Dr. Herba should set the bar for any optical business and the professionals that work there do also! They did not have me sign a waiver, did not ask for permission to modify my hardware, and took my glasses into the back room out of sight. If my lens had actually been damaged beforehand, store protocol would have been completely different--they would have addressed it immediately, told me I needed new lenses, and had me order them. The lens was never mentioned or addressed because it was not damaged prior to their staff touching my frames. Instead, while in the back, the technician, Faith, admitted she wasn't strong enough to fix them and passed my frames to Victor. Without my consent, Victor forced an unauthorized, generic black screw into my hinge instead of using the correct Tom Ford hardware. The top of this black screw is noticeably larger than the original manufacturer specs, so it sticks out awkwardly, and the hinge no longer closes smoothly. While forcing this unapproved hardware in, Victor's tool slipped, leaving a fresh, deep horizontal scratch strictly on the inside of my right lens, perfectly aligned with the hardware where the repair tool slipped. The store is actively denying that they damaged my lens, claiming the glasses were "already damaged"--which is a deliberate lie. The assistant manager actually left a voicemail admitting they used an incorrect screw because it was "what they had around and free," confirming they forced non-standard, oversized parts onto my property without my consent. When I came in to resolve this clear property damage, Store Market Manager Justin Fritch acted with extreme unprofessionalism. He completely denied the damage and said that they have no such tools that would be able to cause such a scratch, which is on the inside of the lens at the same height of where the screw is. He completely disregarded and dismissed my husband unapologetically, and escalated the situation by shouting across the public retail floor, "We don't give out free stuff!" No liability waiver, warning, or release form was presented to or signed by me prior to this service. Under Illinois law, a business cannot retroactively apply a verbal "store policy" to absolve itself of negligence or property damage. Avoid this company.

I can see fine; I just needed an updated prescription. Clearly he was looking to make money and not recommend the best thing for me - his patient. We Went through all of the steps and the prescription he gave me isn't correct. I don't know if he wrote it down wrong or what but the script is wrong. I have been to this practice for several years and all of the providers I saw previously were outstanding. I think it says a lot about the practice that all of those other ophthalmologists have left and only newly graduated, inexperienced ones are there now. I am not going back.

She actually started out in Schaumburg but when she transferred to Algonquin, the Schaumburg store kinda went downhill so we hall it out to Algonquin when we need our exams. Dr. Wickizer gives a thorough exam and she also gave me different types of contacts to try out before I purchased. The staff when you are purchasing glasses, helps you to get the best deal. They will check with your insurance to see what your insurance pays or if the sale price is better. The only bad thing is glasses and contacts are so expensive but that is not the staff's fault, I know The pricing is set by "Corporate".

He takes the time and listens to my complaints and then addresses them after the exam and kind of connects the dots as to why I had those complaints and how it's related to my prescription and health of my eye. No one really did that before. He made some suggestions as to the type of contacts I should use and the kind of glasses to get; not in a pushy or salesman kind of way, but more of an informative way. He also took pictures of my retina and explained how everything works and how things would look if it wasn't healthy. It's pretty cool to see what's inside your eye. Now the frames aren't high end or anything, but I thought the prices were more than reasonable for what you're getting. I've paid almost 2x more for the same pair in past places. The guy that helped me (Larry or Gary...? sorry) was great, he knew his stuff and made it super easy.
