Filipino spot #3 ... I have been on the search for sisig my favorite Filipino dish. This place was a cute corner spot family owned. Cleaner and cooler than the other 2 places I've been. Very "homey" inside and small. The portion was perfect. Not too much or too little. The lumpia was good and crisp not oily or stale. The sisig was 7/10. The white sauce they put on it I've never had before and I think that's what threw me off on the taste. Not as vinegar based as I like it. Where to start. OK...first, restroom is for employees only, but they will let you use it. But you better close the door quickly or the cook will let you know he is not pleased. Why? Restroom is ten feet from the stove. Next, the food comes out as it comes out. Not all at once, but little by little. Expensive! We ordered 5 entrees and the bill was $90+ before the tip. I've gotten bulalo at least four times from here since the pandemic started, thrice delivered. They have the best bulalo, at the best price. Comes with bok choy, beef, onions, a cob of corn, & half a banana. Always tasty - though, I like it on the saltier side so I add some fish sauce at home. Only thing I will say is the hours are iffy. Wanted to get Filipino breakfast for lunch and we haven't paid a visit to Glenda's since they first opened years ago. We didn't have a good experience but figured it was because they had just opened. The place is tiny and there was already a table full of people there. We placed an order and the guy told us that they would call us when it was ready. It was a rainy day and it gave us time to shop nearby. The food took longer than expected, maybe an hour but when we got the food it was delicious! Authentic Filipino cuisine that was well worth the wait. The place is definitely authentic and if you have ever been to the Philippines, you'll know what I mean. They offer breakfast all day and all of their food look pretty good. Will be trying them out again some other time when the craving is there. read more

So to start off with the pros, the lady manning the counter was really nice and accommodating. We ordered the bulalo and the sisig which was tasty. My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed that meal, which is why I give the 3 stars. And then the cons... When we arrived there it was during a weekday, a little past lunch. It was empty and we were the only customers initially, but the place was a little too small although the pictures posted here say otherwise. We had the option to sit on only 3 spots. The first one we sat on had a really rocky table, so we had to move to the seating that had squeezed 3 or 4 tables together which meant that we had to share it with others. Although I don't really care, I would've much preferred to have sat somewhere more private. There was only 2 food options on the counter, so whether we wanted the 2 entree and rice meal, we couldn't get them because there was hardly any food and it seemed like they were still in the process of making them. I thought they had opened late for the day but their schedule said they open 10AM that day. Then we ordered the boba tea. They have flavors listed over there that they don't have. Out of the entire list, they only had available at the time green tea, thai tea, chocolate tea, and taro. I tried to get the avocado flavor and it caught the lady by surprise and she said "there's avocado on the list? We don't have that flavor." The list also shows sizes small, medium, large, but they only sell really only one size which I believe was a large. When the boba drinks finally arrived, I was anxious to taste the pearls, so I went and tried to get one to chew, and they were undercooked. The centers were hard and obviously needed more time to boil. And there was only one pearl I had that was fully cooked and chewy. So I only had two pearls from the boba tea because I couldn't seem to get another one. When I finished my tea all the way, I saw a huge clump of undercooked boba pearls all stuck together. It is quite disappointing because the pearls are what makes the notorious boba drink. On top of this, they had no napkins available. She said they had run out so she had to run inside the kitchen to get their own paper towels to give to us. It was nice of her, but I feel like they should have these basic items like napkins ready especially if you're running a restaurant. Also they were running out of water in the dispenser, and she told us that if we wanted more water, we should change it ourselves. eh. read more

I've been debating on how to write this review. I'll start with the good. The customer service and hospitality was great! The location is hidden, unless you live in the neighborhood behind the shoping center. It isn't visible from Princess Anne Rd. It has enough seating for a small crowd. I've only ordered to-go service. The food that I had from here was good. For example the pancit, topsilog, and more. The lechon kawali was very good! This place was my first and only experience eating it. Like others said, it is a delicious alternative to crispy pata (which is pricey here). I thought the bubble tea was overpriced. It wasn't the best, but I go to other places specifically for bubble tea. Besides the minor price issues of some items, I had one major issue with Glenda's. Now I love sisig since I first tried it a couple of years ago. I've eaten it at a few different places. Glenda's was probably the 2nd best that I've had. It's made to order, and came out fresh. HOWEVER, halfway through my meal I bit down on something extremely hard. I'm glad my reflexes were good, or I might have cracked a tooth. I spit it out, thinking it was a bone. When I looked at the object, it was clearly a fully entact molar, with roots attached!! I literally got sick to my stomach, and all types of thoughts ran through my head. I did my research and looked online to verify it was a pig molar. I knew which ingredients went into making sisig. I definitely believe there needs to be a better quality check (especially with these ingredients), and a selection of a new meat supplier. Sad to say that this experience has ruined any future sisig dishes for me. I can't think about it without feeling a little nauseous. I don't plan on eating here again. The dishes here are made to order so definitely expect a long wait time because Filipino dishes take a little longer to cook. However, I would say it's worth the wait and the quality of the food is worth the price. The place has a very small dining area so be prepared for that. I suggest calling ahead to place an order and picking it up so you don't have to wait while they cook. Definitely try the Bulalo and Sisig. It's more of a 3.5 for me. Let's start with The Good: * $7 for 25 pcs of lumpia. Yes please, and thank you! Small, bite size pcs but enough to satisfy 4 adults. Worth it. * Crispy Pata comes correct at Glenda's. Though I really shouldn't, I can honestly eat all of this by myself and then some. But I won't. Not sure if it's worth $16 buuuuut I'd probably order it again. And again. * Sisig. Ooooh the sizzle!!! It will make your mouth sing, heart stop beating, and belly very happy. Too much onions for me but it's still so good. Try it with a cold beer one time... * Bulalo is pretty decent. It's very soupy so it's perfect on a cold day. Gotta have that sabaw to warm up your insides. Sabaw = broth in Tagalog. Use that word to impress your friends! * The space inside. More spacious than I thought judging from the outside because the "PINOY Oriental Mart" sign still hangs outside. You can host a small party complete with catering and karaoke. * Ate/Auntie Thelma. She is amicable and friendly. She looks like a good time. Hashtag pause. No really, she looks like one of those fun aunties who love to just have fun. She's awesome. Now onto the Not So Good... * The free water. Just no. Don't do it. The water dispenser gives funny tasting water. The "cold" feature is either off or broken. You're better off purchasing a canned or bottled drink from the fridge. * Siopao is better elsewhere. Didn't really like it. Seemed kind of old. Meh!! * Ginataang Langka is not my thing. First time having it and if all of them tastes like Glenda's, then it's a definite no for me. * Chicken Mami was just okay. Has potential. I prefer more MSG, I mean, more flavor.... and I suppose I coulda added more salt but I'm a believer that one shouldn't have to add more salt to any dish when dining out. Everything should be well seasoned. I like my mom's better. * OMG the RICE!!! They served us OLD rice. I'm talking 3-4 days old rice that's been sitting in the rice cooker cooking. No longer white, but kind of yellow because it's old. That's a no-no in any restaurant. Must serve fresh rice all of the time. All of the time.... * The wait for special orders. Could be lengthy but you'll always have piping hot, fresh food in front of you! That's why order the lumpia while waiting!! * Location & Parking. Almost no parking because employees take up most of the lot on that side of the strip. And it's tight! You won't even know a restaurant and other businesses are there unless you have a reason to drive around that side of the building. Kinda sad. It's practically behind One Life Fitness. * Bathroom. I personally didn't use it because my mom scared me after she used it. Said she was glad we ate first because otherwise she wouldn't have eaten. Brown water?? No hot water in the sink to wash hands? Super filthy? Ugh. The stench of the bathroom just followed her when she walked out. (Sorry mom, I don't mean to make it sound like you dropped a deuce even though i know you didn't.) I'm not sure how long Glenda's has been around in this particular location but I do remember two previous lives where Glenda's is now that I liked. One was a Hawaiian restaurant some five years ago and another was a Filipino restaurant that served up some bomb ass sisig. Both these previous locations were small. Glenda's took up the adjacent space so now you really get the feel of a restaurant (versus a take out spot with very limited seating). It's tight quarters when you first walk inside. They have a few tables and a mini store of Filipino goods of items that will help you cook Filipino food at home. To the right is their dining area that really makes your feel like you're in a Filipino restaurant. It's not a big area but you can definitely have a party of six to 10 come in for lunch/dinner. One thing I particularly liked was their condiments section. They had vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce, and dual sauce containers for those that like to mix these together. Yay for me. My sister and I had a free for all on the menu. I ordered the sisig ($8). She had a fried tilapia ($6-7). We ordered 25 lumpia ($7). I enjoyed the sisig. Not quite the bomb ass flavor I had envisioned but a good dish. Why would anyone want to make lumpia at home when you can get 25 of them for under $7? When the bill came and it was only $23, we were stoked. One thing I didn't like was the water they had in the jug. I didn't care if it was tap water inside of it but it didn't taste very good at all and they didn't have any bottled water to purchase. I'd recommend this place. After ogling some of the pictures of fellow Yelpers I decided to embark on a search for a sizzling plate of sisig. Understanding that each cook has his/her own spin on the dish, I was not disappointed when I dined at Glenda's. Small venue that has daily specials featured on their hot bar and of course combo plates if you want to mix it up a bit and try a variety of the menu items. I was fortunate to have the sisig and a mango boba tea for my lunch. Of note, I found my boba pearls seemed to be frozen when placed in my drink and it changed the consistency when chewing them. My dining companion and I dined in and had the place to ourselves and took in the décor while waiting for our food. We didn't have to wait long and the portions were spot on and the flavor of the dish was on par. I found myself full and satisfied with the sisig and ended up skipping dinner. On my next visit, I'll ask the cook to add more spice. Parking is shared with other businesses and it's not too much of a challenge to park close. Sorry, no military discounts or other promotions at the time of my visit. The dining room is spacious enough for a group gathering and you can call ahead for quick pick up of your order. read more

I just wanna share my unpleasant experience with this establishment. Not once, but two separate occasions. I called in New Year's Eve to find out if they were open on New Year's Day and the lady confirmed it over the phone with me that they were gonna be open until 6 pm on New Year's Day. So I proceeded to put in my order and I scheduled the pick up at January 1st, 2020 at 5:30pm. The lady confirmed what my order was and asked for my phone number. And we agreed on the said order. Fast forward the next day, the time of pick up, I showed up to their place and little did we know that they were CLOSED. I get it, it's New Year's Day and if you don't want to open up, that's your business, you do what you do. But not one courtesy phone call from them that they were not going to open up at all. I could've made a different arrangement to buy from somewhere else. My wife had work New Year's Eve and this was supposed to be our family dinner to welcome the new year. But no, they were closed and did not bother to give me a heads up, mind you she took my number and repeated it back to me that she got it! They have completely lost my business! First time going to this place. Had the rudest person taking our order. First she assumed I was with the other customer so she inadvertently charged all of the orders together on my card--she did not apologize for that and just told the other customer to pay me instead. Then I noticed she got our order wrong so I let her know so that they can correct it in the kitchen to which she responded with such snarky attitude and had accused me of switching up my order. Then I asked that the orders be made to-go. She brings the food on a plate and a bowl for dine in. So again, I requested it to be prepared for to-go to which this lady responds with a sour attitude as she goes to grab the to-go containers... very uncivilized and disappointing experience. I don't know if she was the owner or just works there but I for sure am not coming back there. BEWARE, the older lady that works there will assume things about your order and will not own up to her mistakes and will give you the worst customer service. Glenda's has flavorful, melt in your mouth menudo and their lumpia is always crispy and fresh. For about $6 you can get 25 pieces of lumpia and their delicious sweet and sour chili sauce. Their 2 entrees with rice special, however, will cost you a whopping $15.98 compared to the similar special at Ihaw Ihaw down the road which is only $5.29. The pancit smelled and tasted a bit suspicious though and my friend and I chose not to risk finishing it after a couple of bites. The inside looks very unfinished. The owners seem to not know quite what they want to do with the place. I will say that Glenda's is FAST. I once ordered a tray of 100 lumpia for a party and they apparently forgot to put the order in when I arrived. But much to my surprise it only took them 10 minutes to fry them all up and they even added a little extra for the inconvenience! So if you're looking for a cheap and fast box or tray of fresh and delicious lumpia, Glenda's is definitely your place. I've heard about this place from word of mouth. Finally had the opportunity to check it out. Upon arriving, my mom and I decided to try the bulalo (meat and vegetables in a seasoned broth), crispy pata (deep fried pork thigh with skin), pancit palabok, and a siopao (steam meat bun). The dishes served to us were enormous! Basically, yes- it was quite a generous serving. Definitely enough food to eat there and enough to take home for lunch and/or dinner. The pancit palabok had all the flavors expected. Nice smooth, seafood sauce poured over bihon rice noodles, and garnished generously with smoked fish and eggs, as well with green onions and other toppings. The crispy pata was tender and the skin had that easy crunch that is familiar to that of crunchy bacon. The bulalo had the familiar flavor of another filipino dish, nilaga. But this soup was filled with corn, banana, beef shank, and greens. Very savory dish that would be especially popular when the weather gets cold. The only downside of my meal was the siopao. It came with my pancit palabok as a combo for 7.99. The filling was a bit dry and the dough dense. But I know with siopao there's always that chance it may happen. There are so many other menu options as well as a 2 entree dish for 5.99. Definitely going to come back to try something else to enjoy. read more

My husband and I ordered the crispy pata and the bulalo. Needless to say that my crispy pata has "No Meat" on it but just the crispy skin and knuckles. I was shocked that they charged me the full price of $15.99 for what they claim a "Medium Size" crispy pata with no meat on it. I kid you not!!! It seems like they don't need a customer. As we walked in, the lady didn't even bother to entertain our questions about the food and she just leave us. She just told us to look what is there but not so much choices of cooked food available there. We've been standing there for 15 minutes, there's nobody to talk to or place our order. Today, April 18, 2019, we went to this place to eat mami and while I was eating and mixing my soup there was a black thing and I thought it was like a burnt garlic but no it wasn't, it was a 6 legged baby cockroach and yes I saw the legs!! We called the lady and she called the chef and he was shocked and had the guts to say it wasn't there when he was preparing it. This restaurant has bugs in their kitchen.
