. WHAT WE TRIED Aburi Trio Inari Shoyu Butter Scallop Inari Ikura Scallop Inari Ikura Salmon Inari Hamachi Shiso Inari Each inari pocket was generously stuffed with fresh, high-quality ingredients and bursting with flavour -- each inari was much larger than expected! The Aburi Trio was a standout with its sizzling flame-roasted goodness, adding extra umami. However, the extra sauce made the pockets a bit soggy towards the end. Similarly, the Shoyu Butter Scallop Inari impressed me with its rich seared flavors. However, I did wish the butter had been more evenly melted and incorporated. The chunk of butter in the middle of the inari overpowered the scallop in some bites, while you couldn't taste the butter in others. Being my first time trying inari, I expected a sweet and savoury mix of flavours. They skewed sweeter than I anticipated, and while they were delicious, I would've preferred a bit more savoury profile. For this reason, I preferred the inaris with sashimi. They allowed the fresh seafood flavours to shine through and were slightly more savoury, without being overly saucy. The sweetness of the inari was still there but to a lesser degree compared to the flame-seared inari. One thing to note: our order took over twenty minutes from the time we placed it, and they didn't seem very busy at the time, so it might not be the quickest option if you're in a hurry. However, with its proximity to Steveston, Okome's location is ideal for grabbing some delicious inari and enjoying a sunny picnic by the water during the summer months! Overall, Okome is a welcomed addition to the Richmond food scene with its unique offerings bringing a fresh twist to Japanese flavours. If you love inari sushi, or want to try inari sushi, Okome is definitely the place to go! Instagram Reel: https://bit.ly/4c2puVp

When I heard that Okome opened up in Richmond, I had to give it a try. I was so impressed by the generous inari portions and high quality flavours What I tried: aburi trio - aburi unagi - aburi scallop - aburi salmon shoyu butter trio - shoyu butter corn - shoyu butter salmon - shoyu butter scallop icy mango coco jasmine bobo The aburi inari were my favourite, I've never had them done that way but I was incredibly impressed by the freshness of the seafood. I love that they gave us gloves to eat the inari with! The mango drink was so refreshing and a god-send during a heat wave. Date idea: get takeout and have a picnic in Steveston and watch the sunset I would definitely come back, the service was amazing. They also serve poke and sashimi.

We shared the assorted tonkatsu set which featured cheese katsu, pork katsu (tonkatsu), ebi (shrimp), alongside miso soup, cabbage, rice, and the other fixings. It's cool you can grind the sesame and have a choice of dipping in mayo or katsu sauce. Also, we added an egg for $2 (half egg, ripoff, skip skip), and hotate (scallop) - nicely battered, fresh, and sweet. I'd recommend eating the cheese katsu first thing to fully enjoy the melted cheese texture. The pork katsu is solid - the meat is quite juicy. The shrimp is huge and fresh. I docked a star off because of the service. The place is small and it's Japanese food so I expected a bit better service. When we chose to share the set, they called out they won't honor unlimited cabbage, rice, and soup, unless we specifically order 2 sets, despite us ordering extras that are close to the price of the cheapest set. Also, it takes a while to flag down a server to refill the hot tea. It's still a decent experience, but I would've been unhappy if I waited more than 30 minutes for a table because while the katsu is delicious, it's not impressive compared to other katsu spots to wait such a long time.
