After they took my cards for my eye exam and contact lens fitting I had a very pleasant experience in the office with the ophthalmologist. Upon leaving they charged me $110. Deducting $40 for "insurance". After speaking with VSP I was informed that they're allowed to say they take VSP, however, what they'll never tell you is that they're out of network. Not only did they charge me they also very quickly sought reimbursement from VSP and submitted a claim. Their paperwork shows $24 for screening and photos and $76 for CL exam and another $50 for complete eye exam. I'm now battling VSP to get reimbursed. Unless you want to spend time and significant efforts fighting between Visibly Better, VSP and Costco then beware of this dishonest place.

I have been going to Dr. Ostoich for years, after switching from an optometrist that actually…read moreforgot my appointment and went home for the day. Besides being personable yet very professional, Dr. Ostoich and his entire practice is definitely up to date on all of the latest in eye care. And that's more important than one would think. Unlike all of the cheapie eye stores that don't do complete eye exams, Dr. Ostoich looks at EVERYTHING to be sure your eyes are healthy! My visits are usually about 45 minutes long as they're looking at my retinas, testing eye pressure for glaucoma and searching for cataracts. During one of his thorough exams on my girlfriend a few years back, Dr. Ostoich discovered tumors in her eyes and immediately sent her to an oncologist. Disappointing her gynecologist didn't find it first since she had just seen him, and that's where the cancer started. Dr. Ostoich was definitely the Hero in that situation!! If it weren't for his thorough eye exams, God only knows how much further the cancer could have spread before it was detected. An eye exam store in the mall would not have found this! And then there's the usual vision test. About 15 to 20 years ago, Dr. Ostoich switched me from soft contact lenses to, just as comfortable, gas permeable lenses due to the fact that my vision had been changing to the worse so quickly, at the time. I'm happy to report, my vision hasn't changed one bit since!! I'm still amazed that I have the exact same vision that I did so many years ago!! And it's great to see the Doc smile when he realizes the same thing, knowing he's done his job well. In Summary, Dr. Ostoich and his practice might cost more than going to For Eyes or any other cheapie mall store, but when it comes to your vision, I don't want to go cheap and neglect the health of my eyes. You get what you pay for!!

Before you think about driving to the emergency room give them a call for minor and moderate eye issues. They might be able to see you quickly. I was a next morning after reporting anomaly in the afternoon day before. The office is clean well kept and equipment is of current generation. Phoropters and slit lamps are original early 2000s installs very well maintained and kept with pristine lenses. Staff are caring and nice and handle exams quickly. Dilation waiting area was in the center but was told to go to main waiting which was a slight workflow deficiency, I will not deduct stars for workflow deficiency. Points will be deducted Appearance 90 (some corners of exam chairs have peeled paint and could use a repaint and refresh. The leather as well has cracked on some seats making a reupholstery job a favorable management decision in addition to light repainting and updating the overall offices decor. It feels like it's stuck in 2004) Staff 100 (absolute gems of staff here. Very caring and patient even with rather sketchy eye control in cerebral palsy exam. A CP exam can take up to 70% more time than a standard exam. Here a CP exam takes averaged across five exams approximately 20% longer than a standard persons exam which is impressive efficiency with high complexity care.) Equipment 100 (while cosmetic issues exist such as peeling paint actual equipment is kept in pristine condition and works as expected. In fact the auto diagnostic machine was so clean I plopped my head down and they said "hang on hang on I haven't even wiped it yet!" Your fault for it looking perfectly ready!) Workflow 85 (this one was the hardest to deduct for. They had a central interior waiting room with no windows for dilating patients. Instead they had everyone waiting in main today. Not sure if this was due to the water issue in the building or if this was a workflow defect. Will follow up next exam and remind them of proper use of the dilation room to avoid over irritation of patient eyes during the wait and to improve COVID-19 distancing for patients by keeping dilating patients away from the main waiting to protect them while eyes are in a more vulnerable state.)
