I have been a fan of Togo Sushi for years and have always had a solid experience. Was craving sushi one evening and decided to place a take out order via Uber Eats. The New West location happened to be the closest one to order from, the first time I have tried it. First off, Togo sushi is great in terms of value, quality, and quantity. We ordered a Salmon Avocado roll, Tropical roll, and aburi salmon roll. For nirgri's, we ordered the 2 salmon, one Tomago, one chopped scallop, and one unagi. There was an Uber Eats promo so we got a free order of tomago fries. The tomago fries were surprisingly tasty and I actually would recommend and order again. The nirgri's were average - the scallop didn't seem as fresh as previous times I have had from other Togo locations. The salmon avocado roll was disappointing as it didn't taste very fresh. It's usually one of my go to staple rolls and hard to screw up but this one didn't hit the spot. The aburai roll was good though. The tropical roll I previously had from the Metrotown location and was good but was only okay this time around. Overall, a bit disappointing experience but was great value for how much food we got. I visited this location at New Westminster station about a week ago, and sushi was mediocre. I sat at one of the small tables near the counter, with my back facing that counter. When I was almost done eating, I happened to turn around to the counter, and noticed the young clerk brushing her teeth between the counter and a sink a little further back. I went here for a quick lunch on Tuesday after a movie. I felt like trying this place and the food came out fresh. I had free miso soup with Cali Combo ($9.50) and the food was not bad for the price. Sushi rice was moist. Salmon and tuna roll tasted good. Water was self-serve. I'd like it better if the portion was bigger though. My overall experience wasn't bad, so I'd give 3 stars. Came in here for lunch and the service was friendly and the food delicious. I didn't want to spend too much time pouring over the menu, so I selected the Sashimi Bento, which seemed to offer a decent sampling of a variety of items. I've found that bento boxes are a good choice at most sushi establishments as they relieve you of the need to pick out individual items when everything seems equally desirable. The box is aptly named as it contained a sizeable chunk of sashimi fish, but unfortunately not a whole lot of much else. There were only two gyozas, a few California rolls, and a measly salad. I imagine the bulk of the $16+ contributes towards the fish, but given that this is one of the pricier offerings I was hoping for a bit more substance. Although the box includes miso soup, I was caught off guard by the cashier's question as to whether I needed miso soup, soy sauce, and wasabi/garlic. For fast food sushi, this is a great place for affordable sushi without the hassle of long waits. It does get rushes of people at times, but even then, I get it in around 10 minutes after ordering. My new favourite is the veggie bento box. Around $10 after tax, you can get a good variety of food. It includes a veggie roll, inari sushi, green salad, seaweed salad, and miso soup. Plus, free water and tea! And unlike some restaurants, you can get the bento box at any point of day. I always leave with a full stomach here. Service was fine, you just have to deal with people who don't know what they want in the line up sometimes. read more

Came here recently with a buddy of mine because we were hungry and were on our way here anyways. They had a pretty decent selections and their sushi did taste somewhat okay and pretty tasty. The employees were friendly and our order did come out within a reasonable amount of time (though it could've been a few minutes quicker, but still not all that bad). The issue is the price. It ended up costing the neighborhood of around $12~$14~ish dollars for a simple plate of Salmon and Tuna nigiri sushi with a simple sushi roll and a side drink. The reason why it was a bit too expensive was because the portion wasn't even all that good and you could've gotten a much better deal somewhere else to be honest. Or least somewhere else where the sushi tasted better. I just want to start off by saying that I usually don't do reviews on restaurants but this is by far one of the WORST restaurants I've ever been to. I usually go to the one at Guildford Mall and today I decided to go to the one in new west. When I first ordered my food, I asked if they had tea and the employee said "No" in a really rude tone. Then after 20 minutes, I got my order and I was very disappointed. I love my sushi and the other day I was seriously craving it. I normally go to a sushi restaurant over in Columbia Square but decided to give this place a shot. They deserve a solid 3.5 - 4 stars. I ordered a California Roll combo and Ebi Sunomono and I wasn't disappointed. This was probably the best Ebi Sunomono I have had. I realize it's not hard to mess this up but it was full and a decent size for the price. The California Roll combo came with 8 pieces Cali Roll and 3 or 4 Nigiri. Can't remember exactly. All in all, the food was really good. I was disappointed that there didn't appear to be any Miso on their menu. Now the location is small but manageable. I've been going here ever since it opened, which is about 4 years now. Service has always been fast and it's been the same woman at the cash for as long as it's opened. I usually get sushi to go, but eating in is clean and nice. There is tea in the front that you can help yourself with. My favourite rolls to get are the spicy salmon roll and kamikaze roll, as well as the mango roll which is the best of the best! Why are you so good?? Whilst perusing through the New Westminster Skytrain mall one afternoon I figured i'd get some cheap sushi to go home. I didn't expect much, it was a small place with a very fast food kind of feel to it but I was hungry and figured it would at least be a step above the grocery store sushi. Boy was I wrong. It was fantastic then and has always been fantastic every time I go. The fish tastes fresh with generous helpings, the avocado is never brown or spotted, the Tempura is crisp and not too greasy. I'm in love with this place. The lady at the front desk is always the same when I go and she's always smiling and kind and prompt. We went for a pre-movie dinner here - sushi is one of the kid's favourite meals. The sushi was good - the roles, the miso, etc - and my wife had a teriyaki chicken bowl. The veggies (broccoli, etc) were perfectly steamed. So why the 1-star rating? Even though we ate in the restaurant, we got a bunch of Styrofoam and plastic. At the end of the meal, we had this huge pile of garbage, as the recycling was only for bottles, etc. Their garbage can was totally full of a bunch of unnecessary garbage. We won't eat there again. Had I written this review after first visit when Togo opened it would have been 4 stars but the 2nd visit prevented me from returning to Togo to eat permanently. I was served California roll with 2 very obvious black thick hairs in it. My stomach twisted and I gagged. I was not able to eat and had to pay. I have not returned and will not though I walk pass it almost every day. I also recommend going to the Guildford location as well as the food is also great and wheelchairs accessible but the Guildford location does not have a washroom in the actual restaurant part but the New west location does. Not that great for prices, tasteless tea. Tried the kamikaze roll which was really just covered in hot sauce and fish roe. Tiny for portions/size of roll (the whole roll sliced fit in the palm of my hand) and almost $8. Catered primarily for Caucasians. You won't find many Asians here because the quality is really lacking and the whole tea thing is totally lost in a self-serve station and the tea tastes like cardboard soaked in drain water. Or maybe it's white people green tea like Lipton. Mostly a successful fast food joint and good if you're desperate and need something on the go which I did at the time. It wasn't the easiest place to find with all the construction at the new west skytrain but when I did it was worth it! I had the salmon teriyaki. I so did not expect to be as delicious as it was. The teriyaki sauce was the same at any togo, thick but not too sweet. The miso soup was awesome! Real miso! No powdered stuff there. :) The salmon was cooked with the skin on and that makes a big difference for the flavour. It also tasted like it probably was fresh, not frozen.
