    AYCE menu
    Jerry S.

New AYCE menu - see photo A couple of my favorites are now dinner only. If you crave fried oysters or sashimi salad, $10 more. I guess that's what they had to do to hold the line on price.

While looking for lunch options in the area, I found Sushi Freedom. The customer service could use a little improving starting with acknowledging waiting customers even if your not a host/hostess. Another customer told me the hostess had just gone to the back. Honestly, thats the only reason I waited. I would have left after not being acknowledged for so long. (There's was a waiter who came up to the area I was in and he could have easily said hello, and someone would be with me in a moment. ) They had decent options for lunch specials and everything that others were getting looked good. I settled on the General Tso's chicken. Most places, even though it's listed as spicy, it never is. There's had a nice kick to it, but it wasn't overwhelming. The sushi looked really good and they had an all you can eat option. Maybe I'll try that next time.

Ok we stumbled upon this place by accident and were so pleasantly surprised! They market themselves as AYCE, but I didn't see anything about that inside, nor did our waitstaff seem to offer it. Maybe it's only specific days/times of the week? We split 4 rolls. Here they are in order of how much I liked them (and I really liked all of them!) Caught in a Bad Romance Shrimp tempura, kani, avocado & cucumber inside, tobiko outside, crunch, spicy mayo and eel sauce on the top Super Salmon Roll Salmon tempura & avocado inside, salmon, crunchy and chef's spicy sauce Kamikaze Roll Spicy salmon, crunch, cream cheese, and avocado topped with jalapeno, special sauce, sriracha Mango Roll Shrimp tempura and avocado inside, topped with lobster and fresh mango, wrapped in pink soy crepe, and drizzled with eel sauce and mango sauce. We also split the chicken drunken noodles, which were good but nothing special. Service was a bit slow, but the food was good enough to negate it.

Came in for a late dinner and place was clean. Our server was Peter who was absolutely outstanding as he seemed to know the menu and bar like the back of his hand. Food was great served quick and hot. Peter was exceptional with everything.

My Wife (and BFF!) and I noticed Sushi Freedom took over the old Dairy Queen spot, and since we saw it had pretty good ratings, we decided to check it out. Honestly, it didn't really meet the standards of those high ratings for us. When we got in, we only had to wait about 5 to 7 minutes to be seated. The waiter was nice, friendly, and quick with the food. However, the menus are completely overwhelming. There is so much to choose from, and honestly, when I see a restaurant offering that many options, I start to wonder if the food will actually be great. You can't be a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. We ordered a few things to try. The absolute highlight was the Shrimp Egg Rolls. The shrimp was good, the cabbage inside was good, it wasn't too greasy, and the outer shell was perfectly crispy. I would literally go back just to place a to-go order for those. The Gyoza, on the other hand, was not a great surprise. It just wasn't good, and I wouldn't order it again. For my main, we got the Combination Fried Rice. They give you an absolute mountain of it, so much that we ate there and still took a huge container home for two more meals. They don't skimp on the meat; there was plenty of chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp. The problem? It was completely flavorless. When I took it home, I heated it up in a pan with some garlic butter, and it was phenomenal. It tasted so much better that My Wife literally asked, "Is that the same rice we had?" For sushi, we did the three-roll lunch deal. My Wife got the California Roll, and I got the Spicy Tuna Roll. Both were good, but nothing to write home about. I also added the Chicken Tempura Roll just to try something different from my usual shrimp. That was my own fault--I should have known better because it's chicken, not real sushi. It wasn't bad, it was just weird, and I definitely wouldn't do it again. Overall, we have a couple of other sushi spots we go to all the time that are consistently fresh with much better flavor. I have to disagree with the high ratings here. It won't be replacing our regular sushi spots, but if I'm ever craving those shrimp egg rolls, I might stop by for takeout.

Their sushi is extremely delicious and fresh!! Honestly it's the best sushi spot in MD, I highly recommend going. Also the servers are extremely nice :))

This is our go to sushi place after work. Conveniently located. I took my kiddo there for lunch - it's an AYCE spot. Got seated right away. The staff are very attentive, lots of food options and clean. We started with crab Rangoon, minced chicken with lettuce wrap, and egg drop soup. Then for entrees, tuna lover, butterfly, sushi freedom, volcano, and Godzilla rolls. Enjoyed them, fast service and it only cost us about $50 - not bad at all for Sushi. Took 1 star due to crab Rangoon - filling was lacking.

Sushi Freedom delivers one of the better AYCE sushi experiences I've had in the area. Plenty of free parking right outside and a good amount of seating, plus a private room for families and small parties. Everything is made-to-order - fresh rolls! The sashimi was fresh and not frozen like some AYCE places. The menu has sashimi, sushi/nigiri, specialty rolls, hand rolls, and also hot items. We ordered multiple rounds of rolls and sashimi and were impressed how fresh everything tasted, especially for AYCE. They bring them out on a sushi boat when you order a lot, nice touch! I love that didn't skimp on the presentation just because it's AYCE! They just added beef and chicken teriyaki - both were solid! They even had sweet shrimp sashimi and fried whole soft shell crab for dinner service - unique eats for AYCE! Service was also efficient and friendly, keeping plates coming without rushing us. For the variety, quality, and value, Sushi Freedom is a great option when you're craving AYCE but still want more than just basic rolls like some buffets. Would definitely come back, especially with the expanding hot food options! For only $22.95 for lunch and $33.95 for dinner, it's a great value for made-to-order rolls and fresh sashimi!

Date of Visit: 11/30/2024 This review is a bit delayed but I went in for a solo lunch last minute. It was pretty empty, assuming it was because of the time of day that I went. It was my first time here and never had their food. Service: Customer Service was good. No complaints. When I arrived I was greeted and seated right away. My waiter and waitress came pretty quickly. My food orders came out in a pretty timely fashion. Again it was empty so I can't speak on how their timing will be at busier hours. Ordered: Entree':General Tso Chicken, Fried Rice Rating: 10/10 Appetizers: Soy Garlic Wings Rating: 10/10 The Soy Garlic wings are my fav. Since my first visit in Nov, I have been back to have dinner. I have order those Soy Garlic wings numerous times. All in all my experiences have been good and I will go back again. If you're ever in the area, check them out. FYI: They now have ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI!!!

Cute restaurant that has a private VIP room that can cater large party. High quality fish and seafood! Very fresh sushi! Yummy appetizers and awesome soba and perfectly cooked teriyaki for those that don't want sushi. Top it off with a wide variety of drinks - both alcoholic (delicious cocktails) and non-alcoholic beverages. Definitely bang for my bucks! All you can eat made-to-order freshness! Great service. Seated quickly and waitress keeps checking to ensure whether I want more. They definitely ensure you get your bang for your bucks.

The sushi lover in me is about to cry You mean there's a made-to-order sushi restaurant where I can try exotic rolls, sashimi, and the standard fare without a care in the world? Like I don't have to get up and go to a bar where it's been sitting for who knows how long, but sit at a lovely table and enjoy the ambiance while someone brings a boat of happiness? I can even order a beer/wine/cocktail or sake with it? To the owner, the mastermind, the one in charge...thank you. The specialty rolls we tried were the Lollipop, Twinkle Star, Caught in a Bad Romance, Kamikaze, Temptation, and Rainbow. The Lollipop Roll needs to be on your rotation if you're low-carb, and they're kind enough to serve vinaigrette on the side. It's hard to pick a favorite, but there's a video and photo attached to the review. Take a look if you can :) I'm still in awe of how fresh everything tasted. It's literally a sushi lovers dream, and the sides were good too! We got crab rangoons (the biggest ones I've ever seen), steak and cheese eggroll, and regular egg rolls. The ambiance can accommodate whatever you need. Work lunch, friendly get together, a date, even a solo meal if you desire. They served our sushi in a pretty boat with a smoky light :D Even the soy sauce was in a pretty bottle with a cork. Please put them on your rotation if you're a sushi lover. You won't be disappointed.

They have a pretty good lunch deal for all you can eat--only $22.95. Variety on the menu is good, the sushi was decent. Service was lacking, though. If you don't order everything at once you will wait ages for your server to reappear. I would have liked to try more things but didn't want to be there all day waiting. Good value, though.

The restaurant looks exactly the same as prior restaurant. Much of the menu is the same but they do offer a all you can eat option. We opted for the regular menu. Two of us got the appetizer chicken lettuce wraps. It was good. One got couple rolls. Overall, good experience.

I didn't find any krab or even the taste of it, but good none the less. I shared another appetizer, inuri ( not sure if spelling), tofu fried in a wrapper and covered in a delicious sweet sauce. I'm not a tofu person, but this dish could change that! DH ordered hot and sour soup and drunken noodles. Not a fan of hot and sour soup but I liked this one! So did DH. He loved his drunken noodles with pork. It had a hint of curry and was a little spicy. He ordered a sweet tea and said it was really, really sweet. Diner #2 ordered miso soup and teriyaki chicken. She loved the soup and I got to taste her chicken. It came kind of fajita style on a sizzling platter with red and green peppers, broccoli and a little bit of onion with a generous portion of chicken breast sliced on top with a good sauce and sesame seeds. It was accompanied by white rice. Large enough portion that she has lunch for tomorrow! Diner #3 ordered an eel roll and a few pieces of fat salmon sashimi. She said it was all good. I ordered pad Thai with shrimp. Several large shrimp were delicious and the noodles were very good. I ordered it as mild as possible and there was not a hint of 'hot' spice although it was physically really hot, which I love. I think next time I'd ask for a little heat in it. As I'm writing this I realize I could have asked for some chili oil or something to spice it but I enjoyed it very much. The server was terrific and a few people made sure our drinks were refilled. I definitely am looking forward to my next visit here. There are lots of things I want to try!

I think that the customer service was excellent and the chef had charisma, personality, and should do stand up, he was a pleasure and a joy such a guy with rizz. My issue was the food itself as the rice was amazing but did not age well being taken back home for take out, and the chicken and salmon were not as flavorful as a homemade version I would had cooked so there was the blandness. I ended up having digestive issues and got sick for a day or two after eating from here which was disappointing, because the vibe is awesome in this spot and the positive energy is contagious. I felt so relaxed and joyous here. I think the food can be cooked better even though they are generous with excellent portion sizes. I think it is a strong contender for one of the best restaurants in the region if they step the food preparation up. I also did not like this sauce they provided, but it does have better customer service than the typical DMV spots which tend to struggle with the customer service, so they get an A with that making you feel welcomed and respected and not strictly transactional experience, very warm, nice, attentive, diligent, and hard working staff, so they have the bones here, so once they step up the actual food prep and quality then they will be 4 to 5 stars easily. That is all I got!
