Samurai Sushi is my go to spot for a quick meal in Squamish. The food gets made quickly, it's on the more affordable side of sushi/ramen options in Squamish, and it's delicious. For my most recent visit, I got the karaage ramen and loved it. The broth had a rich taste and there were plenty of pieces of chicken karaage in my bowl. Stopped by here on my way to Whistler! This place is more of a 3.5/5 for me. I was surprised at how fresh the fish was and the sushi rolls were pretty good and affordable. We got the california roll, chicken teriyaki roll, salmon avocado, buddha veggie aburi and deep fried pork gyoza. Overall, our favourites were the chicken teriyaki roll because the chicken was juicy and flavourful and the buddha veggie aburi roll due to the amazing sauce and avocado. This location is the mother ship to the Samurai Sushi chain on Sea to Sky. In terms of food quality and options this one is the best and they serve yummy free hot tea which is nice to have when it's cold outside. They recently sold the two that are in Whistler and have held onto this location. Every time we come here and need something quick and relatively healthy we come here. Service has also been awesome and fast. For around $20 for two you can get yourself a pretty hearty meal and for some reason the miso soup that you get with the samurai special tastes better here than at the two other locations in Whistler. My personal favs are not sushi but is the Tempura Udon (you get four huge pieces of tempura and a large bowl of udon) as well as whatever is on as the Samurai Special. They recently added this delicious pulled pork to the menu which brought back memories of Hawaii and local plate lunches I've had growing up. If you are undecided, get a Samurai Special, it always comes with a ton of edamame, miso soup, one sushi roll, some type of meat on a bed of rice and chicken karaage or dumplings. You really can't go wrong with this for $11 and you will leave full. They do serve beer and wine here if you stop by for dinner and they have the fun stuff too like Japanese soda. Decent sushi in Squamish! I stopped by for a quick lunch on a Thursday, and grabbed a miso soup and a few rolls. The interior is pretty standard, and definitely has the feel of somewhere people come to eat and go. You order at the counter (although I didn't see any signage indicating this) and there are cups and water to the side so you can fill your own. Food is reasonably(ish) priced, and I got some pretty decent sushi for ~$20. The California Roll was a bit disappointing as it just looked like a fake crab stick mushed with quite a lot of avocado; don't get me wrong, I LOVE avocado, but that was too much to be balanced. The yam-avocado roll was good though - I liked the ratio and the flavours were good. The rolls are quite loose, but not so much that they were hard to eat. I have been to this restaurant 3 times now...its an OK place to eat to be honest. The very 1st time I went there the sushi portions were so small considering the price...So I thought that I would not go there again but my mom likes this restaurant! My 2nd and 3rd time was like a deja vu... From the outside the restaurant is nothing outstanding...Its located in the middle of a strip mall sort of area. Plenty of free parking! Once you go inside, the restaurant has good amount of seating...BUT you will need to place your order and pay for it upfront before you sit down... Service is just mediocre...if you get some sort of "hello" out of the employees I would be surprised! Food: like I mentioned earlier the portion size of the sushi and the price they charge for them doesn't even make sense! If you like sashimi get it somewhere else. Sashimi at Samurai is so small and thin but expensive! The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because they do make decent Udon (soup) and chicken karaage.... If you hang around Squamish you notice restaurants are very slow to bring out your food. Samurai is the only place where this isn't the case. For that alone they get some stars. The food is good as are the portions and the price is very reasonable. Would go again without a doubt. read more

Despite the name, I don't think this is the same samurai sushi company as in Vancouver. They offer a lot more food options, which also includes hot food. The prices are reasonable, and the food is tasty. They also offer a brown rice option. At this restaurant, you order first and then sit down. They will bring the food to you. read more

Horrible experience and don't think I'll come back unless I'm desperate for a Japanese fix while in Squamish. Ordered the beef terriyaki dinner box that said it came with spinach gomaee and salad. When I got back to the hotel to open it up, the gomaee was made with green beans and the "salad" was just some plain steamed edamame beans. Wasn't quite looking for a side of beans and beans. The beef terriyaki was ok - cooked with some sliced onions and served with a side of steamed white rice. A bit over-sauced and I just don't think this is worth $9. Last qualm is that everything was sprinkled with an abundance of sesame seeds. Need to chill out on the sprinkling. read more

If I could give less than 1 star. Hell if I could un-eat what I just consumed i WOULD! I ordered a mango avocado roll. The rice was sour, the mango and avocado were soggy and yet under ripe. Their beef Donburi tasted like actual cat food (yes I've eaten cat food IT WAS BETTER THAN THEIR FOOD ) The fact that you would even serve that to 2 queer people is, quite frankly, homophobic. The seaweed was somehow dry while also being soggy. The chicken Kara agi was oversized for what it was which isn't that bad, but it didn't come with a sauce and it was a little bit dry. But I'm still stuck on the rice, please. Indulge me HOW DO YOU MAKE RICE SOUR?!??!?! And the lettuce was brown... Hands down, the WORST sushi I've EVER eaten, and I'm an avid sushi eater. I ordered dynamite rolls, and tekka maki. The dynamite rolls were very odd. They had a huge chunk of lettuce in them, and shredded carrot. The tekka maki was good, except for the fact that the rolls were WAY too big, and you could easily choke on one. My dad and his girlfriend ordered the seafood salad, which looked and tasted like salad out of a bag, adorned with imitation crab. My brother got california rolls, which he seemed to like, but he also got a side of edamame beans which were cold and had absolutely no salt on them. This restaurant is the Mcdonald's of sushi. Now I understand why Sushi Sen is all the rave. The price comparison is quite significant between the two restaurants. When it comes down to sushi, you really do get what you pay for. read more

I gave this place stars for the food but I have to say that the wait time and customer service have been disappointing. Yesterday I experienced my last bad experience there. I know it was bad as two of the employees apologized. If I could make a suggestion, it would make sense to have both payment terminals going. Maybe its one side for in store and one for phone orders/pick ups, or take payment over the phone for phone orders...esp when you constantly have a line up that is easily a 20 min wait on top of the 15 minute wait for your food. Either way there could be more efficiency at this part which is what would give this place more stars, from myself at least. read more

Originally registered as "Squamish Sushi" this store is now owned or franchised just like the Samurai Sushi stores up in Whistler. I'm not sure if this store is related to the Samurai Sushi stores in Vancouver downtown and on Fraser St. near 49th. But this place serves a mix of sushi, maki, bento box combos, donburi, and udon noodles. Food was good for the family, and extremely well priced. Taste and texture were decent for sushi. Appetizers good as well, and the salads exceptional. I have to say, the best tasting spinach sesame cold compress salad since my days hanging out in Kamakura Japan! Yeah, really! But not all the items were exceptional. The teriyaki is not truly grilled and both beef and chicken have more a soggy stewed texture like you'd get from a Yoshinoya chain store. Some folks might find this completely unacceptable, but my family and I find it quite edible. Moreoever, the tempura is fresh, crispy and whomever cooked the rice knows how to cook Calrose rice the Japanese way with correct texture, water, and process. You might not find this on older GPS units of mapping software because this strip mall extension only opened in Fall 2010. My 2009 GPS does register Glenalder Street/Place in Squamish which is the street just behind the strip mall. Approaching from North Van/Lions Bay/Britannia Beach, just head north on Hwy 99 approx. 2 km past the Squamish Walmart/Home Depot, and just before the Canadian Tire hang a right onto Manquam, then immediate left onto Glenalder which is the short road on the back side of that mall. Keep going past Cinemas and you'll find it before reaching London Drugs . Take out boxes are popular here. At sub $9 CDN for a bento combination with rice, appetizer, salad and main course, this has got to be far better than doing the Tim Hortons/Wendy's run 2 miles south or the Burger King across the street. And you won't wait for an hour to get your food like at the Boston Pizza. For price-performance, this place gets 5 stars. But I dinged it one star due to flavour on some of the items. And if anyone reads this and works there, maybe add Katsu-Kare-Rice to the combination menu and I'll be eating there 3 times a week when the Family and I are up north in BC. read more

I always enjoy the sushi here, I feel as though the SMALL town of Squamish gives this place a bad rap because they hate change. This place is Amazing for a quick fix.
