    Turon

Dropped by to get dessert. The sweet crispy on the outside and soft sweet banana on the inside is really good, we call this Turon. The ginataan reminds me of back home .Made with glutinous soft chewy rice balls, sweet potatoes and tapioca pearls and plantain that is cooked in sweet coconut milk with the right sweetness. Kids approved and loved it. Must try!

    Bicol express and 3 longanisa

I've been to the other location in Chesapeake a handful of times which is a more modern feel but this is a classic turo turo filipino restaurant. I got their bicol express and it was delightfully spicy. Their longanisa was a bit mushy on the inside which made me wonder if I just got the last bit that had been sitting for a little but it was still good. The only other downside was they only take cash which I luckily had on me (and there's an atm within walking distance) at the time. Pretty good from what I've tried so far, will be coming back to try more of their dishes.

Great stuff! It's definitely home cooked meals! Go for pancit instead of rice. Idk it was in the back. But I've always been more of a noodle guy. No dine in right now, but at least they take card!

Lumpia was cold and lacked flavor.

I happened to stop in wanting something quick to eat on the way to an appointment. I passed by this restaurant and made a U-turn so that I could eat while in transit. When I arrived I asked what their smallest order of lumpia would be. The lady behind the counter kept telling me about 12 and I remember pointing out to her on numerous occasions that I wasn't going home and didn't want the food to sit in my vehicle so I needed the small order and I planned to return in the future for more items off the menu. She explained that someone ordered this and never came back for it. She opened the box and showed me the lumpia and I repeated that I wouldn't be going home but she sold it hard so I took the order. When I got in my vehicle I ate one and it was no longer warm, almost cold and greasy. I think that's why the flavor wasn't there. I was glad I asked for an extra duck sauce for flavor but it wasn't flavorful either. She'd made a point of telling me that they had pancit and wanted me to purchase that as well. I could tell that she figured I was one of the people what only knew about lumpia and pancit. (smile) I'm actually very familiar with Filipino cuisine and love several other dishes but I just opted out and repeated that I'd return when time permits. I should've gone back into the restaurant and complained that the food was cold but I was running late. I can't recommend this place yet but I know they've been around for decades at other locations as well so I'll try something else next time. They had a few other items out (already prepared...buffet style) and other customers came in and showed immediate interest. I didn't have time to pay attention to the selection...another reason that I plan to give this restaurant another chance.

Chicken adobo, and pork ginataan so delicious

This place is really delicious, I tried Filipino food once before years ago and didn't like it at all because it was really bland, but I came here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The food was seasoned perfectly, It wasn't really spicy but I added a little Sriracha and that was all I needed, I definitely will be coming back

    Nice sign!

Freaking delicious!!!! Perfection. Huge servings. We each took some to go. I wanted to keep eating and eat it all but I stopped myself. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Fresh. They all came together and made this awesome team to serve us delicious food. So very nice too. The drinks were also delicious. I will be going back. I don't have a single complaint. They also have a take out window.

I tried out the caldereta and the mechado (?). I liked both items but I found it too oily for my liking. The vegetables were stewed perfectly and the meat texture were nice and tender. I think had I visited earlier in the day, it may have had a less oily texture to it. The accompanying soup was super sour but acted as a perfect palate cleanser after the oily meals. The service was excellent-- friendly, patient, and helpful. You can pick and choose different entrees over rice or pancit. Similar to getting food from Panda Express. The inside of the restaurant has several family friendly seatings available and baked goods and market also. Lastly, parking is free and plentiful right across from the front entrance. If an out of area Filipino asked for a good place to eat, I wouldn't hesitate recommending them. I certainly wouldn't mind revisiting again in the future.

They are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM but you can place your order any day (for pick up on the weekend) by calling them on the phone or sending a message on Facebook Messenger. I've ordered both ways with success. This is strictly a take out restaurant as there is no dining room. On Sundays when they sell lechon by the pound they make a little extra for walk-in customers but I highly recommend placing your order at least a day in advance. I have enjoyed partaking of the whole pig a couple of times at events and have ordered a few pounds a couple times. It is truly a wonderful dining experience. The skin is crispy and the meat is so juicy, tender and delicious. It is served with a very nice dipping sauce. You can order the whole pig, the head, shoulder/butt or belly. The menudo was flavorful and filling the meat was tender but there were a few pieces with fat. The pancit was tasty. It wasn't heavy on vegetables, I wish there were more. The pork belly was crispy and I liked it, but a few pieces were over cooked and had an awkward burnt old flavor. I can't really explain it. But the taste caught me off guard. I enjoyed the lumpia.
