    Sushi Combo
    Sheila D.

Was quickly seated on a Friday night before the dinner rush. We ordered the sushi combo and ramen combo with the Paita Shoyu broth with pork and veggies and side of sushi. The sushi was a miss for us because the ratio of fish to rice was not great, too heavy on the rice. The ramen was the star of the night. The broth was super flavourful and there was an endless amount of noodles. Next time, we'd only order the ramen. Great family friendly restaurant and service.

Busy little spot in Squamish mid-week. Service is great and they serve really fresh sashimi including blue fin tuna. Probably the best sushi joint owned by a local Japanese couple. The menu is extensive and they have a lovely back patio.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place in Squamish. I ordered the Paitan Shoyu Ramen- it was on the lighter end as far as a Tonkotsu base but the flavour was there and the usual profiles I look for in the broth, noodles, and toppings were there. The chasu was on the thin side and they only give you one ( usually there's two or more in most places) the noodles were just right and the broth (shoyu based Tonkotsu ) had depth. The menma was standard Service was good and the place looked new and it was busy during my visit. Lots of street parking too.

Rainy day at Whistler so we drove down to try their ramen. It was a good thing we arrived just prior to opening. There was already 2 parties out front ahead of us. Shortly after, all seating was full. We tried the Paitan Shoyu ramen, Asahikawa Shoyu ramen and Taka Pork & Vegetable miso ramen. All soup bases were so flavourful. I had the Paitan Shoyu which was creamy and rich in flavour. It had a hint of smokiness (?) and was so delicious with the noodles. The noodles here were softer compared to a more chewy textured noodle at some other places. I personally prefer a chewier noodle but the broth made up for that. The egg had a beautiful rich, deep orange (like a sunset) yolk. It was nicely cooked but I wish it had a bit more flavour to the marinade. We got inaris as sides, as well as torched salmon and ebi. My husband also ordered salmon sashimi which he said was super fresh! All-in-all, we loved the find and will definitely come back!

I will never forget our meal at Taka Ramen, it was the perfect hidey-hole. I had the Paitan Shio and let me tell you it's the perfect meal to warm the soul on a cold rainy day. The service was excellent! The staff was so kind and inviting. The ambiance was perfect. The space felt intimate and even though it was packed, it did not feel loud at all. I will definitely go back!

Super tasty small looking but packed full of flavor, perfect after a great hike.

My expectation for Japanese foods is pretty high given I grew up and lived in Japan for a quite long time. When I first saw this restaurant, I wasn't expecting much as Squamish isn't know for Japanese foods (but it is a great place regardless!). After trying a few dishes, I completely changed my mind. Everything we have tried here has been great! They also have some food items you would only see in Japan. I highly recommend trying their sushi, seaweed salad, and veggie / healthy ramen.

This place is located in the heart of Squamish, BC. Parking along the main street can be hard to find, so be prepared to look for a parking lot farther away. Overall, this place was quite ordinary with nothing really standing out. The service was 3 stars, since the waitress questioned our selection of food when we asked questions. The quality of the rolls and ramen were also 2.5-3 stars. The rolls had dried-up rice and the ramen had only one slice of very fatty pork. However, the flavor was ok. When we went, it was really hot outside, but this place still did not turn on their air conditioning. Therefore, it was uncomfortable eating ramen as one tends to sweat.

This place is definitely a hidden gem. I visited Squamish briefly with my boyfriend. We were craving some ramen and this was the only one nearby. Service was great, parking was easy to find (public lot nearby), and the area is filled with nice shops and restaurants to walk around. I gotta say - everything we tried was delicious. The Taka Pork and Vegetable Miso ramen was flavorful and filling and the Hako sushi tasted high quality and left me craving for more. I also loved their hot green tea (free refills) - so much so that I asked them for a cup to go. For very reasonable prices, I would highly recommend this place for anyone craving Japanese food. It even beats many of the Japanese food I've tried back in Los Angeles, CA at this price.

    Hako Sushi: salmon, sea bream

Really great ramen place in Squamish! Came here with my girlfriend after we hiked at Shannon Falls and it was the perfect meal for an overcast day. We both got the ramen combo with hako sushi. Asahikawa Shio Ramen 5/5: This was really good! Super simple but super comforting broth. Very flavorful without being too salty. One of the better shio ramen I've ever had. Highly recommend for a classic ramen. Hako Sushi 5/5 I got the salmon and sea bream sushi. Both were really good, especially the salmon! Would definitely order again. The hot green tea was also really really good and complemented the hot ramen perfectly. The staff is friendly and answered all of our questions, and even gave us a free refill of hot green tea to-go. Good location in a walkable area, and there's parking nearby on the street or in a public lot. A must-stop if you're looking for Japanese food in Squamish.

I ordered spicy vegan ramen since I was craving something spicy and this one hit the note! Loved the level of spice and it was so delicious. I was served quickly, but it took a while to get me seated even though I was alone (it was really busy when I arrived). Beautiful ambiance with great views in a cute little Squamish town.

    Looking out of Taka.

Stopped by Maruhachi on a Saturday lunchtime after our long commute from Seattle. this restaurant…read moreis tucked in a corner not too far from the main Robson street. Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.
