Wish I didn't have to write a review like this BUT When a place that serves Filipino food doesn't have the basic offerings like turon (fried bananas), you'd wonder why on a Saturday there's not a soul in this place. You'd have to ring a bell for someone to come out from the kitchen. Oh and not to mention where is the so-called Filipino hospitality? Aking mga kababayan? I am appalled by the fact that when they couldn't serve food that we wanted, the worker there chased after us when we left (ay naku!) and yelled "I tell you this - do not come and use our restroom)" there weren't signs anywhere... no wonder this restaurant is up for sale. In this world where anyone can choose to go to any place, you'd think that some hospitality is needed. Who knows having people come for any reason might actually result in some patronage. read more

I'm updating my review from few years ago during my first few visits and glad I can bring the stars up. The food is really good and the choice of selection, though small compared to other "turo turo" spots, it's still something you can choose from. I can get a little here and there from the owner about the food since she's a women of few words Hahaa LOL! But she does care about the quality of food she puts out. She said she cooks with virgin olive oil, including the fried stuff vs the yucky oils. That's a win for me! And she uses quality meat and ingredients. She cooks fresh everyday so no putting out old food from the day before. I think she's opening up to me y'all! Hahaa I just go in there and just give her a big smile and say I'm back! She chuckles...so don't be scared now and go try her out. LOL! read more

I can't remember the last time I was in a restaurant that had such awful service. The older lady behind the counter acted like she was doing us a favor by even acknowledging our presence. Maybe I'd be willing to be treated so early if the food was so good it warranted it, but not at all. We've never stepped foot inside this place again and instead choose the other Filipino restaurant down the street. read more

I will only leave my review based on two reasons. 1.The old lady at the counter had an attitude and acted like she didn't want to be bothered by us. 2. I was making my way to Sharetea, when this shop caught my eye while I was parking. Winnie's Filipino Kitchen (WFK) is a small, fast casual shop in a takeout style format. Never been to the Philippines, but I think they call this turo turo style. You order at the counter with already prepared items and pay. Looking at the menu, they also have party trays available that you can order in advance. They also have frozen lumpias that you can take home to fry fresh on your own! I might have to do that next time. There are a few tables and chairs, so you can also dine in if you wish, with two walls of shelving with Filipino grocery items that you can purchase. I really like that it was clean and very neat and didn't have that thick, oil-heavy-air odor. You know what I mean? The grease air that hangs? Anyway, back to the bites... - Noms - Lumpias - They were a decent size, tightly rolled and fried nicely. The dipping sauce, however, was just really more red than I'm used to. Can someone tell me if this is typically a jarred sauce or something that can be made from scratch? I'm just curious as to why the color varies greatly from place to place. My kids LOVE lumpia and no complaints from them either, but they also commented about the sauce. Pancit bihon - I got the medium sized container because again, my kids LOVE pancit. It's really not that similar, but I think the translucent pancit noodles remind them of the sweet potato starch noodles in japchae. The pancit was a bit more yellow than other places I have tried, but there was a good ratio of chicken, cabbage and carrots and it was good! Beef kare-kare - This was my try-something-new item. I saw the word "kare-kare" and assumed that it was "curry-curry". Well, the lady (who I am assuming was Winnie) was like no. It's made with peanut butter. Then I asked if it was curry made with peanut butter and she's like again, no. Straight up peanut butter. I decided to get it anyway. It's exactly as she described it. Not sure what is used to thin out the peanut butter, but it's a very rich dish, with big chunks of beef (it's probably chunks of chuck roast or that kind of cut) and green beans. It's very comfort food-like. Just be forewarned, if you have an aversion to cuts of meat with lots of fat or gristle. There are going to be some pieces like that, but personally, I think that adds more flavor. This is a dish that I have been working on for a few days, a little bit at a time, because this is definitely THICK and heavy. Great for cold days like these last couple of days. The takeout counter has about a handful of dishes that I'm assuming rotates with different items. The lunch specials are available with either one or two entrees with either option of rice or pancit (for a small upcharge) and you can even add a third entree for a small fee. Love that this place is a few doors down from Sharetea. You can grab some lunch and get a boba tea afterwards. I really appreciated that it was quiet, clean, with really affordable eats! For about a family of four (small kids, though, not teens haha), you can feed a family of four! Stay safe, Friends! read more

Came by on a whim with sister and daughter and we ordered lumpia and chicken to snack on. The owner was very busy, but stopped to serve up. Very serious lady, but smiled when we took the first bite of the lumpia which was PERFECT. She is a gem and gave us pointers of what the different dishes were. I came to this restaurant on a whim with my son and got a rice plate with the chicken curry (i think that's what she's said it was) and lumpia. It was absolutely the best choice I could've made! The food was so fresh and flavorful! Even my picky toddler couldn't get enough of the food and was asking for more. Definitely worth checking out and enjoying some delicious food! read more

I'm the son of great Filipino woman who could really cook! Sadly my mother passed in 2014, so I try to patronize any Filipino restaurant that I see. I noticed this one and decided that one day I'd stop in and check it out. First of all, this was one of the cleanest small places that I have had the pleasure of ordering from. The products for sale were very organized and neatly marked. The place smelled like food but not spices and the ambience was inviting! I had read reviews before going but I wanted to see for myself. The owner was very matter of fact, which reminded me of my mother and I told her about the reviews. She was very candid in the fact that she takes pride in what she does and works hard for what she has. She was an open book and visibly concerned but determined to continue to let the product speak for itself. The lumpia I was served were freshly cooked, served hot, and very tasty. They had chicken, beef, and pork. They cooked them to order and they were up in about seven minutes. Long story short...I'm going back...often! read more

Do not waste your time or spend money. As a serial Foodie of Filipino food and native, I will tell my fellow Pinoy's about this terrible service experience. Here's what's disappointing about this place: 1. No greeting or welcome 2. Rude and unhappy during intake of order and delivery 3. Breakfast is cold w/ no variety. Ordered longanisa and it was cold. Menu said comes w/ two eggs, had to ask for it? Really...I have to tell you how the menu should be? Also, menu said breakfast comes w/ coffee but none was made or available. 4. Breakfast sitting there cold! W/ only a few items on the trays...cold rice and sausage. God forbid you should order other breakfast foods- they won't be available. What's out it out, and it's cold 5. Then, order Lumpia- she seemed angry to make it and had a slight attitude 6. Order water, and she's charges double the price ($1.19 list, but charged me $2.50?) 7. Etc...too much to list I really hate that I can't support this new establishment, but here's some feedback for your new business. Improve service, serve warm fresh food, and BE HAPPY! One star is not about the taste of the food but the rude treatment I got from the lady behind the counter. I was so excited to go here because a Filipino restaurant close to my work. I got there and this lady helped me I don't know if I offended her when I said two entree pls. . She was going to put the sinigang with the rest of my food which as everyone knows sinigang needs to be in a separate container because of the soup. Gave me a mean look and sarcastically asked me if it's ok to put the meat in the Togo box. Gave me 2 small PCs of meat about 3 pcs of vegetable! Needless to say I am not going back there. I hope this gets corrected because there are lots of Filipino restaurants around. Good food and good customer service goes hand in hand. They will loose customers. read more

literally just walked out of this establishment. The time now is 4:04 PM July 13,2021. When I'm checking for new food, I usually try to check reviews before I go to a place. I wanted some Filipino food so I checked the reviews for this place and they seem pretty decent. The food may be awesome which I never got the opportunity to taste however, the customer service was terrible the short woman with red lipstick came through some curtain and asked me what I wanted. Clearly it's a Filipino kitchen or restaurant so I wanted to order some food. I told her I wanted lumpia and pancit and she said there's some right there and pointed at the bar. The Pansit Was stored in a Rubbermaid container and the Lumpia was just sitting on the counter under a heat lamp. Let me just say before the lady came out of the curtain I stood there for a good two minutes. So who knows how long that will be a has been there and who has touched it. My thing is someone is coming to your establishment for your business treat them with respect. I felt so disrespected because she didn't want to help me, she asked what you want in a very aggressive tone and all I want it was food. I said it's OK ma'am and walked out and it's like she made a noise at me that sounded like she spat. I'll take my business elsewhere. And use my money where I'm appreciated and welcome. read more

Food is not bad but WINNIE ,if she is the owner who serves the food is VERY VERY RUDE! She has no manners, she was telling another customer how picky I am and told the person how she wishes customers are not picky nor asks a lot of questions and I can hear her as I sit in the restaurant eating lunch- WHO DOES THAT?! She clearly needs some CUSTOMER SERVICE training (or just learn GOOD MANNERS and HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE RIGHT!). And That is coming from someone who works in customer service. I didn't argue not worth wasting my energy on someone who clearly is INSENSITIVE. I know there's another filipino restaurant nearby- just go there!
