Service is 5 stars, but food is downgrading. We ordered a teriyaki chicken, but the rice was cold and hard. It did look fresh cook. 2 tiny little egg rolls, for sure it's not house made. My quarantine take out order cuisine of choice has been sushi. I've been OBSESSED. I was at the bank across the street from Ladner Sushi when one of my sushi cravings hit, so I crossed the street and popped in. With their current set up, they have the whole restaurant blocked off with a little table at the front to place your order, pay, and pick up your order. I was craving different kinds of sushi and realized my parents hadn't eaten lunch yet either, so I ordered the "Favourite Party Tray" which included a variety of their most popular rolls and the agedashi tofu. For all of that it this was a really great deal for 48 pieces of sushi + an appetizer. While I loved all the sushi I ate, I wasn't the biggest fan of the agedashi tofu as it had a bit of a bitter aftertaste. The staff here are super friendly and my order was ready within 15 minutes. Plus, there's plenty of free parking around Ladner Village. Thank you for the delicious lunch, Ladner Sushi! Will definitely be back to try more of your menu! read more

This is a cute little place on the strip in Ladner. The service was excellent. The owners are very attentive and personable. The sushi is decently priced and there is a good variety to choose from. We were surprised at the great pricing of the wine. 1/2 litre of house wine is 9.99 and it was decent white wine. We sat at the bar, which is small but works, as the rest of the restaurant was full. Decent sushi spot in the heart of Ladner village. Huge menu, full of many different sushi rolls, teriyaki, tempura, and more. They have lots of combos, including bento boxes and sushi party plates. Quality was solid, pretty standard for Greater Van sushi places. Interior was decorated nicely, very welcoming, with good service. Prices on the boxes were rather high ($15 for the veggie box, near $20 for others); with sushi combos running $11-14 or so. Not worth going out of your way, but if you're looking for sushi and you're in Ladner, it's worth a try. read more

I love these guys. The sushi is the best I can find in this area at a decent price. They did recently raise their prices, but I can deal because the quality is so good. Main reason I am a regular here is that I am celiac and some sushi places use gluten in their sushi rice (crazy... Maguro in ladner is one that said all of their sushi is not gluten free) whether it's beer or malt vinegar. And in other locations I have gotten it, i've had cross contamination (a separate sushi location in ladner who verified they are gluten free gave me rolls that had bits of tempura stuck the rice as if they had used the same counter or take out dish for tempura beforehand. This is the ONLY quality controlled sushi location in Ladner IMO. This is the absolute only place i eat out to because I don't trust any other restaurant's guarantee of cross contamination. On top of that their customer service is really good. The first time I called to order from them, I asked for gluten free soy sauce. They delivered all the sushi with some glutenous soy sauce and then unmarked soy sauce in plastic dip dishes. So I couldn't be sure if they heard me when I said only GF tamari.. Also some of the soy sauce had spilled inside the sushi container so I felt it was too risky to eat it. I called them and explained this and they no joke delivered the same thing again to me for free. Best customer service Ever. Now they label all my soy sauce hahaha.. read more

Worst Japanese restaurant in BC... I'm suffering from stomach aches as I write this... The crab in their special california roll must have come out of a can, smelled fishy... the tuna tataki slices were very unlike tataki and had more lettuce than tuna, plus had a pretty awful sauce... tempura batter was too thick... oyster motoyaki tasted funny... I came all the way from Vancouver to try out Ladner Sushi with my family since we had tried quite a few number of sushi restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond already. The drive wasn't too long compared to driving to Gastown Vancouver from my home, and the place is an even shorter drive from Richmond. Service was good and owners were friendly. We were greeted right when we entered and promptly seated and served with tea. It was our first time here and they recommended the Fire Dragon Roll. As standard, I tried their tuna and salmon nigiri sushi and was impressed. Unlike most sushi places where cold, bland rice is served, the sushi rice served at Ladner's is closer to room temperature (which is vital for maintaining the texture and flavour) with the appropriate hints of sweetness, saltiness and sushi vinegar sourness that sushi rice should have. The rice that the slice of raw fish is served on is what distinguishes sushi from sashimi. I was impressed with the combination of the well-seasoned sushi rice at the proper temperature and the coolness of the raw slice of fish on top. This is sushi (not sashimi with rice). Each sushi place has their own special rolls, and I ordered two to try out--their Fire Dragon Roll (which they recommended) and their Awesome Ladner Roll. Again, surprisingly, both were good. In fact, if "good" means "not bad" when you visit a new place, then what I mean is that they were actually delicious. Their Awesome Ladner Roll is like a light spicy tuna special roll that is intricately packed with flavours--it's a strong yet light roll at the same time. The Fire Dragon Roll had a slightly thicker sauce and an overall stronger flavour if that's what you like. It was the first time avocados tasted this good on a sushi for me thanks to its mesh of flavours. I also tried the tuna and salmon maki. Again, they use a flavourful nori and not a bland one. If you prefer your nori to be crispy, try to minimize the time the maki rests as the moisture in the rice will be absorbed by the nori. I do not expect a sushi place to toast their nori, and to be honest, I let my maki sit for a bit before I got to it so I'm just going to comment on the tastiness of their nori which was quite tasty. As a side not, considering how many people order takeout, nobody really pays attention to the crispiness of the nori anymore. If you do care, try to order a simpler maki as it will reduce the time the rice is on the nori as it is being topped leading to less moisture absorbed by the nori. As for their salad, if you're reminiscent of the blended Japanese Restaurant-Style salad dressing with that zing served over crunchy greens, then this is what they serve. The last few sushi places I visited did not dress their salads like this so it was nice to see Ladner Sushi using the familiar salad dressing I was used to. I also tried their Beef Teriyaki On Rice, Oyako Don (which my father had), Agedashi Tofu, Prawn Tempura, Miso Soup, and Seaweed Salad. Clearly, while not every dish is going to be over the top delicious as everyone has a different palate, I can say that surprisingly even the least appealing dish tasted not bad, which is probably a big achievement in modern standards. My family tried their Chopped Scallop Roll and Udon which I didn't have so I can't comment on those. Overall, out of the dishes I've tried, the stars of the show were their sushi rice, seaweed, and special rolls. I will probably be back to try their other special rolls and their baked oyster which I didn't get to try. read more

Super fresh sushi spot in the heart of Ladner village. The prices are quite reasonable and best of all the sushi is actually bite-sized! I'm loathing this new trend of sushi being so enormous you end up looking like a hamster trying to eat it. Not so here; Ladner Sushi is super fresh and flavourful and perfect for popping in your mouth. The tempura is crunchy and well-cooked. Lunch Box B is a particular favourite of mine. I mostly get takeout, which is always ready at exactly the time they say it is, and packaged nicely. But, if you're eating dine-in, I agree that the service is just sort of... basic. Your order is taken and food is brought, and that's kind of it. Still, the amazing quality of the food keeps me coming back! read more

Excellent sushi! Usually get delivery which is very friendly and not too long of a wait. Our favourite rolls are Farmview roll ( seaweed and spicy mayo on top) Vegas roll. Gyoza are very good as are the tempura prawns. Always consistent. Very good value. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a sushi restaurant. Our office often orders from here due to the convenience that they deliver within Ladner during our office hours. The first time we ordered we went in, and I was going to take a few rolls to go for some coworkers, I asked my server how much 4 or 5 different rolls would be and she responded with "I'm not a calculator" and walked away. One of the first times we ordered delivery, they made a mistake and brought us 8pc. sashimi when we ordered a 4pc. sashimi. They charged us for 4 after we had to tell them we did not want an 8, they left and came back 10 minutes later and asked us to give them 4 pieces back, which was absolutely disgusting for the reason being who would you give 4 pieces of sashimi that have been touched by many hands. The second time we ordered, we got teriyaki chicken which was yellow, stale and hard as a rock. The food had a disgusting smell, and we threw it away immediately. Today, I ordered and was advised it would be about an hour wait due to deliveries prior to ours (which we said was fine), when the delivery driver arrived she told me the bill was $27.00, and I have her $30.00 (a 11% tip). I always usually leave at least 15-20%, however due to all of the poor customer service we received in the past I was not feeling very generous. As the driver today was leaving, she turns and says "next time tip at least 15% as delivering out here is not worth the man power at the restaurant". I was honestly taken aback for somebody ASKING for more of a tip, so I gave her an additional $2.00, and she left happy. I called the restaurant to tell them how frustrating that experience was (to have an employee ask you for more money), and tell them that this type of bad customer service has happened so many times and that we will probably not be ordering again. Rather than actually talk to me about the problems, he decided to just say "okay, thank you", and hang up the phone. Ladner has a lot of sushi places, but I can safely say Ladner Sushi is the worst. I, as well as all of my coworkers, will never order from here again. I wish I could leave zero stars. read more

This is a great little spot. I like to go in during lunchtime and get the deal that is miso soup and 3 rolls for just over $10 with tax, it is very filling and they also provide free green tea and water. It also has a nice feel to it. read more

Not impressed. I picked the lunch special where you get three items for 10.95 and they really cheaped out on each item. The nigiri salmon and tuna were sliced so thinly and the serving of teriyaki chicken was so tiny that I felt very ripped off. Never going there again. read more

The fish is always fresh and their service is friendly. it is a family-run restaurant with Danny creating consistently fantastic sushi and his wife Kathy running the front of the house. I have eaten at every sushi bar in Ladner and Tsawwassen and many in nearby areas and I would rate Ladner Sushi as the best in food and service hands down. Try the spicy salmon cone, spicy agadashi tofu and my 6 year old's fav the chicken karaage and you will not be disappointed. read more
