I am a 12 year old kid and love this place. It's comfort food for everyone. I would give this place 10 stars, but yelp limits me to 5. Everyone is always helpful and will fulfill your request. The fries are the best, period. The fries are hand cut and fried twice for the iconic crispy shell and soft inside. Everything on the menu is the best, so I recommend everything, but the fries will always prevail. The prices are good, except for the Asian Chicken Salad, but that doesn't change the experience. The open seating and community table makes for a welcoming place. It has a modern look with dark wood and metal. Very clean environment. Outstanding, period. I am a bit of a burger aficionado. I actually order a burger plain from anywhere I go for the first time to have nothing interfere with the taste of the meat itself. I'm also very finicky about the fries. I may not be an expert on shakes but thought that theirs was excellent. I also drink enough Diet Coke to directly affect the price of Coca Cola's stock so I am very familiar with how that is supposed to taste. It was perfect here (from the fountain) Our order was simple, 2 plain burgers, 2 orders of fries, 1 chocolate shake and a fountain drink. It cost about $22. Our order was taken quickly and courteously and we had no expectation of the food appearing in 60 seconds. We could literally watch one employee take a handful of fresh ground beef and shape it into a patty that was cooked fresh. The bun was complimentary (to the burger, not free) and the combination was, in a word, perfect. The fries were also very fresh, perfectly cooked and very delicious. One order is plenty for two civilized people. If you eat like a large animal, of course, order as you see fit. For those who have an issue with the cost...Newsflash!!! It costs money to use fresh ingredients and make food fresh for every order. Certainly do not hesitate to go to McDonalds if you simply need a burger and fries and have no interest in freshly prepared food or ingredients. I will say with no reservation whatsoever that this is the best burger in the Roaring Fork Valley. I am originally from NY, most recently New York City. When trying to find my hotel, just down the road from the place, the owner was a complete ass hole and kept saying that they were closed when I just needed some aide. I decided to try it again, unless I ran into the General Manager, and I met Vic. He greeted me instantly, after asking for a recommendation he recomended the basic burger and a local beer. I am so glad that he worked that night. I would compare them to a Tony's Burger (from Utah) or 5 Guys. The burger and beer were great and I would recommend to anyone. The fries aren't as great as they said but they were still tasty. Still I can't complain about a good burger and great, local, beer, that is worth recomending. Where do I start? This is the best burger spot in the high Rockies by far. My fiancée and I make the drive to Sure Thing in Basalt from Aspen and it is totally worth it. Not only is the food awesome, but the staff is extremely friendly and their customer service is outstanding. We have been here a couple times now and amazingly, the owner remembered us which prompted a welcoming conversation. Both times I've been here I ordered the ranchero burger with a fried egg and it is to die for. The portions are great, I'm a big guy and I haven't left hungry yet. The fries are also excellent. I signed up for Yelp just so I could review Sure Thing Burger. This place is great. The burgers are delicious and I love that you can order them medium rare. Good toppings and a yummy brioche bun. The fries are hands down the best french fries I've ever had. Super crispy on the outside and tastes like a fresh baked potato on the inside. Nice and hot too. The owner or manager has been there every time I've been in and you can tell they really take pride in the place. The restaurant us always spotless and the bathroom is one of the cleanest restaurant bathrooms I've ever been in. Always a good sign! Friendly staff and quick service . Overpriced and inconsistent. When they first opened, they used an ultra premium beef, 7X. Then they broke ties with the ranch and substituted an inferior quality product and never lowered prices. If you open up the bun, the patty looks like it got dropped. Found hair in a wrapper this last time and the cooks don't use gloves or hair nets as health code requires. It's too bad. Back when they opened, we used to go there every week. I've gone for the last time however. 4 burgers, 3 small fries and 2 shakes (tiny) cost $54. There's better options close by. read more

Went to this place for the first time as we were waiting for our food I noticed the Cooks in the kitchen we're eating and drinking next to the grill in food prep areas they did not wear gloves or wash their hands after eating they just continued making our food we told what we thought was the manager or owner about what we saw and as she was walking away she looked annoyed she talked to the Cook and he just Shrugged his shoulders said okay and went back to cooking after being stared at by the staff we decided to take the food back and get a refund the young man behind the counter who took our order was the only reason this place got a star for me because he was very nice and understanding and tried to make us as happy as possible the rest of the staff seem like they were trying not to laugh I would not recommend going to this place read more

Service is not great and the food is expensive but delicious. I had an older gentleman that was on the register for the night and he not only ignored that I wanted to order when it was my turn but he also took a phone call while I was standing there waiting right in front of him and finally checked out someone else behind me when I was clearly in front and ready to order. I didn't go into the restaurant alone so maybe he thought the person with me was getting the food but I made a deal out of paying for myself. Then he took the call right when I started ordering. Maybe he thought I still needed a few to make up my mind, so I stood in front of him holding my wallet waiting for him to hang up. After a good minute long conversation on the phone about the available seating at the restaurant, I made a second attempt to order and he immediately looked at the man behind me who came in after us and asked him if he was there for a phone call to-go order. He then checked him out and everything right then and there, like I was some idiot that liked standing literally in the way of silly transactions. Finally after the third "I'd like to make an order" he got the hint and halfheartedly apologized for the phone call and ignoring me. He assumed that I was ordered for by the person with me and claimed he couldn't turn down the phone call from his boss (kind of feel like your boss would get the idea that your job is to serve people, especially with a newly formed line behind me, but hey, feel free to talk about the free seating all night to your 'boss'). Anyways I paid $16.12 for a ranchito burger and a large french fries. Quite a pricey meal, the burger was definitely worth it, pink and juicy and every bite was good, but the fries were not. Definitely not enough fries to justify the price. But honestly, all things surrounding the delicious burger? The service, the fries, the embarrassment of being repeatedly ignored and treated poorly? Not worth the $10 burger. The cashier had some poor cashier skill, and that's coming from a girl with only 2 years of experience doing the same thing. Why three stars, you ask? It's not because they charge for condiments (!) which is absurd. Food is consistent and good, but the owner treats his employees like CRAP in front of the customers.
