Pancit, menudo, and afritada
Mycla S.

This is one of the best Filipino restaurants around. You're always in and out, even if there is a line, the food is delicious and they provide great portion sizes. It is small, but they do also have a dining area where you can sit down. The only con is they do not label the dishes, so you have to ask if you are not familiar with a dish, but the staff are always friendly.

This Filipino restaurant wasn't quite what I expected. My coworkers and I were craving Filipino food after work, so we drove to the nearest spot from Newport News and ended up here. It was pretty busy since it was a Saturday evening, but we were able to pick out our dishes. The pancit was plentiful and delicious. We also ordered caldereta, pork adobo, pork with peas, and egg rolls, though the egg rolls were a bit dry. For dessert, we had turon and saipain, which were both amazing. After our meal, we were invited to join in some karaoke, which made the night even more fun.

Great vibe here.

Well. Went here because we wanted some Filipino food. Met with family. The lumpia was good. The pancit was great. The Tocino was fantastic. Everyone was so nice. The only thing I didn't like was the adobo. It had a good flavor but the chicken bones were out of control and trying to kill me. The bathroom floor was also very wet. People were so nice and karaoke began. Very very affordable. I would definitely get food from here again.

I ordered diniguan, menudo, two fried bangus, and a slice of royal bibingka. I'm particular about other people's Filipino cooking, but I must say that the diniguan and menudo tasted like my grandma's cooking. However, the fried bangus was a bit overcooked, and the royal bibingka cake was dry, almost like chewing rubber. The service was okay, but I felt a bit rushed through the line, hence I did not get any photo shot of the food. I saw two dining areas, but the ambiance was very basic without any distinguishing features. Overall, I enjoyed my experience! I would like to come back and try the rest of the menu.

I went to Susan's Kitchenette for a surprise 50th birthday party. Our party was in one of the banquet rooms and the room itself was a decent size where you can easily fit 100 guests with a dance floor. And as a guest, I sat very comfortably at one of the tables. The staff was very attentive throughout the night taking out trash, picking up empty plates, making sure the food trays were not empty. There were a lot of food options available and they were all very delicious!

The food is too good to be true and the only thing better than the food is the hospitality. The atmosphere comes across as a friend's home and not a restaurant. When regulars welcome you like you've been there before you know it's good. The pancit was extraordinary and the lumpia was so good I ordered 10 to go. And if you're a karaoke beast be prepared to battle. People were so good when I first walked in I thought it was the radio. I have never been to the Philippines, but I have many Filipino friends and Suzanne's is just as good as their mom's.

Although I lived in Red Mill for over a decade, I was never able to visit the original location in that shopping center, so this was a first for us. We came in on a Friday night and easily parked in the attached garage (QR code ease for parking). Wow started with the chicken empanadas and boy, were they yummy. Soooo hot and fresh, you could tell they were made to order (it took a minute to get them). So worth the wait! We devoured them and the breading was heavenly. I chose the Chicken Pancit Bihon (rice noodles) for my entree and my husband went with the Sizzling Sisig (minced pork and onion). Both were hot and fresh but my husband's dish was to DIE for! Sooooo good, I am for sure going to order it next time. The seasoning was perfect, hot and delicious. Yum! We had plans to take our daughter out for dessert for her birthday or I would've absolutely been trying one of those Ube shakes... noms! Next time! Owners were walking around offering tasting of items and were checking in often to make sure all was going smoothly. He gave us a sample of the Calmansi Slushee and it was heaven! Soooo refreshing on a summer day, I can see stopping in during a bike ride to cool off with one of those babies. Beautiful patio outside with tons of covered seats and a pick-up window for easy pick-up right in front was nice. Love this location in Atlantic Park and what it brings to the oceanfront area... excited this new spot is here!

I tried out the caldereta and the mechado (?). I liked both items but I found it too oily for my liking. The vegetables were stewed perfectly and the meat texture were nice and tender. I think had I visited earlier in the day, it may have had a less oily texture to it. The accompanying soup was super sour but acted as a perfect palate cleanser after the oily meals. The service was excellent-- friendly, patient, and helpful. You can pick and choose different entrees over rice or pancit. Similar to getting food from Panda Express. The inside of the restaurant has several family friendly seatings available and baked goods and market also. Lastly, parking is free and plentiful right across from the front entrance. If an out of area Filipino asked for a good place to eat, I wouldn't hesitate recommending them. I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting again in the future.

After Sophia and I ate lunch at nearby GuangDong Taste, we had to stop by to see what items they had in stock. Let's see how the visit went. They hardly had any customers inside so it was quicky and easy. They greeted us once we walked in and we immediately looked at what they had available. Staff was busy in the back with a few behind the counter. Sounds like a normal day here which is great. I actually had a few choices but decided to order some turon, which is a crispy banana fritter. I had it at a restaurant years ago and actually enjoyed. I actually didn't eat it until later where it lost its crispiness after being warmed up, but nonetheless it was delicious. Just enough banana inside and not too sweet from the brown sugar. Exactly the right amount for evening dessert. Great staff and great vibes all around here every time we come by. It was tough and had a lot of tough fat on it. I couldn't eat it. I'd go back for the lumpia and rice though.
