Maymar has been on Princess Anne forever!!!! It's one of those places that you have to remind yourself about, but then when you eat there food.....ask yourself why are they buried in the back of my mind when they should be in the front at all times!!!!! If I had a eat out budget everyday this would be my Monday and Thursday spot!!! Do they have anything that taste bad....ummmm no!!!! The food is already fresh hot and waiting for you to tell the little lady what you want in your tray! Right now the sweet chili wings are my fav!!!! They are cccrrraaaacckkkkkkk!!!!!!!

This place is such a GEM! Small and quaint, there are a few tables if you want to dine in but most of the lunch crowd grabs their food togo. Don't let the line deter you the staff moves pretty fast serving everyone! The SMALL Pancit is small only in name and was packed to the brim. Plenty of flavor and they make sure you get a good mix of veggie and chunks of meat as well. The wings had a glorious sauce similar to sweet chili but not as much heat. Lumpia we're filled nicely and crisp and the longanisa had a great slightly sweet glaze on the outside and was juicy with an amazing flavor as well. Do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch!

Filipinos make some damn good comfort food. And as it's been another rough day, comfort food is what I need. I'm like Kung Fu Panda, I eat when I get stressed...and when I'm happy... and well, just because. I'm a foodie, don't judge! Today I really wanted Tocino, something sweet and savory, especially since I don't really eat meat anymore. But alas, my craving was not able to be satisfied as they did not have any today. They did, however, have a large assortment of fish, lumpia, loganisa, sinigang... for $5.25, you get a heaping two item entree. Lumpia is only sixty cents a piece. For less than $40, I got two combos, a dozen lumpia and four loganisa. And since my eyes are almost always bigger than my stomach, I barely even had a third of my combo before getting too full. So glad this place is here!

Daughter requested Lumpia and Pancit for bday. At recommendation of a friend, we called at 10a for 2p same day pickup; packed and ready at the promised time. "Small" order pancit ($20) fed 5 people, many of whom got third helpings, for $30 incl lumpia ($0.60 ea), plus leftovers for 2 lunch portions. On bday, food was hot, flavorful, and everything we hoped it would be. Remember they close at 3p sharp, so get there before the door closes. Just order and know you're getting the same fantastic Filipino food your friend's Mom/Dad use to make growing up. You didn't have that friend? Call Maymar and you will now.

Family owned restaurant. Good people and good food. My favorite is the Chicken Adobo. It's tender, moist, and well seasoned.

    Lumpia and Pancit

Not too happy with how burnt my Lumpia is. The Pancit was ok but not a lot of flavor.

If you're in the Norfolk area and want some real-deal Filipino food, this is where you have to get it! Yeah it's in a shady area, parking is a little awkward, but once you come inside, you're greeted with the same friendly, welcoming hospitality just like you would at your auntie's house. Traditional "what you see is what you get" when it comes to choosing your meal. I love their picadillo, adobo and lumpia! You can also ask for a side of sinigang sabaw (tamarind soup) which is complimentary. Run out of rice? No problem, they'll hand that out to you too. Now just a heads up- if you're going there for lunch, best bet is to do take-out, they get very busy! The place is really tiny with maybe 4 tables, and a small counter against the kitchen window lined up with chairs.

I can wholeheartedly say Maymar is Top 3 places to eat in Norfolk. Everything about this intimate filipino restaurant will have you begging them to extend their hours. From the moment you walk through the doors you are greeted as if you are family. Get there early or they may be out of your favorites but one thing is for sure.... get there often! Tip: the beef Nilaga Soup is earth shattering experience! Update: MayMar did a little remodeling several months back. ( see updated pics) even more great food selections.

This place is clean! The staffs are friendly, and the food is DELICIOUS! We came here thinking if it's not clean we would leave right away. The first impression is definitely exceeded our expectation. We ordered the lunch special and get to tried many different dishes. We love it! Definitely will recommend to our friends!

Everything I've had here is delicious, but here are some of my favorites: UBE BLONDIES *** Probably one of their most signature items that stays on the menu season to season, this crumbly, satisfyingly dense, soft baked good with that nice punch of ube flavor will really have you coming back for more. The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.

Instead it was a Filipino bodega with a few aisles of grocery products, a cooler with frozen food flanking one side, a window at the back to order hot foods & a table at the front for sitting or eating. With respect to bakery goods, there was one almost empty stand at the front of an aisle with a few bags of Pan de Coco. I had called the night before & asked about Ube Purple Bread. She said that she was baking more the following day & would save a bag for me. What they brought out was a bag of 6 rolls with an Ube filling inside. It was tasty but not purple bread. My friend asked about Pandesal. They brought a bag from the back that were larger rolls. She should have asked for Ube Pandesal. These were tasty & soft. But they had no Ube filling inside & were more like a large dinner roll. It would have been nice to see what we were buying before the purchase. Asking if they had a menu, I was told that they eventually would. She was still trying to decide what to put on the menu. I'm not sure I'll return until choices are available. And please, give us a display of the baked goods. Even putting them bagged in the almost empty display stand would help. The store is in a shopping center on the west side of E. Little Creek Road. It is easily accessible for those of us who live in the Shore Drive corridor. The outside is tasteful & well maintained. The inside is definitely a bodega feel.

They didn't have a menu posted, so I was given one when I asked. The food is cafeteria style where your plate is made in front of you. I chose menudo, pancit, pork belly, and lumpia with a side of sauce for about $15. The prices seemed pretty reasonable. The portions were decent also. The menudo was flavorful and filling the meat was tender but there were a few pieces with fat. The pancit was tasty. It wasn't heavy on vegetables, I wish there were more. The pork belly was crispy and I liked it, but a few pieces were over cooked and had an awkward burnt old flavor. I can't really explain it. But the taste caught me off guard. I enjoyed the lumpia. They had beef inside and went good with the sauce. Their sweet chili sauce is yellow, not like most that are orangeish red. But it was good. The staff was busy. This place offers a "turo-turo" experience, like what you would do at places like Panda Express, Moe's, Chipotle, where the entree items/Poke ingredients are already laid out for you and you just have to point ("turo" in Tagalog) at what you want on your plate. Even if you don't know the name of the dish, the staff is very helpful. The nice thing is you don't have to wait for your food to cook! I don't know if this place keeps the same menu everyday, but usually in places like these, the menu changes, so what was offered the day you visited might be different from the next! :) They also offer a unique variety of asian brand drinks on their fridge that you can just grab and pay for on the counter. Overall, our meal + drinks were a cheap price! Everyone in there was incredibly friendly. And the food was good! We had the adobo and the longganisa and it was delicious. Filipino food highly varies in flavor based on who cooks it since most households have their own flare and twist on cooking certain dishes.
