food and drinks were good, but service was fckn trash. we had to wait for our reserved table. drinks took about 30 to arrive. our food took even longer. the kicker was they brought out one person's HOT entree before and others were ready. he sat there until his hot food got cold (we eventually told him to just eat) waiting for the rest of the entrees. the other entrees were brought out 18 MINUTES after the first one. and it's not just a kitchen issue because it also took us 20 minutes to get a fresh bottle of water - we had remind the waiter after she said she'd get it 20 minutes earlier. the food and drinks were good (albeit hella expensive, so you're paying Georgetown prices AKA $17 cocktails and $25 sushi rolls). but the service was just unforgivable. 20 minutes to get a bottle of tap water. 18 minted between entrees. not a single time did she check on us. absolutely pathetic for a $270 bill. Been wanting to check this place out since I saw it pop up in Georgetown! The restaurant is very well decorated and definitely a nice spot for a group birthday dinner, date night or fancy night out. We got the calamari to start - which was actually very good. I loved the jalapenos in it! That got demolished :). I'm a tough sushi critic so maybe that's why I thought it was solid but nothing to really write home about for the most part. For sushi we got: Sebastian (VERY good), Special Roll (good) & Chi Cha Spicy (too much sauce). We also got the Crispy tofu & sesame infused veggies bowl which wasn't bad but also wasn't the best thing I've had either. I would definitely come here again: the ambiance is nice, the service was quick & courteous, sushi is good enough. I have been here twice and had an amazing experience each time. The staff here is very welcoming and kind. And very attentive. I think we had the sweetest waitress ever. The sushi is pretty good. They have a few vegetarian options for people who don't eat fish which is great for me because I still love sushi. The drinks are really good too. I had an old fashioned with Japanese whiskey. I use to come here when it was Matte and now it has been remodeled and goes under a different name but it is still a good place to go to for drinks and some sushi or sashimi if you are on the Georgetown waterfront. I have been here often for Happy Hour and drinks, late at night. The bartenders are all very nice and professional at the bar and very accommodating. This particular time I came to meet a friend for a quick lunch during the work week and we grabbed some sashimi and maki rolls. It was delicious and well presented. Our waitress was very nice and good at giving suggestions on what to eat. She was very cute too. :) My only complaint is not even on the restaurant but how hard it is to find street parking in that area during the middle of day. I had to park in the parking garage and that cost me 13 dollars. In the evening after 7pm, you can usually find some curb side parking. Will definitely revisit. I always enjoy coming here. read more

The pisco sour had a strange soapy aftertaste, the margarita tasted like plastic bottle mix, the red wine was super grape-y, and the white wine was harsh. I decided to have my 21st birthday here thinking it'd be a good choice based on the reviews, but boy was I wrong. Before I get in to the bad & the ugly, a little disclaimer-- everything we ate was very good-- but I'd rather eat from the sewer and receive good service than eat here and receive the service that we did. We arrived at 7pm with a reservation and ordered appetizers-edamame, gyoza, and calamari. We then placed our entree orders and drink orders. After about 40 minutes, they brought out the cold sushi for two of my friends, and all the while the drinks, appetizers, and entrees for the rest of the table had not yet come. We asked the waiter about this and she condescendingly told us that their "concept was to bring everything out as it was ready". Great, so instead of apologizing for the horrible service, she makes it seem like we aren't cultured enough to understand the vision of the restaurant. And, all around us, groups that had ordered after us were eating/ had received THE SAME APPETIZERS THAT WE HAD ORDERED. At this point, I'm starving, my food still hasn't arrived, and the waitress can sense we are pretty angry. She sends a nice looking man in a suit over who introduces himself as a manager. Great, I think to myself, someone who will finally figure out why this is taking so absurdly long and why our drinks, appetizers, and entrees still are not here for the majority of the table. However, the then self proclaimed "manager" starts whipping out a deck of cards and performing magic tricks to try to distract us from the fact that our food is not there yet. And, in the meantime, my friends who ordered cold sushi have finished their meals already and for the rest of the table OUR DRINKS AND ENTREES AND APPETIZERS HAD NOT YET ARRIVED. And, to make matters worse, the magician got so into his distraction that when my food finally arrived, by the time he left and I could eat it, it was cold! Finally, we all finished our entrees (it's been at least an hour and a half since we arrived) AND OUR APPETIZERS STILL HAVE NOT YET COME. As in, we have finished our main course meal and the appetizers (as in the course meant to come before the entrees) has yet to arrive. About thirty minutes after finishing my entree, what shows up but the gyoza and calamari. However, the edamame, aka the easiest thing ever to cook, NEVER SHOWED! And, as the cherry on top, it was my birthday and my friends told me after the fact that they mentioned that to the waiter, but they did nothing at all. And as we walked out, we saw the waiters bringing a free dessert to the table across from us in celebration of another party's birthday. In sum- good food, horrible service. Like the worst ever. Also super expensive for tiny portions. Don't even know what this restaurant would be good for because bad service is never acceptable. read more

Sebastian - Tempura roll with cream cheese inside. Its Crispy and at the same time it was so tender and literally melted in our mouth. Fresco Roll - We love the variety of fish in this roll. Also, we got Shrimp Tempura and bunch of appetizers. My favorite was Chicken Gyoza. The portions were decently small/medium but since each sushi roll come in 8 pieces, 2-3 for each person is enough to fill you up. Desserts: - Molten Lava Cake (with ice cream) - It was delicious, taste as a freshly baked chocolate cookie with a warm, thick, sweet chocolate syrup in the center. We got it with homemade vanilla ice cream which was very good! I definitely preferred it over a Flan and Churros which we got later. Service: The service at Susheria was great! Our waitress was so friendly, always smiling and courteous, she went into detail about the specials and helped us pick the best options. Overall, great food and hospitality at Susheria! After taking our order, she briefly check in on us then did not speak to us for over half an hour, 20 of which we spent waiting as we had finished our food. During that time, we saw her chatting with other employees. We discussed what tip to give and decided to give her leas than we normally would. She finally came to our table and we asked for the check. It was a handheld electronic checkout and she set the tip to 20%. I set it to 18% b/c to go lower would require setting a custom tip and taking the machine from her. I got the fried rice with tuna on top, the rice patty was cold and too much tuna. The tuna was yummy but over the experience was bleh.
