Chicken dumplings
Denaya H.

This place is solid. The service was really fast and our server was extremely nice. I had the miso soup, lemongrass chicken gyozas (dumplings), and the spider roll. I enjoyed each item. Very flavorful. We went on a Friday night so it was very lively. Lots of people and loud music. They also have hookah. Very chill and lounge vibes to get all your needs in one spot. This was perfect because we were celebrating a birthday. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I'll be back (with a bigger appetite) to try more food items here!

I recently stopped by Susheria in DC and sat at the bar. The atmosphere was upbeat, and the playlist added a great energy to the space. Their cocktails were definitely a highlight--creative, well-balanced, and genuinely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the quality of the drinks. Even while sitting at the bar, it was difficult to get consistent attention, and the staff seemed a bit disengaged. It didn't ruin the experience, but it did take away from what could've been an excellent visit. Overall, Susheria has a fun vibe and really solid cocktails, but the service has room for improvement. With a little more attentiveness behind the bar, this place could easily become a favorite.

Celebrated my mom's birthday here last night and it was such a vibe! If you like sushi you'll like this place but if you aren't a sushi lover they don't have a lot on the menu that you would be able to order I had ceviche which was amazing, spicy edamame which was VERY spicy, a roll with ahi tuna tossed in a teriyaki sauce which I loved and a lemon drop with tequila I enjoyed myself but I probably would only come back for a special occasion

Easiest 5star review ever. This is a great sushi place walking distance from the Watergate Hotel. All of the food was delicious. The Sebastian was the best, followed by the Georgetown then the dragon roll. The white tuna nigiri was the best nigiri I have ever had. We also had a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. Our waitress was super nice and very sweet. We did get there during happy hour so it was busy. They had some great deals for those sitting at the bar. We loved the inside. The lighting was good, and the music was great. The music was lofi bpm, if you're familiar.

TENS ACROSS THE BOARDDDDDD! From the moment we arrived, the bartenders were attentive and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They helped us choose some fantastic cocktails, including the Pisco Sour, which was refreshingly delicious, and the Lit Chi Martini, which was delightful of course. But the real highlight was the Amazonico Roll. Every ingredient in that roll was perfect, and it's definitely something I keep thinking about. Kisses to the chef for that one! We also got the calamari which was cool as well, not bad. The ambiance was also really chill, especially during happy hour. Despite the heavy rain that day, the place gradually filled up and the vibe was fantastic. The music was cool, and they even offer hookah. Overall, this is a super cute spot, even though you can miss it because it's tucked but I'll definitely be coming back to explore more of their menu!

Diversity is a must in our eating options !!! Love it !!

If you're looking for a cozy, intimate spot, where you can enjoy a great atmosphere in the shadows of Georgetown.... Then "Sushería" fits the bill perfectly. The service is on point while keeping their distance. The crispy shrimp tempura was actually a delicious dish that gave my taste buds a new flavor to ponder. And their drinks complemented the mood in every way. And if you're a hookah lover, you'll definitely enjoy good vibes the entire time !!!

Always pass by this place on my way to the movies next door and was curious. Made a reservation and was actually laughing at how dark it is inside. I'm talkin' ONLY a tea light lit at each table dark dark. Service got a little weird after my friend and I didn't order drinks, but our sushi was really fresh, flavorful, and YUMMY! We also were sat next to the DJ booth (like right next to- we could shake hands if we wanted) and losing 2 of our 5 senses was just too many for us. If you're up for a weird story, come on a Friday night and ask to sit next to the DJ lol. 4 stars for food but not service or atmosphere.

We had reservations for a late lunch or early dinner. We were greeted and seated promptly upon our arrival. Although we arrived during Happy Hour, we discovered that the special pricing is only available at the bar. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, with attractive decor and background music. The wait for the waitress to take our orders was brief. As we requested, she brought bottled water to the table. Since we had drinks planned elsewhere, we didn't order additional beverages. We chose the Volcano rolls and California rolls, both of which were good options. The Volcano rolls were flavorful, while the California rolls were decent, representing typical sushi. The sushi was fresh, but we felt the prices were a bit overpriced for single sushi rolls; it seems you pay for the location, as the sushi was relatively basic.

A friend and I came here after work for happy hour and truly wasn't disappointed. Happy hour is only available at the bar and with limited seating, I would suggest getting there a bit early. The two bartenders, one being Nassin, were attentive and provided great service. We ordered a few rolls from the happy hour menu and drinks and everything was delicious! I would definitely come back to try their full menu but also really enjoy their happy hour offerings.

I really loved the sushi and vibe here but the saturday night music withthe DJ, possibly fridays too - lol you do have to shout across the table. So beware. There's also hookah available at tables. Its like sushi in the VIP of a club - but make it upscale. The churrasco in the carne and churrasco roll was so delicious but the chimichurri could do with some acid, idk more flavour. I loved my tenno roll as well! My friend had the margarita and was really impressed with the flavour. So drinks are great because my lychee drink did not miss either! Service was quite busy and a little hard to find at times due to the super dim lighting and loud music. I only wish they gave you actual glasses and not japanese sake size cups for the water. It was self pour but having to refill every 3 gulps, my hand was getting tired.

Susheria in Georgetown is such a vibe -- especially on R&B Night. It's tucked underneath the bridge next to the movie theater, so it already feels like a hidden gem. The décor is beautiful: marble counters, gold chandeliers, and dark moody lighting that instantly sets the tone. It was girls night, so we started with hookah blueberry mint hookah (smooth and long-lasting), and for food I tried the Calamar Frito, Lemongrass Chicken, the Amazonico Roll, and the Churrasco Roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and plated beautifully. The rolls were definitely the stars -- I'd order both again. Last but not least, their Litchi cocktail, which is Susheria's twist of a lychee martini, IS TO DIE FOR. Girls do yourself a favor and sub the vodka for tequila. The music, ambiance, and overall experience were perfect for date night or girls' night. Definitely adding this to my "DC spots to revisit" list.

We arrived for Soul Wednesdays and the DJ was fantastic. The mixes were done right and the song choices were a great combination of new and throwback songs. The talented saxophonist kept the vibe lively and was a fun addition to the crowd. At the time of my arrival there was security at the door that required a copy of the reservation and ID. Hamza was our server - very attentive. The servers do a lot of multitasking and seem to have a good flow even for a busy evening. Be careful with what you see on their website - my friend was excited for their half priced bottle wines (we were there for a girls night) and they did not honor what was on the site. There are also a few items listed that they no longer serve. When you come, plan to have backup options. Food - The edemame could use a bit more salt. The seaweed salad was tasty. My friend had the miso soup and she said it was good but it didn't stand out. The shrimp gyoza would've been enjoyed more if they were pan-seared longer. We had various rolls. The Mate was delicious, my favorite from what I tried. The Churrasco had so much potato fries inside, we all agreed that it was too much carb but the ribeye was cooked well and had a nice flavor. The orders of nigiri were tasty. Overall a decent spot, the entertainment was on point. I would come back. Hookah is offered - $76 after tax. Parking is the usual for that area - you either luck up with street parking or find a garage and walk a block.

Great place to catch a drink. Nassim was our bartender. We had the Limo y Lima. It was DELICIOUS!!! Perfect location. Near the movie theater in Georgetown. Highly recommend it. Great service and great tasting beverage. Good ambiance.

The timing of our visit also worked out perfectly, as it was still Restaurant Week. I started off with the Tamarindo Margarita, which was a great start. The drink was not too sweet with the perfect mix of tamarind. For my appetizer, I then had the Empanadas de Wagu, which was absolutely delicious. The flavors in this dish were everything. My only critique was that my empanadas weren't brought out hot, they were actually lukewarm. Despite the temperature, these empanadas were bussin! For my main course, I had the Seafood Enchiladas. The pairing of all the flavors, spices, sauces, and meat was perfect, offering a unique, delectable taste that I look forward to having again the next time I visit. For my dessert, I had the Creamy Corn Cake which I thoroughly enjoyed. The service was good, though it started off giving the impression that it may be a little rocky, which turned out not to be the case. The ambiance of dLena was cute with intimate vibes. Overall, we had a great experience and I will definitely be back.

The food was average at best and significantly overpriced for the quality. We paid $30 each for ají de gallina and arroz con pollo--both dishes lacked depth and were nowhere near worth that price point. The ceviche ($27) was bland and underwhelming, missing the brightness and flavor you expect from a staple like this. Even the chicha morada felt like a stretch at an extra $10. The issues weren't limited to Peruvian dishes. The kafta sandwich was dry and completely lacking flavor, and a simple salad my wife ordered came with poorly seasoned dressing. Overall, the kitchen seemed to miss the mark on both sides of the fusion concept. To make matters worse, two classic Peruvian dishes--anticuchos and jalea mixta--were unavailable. The explanation given was that they had run out after Saturday night service, which is hard to justify when we visited at 1:30 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant was nearly empty at that time, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign. All in, we spent $225 for a family of four including tip, which is more than double what the experience was worth. I would rate this place 2 out of 5 stars and would not return.

When she first said the name, I actually thought it was a some short of shopping plaza and never would have associated it as a Mexican restaurant. I'm not sure it's history, but seems like a staple in the neighborhood as every time I drive by since that conversation with her, I notice how packed and busy it is. I recommended to my friends who were in town that we check it out and we were able to get seated outside relatively quickly for a Saturday evening. Our table started with their drinks. Half of us got the pina colada and the other half had the margarita swirl. I'd say the pina coloda was pretty good; not too strong and the ones who ordered the margarita seemed to enjoy it. We all had eaten before arriving, so we didn't order too much. They also served complimentary tortilla chips with salsa so that was pretty good and gave us something to nibble on. I ended up getting the shrimp tacos and their tortilla soup. The shrimp tacos were good, but the tortilla soup was the highlight for me. It was very flavorful, and full of vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, and corn. It also had shredded chicken and cheese in it, and was so delicious. I would definitely order it again. Our server was also very friendly and regularly checked in on us. The reason for one star off is just due to the cleanliness of the cups and plates on our table. I noticed food residue still on it, and although I personally didn't use the cup or plate, I didn't care to see it on the table.

Again I must preface by saying I didn't dine here or experience the place. I was invited to a dinner here that I couldn't attend, and as a birthday surprise I wanted to send that table a bottle of champagne. I intended to order a Dom Perignon (for which they charge ~$400 per bottle). But the staff was on amateur hour -- instead of taking my order, they altered the reservation, then alerted the birthday person who made the reservation (ruining any potential for a nice surprise gift), and said they would have to cancel the original reservation because the number of people changed. Birthday person had to call them and me to smooth it all over. Then, another person called me to get my email address to send me a PDF to fill out (which I had to then send them on WhatsApp) for my order - a comically silly added bureaucratic/administrative load. Just take the credit card over the phone on the first call/request, like 99% of businesses around the world. This place takes 3-4 steps just to order something... This person had absolutely zero idea that I made the request as a surprise, so it suggests there is pretty poor coordination and communication amongst staff. I'm sure people come here regularly and have great meals and great times. But at their prices, wine/champagne mark-ups, and promise of an 'elevated' experience -- staff need to get their act together.

I came for my birthday with friends. Our reservation was at 8:00. I arrived a few minutes early and was greeted and given water, but after the rest of my party arrived, no server returned to our table for another 20-30 minutes. It was then another significant wait before anyone came to take our drink orders. Throughout the dinner, it was also surprisingly difficult to get a server's attention, and I had to try to flag someone down several times just to have my water refilled. The explanations accompanying the courses were also often difficult to understand, which another person in my party commented on as well. Since the storytelling and explanation of each dish are such a major part of this type of tasting-menu experience, I wish the presentations had been delivered more clearly. I also paid an additional $50 for the Birthday Experience and would not recommend it. It included an edible candle and a birthday cocktail. I had already told the staff that I don't drink alcohol and had ordered a mocktail during dinner, but they still brought me an alcoholic birthday cocktail. After I reminded them, they replaced it with a mocktail, but unfortunately it tasted very medicinal and I didn't enjoy it. For a paid birthday add-on, I expected considerably more attention to that detail. The atmosphere was another disappointment. The dining room was very quiet and fairly empty during our meal, so it didn't have the special-occasion energy I was hoping for on my birthday. The positive is that the food itself was good, creative, and enjoyable, and there were definitely memorable parts of the experience. I'm glad I tried Elcielo once, but considering the price and the level of service I experienced, I wouldn't return.
