Small place with a few tables offering , buffet dishes or takeout. Lunch special of pandit and lumpia was authentic and taste good, and affordable too. Will return. read more

One word, exceptional. Ordering process online was super easy and streamlined, and when I showed up to pick up my order it was fresh and ready to go. Speaking of that, the moment I walked in, I received the most friendly welcome/greeting, so top notch there. Oh, and the most important part, the food is legit! All of it was good, but I really want to highlight the lumpia; super fresh and absolutely perfect. 10/10 I will be back. read more

They must have changed cooks because lately the food has not been good at all. The food looks old like it's been sitting out for a while and for me the food is bland. I used to love this place but I could never finish my food because no matter what I got, it just didn't do it for me and I wasted money. The veggie lumpia is thick but they use more potatoes or whatever it is than veggies. The pancit lacks flavor. The pinakbet vegetables be mushy and that too is tasteless. And why is the rice mushy?! I can go on but you get my drift. They stay busy, so they have their customer base that does like their food, so good for them. read more

Always quick and amazing service. Location is clean and the food is just as good. Two restrooms, 6 tables with chairs or benches. They offer military discount. I got 3 buililit meals, each $7.99 and a 12 count of beef lumpia $12. The sweet chili sauce is extra but not positive on that cost. They offer catering as well. Adobo chicken and white rice with sauce over it is my go-to here. The flavor is always packing a punch. 10/10 read more

Hot, fresh and authentic! This little shop is cute with a few tables but I ordered to go. There was a line which I took as a good sign as others who were also interested in the food. When I got up to the counter, it was greeted immediately and was asked what I wanted so I ordered a the Tito Pogi (vegetable pancit and lumpia). They had to cook the beef lumpia, so I ordered paid and ran next-door to the bakery. When I came back, everything was ready for pick up. It was so good. I ate all the lumpia by myself, no sharing here. I wish I had a sweet salsa dip in and they may have had some. I just didn't pick any up. The pants it was really good. I ate half the portion by myself and I'm saving the rest for later. They do have some funky hours, but just check them out before you head over but I do recommend. read more

Maymar is my go to spot when it comes to food for a party. I have potlucks at work monthly and I always bring lumpias. The lumpia here is the best ! Crispy , flavorful, and tasty! They are definitely a crowd pleaser. The staff and owner are amazing! Personable and friendly. I always know walking in I'm going to be treated like family. Parking is ample, location is great in a shopping center off of Battlefield in Chesapeake. Place is clean and organized. Love this place! read more

Cleaner than the Maymar Norfolk location but less seating than the Maymar Pleasant Valley Road location. Service was good, the staff was friendly. I ordered pancit and bistek. The pancit was salty and the bistek was two sour and salty. They were almost inedible. For $11 I could get better tasting pancit (and better portion and price) at Gl***'s Bakery. All of us pinoys should know what am referring to. read more

I absolutely love their lumpia! Very crunchy and comes out hot, served with some of the sweet chili sauce....it is delicious. I've tried both beef and veggie, but I prefer the veggie, just a better taste to me. They also have a decent drink selection available! The gentleman working yesterday, 3/23, also had the most amazing customer service. He was friendly, courteous, and helpful! I do wish they had more inside seating and they can sometimes sell out of lumpia early on, which can be disappointing. However, I truly do enjoy the food! read more

We stopped in for Filipino food on a recommendation and were not impressed. We ordered pancit and lechon. It was served in a take out container, which always seems on-the-cheap to me but it's a choice. The lechon had a good initial flavor but quickly turned to a very greasy mouth-feel and tasted overdone. The pancit tasted like it had simply been boiled in bouillon. We've made better and certainly tasted better at other restaurants. The lumpia we ordered was made to order and was very good, fresh, and hot. Bravo! We specifically went to Maymar for the turon, which they were not serving on a Saturday. (insert puzzled shrug here.) None of their other desserts were available either. Restrooms are clean. Parking is easy (strip mall) but watch the closing time if you're going. read more

Comforting Filipino food served up piping hot. This little hidden gem serves up some of the best Filipino food in the area. I put in a large order of food and it was ready within minutes. The pancit was delicious and the staff was really friendly. read more

I'm Filipino and we just moved from Hawaii so I was excited that my husband found a Filipino restaurant. Unfortunately what I wanted, they didn't have or it was served for another day. I ended up with my 3rd choice (bistec) which was okay. I definitely had better and can make better! I wanted pinakbet for my 2nd entree because I wanted lots of veggies. Again, they didn't have it so my husband got me some other veggies which were way too soft and overcooked. I guess I'm still on a look out for some good Filipino food. read more

This place is normally a decent place to get your Filipino food fix, but I just can't get over certain items that have a $3 upcharge on top of the $6.99 (6oz) soup cost because of a certain meat in it. So, $10 for a (6oz) soup with barely any meat in it anyway because they're trying to stretch it for more servings....... sad. Plus, its hit and miss with other items, either overcooked, too salty or dried out. I prefer to go to the Filipino Restaurant in Va Beach off Diamond Springs and Northampton, (Hint). They will receive all my busy from here on out! read more

Maymar Filipino Restaurant - Menudo, lumpia, pancit - Filipino Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

When I came there were a couple people in line. Not a huge area for a lot of people to wait due to blocking the door and constant flow of customers in and out. I witnessed them stating lumpia are made to order cool I get that, but it took them well over 10mins to bring out my chicken pancit and I got the lumpia first. The food was delicious as per usual but when it comes to wait time there is a need for improvement especially when others who ordered after I did received their pandit before me. Price is great for the quantity and authentic taste of the food. Absolutely no gripes in that department. I decided to dine in today since was just me. Not too noisy and easy listening music. They've remodeled over the years seating arrangement wise and I do like it. It opens up the space and allows for great conversations with neighboring tables/guests. I do recommend this restaurant because over the years the food has remained delicious and you will come back. read more

Stopped in today for the first time. Food was fresh, hot and delish. The staff was extremely nice. I noticed repeat customers coming in who were greeted by name. Great vibes. My picky toddler even loved the lumpia and pancit. We will definitely be returning read more

Lumpia is not flavorful, but pork adobo and lechon are decent. Lechon is crispy and is not very greasy. Serving is good. Pork adobo has enough sauce and meat, a small container lasted me two days. read more

Food are fresh , presentable , and the service were very pleasant. Thank you ladies ! See you soon .

It is small but the staff are SUPER friendly . Totally loved the service, fast and friendly. I loved the cozy pillows. This place has such potential for 5 star even with it being so small. I was not wild over the lumpia. It was gooey inside. They looked great and had wonderful crunch on the outside but I did not like the inside. We tried both the beef and the veggie. I got Pancit. It was Ok. The noodles were a bit over cooked. I always like getting something I have never had before so I got Tocino. It is pork shoulder fried really crispy. Not much flavor. So next time I will get something different. They have a pretty good selection of canned drinks. I am hoping to return at a later date and hopefully pop my stars up read more

I've been waiting to try this place. Filipino food has a special place in my heart. The food is great. A nice selection that is fresh. The ambiance is to be desired. It's a take out style place, not really suited for sit down. No alcohol, and only bottled beverages. The restaurant is clean but cluttered. It's been around since 2005 so they have repeat business. A good meal but not a good eating experience. read more

Cute little place in a large strip mall. There are eat in tables. The food is served like a turo turo- select options like a buffet. They have a large menu. There's also online ordering on their website. I ordered a halo halo. It was so delicious and made fresh for me. The ube ice cream topped the large dessert. For take out I got a side order of their Pancit bihon. It was so delicious. Remember this is a "base" but I ordered it as a main dish. Very authentic with the perfect flavoring. They also sell Shanghai lumpia and I asked them if o could get them raw. I wanted to fry them at home. I will definitely come back to try their protein dishes. This was the end of the night and it was all so good. read more

This one and the one in Norfolk are completely different in a few ways. This one looks better aesthetically. Nice table and the chalk wall with the signatures of employees and customers looks nice. I was disappointed that this one didn't offer the sticky chili wings as the one in Norfolk. As far as food, the food is good. I really like the containers that they put your food in to go. read more

Maymar Filipino Restaurant - Two Meat combo with two lumpias - Filipino Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

For a long time I had wanted to come here due to the great reviews. For some reason I kept putting it off. But a while back, I decided on a whim to go. And boy, am I glad I did! I come here (a little too) frequently, but it's just so good! I always feel like a stumbling idiot when there's a "process" to ordering. The choices can be a little overwhelming, but it's actually not that difficult. You choose a base (veggie pancit, garlic rice, white rice, brown rice, veggies) and then an option of 1-3 entrees. The entrees are what's in front of you at the ordering counter... if there's a cover on, they're out of it. The first time, I chose pancit (because I didn't realize there was a rice option, lol) and 2 entrees (Tango combo). I chose longaniza and sisig. I also ordered one beef and one veggie lumpia. Ask for "with all the toppings" if you want the free chopped scallions, pickled sliced cucumbers, diced tomatoes, and lime wedges on your entree! The lumpia (90¢ each) are fried fresh so they ask for your name to give to you when ready. Make sure to ask for the sweet chili sauce, but be aware they charge 65¢ for it. (I like to take it home because I have frozen spring rolls that I don't have a sauce for). Since my first visit, i have opted for garlic rice as my base, after hearing someone order it. So delicious! I have returned for their lechon kawali (fried pork belly, like chicharrone) , menudo, kare kare, chicken adobe, toncino, and sinigang. My favorites are the lechon kawali and the delicious sinigang stew which has a nice sour tang and delicious pork in it. Some dishes are available only on certain days, so make sure to check if you're looking for one thing in particular. Lechon is popular so if you arrive later in the afternoon, or even for a "late lunch", it's possible it won't be available. They have a variety of different other sauces/vinegar to complement the entrees if you wish, at the payment counter (they recommend the "Mang tomas " sauce for the lechon kawali; I like to mix it with some spicy vinegar), and you pick up packaged utensils below the sauces shelf. They have a mix of canned drinks (soda, coconut juice, etc) and a water cooler if you want water. Workers are super helpful and sweet! I highly recommend starting with the Tango combo with whichever base you like, and choose the 2 entrees that look good to you at the counter. They are labeled on the counter window, so that's helpful. Make sure to ask for all the toppings. Oh and PS: get a frequent punch card on the counter! Buy 9 combos and get the 10th free! If you eat as often as I do there, it's a big bonus! PS: $17 lunch with 15% tip for all the food in one of these pics! (I say it in the photo caption) great lunch deal! read more

Very disappointing where they say lechon is available on mondays and its only 4pm where they close at 5:30 pm. They say that lechon is out and they can not make it anymore. What a let down and people that work are just lazy read more

Today, 3/28/2025, I had the worse lumpia ever. They tasted nasty. They had to have been fried in very old oil. Beef lumpia tasted kind of fishy and they were very thick. I won't ever go back, nor will I recommend it to others. read more

I got garlic rice with sisig and pickled cucumber, halo halo, and turon. The halo halo was pretty mild. It would be a nice treat on a hot day. The turon was fantastic, crunchy and sweet. But the highlight was the garlic rice with sisig. The rice was flavorful and fluffy. The sisig was sweet and spicy with a nice chew. Truly amazing! This was the best thing I've had while in Chesapeake. I thoroughly recommend if you like spicy! read more

Food not cooked by Filipino, lumpia tasted like was bought at grocery store. Food was tasteless.

Cool little spot in Chesapeake. Friendly service and very tasty food. For those who have a taste for Filipino food, this is a good choice.

Whenever I'm feeling under the weather....sick....etc. I like to order my comfort food- sinigang. Sinigang is a filipino soup that is savory and sour. Tamarind based. So back to the "sick" part. I had my 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccination the other day. And you've heard how you're just miserable the next day? Well....that's what happened to me. So to pick me up...I knew exactly where to go! They have one of the best sinigangs in the 757. I usually order with garlic rice and make sure you ask for turon. Turon is a fried plantain wrapped in a spring roll wrap that is slightly sweetened with brown sugar! They have a good parking area. Plenty of room. Now the inside is pretty small so I would recommend to order pick up/togo. They have hand sanitizer available and touchless pay. read more

MayMar Filipino Restaurant is a small place tucked away in a strip of stores in Knell's Ridge Shoppes at the intersection of Battlefield Boulevard and Knell's Ridge Drive in Chesapeake. The common parking lot is in good repair and well maintained. The lot is of ample size to support the businesses in the shopping center. The location is not very visible from Battlefield Boulevard as it sits off the road a bit behind Well's Fargo Bank, Arby's, Mack's Grill and Celtic Tiger. To access Knell's Ridge Shoppes you may turn east from Battlefield onto Knell's Ridge Drive or use the cut-through between Arby's and Mack's. To be honest, I haven't tried a lot of the menu at MayMar. I generally stop in for an order of pancit, lumpia or turón. They are all really delicious. The turón (basically, sweet and crispy banana lumpia rolls) is definitely a favorite and never fails to satisfy my sweet tooth. My wife will sometimes get a craving for turón and send me to Maymar to pick up half a dozen or so of these deep-fried delights. Like many other business, MayMar has recently increased menu prices but they remain very reasonable. Service is always friendly and efficient. If you love turón you need to try it here. read more

We are new in this area and so happy to find a Filipino Restaurant that serves great food and nice ambiance. First of, the foods here taste so authentic and at around 6pm the lechon kawali was still so crispy. We tried the beef Shanghai and it was so good. The Tocino and longganisa were sweet and savory. The dinuguan or chocolate meat was also to our liking. Will definitely come back again to try the other variants. Service was hospitable and the place was cozy. read more

Maymar Filipino Restaurant - Lechon kawali and beef steak with rice and Pancit as base - Filipino Near Me - Chesapeake, Virginia

I've been to Maymar Chesapeake before around lunch. This is the first time I've been here around dinner time. You can tell the restaurant is about to close. Their food doesn't look good. The chicken bicol express is spicy, but it is bland. It is missing the bicol express flavor, maybe because I fot chicken instead of pork. The sinigang doesn't taste like your usual tamarind soup. It is not sour and doesn't taste good. Even though it is free, I don't think I will ever ask for it anymore. If I remember correctly, their fried fish is made to order. With that in mind, I thinks that is the best thing about this place. For $4 (including tax), their price is affordable. I also like that the taxes are included in the prices. The staff were nice and helpful. Since I grew up eating Filipino food, this place is something I will be skipping. The flavors I grew up with is missing. People can still enjoy this place as long as you are not as picky as me when it comes to Filipino foods. read more

Maymar is one of my favorite hidden gems!!! Incredible Filipino food. The prices are very affordable and the portions are generous. My favorites are the pancit, lumpia, and picadillo! Soooo, first thing's first this restaurant customer service? TOP TIER!! The aroma when you walk into the restaurant is magnificent (is this the baby talking?). The kind gentleman, (I think he's the owner?), that was taking orders today, (5/18/21), gave my mom a face mask without questioning anything about it or charging her. Little did he know, I was next door about to get an ultrasound done and I was surprising my mom with said ultrasound. If it wasn't for him, she would've missed a wonderful experience with her first grandchild. We decided to get some dinner afterwards and thank him for his small, yet major gesture. I'm currently eating my pancit & chicken meal along with my pork sinigang. Baby & I are more than happy with our food, and nana is currently eating her vegetarian pancit. She is very happy as well lol! Great price for a great dinner and service. Once again thank you for the kindness you showed my family today. We will be back! read more
