In all that time, I have never experienced a more caring and efficient optical business than SHOPKO Optical in Crystal Lake, IL. Dr. Herba should set the bar for any optical business and the professionals that work there do also! A few years ago, I wrote a similar review and expressed my concerns about some of the people and their training. I am happy to report that Shopko has upped their game! My recent experience gets an A+!

I was a new patient to Advanced Eyecare Clinic and I was extremely pleased and highly recommend…read morethem. What impressed me the most was the thoroughness of all the different eye examinations that Dr. David Rocks preformed. I had a cataract surgery in my right eye a year and a half ago, concerned about glaucoma, my night driving/glare and all the other eye issues as I grow older. So, services were very important to me. Dr. David Rocks thoroughly explained all the different eye examinations/ procedure's he was doing in detail. I didn't feel rushed through, I felt like I received the most thorough eye exam that I had in the last 21 years. His staff is great! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Sharon was very patient in helping me pick out frames. And they have a huge selection of frames to choose from.

She actually started out in Schaumburg but when she transferred to Algonquin, the Schaumburg store kinda went downhill so we hall it out to Algonquin when we need our exams. Dr. Wickizer gives a thorough exam and she also gave me different types of contacts to try out before I purchased. The staff when you are purchasing glasses, helps you to get the best deal. They will check with your insurance to see what your insurance pays or if the sale price is better. The only bad thing is glasses and contacts are so expensive but that is not the staff's fault, I know The pricing is set by "Corporate".

Called and sent email 5 times looking for answers. No call back or answer to help me. Spoke with store clerk week later he said glassesready in 3 days, not ready. Went to store week later said they would be ready in 5-7 days and there would be compensation. So my glasses were $366. She said she will take $30 off. For being 5 weeks overdue I thought this was an insult. I refused the money, took my glasses and left. Total- 4 trips to store, 4 calls to store, 3 emails to customer service, 1 call to customer service and yet no help whatsoever. Bad customer service. Take your business elsewhere

Great Doctor and very friendly and helpful staff. It's my second visit, but first as a patient. I…read morecame here last year with a friend for her exam and she had the same great experience. They are a lot more busy than last year and it's easy to see why. What stands out is the exam. There is another Dr. there, but the one I saw and my friend saw last year was Dr. Ymalay. He takes the time and listens to my complaints and then addresses them after the exam and kind of connects the dots as to why I had those complaints and how it's related to my prescription and health of my eye. No one really did that before. He made some suggestions as to the type of contacts I should use and the kind of glasses to get; not in a pushy or salesman kind of way, but more of an informative way. He also took pictures of my retina and explained how everything works and how things would look if it wasn't healthy. It's pretty cool to see what's inside your eye. Now the frames aren't high end or anything, but I thought the prices were more than reasonable for what you're getting. I've paid almost 2x more for the same pair in past places. The guy that helped me (Larry or Gary...? sorry) was great, he knew his stuff and made it super easy. A lot of the other customers there had positive things to say about the Dr as well while they were buying there glasses. There was a lot of "nice seeing you again". I just had an overall good experience from beginning to end and would recommend this place to anyone.

Buyer beware: Avoid this location at all costs if you value your eyewear. I brought my premium Tom…read moreFord glasses here for a simple service to straighten my bent frame. They did not have me sign a waiver, did not ask for permission to modify my hardware, and took my glasses into the back room out of sight. If my lens had actually been damaged beforehand, store protocol would have been completely different--they would have addressed it immediately, told me I needed new lenses, and had me order them. The lens was never mentioned or addressed because it was not damaged prior to their staff touching my frames. Instead, while in the back, the technician, Faith, admitted she wasn't strong enough to fix them and passed my frames to Victor. Without my consent, Victor forced an unauthorized, generic black screw into my hinge instead of using the correct Tom Ford hardware. The top of this black screw is noticeably larger than the original manufacturer specs, so it sticks out awkwardly, and the hinge no longer closes smoothly. While forcing this unapproved hardware in, Victor's tool slipped, leaving a fresh, deep horizontal scratch strictly on the inside of my right lens, perfectly aligned with the hardware where the repair tool slipped. The store is actively denying that they damaged my lens, claiming the glasses were "already damaged"--which is a deliberate lie. The assistant manager actually left a voicemail admitting they used an incorrect screw because it was "what they had around and free," confirming they forced non-standard, oversized parts onto my property without my consent. When I came in to resolve this clear property damage, Store Market Manager Justin Fritch acted with extreme unprofessionalism. He completely denied the damage and said that they have no such tools that would be able to cause such a scratch, which is on the inside of the lens at the same height of where the screw is. He completely disregarded and dismissed my husband unapologetically, and escalated the situation by shouting across the public retail floor, "We don't give out free stuff!" No liability waiver, warning, or release form was presented to or signed by me prior to this service. Under Illinois law, a business cannot retroactively apply a verbal "store policy" to absolve itself of negligence or property damage. Avoid this company.

After tonight's experience, I wish Coventry had been my doctor all along! There was a bit of a mixup with the time of my appointment, but that was handled professionally and fairly. I felt they really put their clients first and want to accommodate them whenever possible. When I arrived I was greeted in a very friendly and welcoming manner by the ladies at the front desk. Then Sean took me back for some pre-exam tests. He was friendly and funny while directing me from one machine to the next. I was surprised in such a short amount of time how much of my records and paperwork he remembered so I wasn't repeating myself. Dr. Bluemlein walked me through my retinal pictures with great explanation. I felt very comfortable with him and he too had clearly reviewed my info before coming in. That is a surprisingly rare thing with doctors and it's greatly appreciated by us patients! Brett and Cindy were put to work helping me find a pair of glasses. I've been looking for a specific color for years and that color is apparently very difficult to find. Cindy was reviewing websites while Brett was helping me look through sunglasses and glasses they had in stock. As I was resigning myself to the fact I'd never find the color, they found a pair online with one of their suppliers. They are ordering the frames for me to try when I go back to pick up my new sunglasses. They were both so fun to work with and Brett really understood what I was looking for with the color. Overall, my experience was fantastic and I'll happily recommend their office to anyone that is looking for a new eye doctor.
