Uhhhh, HELL YEAH. When I again fell prey to the combination of my empty fridge and insane hunger, I ordered from here because I figured that raw food would be that much faster. Though the delivery time said 30-45 minutes, the delivery man was here in under 20 minutes! Also, he was not rude-- so perhaps I got a different guy. In fact, he was all smiles! Score! Kind of nervous that I must have a container of mercury poisoning and a mishmash of rice, I opened the bag to see that there were three very neat and tidy rolls of very normal size. I ordered the white tuna roll, the salmon mango roll, and a spicy yellowtail hand roll. All were just $3.10 each. I would highly recommend the spicy yellowtail hand roll. It was huge and filling, and very flavorful. My second favorite was the salmon mango roll, which was quite good and had toasted sesame seeds surrounding it. The white tuna was just OK. It wasn't the best white tuna in the world, but it certainly wasn't bad. I also got the seaweed salad, which was very fresh and just delightful! The ginger was just OK, and next time I will ask for extra wasabi. I could not believe my eyes at the price, though. I was afraid to order $1.00 sushi à la cart, but next time I'll load up on it. Nothing smelled fishy and it all tasted good. I will certainly order sushi delivery from them again. If I have lots of friends over, we may even opt for a party platter or something. I Love the food and value here. I usually go in, order and take out. But on this night I called for a delivery and waited one hour yes one hour. Excuse me, but this is NYC no-one waits one hour for a delivery. Did the delivery guy deserve a tip? Maybe I should have given him ten cents like Deshawn McCoy? Was it his fault? Cute little restaurant nestled in Booth Street, right off of 63rd Drive. I enjoyed their eel avocado roll and tempura. I tried my friend's pork cutlet (don-katsu) and Tiffany roll, which were very good. I also liked the miso soup and fried ice cream. I would definitely come back here again! read more

The only thing that stood out positively about this place was their delivery time frame; it was well within the 30-45 min range they estimated, so it was off to a good start. From then on, it went from mediocre to just plain bad. As others have stated, the food here is mediocre. Not bad, but also not as stand out as other locations. The portions are a bit smaller compared to what I'm used to at Sake Sushi, also in Rego Park (my normal place, but it opened later and I was starving), in terms of salmon/avocado portions. And it's a little more money per roll $3.10 versus $2.99, but that's really marginal. What really made this place a "no-go" on my future outings/dining is the service. Yes, this was delivery and perhaps eating in would be different, but it really puts a bad taste in your mouth when something as simple as a delivery is so terrible. First off, I made a note on my order to "CALL PHONE, BELL BROKEN" (all in caps, just in case), and I put the volume up on my phone and waited. However, about 35 minutes later, there is this angry and violent banging on the front door! I was shocked and figured it had to be the delivery, so of course I open the door and there the guy is, gesturing at the doorbell, in obvious annoyance. So, OK, it's some kind of error, maybe my note didn't show up on my form (highly unlikely, however, as it seems to be a direct printout), but he hands me the thing to sign, sighing again in obvious annoyance. He hands me the food, and as he turns to leave and walks off, complains that my tip was not enough. And this is what really pissed me off- I worked in food service before, I know how hard people can work, and I don't consider myself cheap at all. I gave 10% of my order, which didn't equate to a lot, granted I didn't order a lot, so it's all comparable. It seems this guy expected a huge tip, but he's not a waiter, bringing me my dishes, taking my plates, refilling my water, getting me drinks or dessert. He was hired as a delivery guy, and his job is to bring people food, and tips are never going to be a lot. It's the nature of the job. Honestly, if I knew what a rude delivery guy I was going to get, disturbing the people in my building- I have an elderly and sick grandmother living there, and her aide was so alarmed by the violent door banging- here's the only tip I would have given: the finger. But I like to tip delivery people and I automatically put it on the card, the amount THE WEBSITE ITSELF calculates for me. I have ZERO inclination to go back here. The food definitely was not amazing enough to come back for, and I would never risk dealing with such a crappy delivery guy. I prefer to go to a sushi place with hearty/generous portions, quality food, and competent service, where they know to call as well as graciously accept whatever tip they get. read more

The prices are really cheap so you would expect the quality of the food to match...but NO! The fish is really good here. Thick, fresh pieces. The sushi rolls are so cheap $2.50. It's amazing. They deliver locally for free. (which I recommend because the restaurant is tiny tiny tiny...maybe 4 small tables total) As one other Yelper mentioned, be sure to speak clearly and don't make too many crazy off-menu special requests! I've been here countless times, mostly to pick up the food, and I love this place. My favorite rolls are the chicken teriyaki and spicy tuna with crunch. The staff is attentive and the service is fast most of the time - pick up and delivery. The quality is pretty good for the price, which is almost half of typical Japanese restaurants. $5 for 2 salmon avocado rolls are my husband's favorite snack and I have no problem with the healthiness. The dirtiest place, I have ever been to! The server was so dirty herself, her cloths her and her hands were dirty. The glass plate for salad had so much caked on dirt, ugh! I got food poisoning lasting 3 days long. I've never been so sick in my life. I ate VEGGIE sushi- I don't eat seafood. How do you make someone SICK from rice, cucumbers and seaweed?!?!? I'm glad I have found this place, you absolutely cannot beat the price. You get what you pay for, and in this case you get a ton. You would be hard pressed to finish an entire combo box. I've been eating at Sushi 33 for more than a decade now and I am a big fan of this place. It's small and tucked in a corner on a block in Rego Park. The sushi pieces tend to be a little small, but everything is very tasty. I absolutely LOVE their Boston roll and Golden Dragon roll, the latter of which I can't get enough! The salmon is always fresh, too. My best friend and I used to order one of their sushi boats to share and it was always more than satisfying. I would have given this place 5 stars, but they had a B rating for quite awhile. Glad they have an A again because I just ordered from them last weekend for the first time in months. Affordable sushi when you jut want to go out or have a crave. My family always goes here for birthdays and celebrations. It's not a big restaurant but make sure your appetite is huge. Typical sushi food (rolls) and food platters. Nice service and delicious fried cheesecake :) as well as green tea ice-cream. Great place for. Date or group gatherings....and yes they have takeout. If I could givs no stars, I would. I had made a grubhub order here for a total of $34.57. A little pricey for just absolutely sub-par udon noodles and 2 combo boxes. It took them nearly TWO HOURS for the food to arrive, and to my dissapointment, cold. Granted, it WAS cold out and the drive from there to where I was, is 10 minutes long; but that's not a viable excuse to maintain any delivery service establishment. Whenever I eat sushi or other items from the menu, I generally am satisfied because it's hard for me to not like something that is sushi related. It was just a very very sad dinner experience. All the sauces given were super watered down and had no use for me. BUT as I was pouring out the sauces in one single container to dispose of, I noticed melted wasabi at the bottom of the soy sauce cups. I was merely horrified. I wouldn't try again. First time trying and it wasn't great. You can get a lot better sushi and fresh also at Sato, which is on queens blvd and 65th, 3 blocks away from Sushi 33. I'm not being unfair with the review. Ordered the sushi combo 9, king roll, salmon skin roll, salmon skin salad and salmon teriyaki lunch. Sushi wasnt fresh, but doable. Salmon skin in the roll and salad was under toasted, it was soft and still a bit soggy. Salmon skin is supposed to be crispy. It's not soggy from steam either, it wasn't hot. King roll was ok, they did give pieces of lobster, but there was about 80% panko crumb in the mixture and it was soggy also. Teriyaki salmon was not bad,the rice was ok. The rice for the sushi and rolls were ok. One BIG problem is I had diarrhea 45 mins to an hour after eating. Had nothing else, it was my first meal and only food. Boyfriend had the sushi combo and i had everything else. Maybe it was bad salmon since I ate majority of salmon dishes. Also, they are being very cheap on the soy sauce, wasabi and salad dressing. If you try the soy sauce on its own, you can taste that it was mixed with water. Light soy doesn't taste like that if they're trying to pass it off as that. It's about 60/40 soy & water mixture, you can see that it's very watery. I'm not a big wasabi fan, but even I thought they didn't want to give any at all. The sushi combo they gave the normal amount. I did not get any wasabi at all for the two rolls nor for the roll in the salmon teriyaki lunch special. That's just being extremely cheap, they didn't forget because they sectioned off for the ginger, but only on one roll. I had two salads and they only gave one dressing. This is the problem with Fujienese people, they think they can imitate many different ethnic foods. As long as it's passable they'll start the business. They've done Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Spanish...what's next? If you go to the authentic Japanese restaurants with Japanese chefs, they would not put these food out the way they did. read more

Never ordering from here AGAIN!! Let me explain, we have ordered from this establishment 3 times and every time we have not received what we ordered. On Delivery.com it states hand roll is a roll cut into 6 pieces, so when my food came and it was one whole piece I was surprised and annoyed but since it was only one roll I decided to let it slide. A week later my husband ordered "regular rolls" which on delivery.com the restaurant list this as one large roll, he got the order and called to inquire about it. The lady on the phone told him that regular roll was one piece he should have ordered the hand roll instead. So bearing this in mind, this past weekend my husband ordered again via delivery.com, and since the lady previously told him he was to pick hand rolls if he wanted sushi cut into 6 pieces that's exactly what he put. When the delivery guy came, he rang the bell and by the time I came to the door he was gone and our food was hanging from the doorknob. Open our order and we find 6 large one piece rolls, my husband called and was transferred to three different people, none providing any real assistance. This has been the worse experience with a restaurant that we've ever had. I would have easily brushed it off as the restaurant mistakenly has the wrong information up on the website but we have ordered both options and have gotten the same food. I had the worst sashimi of my life there. At this place you get less than what you pay for-and it's a cheap place. The mackerel was simply a piece of marinated fish out of a jar, not Japanese at all. The eel pieces were tiny and drenched in a sticky generic tasting BBQ sauce, I threw them out because I couldn't wipe off the sauce. The fish roe was worst quality and tasteless. The fluke was stringy and grey and looked like it had been defrosted. The yellowtail was watery, and again ,seemed defrosted. The only thing that tasted normal and like it should, was the salmon. I cannot speak for their sushi but steer clear of their fish. I would never order again unless I wanted cheap salmon sashimi ,and nothing else! read more
