    Chicken katsu curry

We visited this restaurant in Ladner as we were craving some Japanese dishes and google did recommend Sapporo Kitchen. One thing we looked at first before choosing which place to eat was that it has desserts to save time as our time is short. I was so happy to see they have Mario's gelato on their menu since the restaurant I usually order from doesn't serve them anymore. During this visit, we had; Chicken Katsu Curry $24 Wagyu Oshi Sushi $21 The Greens $14 Prawn Tempura $16 Cappuccino Gelato $6 Green Tea Gelato $5 The chicken curry was delicious and crispy, with a significant amount of curry sauce; we both loved the wagyu Oshi sushi, and we thought it was pretty pricy, but after tasting it, I was satisfied. The prawn tempura was okay, not so oily, and the green salad was not a favourite, the same sauce as other restaurants. Lastly, I enjoyed Marios Gelato ice cream's perfect dessert and treat, as I love ice cream, and this brand has always been a favourite for its creamy and not-so-sweet taste. Oops, it looks like I'm talking much about the gelato. Anyways, Sapporo has a fantastic menu to choose from, and they do have Mario's gelato. Highly Recommend visiting when you're in Ladner.

I was visiting my friend's in Ladner and we went to this sushi spot they recommended. They have different lunch sets that were pretty filling! I tried the Leo Set with Beef and it came with sashimi, teriyaki beef, tempura and California roll. They do take reservations.

The Town of Ladner has special connection to me, about 18 yrs. ago I worked in the lovely small town for almost 4 years. At that time, it was truly a sleepy town nestled between Delta & Tsawwassen. Fast forward to 2019, Tsawwassen is seeing a huge boom in both real estate & retail shopping. With the ever so busy Ferry traffic this has become a busy hub for both local residence & commuters alike! With all the increase in population, the restaurant scene is also changing ever so fast, where Sapporo Kitchen used to be was a Greek restaurant that had been here for a very very long time. The interior of Sapporo Kitchen is very upbeat, modern casual is what you can describe it to be. Staffs are all very young and energetic, polite and friendly too! Our server was particularly kind in helping me with the bill paying, as there is a custom in Asian communities to fight over who is paying! Two of us ordered Lunch Sets: Leo Set: assorted sashimi were all fresh and up to par with most Japanese restaurant of this level, my lunch also has California Roll, Baby Shrimp Sunomono, assorted Tempura (2 prawns), and my choice of Chicken Teriyaki!! Ladner Set: Udon in soup, Assorted Tempura (2 prawns), salad, edamame, Unagi Don, Miso Soup! And then we ordered a California Roll, BC Roll, & Chicken Karaage, strange enough, these a la cart items turned out to be not up to par with the standard of the rest...the California Roll was overly mixed with mayo, and the BC Roll were literally failing apart as the salmon was too dry. Chicken Karaage was also over cooked and very dry. Humm, I am a bit puzzled as to why this was the case, maybe in future I will still order Set Lunches or Dinner? PS I do very much appreciate the service we got and the very attentive Server we had!

Salmon Nigiri, the Chef's Special edition

Outstanding Sushi with impressive presentation, a must-go when you are in Ladner! Amazing dragon roll - the Unagi on top had the perfect texture balanced with just the right amount of sauce, the best I've had. And the salmon nigiri was superb. All three of us loved our meals. Beautiful presentation along with the delicious flavours and fantastic textures, I'm craving going there again already! Friendly, helpful staff. We Highly recommend it!

We love this Japanese restaurant for the high food quality, high staff quality, reasonable prices in today's market & location! Today, I tried the Nigiri Lunch and loved it! My husband had the double chicken teriyaki and some of mine cause it looked so tasty, and it truly was scrumptious ! We started with the Crae crae roll (shared). In my Nigiri lunch, I upgraded the salmon to sockeye, one dollar more, but worth it! The miso soup was perfect for us as we watch our sodium and they only use low sodium soya sauce! The combination of food, service & cost is why they get 5 stars! Any staff we saw were very friendly & said hello & goodbye. Customer service is top notch! Aside note, their green tea is one of the best we've enjoyed, too!

Updating this review because 2 years later, it's still 5 stars from me. And, 2 years later, I still think it's the best sushi in the Ladner/Delta area. This has been my go to sushi take out place during quarantine and everything I've gotten has been filling and delicious. Any of their maki and special rolls are a hit for my taste buds and belly, with the crispy crunch roll and spicy yam roll most recently being my favourite go-to order. Service is still efficient and friendly. Whenever I've come in to pick up my order, I'm greeted with a big, appreciative smile and a cheerful hello. Prices are still fair - with their large sushi platter being only $32 for 48 pieces. Such a steal, in my opinion. Main point: if you're in the Ladner/Delta area and are looking for delicious sushi, Sapporo Kitchen is your spot. Thank you for all the sushi, friends. #SupportLocal

Beef teriyaki lunch combo- we already sipped the miso soup.

Our go to Japanese restaurant in Ladner. Friendly staff and delicious food. Bonus that it is around the corner from one of the best thrift stores that has a great selection and great pricing.

    Spicy Roll

I had a lovely experience eating here the first time with my boyfriend. I used to live in Japan, and a lot of the food was on par with what I ate there. Highly recommend the lunch and dinner sets! The server (Sunny) was very kind and the food was fresh and really well done. The ambiance is also really nice and perfect if you're looking for somewhere to sit down. Will definitely be back :)

I've been here three times so far. Some of the dishes are pretty decent and some don't really stand out. I really enjoyed their beef tataki roll. Really melted in my mouth. Their salmon and tuna pokes are delicious too - they give a looot of rice so it is super filling. But they also give a lot of toppings. Their spicy chicken karaage has the right combination of flavours and the chicken is fried well. I've also tried the takoyaki, sapporo (salmon) salad, spicy tuna roll, tonkotsu ramen, and regular chicken karaage. But I found nothing special about these dishes that made me go "I need to come here again for this" Their yakisoba was way too salty. I had to constantly drink water. Their service was really slow. I had to chase down the waitress to give us water, and refill on water, and the bills. So in all, if I am in Ladner and want some sushi - I would choose here over all the other sushi restaurants. But if I want sushi and I can go out to other cities, I wouldn't necessarily pick here as my first choice.

Avocado roll, veggie roll, yam roll

Ordered takeout from here on a Friday evening. It must've been busy, as they quoted a 40-minute wait (sushi is usually a 10-15 minute wait in Vancouver even during busy times). When I arrived, staff were pretty cold--bordering on rude--and unapologetic about additional wait time. We ordered some goma ae and a bunch of veggie rolls. The veggie rolls were solid, though many of the pieces ended up falling apart when we picked them up. Tasty enough though. The goma ae was a measly portion (as pictured), especially for the price, but tasty. The place is pricey, probably about 10-15% more expensive than Ladner Sushi across the street, and in my opinion, not worth the premium, at least for the veggie rolls. Run-of-the-mill sushi place.

The menu contains a variety of rice combo dishes that you can select (pork, chicken, beef, fois gras, curry) and a tempura noodle set as well. Occasionally, they also have specials as well. My boyfriend and I ordered the beef set and the tempura noodle set with pork. I love how there are a variety of side dishes that come with the set. This is great for those who like variety and want to have a complete meal with all the food groups. My favourite is definitely the pickled daikon/carrot and the cabbage salad! The food is not too salty and the broth was perfectly seasoned for my palate. My boyfriend also ordered an espresso romano which I had never tried before. The foam on top was surprisingly refreshing with a tart aftertaste of lime. The prices were also very fair with most sets averaging around $19-20 before tax. You order at the counter and pay after you're finished. This is a great place for a quick bite especially if you're in the Ironwood area of Richmond.

All the courses came with their own sides which was great! Salmon course 4.5/5 maybe it was me and I waited too long to eat so my salmon dried out a little bit the flavor was so good that I didn't mind. I normally hate overcooked salmon but I wouldn't say this was overcooked. Beef course 5/5 the egg was beautifully cooked. The beef was plentiful and I love the addition of the ginger. Udon soup 4.5/5 you get your choice of beef, pork or chicken. It comes with a side of tempura. It was good! Hot and fresh. I love that the temprua was not in the soup. Mango soda 3/5. Refreshing yes. But I expected it to be sweeter or have more mango flavour. Also, if you post a photo on social media, you get a free order of prawn tempura which was nice. Overall we had a great experience. Will definitely come back again!

WOW. 'Nuff said…read more The real question here is what did I NOT love about Akari? I was in the area with a friend and since I'm not too familiar with the sushi options in this area, I hopped on Yelp and Akari was the first one listed. After looking through their menu, we popped on over. They have officially re-opened for dine in, which is what we did. The tables have all been spaced to respect social distancing, there is a takeout/pick up area towards the front, and all the staff are wearing masks. They have an assortment of specialty rolls, nigiris, and other Japanese dishes on their menu. Honestly, everything looked delicious; I had such a hard time deciding what to get! I decided to go for the yam crunch roll (prawn, yam, tempura, cucumber, avocado, topped with yam tempura, sprinkled with spicy flakes) and hot night roll (prawn, yam tempura, avocado, cucumber topped with spicy tuna & tobiko). I LOVED both rolls so much. Each bite was jam packed with spice, sauce, and flavour. The rolls were only around $11-$13, which for what we got is extremely affordable. Rolls this size are usually $15+ at other restaurants. Between the prices, sushi quality, and friendly and great service, this place is one of my new favourite sushi spots. There's a reason that they've been voted best Japanese restaurant in this area. Definitely worth the trip out here. If you live in this area and have never been here - well here's your new neighbourhood sushi spot! Thanks for the awesome dining experience, Akari!

The ambiance felt warm and well organized with comfortable seating and a nice setup that made it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was good as well. I especially loved the mango avocado tempura rolls because they were light, crispy, and refreshing. The miso soup tasted comforting and flavorful, and the beef tataki bowl was also good. We ended up ordering quite a bit of food along with some sake and everything was served nicely. The only thing I did not enjoy as much was the veggie gyoza because the filling tasted a bit unusual to me. Overall, we had a pleasant experience dining here. It is very important for restaurants to maintain genuine pricing while continuing to serve quality food that makes customers want to come back again, and I hope they continue to maintain both their pricing and quality.

Searching on yelp for options, we found this little Japanese restaurant only 5-10 minutes away from the ferry terminal. It was nice to see that it was open later, I think until 930 and the restaurant itself is very welcoming and nice. We were quickly seated and all got menus for all four of us. The food options are great, I think I could tell that there was a strong Korean influence as there was Kim Chi, fried rice and a number of other Korean influenced options. We ordered quickly, including some edamame and spring rolls and everything. It came out fast and hot. The server was friendly. The place was nice. The seating was comfortable. The price was reasonable and can highly recommend you stop here. As a coincidence leaving out of the parking lot you can exit through the Tim Hortons and grab a coffee and a chocolate dipped doughnut to go.

The place looks spacious on the outside as it shares the building and is adjacent joining to the Browns Social House. But once inside you realize it's pretty small with only 6 dine in tables and more suitable as a takeout joint. We wanted to keep it simple and ordered a Sashimi Box and a Karaage Don. The Karaage Don's chicken didn't taste like it had really any solid chicken pieces in it and just comprised of mushed up pieces of chicken parts. Furthermore, it was paired up with a honey mustard sauce on the side which was odd and did not compliment the dish well, definitely had better. The Sashimi Box's contents were pretty big portions, but the Tuna Sashimi was not thawed properly before being served and it had a really strong fishy smell to it. At $26.95, it's overpriced by around $4.00 compared to it's competitors around town in addition to the subpar quality was a real downer.
