As soon as I walked in a was overwhelmed by the smell of fish .. yeah a sushi place that smells fishy , I should have walked out but decided to just get a teriyaki bowl and a few pieces of fish to give it a fair shake . The fish was soft , mushy almost , and was clearly not fresh . The sushi rice was warm ... that didn't help at all .. is that even a thing ? The teriyaki bowl literally had ~3 Oz of overcooked dry chicken sitting on a bed of mushy rice and a teriyaki sauce that was pretty foul. Super long wait. And we are the only ones here. Even soup takes long. And the soup isn't flavorful. One plate of sashimi is $13. And it wasn't even sliced properly. This is a second attempt. Minus having to work three menus to figure out what to order it is not that bad. Kid meal is for a small kid. Not a big portion at all. So the tweeners will have to augment it or order off the big boy menus. Roll seem fair priced for portion. I had the sushi combo but portions were some of the smallest in the area. Came with more variety but portion was smaller. Individual rolls seem to be the way to go. Service was inconsistent. Quick with the drink order. Walked away halfway through the ordering then forgot my entree came with miso soup. Had to ask and I was really getting frustrated I could not hear our soft spoken waitress over the ball game. My favorites are the Lemon Drop which is similar to a tuna roll with a thin slice of lemon on each piece. It's killer. I also love the Volcano and the Caterpillar . I was out of town working and the normal routine for me is to get sushi every day. Last night I had sushi at this established and and got garlic edamame and a Chirashi bowl. As I only like salmon so I tried to order a Chirashi bowl with just salmon. I do this everywhere in the world that I try sushi. The sush chef said he cannot do this. When I heard this response I thought this is not customer service, you NEVER say NO to a customer. He said no I can't do this causes Chirashi is selected fish. Again, he was basically having an attitude with me and although not arguing he was not making it a nice experience to dine here. I was stern and I said, everyone gives me Salmon with my Chirashi, I am willing to pay an up charge if needed. After I pressed him again, he said that he would ask his boss. He came back and said it would be $5 more, I said okay and I gave him a thumbs up. They he called out to the waitress and said add $5 more onto his bill, meaning me. That was uncalled for. You don't need to project through the entire restaurant to hear. I also wanted to have Fox Sports on the TV and I asked him nicely to change the channel to Soccer. When he found Fox on the other TV in back of the sushi bar he asked me if that was it. I said yes, thank you. Than he was arguing with me that the game was not live. I was like, yes Fifa World Cup is played in the morning, I work. I know the score. I want to watch the replay. Again, wtf. Don't diss your customers. I am from Atlanta and the south, I am very friendly so it was not like I had an attitude. I got an MBA after my medical degree years ago and I learned, the customer is always correct. Don't make the customers experience any less. You need your customers to survive. There are like 20 sushi restaurants in Temecula alone. Many to choose from. A plus note is my waitress was of asian heritage and she was beautiful. I have been at a different sushi place everynight since Saturday and she was by far the best looking. Very nice and charming. My Chirashi had rice at the bottom and salad on top and than salmon. It was okay. I have no idea why there was salad. If you are going to give me salad, give me a miso dressing than. The garlic edamame was not bad, garlic was not cut, it was just garlic salt. Too salty for me. I'll look for another sushi place tonight. I would have liked to go back just given the beauty of the waitress, but not worth it for the attitude and food quality. read more
