Well, to continue my saga with Tabak, the apparent manager John D. responded to my unfavorable comments from 11 days ago A glasses frame they sold to me as having a lifetime warranty "Nike" is allegedly is no longer covered for loss/damage. John D, Manager, asked for my contact information and upon his request I provided my email and phone number, as requested which he insinuated would result with a quick resolution. Well, it's been 11 days and with 4 follow ups emails later and no contact from Mr John D. or anyone else with Tabak. It's clear to me they don't care about the customer after the sale. I would NEVER RECOMMEND Tabak as a good neighbor. I actually still have the glasses case saying "NIKE" and the stupid spritz bottle for lense cleaning . This establishment is a sham. They don't care about their customers or repeat business. Go to a strip mall eyeglass place. Tabak sucks! read more

It is so important to support local businesses including eye doctors. I went to see Dr Tabak for an eye exam. His office is conveniently located at an outdoor shopping center. Dr. Tabak and his staff are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Tabak also sold me glasses that I needed and did not try to upcharge me for what I did not need. Dr. Tabak has plenty of glasses options to choose from too and the turnaround time for the glasses was very quick. I will definitely be back for future eye exams. read more

Harassed by three people, throwing a mask in my face, yelling and pointing. There is no mask mandate. There is no pandemic. You don't need to wear a mask; get over it. And besides - How does one try on glasses with a mask!?! I'll take my business somewhere else. read more

I've been seeing Dr Tabak for 13 years now - I even kept him when I moved to MN because I couldn't find anyone as awesome! Dr. Tabak has a great, friendly personality, and he remembers you and your details "Did you graduate from NIU yet?" He's found mistakes that other optometrists made, and he actually listens to you and your concerns. They've had the same great and friendly staff forever, and a good selection of eyeglasses. They know that I'm price conscious (due to my status as a college student), and they've always been helpful. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them. Their new office location is by Heinens, and while traffic can be a bit squirrely on Hough (as anyone in/who drives through Barrington knows), compared to their old location, there's a LOT more parking! I've found that as long as I take Hough St southbound, I can easily drive up the right turn lane and turn. read more

Had my first appointment today with Dr Tabak. The office staff and Dr Tabak was just great. After arriving and a quick temperature check due to Covid i went right back for my appointment. A simple refraction exam which I haven't had for a few years. My father, who passed away back in 2006, was an opthalmologist so I knew what to expect and what makes a good doctor a great doctor. Dr Tabak took his time with me - explained every procedure and the results and answered all most questions and concerns. The optician Kathy was also helpful shwokmg me some new frames. I did my research before visiting local doctors as I'm new to the area. Couldn't be happier with level of service and professionalism. 1,200$ down the drain. His office is not able to provide progressive lenses. They supposedly "corrected" my glasses, but I received exactly the same faulty product. Which took few months. They use some silly machine to position focal points. It is horribly wrong . The doctor never took time to check the glasses just left this responsibility to front desk women. Stay away. All negative reviews are scrubbed from internet. read more

I had the most disgusted & highly unprofessional experience I believe I've ever had from any medical office . I merely went in to pick up my contacts that had arrived , and when told how much one box was , I just explained my surprise because I had never paid that much before at other places even without insurance . The lady who was checking me out looked into my insurance to get me explanation of my benefit , and explained those are just our prices . You can take your prescription elsewhere if you like . The worst , actually , was the lady with blonde hair sitting behind her that i observed rolling her eyes with this disgusted look on her face at my concern of cost . She didn't realize I noticed it , I let them know that I wanted a copy of my prescriptions to take elsewhere and that I did notice the eye rolling at me from the lady behind her . I work I. a highly professional healthcare office myself and we do not treat our patients like this ... verbally or non-verbally . I've had a poor experience in the past at this office which I wrote a review on the last time I was in , and they asked me to remove the review and wouldn't happen again & apologized for their behavior . This review will not be taken down . I hope it saves a lot of other patients the poor customer service & disrespect from this office . It's because of patients coming in there that you have a job and a business .. you should really treat it as such . read more

Nail Polish! I may have been the only one in history to get a chip of nail polish in my eye but Dr. Tabak was able to see me and fix me in less 30 minutes from my original call! His staff is so friendly and understood how uncomfortable i was and it was AMAZING! I have a huge fear of eye doctors and he was so personable and welcoming that all of my fear melted away as i walked into the building. Thanks, Dr Tabak! read more
